Official Notice šŸ•Šļø Community Reminder: Respectful Dialogue & Open Exchange

Hey everyone,

We just want to take a moment to thank all of you for helping make r/AstralProjection one of the most interesting and supportive spaces on Reddit. Every day, people from around the world come here to share their stories, struggles, and breakthroughs — and that’s something really special. ✨

Lately, we’ve noticed a few discussions getting a bit tense or personal, so this post is simply a gentle reminder of what keeps our community strong:

  • Rule 1 – Be respectful. Speak to others the way you’d want to be spoken to.
  • Rule 9 – Share, don’t impose. Everyone’s journey is different — we don’t all have to agree, and that’s okay.

We’re here to explore together, not to argue about who’s right. Respectful debate is welcome; ridicule, sarcasm, or hostility aren’t.

A few people also asked about ā€œlow-effortā€ posts — just to clarify:
āž”ļø We don’t ban for that. Posts that are too short, unclear, or repetitive are usually just removed with feedback or warning. Offensive posts or spam are escalated.

Our focus is on keeping the energy here positive, open-minded, and mature, not on punishing anyone for sharing.

So keep posting your experiences, keep asking questions, and keep helping others find their way.
Let’s make r/AstralProjection a calm, inspiring space where curiosity and respect guide every conversation. šŸŒ™

With appreciation,
– The r/AstralProjection Mod Team

Introduction

Astral Projection, or an Out-of-Body Experience, or Near Death Experience, is the process of detaching consciousness from the body and travelling into non-physical reality; this reality is commonly called the Astral Plane. This is NOT the same as lucid dreaming; however, they are intimately connected; keep reading for various explanations of the difference. By using certain techniques and shifting one's awareness in specific ways, one can experience leaving the body, standing next to your bed and looking down at your physical body. From here, you're able to fly amongst the clouds, visit a different country, discover space, speak with other astral projectors or learn lessons from masters and guides who live in the Astral. You can discover yourself and the journey of your soul and learn new and objective information such as the history of our planet or possible future events. All of this is possible because the Astral Plane is commonly described as the 5th dimension of nature, which if you understand that in terms of raw science, you'll understand that it is beyond time and space. This sounds far-fetched at first, but in practice, it is perfectly understandable and it's a perfectly natural state and an innate ability that anyone can do.

Contrary to widespread knowledge, there are already numerous studies and tests to prove or at least suggest that OBEs is scientifically verifiable phenomena. Look up Graham Nicholls, who has had thousands of experiences, verified them with witnesses and is also being tested on; he is 100% objective and scientific in his approach, we hosted a Q&A event with him in our Discord which you can view here. Additionally, quantum physics is on the verge of understanding the multidimensional truth about the universe. Astral Projection is not paranormal and is not pseudoscience, it is absolutely natural phenomena. May we remind you that lucid dreaming was not considered 'real' up until around 40 years ago when enough scientific studies and media were surrounding it to finally be accepted into collective knowledge.

Furthermore, this topic seems to have certain stereotypes attached to it, such as the type of people interested in it - in our experience, you will find only that the most developed, intelligent and sincere people are those who are highly experienced. Those who are arrogant, egoic and uneducated are usually the ones who can be more delusional and inexperienced. Regardless, no matter who you are, even if you are sceptical or religious, anyone, from any walk of life, from almost any belief system, can achieve Astral Project. Thus your life, and your perception of life, will never be the same again - Astral Projection goes beyond belief, beyond anything one can imagine it to be like; it is one of the most authentic experiences that you'll ever have. It is not an escape from reality, but a unifying experience of a deeper, truer and intrinsic reality. It is not a dream, fantasy, visualiation or imagination. It is a full-on out-of-body experience in the true sense of the word; when it happens, you will know. This is Gnosis; knowledge based on direct experience, rather than belief.

A good introductory lecture on Astral projection can be found here.

The Golden Rule

If you want to learn how to Astral Project, you need to put in the work. You need to study the subject, read, watch the videos, get inspired, meditate and practice. Some are more natural at this than others, but regardless, anyone can do it; you need only to make an effort to master it like with anything in life. Practice makes perfect. It's the same as learning martial arts; you have to get up, go to the dojo, get to know the techniques, how it feels, and align them with your body and mind until mastered.

A Message To Everyone Who Is New

This link contains information about common misconceptions about Astral Projection, please read it:

https://www.reddit.com/r/AstralProjection/comments/ayq2zo/the_same_questions_keep_being_aksed_over_and_over/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x

Remember, Astral Projection is the process where one detaches consciousness from the body. By using certain techniques one can achieve the sensation where you leave your body, stand next to your bed and look down on your physical body. You take control of your energetic body (this has many names) and you are able to manoeuvre this energetic body wherever you desire. For the sceptics, we know how it sounds. But we promise you that it is very real and if you put your beliefs and speculations to the side for a moment and practice, you will experience it for yourself directly, which is completely different from what you could ever imagine, and will surpass all of your expectations (unlike a dream, which lives off expectation).

