Sometimes I'm annoyed by the amount of physical comedy in this show

• Upvotes

It feels like every other scene has someone knocking things over in the kitchen, tripping, or wrecking something in their own house.

It's also become really predictable. Whenever someone is carrying something valuable with both hands, or anything similar, I already know they're going to drop it. And every single time, they do

Honestly in the later seasons it's not funny

Discussion As a lover of magic and wonder, whose side would Phil take in the fight between Kelly Clarkson and Art of Play?

Kelly Clarkson is feuding with Art or Play - a boutique in Brooklyn that sells toys and curiosities while also hosting magic shows - because the shop refused to sell her an item in the shop and implied that Kelly could not afford the item.
The shop did not realize who she was, and now feels unfairly harassed by KC fans. Many feel Art of Play’s responses to Kelly’s account of events have focused on the wrong issue. Kelly’s story is about the poor customer service she received, but the shop’s defense focuses on the item not really being for sale despite labeling it with a price.

Would Phil be team Kelly or team Art or Play?

Theory: Luke got his magic abilities from Claire.

We've seen Luke and Phil bond over magic, and we know how proud Phil is of Luke's abilities. That being said, Phil only ever seems to be pretty good with magic, nothing too special.

However, in the Season 8 Valentine's episode, "Do You Believe in Magic", we see Claire learning magic in a very short span of time and performing acts that seem at or even beyond Phil's abilities.

Therefore, I propose that Claire is the one with the natural magic affinity and inclination, and Luke inherited them from her, not from Phil. Maybe subconsciously that is one of the things that attracted Phil to her.

The only reason Seasons 9, 10 & 11 are rated this low is because Seasons 1-5 set an impossibly high bar.

Maybe it felt different waiting week to week when it aired, but when you binge watch the whole show now, the drop off in the last two seasons really isn't that noticeable. Still pure comfort TV.

Just found out that Luke was going to University of Oregon just as Ty burrell went irl. That's a good detail.

Was brodricks crush on cam or mitchell?

rewatching modern family episodes and noticed that the writers kinda left that question up in the air. I lowkey think the crush was on mitchell fr. Dumb question perhaps 🥸

I mean the way Cam's character is whimsical and iconic is just >>>

Also, the fact that he's straight irl is just insane, I mean WOW!

I feel no one else could portray Cameron Tucker the way Eric Stonestreet did ✨

Discussion I couldn’t figure out the reason I enjoyed this show so much when it was first shown to me years ago. Till I did.

It’s the absolute savage background jokes. Like they accidentally say something and someone else half reacts to it and just decides not to cause it might be even worse.

Best example I can think of is

Mitch being like “follow the ‘birthday flag’”

Cam turns and says “what did you call me?” Notices the flag that says birthday and says “oh”

There’s so so many though. I’m noticing them so much more with my second watch.

Every time I see these ads at my bus stop, I imagine Gloria getting a modeling gig after discovering the joys of comfy shoes.

I’m posting these pics of Claire and Luke because they’re such an underrated and underused duo. Also I’m posting these because they remind me of my oldest child and I when he was little, now he’s a teen and I’m not coping.

Discussion Underrated moment that makes me laugh so hard...what is yours?

Mine is when Cam walks into Mitch's office and Mitch is trying to act busy so he cuts a post-it in half and then immediately staples it back together lmao it is so stupid and funny. I love JTF's physical comedy so much 😂
