Housing/Apartments Help. Basically homeless.

You would think in a city this size there would be more help for people facing homelessness. I have called every number that 211 gave me, did assessment over the phone on Monday and haven't heard back from anyone. I've had many people (who have never been homeless) tell me places can provide hotel vouchers for a few days to people in need but I can't for the life of me find out if this is real or who to call. Does anyone have any information about this?

Just found out I'm like 4 weeks pregnant and I would really like to stay with my boyfriend if at all possible.

I have been out of work since getting into a car accident but I have a few job opportunities coming up, it's just close to impossible to go to a new job without being able to shower or have a place to use the restroom. Plus I have to get surgery beginning of November so I would have to miss at least a week of work and not a lot of places want to give someone a job when they immediately need time off. We have no where to sleep tonight and have no money. If anyone has any resources other than 211, Eden, pretty much anything on a Google search because I have called every number I could find online and there is no immediate help available. Last night it was raining and its about to be winter, I'm terrified right now.

Thanks for reading. Feel free to comment or message me.

I would even be cool with a room to sleep in at someone's house for a night or two. We are quiet. We keep to ourselves. We are clean freaks and just want a bed to rest our heads and a place to shower. If I can start working, I will get a motel room until we can find a more permanent solution. Thanks again.

Question Relocating to Cleveland area for work and starting a family - best suburb to live?

Hi everyone! My husband (30M) and I (29F) may be relocating to the Cleveland area if he receives a promotion. His work location would be either near North Ridgeville or Kent, depending on where they decide to place him.

We’re starting to explore different suburbs and would love recommendations on the best areas to raise a family while still finding a reasonably priced home. Ideally, we’d love to live somewhere with a cute downtown area, local restaurants and shops, and plenty of family-friendly activities to enjoy.

We’ve been looking into Strongsville and Streetsboro so far, but we’re definitely open to other suggestions. We’d love to hear about your experiences living in these areas or any other suburbs you would recommend.

Thank you so much!

Discussion What’s with the speed bumps on every other random side road

I’ve seen them pop up this summer all around West Park/Kamms and I’m kind of confused. I’ve been walking the streets these unnecessarily large speed bumps have been placed on for years and I never thought there was a habitual speeding problem. I’m confused why our tax dollars are going towards this right now… Does anyone have any insight?

Discussion First Energy Supplier Outreach

Does anyone know if First Energy solicits its customers via telemarketing? I keep getting phone calls supposedly from First Energy wanting me to “sign up” with them for a discounted rate. The caller has all my information (knows I have 2 accounts for two homes) and wants me to give them permission to access them which of course I said no. I recently switched my supplier to AEP with a 24 month rate at 9 ¢ kw. The original caller kept calling me back several times a day (all from 216 numbers) for weeks. Today someone called from a 614 number claiming the rate is 7¢ for the first month and then 9¢ infinitely. When I told her no she literally said “shove it up your ass.”

I did call First Energy when these calls started and they said they don’t make outbound calls.

Ironically today I had to do my company’s annual cybersecurity training so I was super vigilant about not giving out any information.

Is this a scam and what can they do with my electric account numbers?

Recommendations Looking for some friends

Hey everybody, I mostly lurk on this sub, but recently two of my close friendships ended and I wanted to put myself out there to befriend other people. Im 21m and I work as a TIG welder. My hobbies generally include playing with or talking about my cats, D&D/ttrpgs, hiking, and collecting oddities (bones, pelts, etc). Sometimes I paint or write but not often enough to call them hobbies lol. I'd love a buddy to hike with after work, maybe one day a week. Im really excited about halloween and have been going to haunted houses most weekends since they opened.

How is living in Euclid? Husband and I have an opportunity to own a home a few doors just south of Lakeshore Blvd within walking distance of Euclid Beach. It's well worth the money for the house but how is the current neighborhood?

We're in Washington DC currently but he grew up in Cleveland and I'm from more rural NE Ohio - snow and cold are baked into us already; we're very aware of mayfly and midge season. We have an infant to think of as well.

Just a former Ohioan looking at options and advice. Love some Gus's and Chili Peppers.

Question Canadian incoming law student: Can I live in CLE without a car?

I’ll spare you the boring details but I’m a 23yo guy moving to Cleveland to go to Cleveland State for law school next August coming from Ontario, and was just curious how liveable Cleveland is without a car? Im not entirely sure where I’ll be living yet but I’m trying to cut costs as much as possible considering this is an expensive time in my life lol . Hopefully I won’t have too much of a hard time making some friends without one

News Swagelok - RTO five days a week

I doubt that there will actually be any news released about this but Swagelok is implementing a RTO, five days a week starting this month. Less than a two weeks notice to those who have been working remote/hybrid for years.

They also waited until the month after their annual Associate survey to announce it.

FYI to anyone thinking of applying there for any office roles.

Recommendations Pottery Studio Reccomendations?

Looking to make some things out of clay & glaze pottery. (Not paint pre-made things like Paint-a-penguine).

Does anyone have some studio reccomendations where you can go in and have open studio time to make? Maybe have classes where you make a mug on a wheel or vase kind of thing? A good atmosphere & friendly people is a big bonus!

Im south of cleveland, so stuff in that direction would be ideal. Though willing to travel for a wonderful place.

Question Thrift/Vintage Market vendors in Cleveland?

Hello!

I'm starting to plan a thrifted/vintage clothing market out of Little Italy area on the East side of Cleveland. Right now the biggest obstacle is finding vendors who would want to rent a table and sell at an event like this. This post is mostly to get a feel if there's anyone out there on here who would be interested in selling at a thrift market, or if there's any general interest, period. I was thinking $50 for a table for the day of the market - is this an appropriate price?

If you know of any small businesses or people who would be interested or have any advice or anything please let me know. I don't have any social/website yet but it is currently in the works.

Edit: I'm not trying to promote as why I didn't include a business name or any specific details, just trying to gather info for planning purposes. I hope this is aligns with the rules of the sub

Recommendations Last-minute catering recommendations?

We’ve hit a potential snag with the caterer for an event, and we are looking for suggestions in case we have to change course. The event will be 90-ish people on October 24 on the west side. We’re planning to have a taco bar for dinner as well as a bartender to serve wine and beer.

Are you familiar with any caterers who might be able to help us?

Question Pungent Onion Smell Along East 79th?

• Upvotes

Every time I encounter East 77-81st there is an inescapable odor. It doesn't matter where I am north/south- I have smelled it on Cedar and East 79th, Carnegie and East 79th, and Superior and East 79th. This has been the case for months and I am curious as to what it is. I am thinking some sort of gas leak or sewer issue, but it smells exactly like BO/onions. If I lived right around there I would be pissed. I get annoyed just driving through. What is it.