As to what Astral Projection exactly is, it is of little practical use to discuss this. You can, but you will see that belief and speculation is all in the mind. Whether it is a spiritual experience or a scientific one, all we know for sure is that it can be experienced. It can be done. Everyone can do this. Draw your own conclusion AFTER you Astral Project. Until then, you are just either accepting or disregarding the ideas of other people. An idea can be a tricky thing. It spread fast and if the idea comes from someone who never projected, and does not know what he or she talked about, then it can be a damaging influence.

As well as all this, please be sure to read our rules. They are in place for the respect, equality and benefit of everyone and in them hold core principles that this community values.

What's the Difference Between Lucid Dreaming & Astral Projection?

In their deepest essence, lucid dreaming and Astral Projection are very different. Just one explanation you can say is that dreams are an inward subjective experience of your own creation of infinite possibilities, but Astral Projection is an outward objective experience of actual planes of existence that have laws and limitations similar to the physical plane. Unlike dreams, it is a real and tangible place where you can interact with others. Sometimes though there are experiences blurred between the Astral and dreams and it can be difficult to tell the difference. And also the opposite of this explanation can be true whereby we can have shared dreams and non-shared Astral projection. Check out this post and the stickied comment there. There's no absolute formula to tell whether it's a dream or the Astral unless you are experienced, which usually comes after years of practice and honest introspection. What's important is that we learn from wherever we find ourselves in the non-physical; dreams can be just as, if not more significant and profound than Astral Projection, in terms of learning about your own personal spiritual progression.

Check out this video for a full explanation

Continue to check out our Wiki for further explanations, you will find so much useful information in the library of this subreddit. For example, here's a great post explaining: "Is Astral Projection Real or Not?"

Is Astral Projection Dangerous?

Where is the man that keeps telling everyone he never returned from the Astral Plane? How can he spread this message if he never returned? Among all the experienced Astral Projectors who have done it thousands of times, no one ever got stuck, got hurt, got possessed, got 'memory wiped', got reincarnated etc. This is all nonsense, ridiculous fantasies of the mind which derive from fear and fear-mongering.

Remember this well: Fear is a product of ignorance. People who don't have knowledge will fear that what they don't know. If someone shouts "DEMONS~POSSESSION~EVIL", it is very likely that they have no idea what they are talking about. There is nothing to fear but fear itself. Every experienced Astral Projector will tell you this. You cannot get hurt. You can fly straight into the sun and get out on the other end without a scratch. Actually, if you read deeply enough, you will find many Astral Projectors have come to the understanding that we all leave the body every night unconsciously anyway.

Can Anything Possess You While You're Out of Body?

You'll find a lot of misinformation and fear-mongering about this and it's mostly nonsense. Astral Projection is absolutely safe and natural. Read these 2 arguments from an Astral Projector's point of view:

1. The Astral body is connected to the physical body in a similar way that a radio is connected to frequencies. You can't have one without the other. PROJECTING implies one location to another, so two locations, not just one. You can be on the other side of the galaxy but still connected to your body. You can also look into the 'silver cord' about this.

2. The fact that we all Astral project every night unconsciously anyway implies that it is most likely safe since you don't really see anyone becoming possessed. In a sense, it's actually safer to practice Astral projection than it is not to, because at least then you'd be conscious of what you're doing and being influenced by at night. Of course, you can't really know whether we Astral project unconsciously every night until you become experienced yourself, but many authors will agree on this.

What is the Astral Plane Like?

Imagine the Astral plane as a place that has different layers, it is multidimensional. It is possible to travel between these layers. Imagine a very high skyscraper; every floor has its own characteristics, its own inhabitants, its own surroundings... its own vibration, frequency and energy.

The first floor is a place of lower vibrations, close to the Earth. It's likely that when you Astral project for the first time this is where your first experience will be. The Astral Plane is a place you share with other humans who Astral project, but also with a lot of regular people that inhabit these planes as their primary home in the afterlife.

When we say low vibrations we mean a low form of consciousness. Not low as in stupid or lesser, low as in dark, restraining, limited. Fear for example is the product of a low vibration, and love is a product of a high vibration.

Check out this diagram and read the stickied comment there.

More on Fear

Fear is nothing but fear itself. It is not a danger to you, it is not a brick in the face. It is simply a feeling that you can completely control and choose whether to feel or not. When it appears, just breathe and accept it. What you accept, you go beyond. Never let fear influence you. It is an undesired state that controls you; instead, control it. There is nothing to be scared of. You can encounter a scary experience, so what? Alright, that was scary, but that's it; an experience. You will get used to it and get over it, and new and more enlightening experiences will follow.

