He loves his kids obviously, but he’s impulsive, irresponsible, and often just as childish as they are. It’s just easier to overlook because his flaws are usually played for laughs.

They appear in the fourth episode during the video speech presentation a few times. They had a bunch of cat from the previous series and I thought they must be someone recognizable but I have zero idea who they are. Anybody recognize them?

What an Episode so much happened , Easily one of my favorites of the Series. I think we have met the most horrible character of the series till now , this dam old woman.

The Malcolm and the gang in this Ep was too just Entertaining, their writing is getting better and better . (any thing i missed ?)

I noticed a little thing with the 16:9 edit in the intro to S02E21 Malcolm vs Reese. In the cold open you can see the edge of the set on the left side of the screen, and then the view from the other side with the back wall. Like, pretty obvious to anyone with a brain that this is how the filming works given the camera angles but I like seeing little bits of how the set / filming works in the show.

I've always wanted to see a behind the scenes of some of the inside-fridge POV shots.

Like she has to be dead by the reunion show. I seriously wonder if the family even showed

Basically since his birth Francis is the best, most perfect kid imaginable that a parent could hope for. He learns to walk, talk, read and write at the youngest possible age, he is top of his class, he is good in sports, is socially adept and so well liked by everyone and he gets whatever prizes, grants etc kids his age get and he's an absolute empath who never disobeys his parents.

Assuming the other kids (Reese, Malcolm, Dewey etc) retain the same personalities would Lois have had her "Fire is dangerous" moment? Would she have put her foot down that hard or would she have remained the same?

Thanks to Malcolm in the middle it changed my life...for better!

I only recently finished MITM and watched the spinoff so be careful there will be spoilers

in all the episodes these two consistently prove they are the worst siblings/sons and deserve all the horrible things that happen to them. and they do realize how selfish and mean but they don’t care for instance, in the spinoff ep4 malcom made his clip as rushed and unthoughtful as possible and wasn’t planning to come and only when he was forced to sit and look like the jerk he is he decides to get on stage and give proper speech and he still manages to turn it abt himself and propose to tristan. In the Same episode when Reese apologized to his dad abt making a mockery of him online without his knowledge he was fully aware of how cruel that was but just wanted to get it over with. I think the family dynamic would’ve been much healthier if it was just Hal, Lois, Francis, Dewey, Jaime, and Kelly yeah they will have their chaos and toxicity but Reese and Malcom made the show much entertaining and the family bonds worse

Imagine if he got to talk to Francis while he was still in military school.

This is barely related but it’s the only sub I’m in (maybe Seinfeld) that might appreciate this. I went to the same high school as Daniel (I was there in the mid 00s). One time I interviewed him over the phone for our newspaper. He clearly didn’t want to do it (my teacher met him at a local bar and convinced him) but he was very polite to me and dealt with my 15 year old mumbling very well.

Anyway, this isn’t about that. Someone at the school now has started digging through old stuff and found the tape of a 1989 public access show where they discuss Daniel and his budding broadway career. I kept in the whole segment for maximum awkward feeling. Hope you can get a kick out of it.

This is my favorite show ever. I don’t skip any episodes when I rewatch. But this one is probably one of my least favorites: S7E11 “Bride of Ida”

Lois at the airport literally drives me insane. She is just awful and obnoxious in this episode. And I love Lois 😔 but this is her at her worst.

I don’t care for the plot line with Ida making Malcolm and Reese compete to marry Raduca. I don’t like seeing them pitted against each other by Ida of all people. It isn’t really funny to me, just kind of miserable.

On a more positive note, I do love Hal’s little side plot at the airport lol. It is all that is holding this episode together for me.

I’m curious to know your thoughts on this episode and whether or not you agree that it’s one of the worst in what is such a great show.

What shows do you think are the most similar to Malcolm in the Middle in terms of comedic timing, cuts, dialogue and other production elements? I've tried to find things that the writers and directors have done, but couldn't find much. I feel like that's the best part of the show, that made it so clever.

I've already seen shows like Scrubs, Community, The Middle, Arrested Development.. anything more recent, or less well known?

Just curious. The show jokes about hand-me-downs a fair bit, but can it actually be seen on the screen?

Its insane how much effort they would put into shots that lasted a few seconds or a minute. Insane camouflage job for barely any airtime, a whole bee suit just to make one joke work

All four of them start fighting and as Hal and Lois turn and watch from the outside and Lois immediately says “you know, I wouldn’t give up a single one of them” just hits me like a brick every time. And then they see the pregnancy test come back negative and they go inside and Lois immediately starts yelling at them and chewing them out with a smile on her face 😊

I know it’s been out for months but I just finished it and the scene with Malcolm and Tristian continues to confuse me so much. In what world is it normal to propose to your girlfriend after your mom just did the sweetest thing for your dad. I know Malcolm is usually selfish but I don’t know I feel like it’s never this bad.

I decided to make the main family into Lego minifigures. I didn't have a decent choice of hair for Dewey so that's why he's bald for now. Handcuffs for Lois, hacksaw and board for Hal, slingshot for Francis, dynamite for Reese, homework for Malcolm, and sheet music for Dewey.
