Managed to snag an $8 Functioning Game Boy, $13 for a SNES controller and two GB games, as well as two vintage PC titles. The GB has some vertical lines, but that's super easy to fix.

Boxy Pixel aluminium shell, laminated screen, brass buttons and custom CNC-cut brass lettering that I made myself.

Even the brass flash cartridge got a custom treatment.

I don't plan to mod my original DMG ever, because I want to keep it pure and unaltered. So if I wanna play in the dark, I'm gonna use what was used to do just that back in the day. Call it larping, but I just think it's cool

Finished my perfect GBA to daily drive. AGS-101 screen mod that I did way back when IPS screen kits did not exist yet, blue power LED, Funnyplaying everything else basically, shell, buttons, rubbers. Holographic stickers and glass. Also swapped my copy of Emerald's shell to one that matches the GBA, seeing as that's all I'm playing these days.

I found this game offered online and I cannot figure out what game it is. It’s driving me nuts. 😅Does someone know the game? All I can tell is that this is a game that was published in Germany.

Finally got my first gba, its an ique just because its genuinely hard to find a 101 that isnt an oque where i live. First image with games are the ones that work, sadly saves dont work on those that i checked, and second are that didnt work, luckily all but 2 came with the console so its fine, too bad to games i bought separately didnt work, but all other games i bought did work

Homebrew tape player for the GBA. You burn your favorite songs onto a cartridge, like making a mixtape, and carry it around. Rewind and fast-forward even make the tape noises.

The one in the photo is a live album off my CD shelf. Runs on a stock SP with a flash cart.

Before anyone downvotes me for not doing a google search first or not just installing an IPS screen, I’ve already researched IPS mods and screen replacements. 😅

I’ve had this GBA SP AGS-101 for over 20 years, and it’s stayed in the same mint condition throughout. Everything else works perfectly and still very playable. I just don’t have the heart to replace the original screen with an aftermarket possibly fake panel, especially when the original hardware is still functional.
Donor consoles for AGS 101 were rare and ever since retro gaming boomed donor consoles became more expensive

Is there anything else I can try to restore or improve the original screen?
I’d love to hear from anyone who’s dealt with this on an original AGS-101. I’d much rather preserve the original parts if there’s a reasonable way to do so.

I know it says it won’t work would roms but technically wouldn’t it? Like with a gbamini flash cart? Or maybe trade from a GBAMini cart to an official GBA FireRed then to the switch?

hello! today I got Boktai for the Gameboy advance and the first thing I did was replace the batter, however one I screwed the screw back in the plastic on the shell turned out to be brittle and the screw post broke! Does anyone know of any good quality replacement shells or a way to repair it? thanks!

Just picked this up today after wanting it complete for some time. Going to be my first ever playthrough! During covid I experienced Secret of Mana for the first time and it has since become my favorite JRPG alongside Chrono Trigger. Anyways all this time years later even collecting Gameboy I had no idea with the final fantasy games on Gameboy that this was actually the first game of the Mana series! (I thought it was part of the final fantasy legend series or etc)

I’ve recently gotten real big into collecting older Nintendo consoles and i’ve always wanted a GBA, now i’ve finally got one and it’s sick as hell! (it’s obvious not an original it’s refurbished but it looks so cool)

I picked up this Game Boy Pocket for around $3, but the motherboard is missing one of the battery contacts, and the ones in the shell are stuck in place and have some corrosion on them. How can I replace them? I know I could probably just replace the back shell, but I’d rather keep the original one if possible.

Any tips or advice would be appreciated:p

Last week, I started playing Wario Land: Super Mario Land 3 on original hardware and after just a few days, I am blown away by how good this game looks, how smooth it runs and how much content it has. And it make me seriously think that this is not just better than Super Mario Land 2, but may be the best gameboy platformer.

I’ve had my original Game Boy for over 30 years, and it’s still with me today. Unfortunately, the screen has seen better days and is pretty faded, so I think it’s time to give the old thing some love.

I’m looking to buy a new backlit screen and install it myself. Ideally, I’d love something slightly bigger than the original screen, if possible.

There seem to be quite a few options out there, and I’d really appreciate some recommendations from people who have done this mod themselves. Which screen would you go for? Any kits you’d recommend, or things I should watch out for?

Im having a weird difficulty with my gba sp. I recently got it passed down from my grandma and it has quite a few issues if any of you know how to fix it. One of them is that the charger light lights up for a second then instantly disappears, I've heard that it might be a battery problem but the next thing is the weirdest thing about it. When it does turn on I can't use any volume or it'll crash and reset the gameboy. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated ❤️‍🩹

Hi everyone! I’m releasing version 1.0 of my English translation of Shin SD Gundam Gaiden: Knight Gundam Monogatari for the Game Boy.

The patch translates the dialogue, menus, item descriptions, and instructions, as well as the opening, title screen, and Super Game Boy border lettering.

I’ve played through the game and manually reviewed the translation. The English reads naturally, and I haven’t found any bugs so far. It’s also been tested in Game Boy and Super Game Boy modes, including password compatibility.

You’ll need your own copy of the Japanese ROM and a BPS-compatible patcher. No ROM is included.

I’m considering this release finished for now, but feedback is welcome! If you encounter any issues, please share a screenshot and details about where they happened.

I really thought a turn-based bullet hell game would end up like a mix between Superhot and Into the Breach, and it turned out I was pretty close. If any of you have the time, I just released the completed GBA version of a game idea that's been floating in my head for quite a while.

I have a demo up on itch, and a paid version if you vibe with it. It has been getting a decent amount of interaction, so I updated the demo to include more levels and a full "run" as thanks! No generative AI was used with this project at any point, just good ole blood and tears. Had some help from some IRL friends with the artwork I commissioned, their info is linked as well. I have a very specific mod idea for my gbc and I need this specific shell to complete my vision. I am planning on using the glacier blue button replacements from extremerate and combining them with the luminous blue shell because I think the colors compliment each other. The problem that I'm having is that funnyplaying doesn't have the luminous blue shell in stock and I'm struggling to find something that looks similar. Any chance there's a place I haven't looked yet or if I just need to find a whole different style?

I was also thinking about doing this to my gba sp instead, because funnyplaying has a similar shell for that handheld that is in stock, but then I run into the opposite problem where I can't find buttons that match the look of the shell, and extremerate doesn't sell the gba sp glacier blue buttons separately from the glacier blue shell unfortunately.