Now to speak more spiritually (sceptics keep your pants on); there are many types of inhabitants or forces in the Astral that can assist you in coming out of body. They have been commonly called guides, masters, angels, spirits etc. Regardless of their labels, they are authentic beings that want you to help you. Your compass to attract them is a sincere and open heart. They have much to share about life, the universe, existence and so forth. These beings are of a highly positive nature, ask them for help and they will. They have your best interest in mind and will teach you many things you want to know. Remember, the Astral Plane is the 5th dimension, distance between objects do not exist, a simple thought or feeling can attract a 'helper' who will come in no time. With this said, many will be sceptical of whether such a thing is possible; that's fine. There is no need to believe in such things. However over time and experience you may start to understand how it is actually possible. It's all about keeping an open mind.

An IMPORTANT Message to Everyone Who is Experienced!

We live in a time where Astral Projection is finally reaching the masses, slowly but surely! We can be part of the initiation of so many new people. The only thing it requires is patience and wisdom.

This sub is not like other subs on Reddit. It is not about being an overly active sub. It is not about posts that receive a lot of upvotes. Its function is not to entertain, it is to teach, with an occasional laugh.

We truly see this sub as a library. We collect as much information as possible and make it available to everyone who walks in. It is a library of development, and in the hallways of the library, people are talking about all kinds of subjects. Sometimes related, sometimes a little less related to what the library offers. Who cares. It's not about the conversations in the hallway, it is about the collection of wisdom that the library offers. It is about the people who walk in and have no idea what is going on. It is about teaching as many people as possible what this all is, how to experience it, and collectively, as a species, discover this next aspect of life.

It can be very frustrating. We know. The number of new people who come into the library shouting and screaming all sorts of things grows by the day in this world of controversy and illusion. The flow of new people entering will never stop - that is a fundamental fact that makes this sub what it is. There are a lot of online forums that have only a few experienced Astral Projectors, but this is the most popular virtual space there is with many wise and experienced members, and this, therefore, implies important work and provides purpose for those who are experienced; to help other souls realise their potential is one of the most beautiful gifts you can give to others.

You can do 2 things:

  1. You are annoyed with the new people who visit our library and you decide it is too loud and you leave.
  2. You see a group of new people walking in the library and sit down, smile, listen to the ridiculous things they have to say from time to time, and even enjoy it sometimes, and say, "Alright, now sit down and let me show you how it actually works."

Everybody has to start somewhere. It is the internet, reflective of our dear human race's collective chaos. Every single kind of person on the planet is represented here. Take that into consideration. Be patient. Try not to be so uptight with gatekeeping. Everyone is welcome here to learn and discuss. Try to see the bigger picture. How long this sub can exist depends on how many people it can help and benefit and how we help each other as human beings.

There is not much more than we can do than present all the information in an easily accessible way as we do already. People will always be lazy and ask the same question as we all know. Answering can be boring, repetitive and annoying sometimes. However, we will never stop. We believe in spreading this knowledge to everyone and we hope you do as well.

If you have the knowledge and you know how to Astral Project then now is not the time to hold onto that knowledge privately. Now is the time to HELP. Humanity is in a state that NEEDS help. So many people are on the verge of awakening. If you know EXACTLY how to project, then you know EXACTLY what a beginner needs to know. The core reason why this subreddit has thrived for so long is that there are special souls here who have been helping others. Share what you know, teach, give guidance, share your wisdom. Only good can come of this. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain. Those of you who are already helping, you are noticed, and you are truly appreciated šŸ’›

A couple of Buddhist quotes summarises the philosophy of this subreddit well:

"Our visit to this planet is short, so we should use our time meaningfully. Our prime purpose in this life is to help others. And if you can't help them, at least don't hurt them."

"Thousands of candles can be lighted from a single candle. Happiness, knowledge and wisdom never decreases by being shared."

General AP Info / Discussion Does anyone else become intensely sexual during astral projection?

Lately, or in the past year, I’ve had very strong sexual drives in the astral plane. It’s interesting because in my waking life, I’m not a very horny person. I’m not, or I wouldn’t say I’m asexual. I don’t think I’m asexual. But it’s not something that I tend to imagine will lead to an enjoyable outcome. So I kind of avoid it, but I’m working on that.

Anyways, I want to better understand why this happens, and I’ve heard that, or read someone mentioning that it’s a sort of test or challenge that a spiritual person has to undergo to explore the far-reaching planes of the astral universe by overcoming this base sexual urge. And I don’t know whether that’s necessarily correct, but it does make me wonder, and I have felt bad after my experiences, when sort of regretting the fact that I resorted to pleasuring myself instead of, I don’t know, going down a space or exploring something more unusual and magical, I guess.

One of the earliest instances of this that I can recall is when I astral projected at my partner’s place while he was away. When I exited my body, I immediately felt desirous, so I called in and tried to attract or manifest something to have sex with. I wanted it to be my boyfriend, and something showed up, which felt very neutral, had very neutral energy. It didn’t feel like it was eager to engage with me, but I was eager to engage with it, so I mounted it, and it kind of had some sort of a rod thing that went inside me, and I orgasmed.

