Announcement Updated subreddit rules.
Just wanted to let you all know that there have been some updates to the sub rules.
Nothing crazy, however in the interest of transparency wanted to let everyone know instead of just doing it quietly. As always, rules are available in the sidebar on desktop and at the top of the sub after clicking on the subreddit name on the app.
Removed rule:
- Memes must be SPICY
- a fun rule, but too vague and open to multiple different interpretations. Therefore difficult to moderate fairly.
Additions:
- Sales and fundraising must be approved by a mod first
- this is included in the rule "No Spam, excessive self-promotion or unauthorized sales"
- We recently had a situation with a possible scam sale, as such all sales and fundraising must be authorized by a mod in modmail first.
Use spoiler tags for the iCarly Movie
- This is included in the "use clear titles and spoiler tags" rule
- With the possibility of the iCarly movie please use the reddit spoiler tag function if posting or commenting a spoiler about the plot. Posts providing production updates or merely speculating about the plot are not considered spoilers and do not need to be tagged.
No AI generated posts
Rules about post titles, reposts, quality, harassment and the sexualization of underage characters and cast remain, but may have been reworded for better clarity. Reddit terms of service also apply and content may be removed even if not explicitly listed in our rules as reddit rules are site-wide.
Any way! That's the end of this boring post. Thanks for everyone who makes this sub great! we really don't have to step in and remove rule breaking stuff very often which is all thanks to you!

Episode Help Nevel was such a ridiculous villain that he actually worked đ
He had the most dramatic plans over the smallest personal grudges. đ Somehow, every time he appeared, you knew things were about to get weird. Which iCarly side character deserved more episodes?

Revival Discussion Welp, Hollywood Arts makes this reboot look even better
Given how a lot of the dialogue and trends are already dated on that show, iCarlyâs new team actively got with the times and was not afraid to throw punches with its humor.

Original Discussion Dear creddie shippers, why do you guys like I saved your life?
I am not a creddie shipper or seddie shipper but Iâm confused why you guys see this episode as a big âcreddie momentâ because to me itâs just a F you to creddie shippers, I mean the episode is basically proving that Carly doesnât actually like him? In the end scene Freddie even has to ask Carly what they are and she responds with âmaybeâ and when he asks her why she now likes his nerdy talk she just kisses him. Iâm glad Freddie understood what was going on and broke things off with her but also he tells her that if she actually liked him theyâd get back together after the whole âheroâ thing wore off and they didnât so that only proves it further. A lot of you guys can say that it was ment to be creddie from the start but I think these writers were genuinely focused on seddie no shade..

Original Discussion Honestly, what was Spencer trying to do here?
I understand that he was feeling so uncomfortable from the situation that he didn't know what to do, but what was he gonna achieve by letting Trudy drag him on the floor like a potato sack without even doing something about it?

Original Discussion The Psychology of Sam
This is going to be a long one. I apologize in advance.
Rewatching Icarly as an adult and there was so much that I missed as an adolescent. I have so many thoughts about many different aspects of the show. This post will be about Sam (one of my favorites). For clarity, this post is completely about Sam (the character) and not relating at all to Jeanette McCurdy (as my thoughts are relating to this post is purely on the shows lore and characters and not the background implications).
As a child and teen (and even now, as someone that is in college) I love Icarly. Itâs by far one of my top 5 comfort shows. As a teen I recognized thatâs there was definitely some shadowing of serious issues in the show but when a guy is drinking a smoothie next to an ostrich, itâs hard to focus on it.
Sam. First thing first, I love her so much. Her character is so great, and itâs refreshing to see a character so complex as her. From the outside (and as a teen), I just saw a stubborn, food loving, kinda mean, protective girl who just went with the flow. As an adult? I finally see Sam for what her character actually was.
Like most teens, she didnât come from a perfect household. Saying that she came from a bad household wouldnât even be enough for what she went through.
1) She and her twin sister were born on a city bus. This is used as a joke in the show but in reality this would be a nightmare. Chances of her or Melanie having some sort of traumatic birth would kr been high. The lack of proper medical sterilization and care during and after birth right away would have been catastrophic. Twins have about a 60% chance of passing before birth due to complications. The show points out that this is because of Samâs mother not proerly planning.
As quoted in iTwins: âMy mom's not good at planningâ (Sam)-
While this is said like a joke I actually am lead to believe that Samâs mom didnât know that she was going to go into labor. Samâs mom is a lot of things, but statistically the chances of premature labor with twins is very high.
2) The jokes about Sam loving food: looking back, I feel immensely bad for how Sam is treated with food. Samâs mom is financially very unstable. She unstable period. Sheâs in and out of jail, implied to be on drugs (or âvitaminsâ per the show), and she does not have a job. Samâs father abandoned the family when she was a child, and to cope with this Samâs mother brings home random men into the apartment. From the âjokesâ in the show, it seems like Samâs mother spends her money only on herself. There is never food at home, which is why Sam is so good aggressive. Sheâs worried she wonât get another meal.
Food is a constant in her life. I feel with Sam, as that is her coping mechanism. Hunger is a pain that you can make go away. There are so many pains in Samâs life that she cannot make go away. This is why I love Spencer so much from the perspective of an adult, because he always has an abundance of food in the house for Sam. Sam practically lives in Carlyâs apartment, because itâs a safe household free of drugs and random men and the possibility of jail.
She is teased a lot of liking food, and I think this brings her a bit of comfort because people think that she just likes foodâŚa lot. Not that she is constantly afraid of not eating and that she has coping issues. I think Spencer recognizes this so thatâs why sometimes he does light teasing. It makes her feel normal. She hates being seen as a burden and is stubborn to the core. She hates asking for help, so thatâs why itâs easier to be this thick skinned mean girl who just likes food a lot. But sheâs not, but her environment has created a side of her that she shows to almost everyone.
3) her âmeannessâ: her words to Gibby and Freddie are not good. Iâm not even going to say that sheâs in the right there. But, the reason she does it is because it gives her a sense of control. Itâs ironic that most people who were abused, become abusers. The cycle always continues. She has always felt very small and out of control. Belittling others allows her to feel big and to feel like she isnât less than nothing. She is actually a very sweet girl, and the one scene that sticks out to me is when she got a job at the Chili place.
She started crying to Carly and when Freddie walked in she started growling/screaming. After Freddie ran away out of fear, she went back to crying. Less than 30 seconds truly showed who Sam was. Sam is a fundamentally abused girl who had the childhood of nightmares. As a teen, sheâs trying to be cool and trying to be normal but itâs hard when everything around you is held by duck tape of your own placing. She has zero control, so she controls her words (by being mean) to get control. She eats a lot to not feel that pain that she feels so much of whenever she isnât with Carly. She most likely has some sort of medical issue from birth but due to how little her mother cares, she isnât receiving assistance.
Yet, Sam is treated by her friends like everyone else. Nobody fully sees her issues because she uses humor as a coping mechanism. Sam is a lot like most adults I encounter. And I hope that all the Samâs out there find happiness in their life, as they never chose to be in the hellish life they were given.
Rant over. Sam, I love you and I wish her character as an adult is happy and finds true peace and comfort.

