Announcement Kaiserreich 1.7 - 'Crossroads of Civilisation'

For centuries, Afghanistan has stood between worlds, bridging the east and the west. From the outside, its land holds great strategic value for both armies and merchants, yet internally, its people are in conflict. The nation came out the other side of the Weltkrieg relatively unscathed, and won further accolades in the Fourth Anglo-Afghan War, unifying with its countrymen previously under Indian rule. But what it has become cannot continue, as its people must choose between further social and political reform and preserving their links to their forebears and traditions, all the while keeping an eye on the growing influence and manipulation of interested Great Powers.

This release includes the Kingdom of Afghanistan, in an expansive and all-encompassing update that brings full content to one of the few remaining countries in the mod without it - but of course, that is not all.

Moving through Asia and ascending the Himalayas, we revisit the Kingdom of Bhutan, the small mountainous realm itself dealing with its own internal struggles. Building extensively on the unique gameplay of the previous Bhutan content from five years ago, this rework sheds new light on and explores in further detail the inner workings of the court of the Druk Gyalpo.

And naturally, it goes without saying that this large release also includes multiple wide-reaching changes to many other aspects of the mod, such as new leaders, updated character formatting, extensive performance changes, careful rebalancing, and plenty of new portraits and icons for you all to enjoy.

For the mod as a whole, this release marks another step forward on our long-stated goal of having unique content and focus trees for every starting country in the game. Considering new content and reworks, several countries are currently being worked on simultaneously, with some closer to completion than others. And while we know you are hungry for even more new content, we hope you enjoy this trip to the heart of Asia, for at the crossroads of civilisation, there are many roads to take...

Submod Third Belarus Monarchy Submod Teaser

Back with another teaser for my Belarus Monarchy submod. It will probably be the last teaser, unless I decide to make another one if I'm not satisfied with the finalization; however, I am mostly done with the main two focus trees for it. This teaser is about me giving a brief summary of the paths in the submod.

The Generalgouvernement is an interesting path to me in base Kaiserreich, but sharing the same focus tree as Astroŭski's path is kind of boring to me. I know, I know. Astroŭski's government handles civilian affairs while under Werner Kempf, but I did decide to change it. Failing to contain the Hramadist uprising and allowing Werner Kempf and the German military mission to coup the government will unlock a new focus tree. It is short and simple, giving new focuses and events. “Purging the Old Government” is when Werner Kempf decides to fully remove Astroŭski and his government entirely, putting Belarus under martial law and making the path feel much more doomed in a sense, at least that’s how I envision it. I see the Generalgouvernement path as a fail state of sorts, and that’s how I choose to represent it. You'll be stuck with the National Identity debuff, and stability will be the biggest issue for the path. You do get three free divisions from the “Bring in Reinforcements” focus, which grants two Sturmdivisions and a Panzer-Division. The “Future of the General Government" focus will be the point at which you can continue with Werner Kempf, granting a few buffs to himself and allowing you to access the Industrializing Belarus decision tab and dealing with the Mass Illiteracy national spirit (if you don’t finish either of the focuses that handle them as Astroŭski at first before the coup.) Or you can establish a monarchy and start the real part of the submod.

The monarchy path is also straightforward and simple; there is a constitutional monarchy path, which starts off under the authoritarian Democrat "National Democratic Union," which is a big tent of various populists, conservatives, liberals, monarchists, etc., who wish to restore democracy in Belarus under the king. This path brings about new political parties to be created and elected once elections are held again. Allowing you to elect either the Social Liberal "Belarusian Labour Party," the Market Liberal "Belarusian National Liberal Party," or the Social Conservative "Belarusian Christian People's Party," or the incumbent AutDem party. Instead of having a focus tree for each party, they'll instead be represented by national spirits, which grants certain buffs to the nation depending on who wins the election.