I felt a little bad after, like maybe it didn’t want to do it with me, and I sort of raped it, but it had such a neutrality to it that perhaps it just didn’t mind what happened at all. Maybe it didn’t get anything out of it.

And the thing is, I don’t really know what the astral realm is, if it’s a real place with sentient sovereign beings, or if it’s all a place in my mind. Even if it’s somehow a bad thing that I’m just doing sexual things there. And if it’s real, is it dangerous? And if it’s not, what does it have to say about my psychology?

Another instance is when I projected at my partner’s again. And the reason it happened at my partner’s again is because I feel particularly safe in his space to be in the spirit world, because he has consecrated the space from entities of dark and ill intent. I don’t really know how strong that spell is by now, but it might just work.

Anyways, of course, the desire was there, and I was by his window, and I was going to go outside, and this fae appeared, and I felt very attracted to her, but then she bit me, and she had these really sharp spiky teeth, and I didn’t like it. It felt like a malicious tease.

So I casted her away somehow, or she flew away on her own means. I don’t really remember this one so well. I just remember being excited that this beautiful fae girl was there and that I had enough desire to try something with her, but it did not end up going well. I feel a little guilty about that.

Other times I’ve just masturbated, like laid on the floor, masturbated, and it felt amazing, just so amazing. Even when I don’t exit my body but I’m in that state, I can just imagine myself just curating the sensations with my mind, like lucid dreaming them happening, and it’s felt amazing.

I do want to talk about a recent experience that has left me pondering if there’s something wrong with me, though. And I want to share it because I hope that I can get some insight from others, and I don’t want to tell anyone else I know about it.

The story is, I projected very recently. It was spontaneous, and of course the desire was there. And I guess the desire is just this knowing of how enjoyable sexual pleasure is in this realm, how open I am to it, how powerful it feels compared to the real world.

In my waking life, it’s such a challenge for me to have an enjoyable experience. All the insecurities that I feel and the various struggles I have with it are just not… they’re not there. And I just have this full force of desire that once it touches a living being that is at least willing, it feels so amazing, and that is just incredibly tempting to me considering how difficult it is for me in my waking life.

So I’m out of my body, I’m in my room, and I go into the main part of my house.

My roommate.

I feel interested to go to my roommate’s room just to see her. We’ve been friends all our life, and I felt like she would be a good person to do it with because she’s so beautiful, and I like her so much. And perhaps maybe I have this sort of unaddressed attraction to her, and one that I don’t really want to address because I cherish our friendship, and I don’t want to potentiate the complications of romance with her.

So I go to her room and she’s in her bed, and I’m basically somehow telepathically telling her, ā€œHey, I really want to have sex with you. Are you down?ā€

And she’s very neutral.

And then I look to her side where her unspoken self is there, and I ask her too, and I’m like, ā€œAre you down? Is this okay if I do this with you?ā€

And she says yes, quite meekly, but at least it’s a yes.

So I go in with her, and she doesn’t really try to do anything. She’s just open, and feels amazing. But for some reason, her nipple was extremely hairy, like a really bushy pubis bush was on her nipple, and it really was, like, gross to me, but I tried to put it off.

And yeah, it felt really good, but it didn’t really lead anywhere because that was distracting to me, and I felt guilty, like maybe I was assaulting her. But maybe I wasn’t because she could just be a figment of my imagination. At least I hope that’s the case. Hopefully this had no real impact on her.

However, I have been feeling sort of ashamed.

Which reminds me, this wasn’t the first time. The first time was when she was in my room, and I did it with her. I don’t remember how much she wanted to do it in that case either. And I don’t remember if it even felt good. But I felt guilty about that time as well. I think it was quite brief, and then I ended up exploring outside our house.

But yeah, I’m curious if anyone else has this sort of polarized situation. And I’m curious on people’s take on this sort of extreme sexuality situation. Like, should I just get over it? But at the same time, it’s very satisfying to myself.

But I do worry if it’s harmful to myself or these entities or my friend, if it’s real, a real spirit world where my friend is, that’s her real spirit, and I’m somehow hurting it. I hope not. It makes me feel like I’m assaulting it or something.

Successful AP first time astral projection!!

hello!!! so I am kinda new to astral projection and I have been studying it for roughly the past week or so, but I’m clearly still a beginner.
I would like to share my story on how I astral projected on my first try, and maybe I can help some others, or people could tell me if what I experienced was truly astral projection, or give me some tips, as I didn’t get that far :(
so first I went to bed an hour early, and I laid in bed (on my back I heard it helps) with no music, no phone, just a fan and my physical body :3
then I slowly felt a tingling sensation in my knees, hands, and feet, I tried to remain calm and I slowly started to feel myself spinning when my physical body wasn’t moving at all, I then slowly started using the rope method, and I think it worked! I slowly lifted up out of my body, it was like something I have never felt before, I felt myself rising up, but then all of a sudden I got too excited, and I thumped back into my physical body :)
Im just so happy I made it so far <3

Need Tips / Advice / Insights Humor me for a bit

• Upvotes

Ive read about wild things happening in ap. Ive reached the vibration stage 3 times but pussied out of all them to successfully AP. So to my incredulous mind its still a subreddit fiction. Until i succeed that is.

