Screenshot Sorry Pope Leo V., cancer is a bitch.
In my current run for the papacy, the reigning Pope Leo V. just received the cancer trait.

Anyone know how? Created antipope with previous ruler but now playing as their heir I'd like to support the legitimate pope and I can't find the option to do so.

So I took over the Netherlands as a Norse Asatru. Got an event to reform Asatru with no holy sites. If you're wondering it was a hold court event and the King of Sweden showed up worried about the spread of Christianity.
My question is this, can the Arch Bishop of Cologne actively spread Christianity in my held area? Or does it stay Asatru after I convert the county's faith?

Made a post about this abhorrent and blasphemous spelling error pre-dlc. The devs listened. Christ be praised. Long live Pope Leo.

Defending as the kingdom of Brittany against Conqueror trait France. None of my allies show up on time and when they finally do they somehow take more attrition than the enemy army in my own land. We beat them in five straight battles, captured Paris (which led to the capture of absolutely no one somehow) and yet still the war score sat at 45% because they’d captured two counties. But wait, here’s the best part, we can’t even take the counties back and win the war because for whatever reason the ai army is only made to retreat two counties over. They’ve lost over 10,000 men. I’m sorry but this is fucking ridiculous.

Guido's guiding light is definitely one the hardest ck3 achievements - in fact, i would say it looks the most daunting and took me the most amount of theory crafting. Therefore, I'll save you the trouble and present my simplified, cheesy strategy that requires minimal effort
Step 1: in character creation, make two custom characters: 1. pope (female if you want) with at least two sinful traits to ambrosian (at game start these are vengeful, gregarious, arrogant, gluttonous, though if you mess this up change ambrosian rite to fit any possible sinful traits the pope has). this is needed for the antipope decision 2. HRE emperor with ambrosian rite (IMPORTANT!!!), preferably with cisalpine culture and some good traits like compassionate and forgiving to stabilize his realm. Make both relatively young to prevent them from dying early
Step 2: upon game start, immediately fabricate a claim on a county directly owned by the HRE empire (not his capital). This will take around 3 years and won't be interrupted by you being imprisoned
Step 3: lifestyle doesn't really matter, so choose according to what you lack (money/piety/prestige/military) i would still recommend resetting to get the entire health tree as age will be your ultimate countdown. Also, if ever you run low on gold, siphon funds from yourself, as it's very fast, and you can always reinvest it back into your treasury
step 4: pilgrimage to gain enough piety to remove excommunication. Making the pope agree isn't hard, especially if you lower their stats during character creation. If you are imprisoned, give a hook to bail yourself. You may also get an event during travels to ally yourself with Venice. IMO this is worth taking for that extra military guarantee in case someone comes for your land once you are landed, even if the event will put you into debt
Step 5: once you have the claim, petition the kaiser to grant your claim. Raise his opinion if you have to. You WILL need save scumming for this
Step 6: you are now landed. keep pilgrimaging until you are paragon of virtue. This should satisfy four conditions needed for becoming antipope (head of rite, higher devotion than pope, paragon of virtue, pope has 2+ sinful traits)
Step 7: declare war on the pope. THIS IS A HOLY WAR, meaning every ambrosian and roman ruler can join on opposing sides. guess who is the most powerful ambrosian ruler on the continent? That's right, its our custom made HRE emperor! his 10k troops will decimate the pope and win the war for you singlehandedly. If you still dont feel secure and dont mind the trouble, you can change even more roman rite rulers to ambrosian during character creation to help this war
Once you win the war, the achievement fires, no extra actions required

I just bought this thing for 5g. I'm literally selling it in Tulaytulah! I can't even wear it because I don't have that as a holy site!
e: Just got two more from a single trip and sold both of them for 80g and 84g. Forget contracts, I know how I'm making my money this run.

So I was playing ck2 all good expanding my duchy wanting to get 51% do make my kingdom, then I found myself considering: then what? A empire, then what? Own the entire world, but then what? Max out technology, then what? Upgrade my demense build, then my vassal's buildings, then building new castles, new cities, new temples, upgrading these as well, then what? Wonders, but then what? I just realised this game isnt infinite, and this is really sad
I feel like I am wasting my time, knowing at some point I will look at any attempt of getting stronger just to find out I cant do anything else because I maxxed everything up feels sad, like, REAL sad, what is the point of this game? Getting to the top of everything possible then being aware there is nothing else that can be done to get even stronger, to stabilize even more the realm, or to get a mere 3% boost in light infantry sounds pointless
This game isnt infinite, one day the tech will max, the empty slots will be filled, the upgrades will be built, all possible wonders built, this game falls into a trap made for finite games

I’m curious how many people regularly use mods compared to people who use very little/none.
I will normally only use better barbershop, nameplates, or others that are small quality of life changes but I recently tried the ck3 game of thrones mods and I’m obsessed.

I love empires formed through decisions. Once I saw another player form the Kingdom of Heaven hegemony as the Pope I got obsessed with doing the same.
I just don’t know how to get land in Europe. I can demand church succession for some titles but that would require a lot of murders to get half of the christian realms as vassals. I also cant demand church succession for titles with elective succession such as the HRE.
Am I supposed to just Holy War muslims and convert their land until I get half of christendom as vassals?
Is this objective easier in 867 or after the great schism?

If I reform clergy to marry, can I also marry as a monk? I want to continue the dynasty but also become a pope who started as a monk

This is my no-reload CK3 Ironman run where I started with the HRE and tried to just expand my empire as soon as possible. I feel like I need more validation because I don't know if my empire would be considered "impressive" by the general CK3 community and I really don't want to be all hyped about something that isn't even that crazy. Some extra details: My run is currently 246 years, started at 1066 if I'm not mistaken. No reloads, had to take some hard L's along the way and it didn't feel good, but part of Ironman is knowing when to make hard decisions. Survived crises multiple times, pulled off some pretty good clutches and I think I governed my empire pretty meticulously. Changed the name from HRE to Deutsch-Römisches Reich and changed capital to Frankfurt, boosted capital development to +60, powerful vassal opinion at +30, factions fought and beaten. Idk i just need validation and honestly since I'm new to reddit i genuinely have no clue how ts works so idk if im even going to get responses. Anyway I want your honest opinions.

So, the son I had who wasn't on matrilineal lineage died, I had e, one before the alliance marriage one during and one after, the son that wasn't on matrilineal I had before just had to die from consumption like a weak little coward, and now It has lead me to a huge civil war as my players actual heir (I assumed I'd get to play as my son I had with my wife, but no it just ends your lineage) against the son I had with my wife who I had murdered to get a player as king, I managed to execute the non player haire son in a huge war, but the sneaky little bastard had a son during the war, my character died of old age and I had to depose the son of my old wives son as the last son I had, now I have no titles except king, the 5 year old is now trying to claim the throne and is as powerful as me because he inherited the stuff I spend a week earning in real time (made it all from playing as duke William of Normandy, it is now 200 years later), I am only earning 5 gold and I should've been earning 50. This game is such a headache at times, I may go and reload or restart and make sure I never select matrilineal lineage for an alliance marriage again.

I assumed since I was Hindu I would have Bhakti options but apparently it's two decisions, Bhakti and Patron Gods (they overwrite each other based on whichever s the latest)
I don't think this is intended, but sure whatever why not, while Hindu Filipinos worshiping Thor sounds silly, Germanic Christians having "Saint" Ulfr as their regional patron saint doesn't sound *too* bad. Maybe localizing it or filing off the barcodes would be better than removing this funny oversight.