Original Discussion Carly and Samâs friendship is the key importance of Icarly and what made Icarly/ icarly in the first placeâ
Out of every friendship in any Nick show, Carly and Samâs will always be my favorite. A lot of people overlook just how important their friendship was to the show and no offense to those who like the revival without Sam or even prefer Harper and Carly over Sam and Carly but to me it will always be Sam and Carly. They have been friends since the second grade and have been there for each other, supported each other, and helped each other in so many different ways. Carly helped Sam become a better person, and Sam was always there to defend Carly (even if it was in her own crazy way lol)
Their different personalities, humor, and chemistry is what made the og series so entertaining and I know Carly was technically the host of Icarly but without Sam it wouldnât have been what it was. They made the webshow successful and funny together and their friendship helped shape the humor of the entire show (webshow and actual show)
Honestly imo I feel like if they couldnât get the original actor for Sam OR someone to recast her, they shouldnât have made the revival at all. I donât think of Sam ever leaving the group (or most importantly Carly) to join a biker gang would ever be a realistic thing, yes she liked riding motorcycles but in the case of bringing Icarly back. Her character is super important to it all. They had such a funny and beautiful friendship and I think making a revival where that character isnât there ruined the nostalgia and love a lot of people had for the original and their friendship! Which is why a lot of fans say âitâs not the same without Samâ and itâs rlly not the same without them being a Team.
I donât rlly see the revival as canon for many reasons including this one. And to each their own! But Carly and Samâs chemistry and history as friends really made the show what it was.
(Add on: let me give Freddie his credits as well lol, he was a huge amazing part of the show as well but this post is about Carly and Sam. AND I know Harper was not there to replace Sam and the writers actually did a good job of making that clear which I liked! Harper is a very good character. But it still wasnât the same)

Other Discussion Was Spencer irresponsible?
Spencer was always setting things on fire. If I had a brother like that I would be parenting him.
Why did Carly's parents let her live with Spencer despite how irresponsible he was? She had the webshow yeah which she did with Sam and Freddie. Being friends with the mean girl and nerdy boy was a lot better than having a brother who starts fire. Freddie's mom was just as bad not irresponsible but overbearing. No wonder Mr. Benson probably left she's crazy. Carly's like thirteen so I think she can help take care of Spencer too.

Original Discussion Do you guys think Icarly should have stopped after season 5 (or 4 on Netflix)
I personally was not a big fan of the last season (season 6) I thought other than the one direction episode, I get banned, and pear store all the others were very pointless and boring. (THIS IS MY OWN PERSONAL OPINION) not only that the actors were getting old I think they were all 20 by the time the show ended. Season 5 had great episodes such as the First Lady and if they made it a longer season it would have been great to end if off there with the igoodbye. Thoughts?

Other Discussion Did "Mission Unstoppable" Get Canceled?
Finally woke up before 4:00 PM on a Saturday, so I thought I'd check out Miranda's STEM show. But it wasn't on!
So I pulled up CBS's weekend schedule. It's no longer airing at 11:30 AM. Did they decide not to renew it? And if so, how am I supposed to get my Miranda Cosgrove fix?