Are there any subreddit like communication methods or archive mechanics that can only be accessed in the astral. As opposed to a fucking subreddit where people can lie.

Can people who do not have a perfectly decaled pineal gland and a clogged body with metal in it astral project.

Can people who use caffeine AP even if its once a week.

Can we visit astral realms that help us tap into perks of existence(health, luck or even the ability to move with abundance)

Question on How to AP Help from the Astral World

• Upvotes

Hey! I am just hoping to know, have any of you guys dealt with an issue on earth such as needing to have a question answered but there really was no way to know so then you took to the astral realm? If so, what beings there can help with getting people their questions answered? And if you have, how accurate is the information from there that I want to take back with me to earth?

Thanks!

Need Tips / Advice / Insights I went to a yoga sound bath tonight and had the craziest experience that I can’t stop thinking about

Okay, so I went to a yoga sound bath tonight and I genuinely don’t even know how to explain what happened. I’ve never experienced anything like it before, and I just want to share it because it was such a beautiful but emotional experience.

For context, I have a very vivid imagination. I can literally play things in my head like a movie and see things that aren’t actually there, but I know it’s just my brain creating images. During the sound bath, we were lying in different positions, and every time the instructor played a different sound or instrument, I would see a completely different scene in my head. It was almost like every sound brought me somewhere else.

My intention going into the class was to feel unbothered because lately I’ve been feeling a little lost, kind of sad, and like little things have been bothering me more than they normally would.

Before we started, the instructor had me pick a card from a deck, and it said, ā€œI have an optimistic but realistic expectation for my future.ā€ I didn’t think too much of it at the time, but looking back, it’s interesting to think about alongside everything that happened during the class.

The first sound: Floating in space

For the first sound, I was lying on my left side with my right leg up. As the instructor played the sound, I saw myself floating alone in space. Like, completely alone.

While I was floating there, I had this realization about being alone that made me SO sad. I literally started tearing up. Then a mirror appeared, and I was looking at myself floating in space, alone.

I remember trying to block out all the thoughts and noises coming into my head, but I just kept sitting there by myself. It was such a strange feeling because I wasn’t physically seeing any of this, but in my head, it was so vivid.

The second sound: The willow trees

For the second sound, I switched to lying on my right side with my other leg up. As soon as the instructor played the next sound, the scene in my head changed completely.

I saw myself walking through a field with willow trees next to what looked like the gorge I grew up in. I couldn’t see my face, just the back of my head as I was walking.

I was alone again, but then my brother and sister appeared, and I suddenly felt whole. I sat with them for a while, and it felt so comforting. But then they disappeared, and I was alone again.

This time, I was a little more okay with it. I remember thinking, okay, I’m alone again, but it’s fine.

The third sound: The ocean

For the third sound, I was lying on my back with a pillow placed between my shoulder blades, so my chest and heart were the highest point of my body.

And this is when everything changed for me.

I saw myself sitting on these black rocks beside the ocean, watching these insanely blue waves crash against them over and over again.

For some reason, this time I was completely at peace with being alone. I wasn’t sad. I wasn’t waiting for anyone to show up. I wasn’t looking for anything else to happen. I was just sitting there, enjoying my own company.

I remember thinking that I was exactly where I was supposed to be and that I was happy. I felt so calm and so free.

I started crying AGAIN because it was such an overwhelming feeling of peace. I don’t even know how to explain it. I was literally just watching myself sit by the ocean, alone, and feeling completely content with that.

The fourth sound: Driving by the ocean

For the fourth sound, I was lying flat on my back with my palms facing up.

This time, I saw myself driving down a road alongside the ocean with my friends. I could picture specific people, and I was happy. Everything felt good.

And then, all of a sudden, I was driving alone.

But I was STILL happy. I was still at peace. I didn’t feel like anything was missing just because I was alone.

The final sound: Everything coming together

Then the same music from the very beginning started playing again, and this is the part that really messed with me.

I suddenly felt like I had died and was watching my entire life flash before my eyes. I saw myself floating in space, walking by the willow trees, sitting by the ocean, and driving down the road.

It was like I was experiencing all of those places at once. I had this overwhelming, almost out-of-body feeling, and my eyes filled with tears.

I just laid there taking it all in.

There was also a moment during the class when the instructor adjusted my back and put pressure on it, and I suddenly realized how stiff my back was and how much tension and discomfort I was carrying there. That was a whole other experience in itself.

I genuinely don’t know what to make of any of this. I don’t know if my brain was just processing emotions or if there’s some deeper meaning to it, but it felt SO real and so emotional.

