A Monster House in Lakewood Part II š«²šš«±
While driving down Madison I peeked over and saw this conniving smile behind the Doughnut Pantry plotting something sinister! A couple years ago a house on McKinley created something similar by adding giant eyes on the roof and teeth to the front porch! Itās such a simple but effective Halloween decoration! (Address: 1668 Onondaga Ave)

Any ladies late 20s/30s going to George Clanton at The Roxy on Nov 5?
Hey! I'm 32 and moving to the Cleveland/Lakewood area soon. I'm planning to see George Clanton at The Roxy on November 5 and would love to find another girl or a few girls to go with!
I'm really into electronic, vaporwave, alternative, and psychedelic music. Ideally looking to meet women around my age (late 20s/30s+) who are into similar music and would be down to enjoy the show together.
Would also be nice to make some friends in the area since I'll be new! Anyone going?

Magician/illusionist? Amateur?
I'm wondering if anyone around here knows someone or is someone who is an illusionist or magician and willing to prank some of my friends. I would obviously still pay for their time.
I'm hosting Halloween this year and I've recently learned that I will be having surgery the week after so I really want to make this party one to remember. I have a lot of different friend groups so I was thinking it would be funny to have someone come over as a "guest" but just be whipping out tricks the whole time until someone catches on.
I've been talking about hiring a magician for at least a year so someone will eventually.
Would probably be a great job for someone who is new and looking to test the waters with their tricks.

Side note: I assume itās ok to post the guest password but if anyone from Mahallās wants me to take it down just lemme know
edit: spelling

Healthy restaurants in Lakewood?
My moms birthday is coming up, and she wants to go to a sit down restaurant thats healthy, but she wants something new, so my normal Aladdins is out. I usually get the Arayes roll with extra cheese, so I'm not looking for something with -only- healthy choices. What else is out there that makes us both happy (but mostly her)

What are Lakewood streets named for?
I made a site to catalog the origin of every street name in Lakewood:
https://lakewoodnamedfor.nathannoll.com/
Right now, the only source I have is a 1962 collection of stories about street names but it only covers 74 streets, leaving 133 of unknown origin. Can you help me solve them?

2026-10-11-19:30 Over voltage from first energy
I have ting energy monitors on both my two circuits in my house, one each from two of the phases supplying my residential street (Roycroft Ave).
Each is showing 140-142 volts RMS at present, nominal is 120 +- 3 RMS. This started at 7:16 pm and - Edit - continued until about 8:53 pm, at which point it was resolved by first energy. Apparently reporting it as a full outage as was suggested by a reader below actually helped, that and perhaps multiple of us reporting it.
Can anyone else corroborate this? - Edit: it was corroborated by a number of people.
I called first energy to āreport an outageā (the only way to get a human on the line on a Sunday) and warned them they are supplying very old neighborhoods with energy well outside the expected specifications, and I got āsilent blinksā.
Them: āSo do you have power?ā
Me: āYes, far too much. A lot of old devices that donāt expect this voltage will fail with what you are delivering to these householdsā
Them: āso you have power?ā
Me: āuh, yes. But itās way outside the expected specifications. You could be destroying peopleās equipment.ā
Them: āyouāll need to call back 9-5 M-F to talk to someone in billing or (mumble mumble) about thatā
Me: āuh⦠you realize this could destroy millions of dollars of other peopleās equipment?ā
Them: āyouāll have to call back tomorrow during business hoursā
FYI: yes, electrical engineer here. I hope there arenāt a bunch of old devices with poorly engineered power supplies here in Lakewood homesā¦.
Iām contemplating popping the whole house breakers. - Edit: I popped all breakers for more expensive electronics to include refrigerator, oven / cooktop, computer, furnaces / AC. All my UPSā are screaming bloody murder as well⦠- Edit: and stopped as soon as power returned to normal voltage (but only one with very little load on it hadnāt already exhausted batteries and shut itself down)
Thanks to everyone for their engagement! This is really useful information to have collected!

Voting Solicitors
There are some people going door-to-door asking for voters by name to get them to vote today. If you try to send them away kindly, they will argue with you.
So if you get a knock today, it may be them.

Contractor needed to install range hood vent, 2nd story
Pretty much this. I have an 8" sidewall vent that needs to penetrate the exterior wall in my kitchen. That's it. I will install the hood and vent pipe, I just don't have a ladder. Can't seem to get any HVAC companies to do it and I've called quite a few. Any suggestions?

ISO specialty dry cleaner?
Hi neighbors!
Last weekend I was in West Virginia doing the unenviable task of searching through and cleaning out my aunt's home since she just died at 100.
Her son was there and we were mostly looking for fabrics because my mother and Aunt are quilters and the aunt who passed was also a quilter.
I am not a quilter so I was just bumming around, and I opened a box and found what appears to be a full kimono and obi. It was wadded up and shoved into a box about 8x8x8 in. It is a mess.
It's clean. It has no smell. But it needs (probably) cleaned and (definitely) pressed out and since I think it may be silk though I'm not sure, it's not something I want to try. I'm certain I will ruin it.
Has anyone ever used a good dry cleaner/conservator that they can recommend to me? I would like to display it on a wall so that it can be enjoyed by everyone who visits.

Sirens?
Is it just me or are the sirens out of control all day long? Does Lakewood cover any part of Cleveland emergency response, or the highway? It seems like I hear sirens all day long over the last couple years after starting to work from home.
Edit: I live near Roosevelt elementary school. Yes I know there is a fire station nearby.
What I meant by out of control is the volume of responses that occur during the day. I also started to notice the majority of the sirens I hear come from the fire SUV not even the ambulance or fire truck. What is the responsibility of that SUV and does it need sirens for every response call?
Iām also curious to know, and may even ask my councilman some of these questions:
-What is the call radius? Does the station ever take calls outside that radius? What is siren protocol? If the majority of response calls are from an elderly facility, could Lakewood station EMS there?