Now for the autocratic path, the kingdom starts off under the Paternal Autocrat Royal Council, primarily made up of German and Belarusian aristocrats who filled the void once the military government stepped down. Everything is dictated by the Council, who still ultimately serve German business and military interests in the country while still attempting to build a legitimate government and identity for Belarus. The Council is in a loose agreement/coalition with the newly formed Integralist movements, who are more rabidly nationalistic and corporatist while believing in the king's right to rule (to their own vision, of course). While minor in power, they can grow their influence, which can result in a putsch later on after some time, allowing for the National Populist Integralist Bloc to take over.

You will also have an economic and military branch under "Build up the New Kingdom," which gives more factories, infrastructure, and other buffs like consumer goods percentages and construction speeds and also unlocking the Industrializing Belarus decision tab and dealing with the Mass Illiteracy national spirit (Like before, if you didn't complete the focuses under Astroŭski). The military branch is more so free military factories, adding in older German equipment such as infantry equipment, artillery, support equipment, panzers, fighters, etc. And some anti-air buildup through the country. The "Shield of the Reichspakt" focus gives a few buffs to the army, most notably the division attack and defense bonus against Russia.

There is still much more to be done, much more to discuss, and hopefully I can get this done! I know this has been all over the place, but I hope you enjoyed and am more than willing to answer any questions or hear suggestions!

Discussion If Latvian Bolsheviks can reintegrate Poland and Finland into Soviet Union, shouldn’t USLR be able to too?

As Latvia Soviet Union you can core all lands of former empire, but centralized USLR cannot even claim it. In OTL there were a plans of forming Polish and Finnish SSRs in different periods of Soviet history. So shouldn’t centralized USLR be able to annex them without getting cores?

Question Why did France and the British exiles exchange their colonies?

Why did France ceded its Caribbean colonies to the West Indies Federation and the British exiles cede Sierra Leone and Gambia to France?

I'd imagine holding onto some at least nominally "British" territory would be rather valuable to the British exiles, these colonies are hardly going to be more obedient to Algiers than a colonial government in Free Town.

conversly, the French exiles are willing to torpedo the Halifax conference if it means they get to keep their claim on Alsace Lorraine which they lost some 65 years ago by the time of Kaisereich but are willing to cede perfectly manageable unthreatened loyal French territory to the West Indies federation?

like this just does not make sense to me, beyond an out of universe explanation of "it'd make the borders look nicer and consolidate the French Exiles to one region."

Discussion How would you change Foster and Browder?

The depictions of William Z. Foster and Earl Browder in Kaiserreich are often criticized for being too different from what the two men were actually advocating for in real life. If you were in charge of WCA development, how would you change Foster and Browder and what would you do with the totalist path?

I mean in terms of the main political cause, afterwar results, size of destruction, economic and human losses and overall impact on culture, politics and history

P. S. It doesn't have to necessarily be “Germany = evil attackers, Russia = good communists, Britain+France+USA = good democrats”

Submod Made a submod for KMT and JAP puppet Vietnam real quick

Post image
17 Upvotes

I was kinda sick of KMT puppet Vietnam's capital staying in Hue instead of Hanoi (it's not like they need the palace or something), so I made this mod that:

  1. Renames KMT puppet VIN to Republic of Vietnam (越南民国) and moves its capital to Hanoi;

  2. Renames JAP puppet VIN to Empire of Vietnam and stole some random flag from Wiki for it. Also, player JAP get to choose the leader of VIN between Bao Dai and Cuong De. AI JAP will always choose Cuong De.

Here's the link to the submod: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3819696510

It's not much, but feel free to like or subscribe if you find it helpful. If it does get a few subscribers, I would probably make more special puppet VIN for other tags or make falvor content for Laos, idk.

Other I wish to create a submod, yet i dont know how to continue

Vagueposting aside - I wish to create submod adding more music for Ukraine - it's my favourite tag in the entire mod. And yet in spite of having 20 soundtracks I feel there's room for much more.

So, I have collected about another 2 dozens soundtracks in OGG format, from UPR and Zaporizhian Cossacks eras, but I'm a big dum dum and dont know how to create a music mod, let alone one that would properly work with KR, and I dont have much experience with modding either. And the more guides I look through for creating an in game radio station the more confusing it gets.