The biggest thing I keep thinking about is how I went from being alone in space and feeling devastated by it, to being alone by the ocean and feeling completely happy and free.

I’m actually pretty comfortable being alone in my everyday life, so I wasn’t expecting this to affect me the way it did. But it almost felt like I experienced the difference between being lonely and genuinely being happy with myself.I have lived alone, moved to a new state and have been single for over a year now so it’s nothing new to me but maybe I’m overthinking it!

Has anyone else ever experienced anything like this during a sound bath or meditation? I’m especially curious if different sounds have ever brought up specific imagery or emotions for you, and what you made of it.

Successful AP Second AP experience

Hello everyone,
This night was my second time getting out of body after 10 days, this time however I didn’t mess up by opening my real eyes and seeing 2 views for a second before being back in my body.

This time I intended to see, and I opened my eyes in my mind rather than my physical ones, and the more I felt and walked around my room I saw it, however it wasn’t night? At least it was all clearly visible. Then I wanted to visit someone I know, I kept on thinking of going there then their whole room was blurry and all I saw was them wearing brown (which was beige not brown she confirmed in the morning when I asked).

However when I tried to scream in that room I was back in my own body screaming and felt a hand on my back while in sleep paralysis, so ye I messed it up again.

What should I try out in astral any recommendations or tips? Thanks

General AP Info / Discussion I keep encountering other versions of people I know during astral projection. Has anyone else experienced this?

Almost every time I astral project and I encounter someone I know, there has been another copy of them that is different.

The first experience was when I was very new to projecting, and I exited in my childhood home, where my sister and her boyfriend were living at the time. It was late at night, and I walked from our dark hallway to the kitchen. I was looking out my window, our kitchen window, and the trees were glimmering with blues and purples, and they were so, so tall.

And I was wandering just a tiny bit further until I felt this horrible, intense energy. And to my surprise, there was this demon-feeling creature who looked precisely like my sister’s boyfriend. But he was sort of taller, like he had been vertically stretched out. And his eyes were glaringly wide open. He was just staring at me, completely silent, completely still, but emanating this potent energy of evil.

It startled me, so I just snapped back to my body and woke up, and I was quite surprised, while also not so surprised, because this boyfriend, I had noticed, was a very depressed and angry person. And their relationship was not well, and there was this festering darkness within him, and within their relationship, which I had caught on to very quickly once I met him.

It felt like there was this extreme weight that he was carrying, and my sort of knowing in that moment was that this is something that had attached to him. That it was, was like gripping him, with these sharp claws, and just imagining these giant sharp claws, just, like, with this death grip on his shoulders and his chest, his heart, and all over him. That sensation was how the presence of this being felt when I encountered it. Knives in flesh.

Another experience is when I projected in my current home. I used to have this roommate who was very troubled, very strong social anxiety, panic attacks, an alcoholic, very, very hard on himself, very, very hard on himself, always, like a self-degrading inner voice that was apparent through the little comments he would make about himself or the frustrations that would express in his tone.

He was honestly good looking—he had great features, but the way he felt about himself made him feel weird, and he felt weird in himself.

Anyways, when I projected, I went by his room and looked into it, and he was pacing around, sort of like this light, innocent kind of boy he was, sort of curiously moving about his room.

Next to him was also him, but his hair was styled, the clothes he was wearing were cool, and it was almost like him, but a more stylized polished version of him, which was totally the style he had, but more as if he put effort into himself, with a sort of pride.

And this version of him was really prideful and had this kind of bitter vanity, and he was following him around and just demeaning him, condescending him, judging him.

In that moment, I had this knowing that this was his idealized version of himself that was torturing him.

And something that’s pretty spooky is one night we got drunk, and we were just being really open with each other, and I shared about this experience. I told him I saw him next to him, and I didn’t say much more than that, and he said he was like—he had this, ā€œOh yeah,ā€ moment, like, ā€œI know exactly what you’re talking about, and I’ve seen him too.ā€

And the tone and the energy, the motion, when he went on to explain it, just felt like he knew the kind of malisciousness of this being.

I don’t remember too well all that he said, but it seemed like in the moment, and I felt in the moment like, ā€œWhoa, this must be real. Like, are we talking about the same thing?ā€ It seemed like, from what he said, that it lined up perfectly.

It’s pretty scary, to be honest. Im feeling a tickly spookiness just remembering that moment.

Now, my most recent experience with this is when I went to my roommate, my new roommate’s room. She was on her bed, and next to her was also her, but it was a tender ghostly version of her.

She was like a monochrome lavender and light blue. She had white hair and foggy eyes, and she was very shy and soft-spoken.

And I just knew that this was—this was her hidden self. This was her truthful self, her unspoken self. And I knew that if I asked this the main version of her she would give an answer that somehow deferred to my feelings. But if I asked this other version of her, or this part of her, it would give me her most true, honest, unwavering response.

this was the part she was hiding.

And something interesting about this encounter is the following day, I was tidying our home, and she has this blanket that she likes to lay on a lounge chair that we have, and I don’t really like this blanket. It doesn’t match anything else in the room, other than the fact it has some red on it, but the aesthetic of it, to me, really clashes with everything else.

So I was putting it away because we had some guests coming over, and I just wanted to make the space feel nice.

And she came out her room. She was like, ā€œWhat are you doing with this blanket?ā€ And I told her I was going to put it away, and she very frustrated took it, and she said, ā€œWell, this is my blanket, and I want it to be here. You can’t just be the only—you can’t just… This is my space too, and I like to see my things as well.ā€

And I totally knew what she was talking about. I have a tendency to move things around and put things away that I don’t like and make a lot of decisions as far as decor on my own. I don’t really agree with her aesthetic and interior choices. They can bother me, so I just will change them.

And she’s never directly said anything to me about it. And she was very angry when she expressed this to me this time, and it’s interesting that this happened right after I had some contact with her unspoken self.

~
I’m curious if anyone else has this experience or can share their insights/thoughts on this phenomenon…

Was This AP? Some type of astral trip or interdimensional thing

Some type of astral trip on my sleep

I don't know what's happening to me but this year one night I couldn't sleep at all. It was three in the morning and I started to feel strange and suddenly I see all black in my mind. I think I was in another dimension and I met there with a man that was waiting for mem I was very happy to see him and I think he is my soulmate. After that I was so happy that I didn't want to come back here. I told him I want to be here I hate it down there. I felt absolutely happiness then I feel someone was pushinf me back or bring me back to my body. I woked up very sad and upset to have to go to work again. I never felt anything like that before but many strange things are happening to me now. Does anyone has a similar experience? I never practiced astral trips and I don't know how this came to me. But I am connected to a man and he may be doing these things as well to find me

General Question Seeing another version of myself. Has anyone experienced this?

Yesterday I had a projection where I saw myself in the mirror. The mirror was oval shaped in what looked like a restroom. I saw myself as tho looking in the mirror at myself. I looked a bit different but same age. The feeling I got was that I was seeing another version of myself inside a parallel reality where I exist. I’ve had many projections where I’m looking down on myself but inside the same reality which I’m guessing would qualify OBE, but this one was different in the sense that I knew it was me but I also knew that it’s from a different subjective experience

Was This AP? I think I was a master at projecting when I was a kid

I have been trying to astral project for the past 2 years with no success but reading some of these storied it reminded me of my childhood. When I was young up until high-school I would stare up at the corner of the ceiling and watch the shadows grow and move until my body felt like I was on a swing set going back and forth. Then I would close my eyes and watch the stars, colors, patterns, faces etc from my eyelids and sometimes the light my eyelids created would be so bright id have to open them to re adjust. Then I would have what I thought or might have been lucid dreams where I talked to or had run ins with "demons" they looked normal until I saw the smile that was too fake and big. They always wanted to play games to scare me and the only way to get control of the situation was to choose the game or out weird them. Never choose hide and seek btw. Sometimes I had positive experiences like going to my backyard and seeing the sky be a color I havent seen here yet or experienceing the future. But during high-school it was to much to have to deal with puberty, school and bad spiritual experiences and I asked god to take away my gift and not give it back for my own good so I think that might be my block. I didnt have anyone to teach me about how to protect myself I only had my instincts and I think I could have a better experience now that I know more. But what do you think was that just my twisted nightmares or could there bee something more?

Need Tips / Advice / Insights i saw a familiar cup, and then it disappeared :(

from my dream journal:

oct 12th: still dont really remember dreaming but i remember being in somewhat of a hypnagogic state and i saw my girlfriends water bottle on the dresser in front of her bed, and when i tried to focus on it it disappeared right away and i woke up fully. not too sure why, i didn’t get excited or anything, but i felt 100% aware and KNEW i was physically in my own bed at home, and not at my girlfriends.

it’s been years since ive been able to get to a state like this. i used to be able to get into the vibrational stage quiet often but fell out of practice because i couldn’t ap after years of trying. this experience sparked my drive to keep going again

Question on How to AP How long should I keep trying to separate from my body during the vibrational state?

Hi everyone!
I’ve been practicing astral projection for a while now, and I’m happy to say that I’m no longer afraid. I actually feel pretty brave and excited about the experience!
I can reach the state where my body feels completely asleep while my mind stays awake pretty quickly.
Once I reach that state, I start imagining myself floating out of my body or climbing an imaginary rope. However, I still haven’t been successful.
My questions are:
How long should I keep visualizing myself floating or climbing the rope?
Should I keep trying for several minutes, or just relax and let it happen naturally?
Am I supposed to feel something specific before attempting these techniques?
Does anyone have tips that helped them get past this stage?
I feel like I’m getting closer, but I’m not sure what I’m missing.
I’d love to hear about your experiences and what worked for you!
Thank you!