(this is one of my attempts at slightly modding the files because i was bored having gone catastrophically wrong, NSFL, NSFW, NSF our collective asses blah blah blah you all have been warned)

So, here am I, stuck with 2 dozen soundtracks and no idea what to do - any help would be appreciated.

(Also, probably unnecessary but for formalities I am going to ask anyway - can I make this submod, dear KR dev team? and any assistance from you will be deeply appreciated)

PS: this might be more fitting for discord server / r/hoi4modding , kinda late at this point though

Question Why do Kaiserreich AIs never do Force attacks, Last stands, etc. Unlike in vanilla?

I know some people find them annoying, but at this point, KR content is just child's play to me. Enabling that would give more challenges on wars. If it's too anoying maybe you could make it not too annoying by say, the AI only using them upon the start of a war, longer cooldowns, less buffs, etc.

Another question: why can't you also capture generals?

Art WCA flag in the style of the Internationale

Post image
59 Upvotes

What it says on the tin.

Banged together an alternate WCA flag that's a riff on the tricolor of the other syndie powers. The current WCA options are fine, but I figured it'd be nice to see one that fits with the rest of the Internationale. Couldn't really do a sideways version since that'd basically just be either the flag of the Commune or Syndie/RadSoc Russia.

Anyway, enjoy!

AAR Red Italy takes her place at the top of a Red World

Thumbnail

So I decided to play through the 2WK as Red Italy after uniting the Boot as it.

I took a while to actually enter the war (typical Italy) because I thought that it would screw up my coring process, but France lost Paris and I jumped in immediately afterwards to open up more problems for Germany. Italian forces flooded into the former Austrian lands, taking over large portions of them. Munich fell early into the war, eventually followed by Vienna and Hungary.

From here, I got stuck in a pattern of losing and retaking areas repeatedly until the Russians got their act together and I was able to intrude in Saxony (though I somehow lost it and the divisions that were in it without even noticing anything was wrong) before the Reichspakt collapsed. Czechoslovakia died soon after, then Germany itself. France took the Rhineland and established the Germany puppet there, so I broke up my Germany into South, North, and East.

After that, I went and killed the Belgrade Pact (Yugo and Romania, who'd already annexed their claims in the A-H collapse) since I'd justified on them before. Everyone else jumped them at the same time, so it was a joke. After that came the Entente lands in Africa, meaning both Sandfrance and the Provisional Government of Germany in Mittelafrika since they'd joined. It was as slow and boring as you could expect, but the WCA killed Canada so I didn't have to deal with that. I annexed Djibouti and puppeted whatever I could, with the rest of the African lands gaining independence.

I have the weakest military industry and strongest civilian industry of the 3 main 3I powers (ignoring puppets), though that industry is backed up by massive imports of French coal since I have massive deficits there.

The world is dominated by the Reds now, with only Japan and China possibly able to pose a threat against us if they got their acts together. However, our front is splintered, as the Russians and Americans have betrayed L'Internationale to establish their own blocs. Who will come out on top? Well, I don't feel like going to war on this file again, so who knows...

AAR Absolute Micro Gauntlet as Manchu Coup Qing

First war against Zhili Sichuan. Set up three army groups. One to rush Sichuan VPs. One to defend the supply line to the first. And one on the border with Fengtian when the inevitable surprise invasion happens.
Without doubt the most difficult war in the game. Put my micro army to the coastal border in Shandong. Rushed south when the war started, then just rushed VPs (and afterwards camped my divisions on them). Picture taken right before LKMT capitulated.
Was able to do full democracy during all this.
Two separate micro groups for Shanxi. One to Taiyuan the other to Yan'an. They capitulate when both cities fall.
Federalists have previously defeated RKMT Yunnan. Let them march a bit before attacking from the side.
Fall of Guangdong
It's almost over...
All of China unified, right in time for Fengtian Invasion. Wansui, wansui, wan wan sui!!