Was This AP? Possible Astral Projection?

Hello all. I am unsure of my experience and really have no one to talk to about it that would understand.
I’ve always had some abilities that connect to some collective consciousness. My first lucid dream was when I was about seven or eight. Especially when napping during the day. And as I’ve gotten an older if I take a nap during the day, (which was like very rare)I have what feels like sleep paralysis. It feels like I’m getting sucked into some kind of vortex. I hear loud buzzing and feel a strong vibration. I get really scared and do everything I can to not get sucked in. And make myself wake up. I feel like I’m going to die.
It’s in a state between sleep and awake that this happens. Well, now that I have cancer i’ve been napping during the day a lot. The other day I had that feeling, as I was coming out of a deep sleep. I heard extremely loud buzzing and when I opened my eyes, I could see like bright electricity jumping all around. I was scared because it was extremely loud. But I just allowed it and told myself I would be OK. It looked like something ripping open in front of me, the electricity? And I was looking into a white living room with a beige couch and a coffee table. I tried to hold it and it faded. This morning I was woken up early and tried to go back to sleep and it happened again and this time I was looking at what looked like some kind of underground prison bathroom? I have no other way to describe it.
Sometimes while falling asleep I experience something that’s similar, kind of hard to describe, but it’s like I’m experiencing things through multiple peopleā€˜s eyes, really random pointless things and it happens really fast, same kind of vortex feeling, not as strong and I have no control, it’s kind of fun and it doesn’t happen often, but when it does, I actually really enjoy it. It feels like a ride.
I don’t know what this is. It’s not a dream. I am fully aware.

Need Tips / Advice / Insights astral projection

last night i tried to AP for the first time, im not really sure what im supposed to feel or how to know ive done it. last night i laid down in my bed( for context me and my brother are sharing a bed rn) i told him that i was going to try to astral project and he was nervous for me. i wasn’t scared because i really want to AP and truly believe its real. but i cant fully believe it unless i try. but i laid down in my bed my room was dark and he was asleep so i closed my eyes and focused on my breathing. there were moments where i felt like i was no longer in my body and that i was in my head, it sounds weird but this is what i felt like. then i realized that the black i was seeing from my eyes being closed was getting blacker, like a wave of the darkest black i’ve ever seen was taking over my eyes and then i swear for a second i saw i blue light come with the dark black taking over my mind. and then my brother moved and i was sent right back into reality. i tried again and after that i didn’t get the blue light again but the dark black was still taking over my vision. but i noticed that if a thought popped into my head immediately i was back into reality. is there any tips to having a quiet mind, or any tips really to AP im a beginner but i really want to be able to achieve this.

New to AP I just found out about AP and I'm open to all the advice

Here are a few questions:

  1. How long does it usually take to astral project, especially for the first time?

  2. Is it true that during AP you can meet other people who are doing it at the moment and other entities? Or is it just exploring your mind?

  3. Do I need to be laying down on my back and my limbs can't be touching or does it just make AP easier?

  4. Does my body phisically rest during AP?

I have tried to astral project once, but I somewhat have up (I guess I was a bit impatient at the time, but I can fix it). I wasn't moving at all, not even scratching, I was only breathing. I was feeling some "vibrations" in my arms (not literally were my arms vibrating, I don't know how to call that feeling so I hope you know what I mean) and it lasted a few minutes already so I gave up. I will gladly take any advice! By the way, I am already into spirituality – manifestation. Thank you for help!

Was This AP? Could this have been an astral projection

I had a strange dream recently and wanted to ask people who practice astral projection whether it sounds familiar.
I became partially lucid and realized I was on an island I’d dreamed about years ago. It had a main house, an outdoor area, and what seemed like a large party house.

In the earlier dream, it was nighttime and there was a party going on. I felt like I wasn’t supposed to be there, and the whole thing felt unusually real. This time, I was on another part of the island during the day. I couldn’t clearly see the layout, but I somehow knew it was the same place.

While I was lucid, I had a strong feeling that the island was a real place people could visit in dreams. I even felt like I knew its name and location, though I can’t remember either now. I also felt as if I’d been there many times before, even though I only remember these two dreams.

I know vivid or lucid dreams can feel completely real, so I’m not assuming it was astral projection. I’m just curious whether this sounds familiar to anyone who has experienced it.

Have you ever visited a place during astral projection that felt familiar or seemed to exist independently of your mind? If you’ve experienced both astral projection and lucid dreaming, how do you tell the difference?

Need Tips / Advice / Insights Does being bipolar prevent me from astral travel?

Hi. I am 24 years old boy. I intresting spritual thinks since 15. My bipolar medication is necessary for me to sleep. Stopping my medication is impossible. On the second day I don't take my medication, my senses become more heightened, and I can't sleep without it. Would it be sensible to try astral travel on the night of that second day? By the way, I'm a stable bipolar patient.
