I really really loved this webtoon! I was disappointed when the author quit ☹️ I was hoping that maybe it'll come back but it's been years now. And when the author gave a major plot spoiler I knew it was never coming back. Such a missed opportunity!

As the title says, I haven't been finding any good Romance Webtoons lately. I've been dropping Romance Webtoons left and right. It's surprisingly difficult to find healthy romance Webtoons without characters as bland as a piece of white bread. Even when the leads aren't, the side characters have as much character development as a rock.

I would love to get some good recommendations based on my favourites here (they are also my recommendations to you!)

I've only put my absolute favourites; there are others I enjoyed (Lemon Soda and Coffee, The Crown Princess Scandal,...).

I would like recommendations WITHOUT useless/bad love triangles, constant miscommunication, cold MLs and Mary Sue FLs. I've made a post about what I like and dislike in romance if you would to know more. Check my pinned posts.

I would prefer modern settings, but romance fantasy/historical is fine too. I'm okay with both Korean and non-Korean Webtoons and romance as a secondary genre.

Mine was True Beauty! I watched the K-Drama and loved it a lot. When I found out it was a webtoon, I had to read it since I'm a huge reader.

At first, I thought that once it's over I'll delete the app but then I just went down a rabbit hole of amazing webtoons and ended up reading so many. 😂

Read this. You will laugh, you will cry, you will have your heart broken. I reread this webtoon every time I go through a breakup, toxic or not. Its the ultimate webtoon for anyone in a situationship.

Especially in sub-plot Romance webtoons / manwhas. Mostly modern, I don't mean the classic tropes like rejecting femininity, being flawless, making no mistakes, or having everyone love her, NO. Give me the actual facts. What does a modern or non-cliché Mary Sue or protagonist propaganda actually look like to you?

Name - like mother like daughter

From ep1 we are shown the diff in relationship b/w the mother , daughter & son. And the way story make us hate the mother on 1st ep. For me atleast I was just sacred of Somin just like Somyoung as if everything Somyoung does make her mother caution.

But you know, when did I start loving Somin's character? It was when we were shown parts of past. I got so interested in her character from that time. The past was not something we can empathize with her rather the way she does things. It was not excusable & I enjoyed that.

Everything she possess about makes me so into her character. The relationship b/w her & gill (i don't remember the name 😔) was also nicely wrote. The only time I felt bad for both of them. That particular part really played on my mind for few days & I kept thinking who was actually right? From 1st ep I felt Myunjin didn't deserve to die but now seeing why she hates him so much was reasonable. She was forced to give birth, she wanted that promotion(it was promotion right??) really bad but couldn't because of delivery. All her hardwork got to vain just because she wasn't allowed to abort.[I am not saying Myunjin deserve to die too I was just understanding the reason that led to]

I think now I am not clueless as b4 like who she can kill or remove from Somyoung's life— now it feels I know what she is capable of.

Btw the friendship of Somin with sol was also peak . Not the friendship itself but how Somin slowly shows possessiveness & obsession with Sol. And the fact Somin still thinks about her . It's my favourite arc ig.

What's yall opinion on Somin character?

Cause I follow the author/artist and they haven’t mentioned anything abt it in forever. And they’re working on another story at the moment. Was just wondering if I should keep my hopes up or not

I've been reading webtoons since 2019 and, lately, I've been feeling bored of what webtoon offers us to read. I really miss the time when Lore Olympus, Subzero and other stories were trending. Now they are mostly displaying that same reincarnation trope set in fantasy/royal worlds with bad quality romance. Some webtoons such as Proof of Dignity, Daytime in the Bunker or The Classmate are rather great, but I like to read a lot so I never feel fully satisfied.

Would anyone have recommendations ? Stories that are more original ? I'd like to enlarge my palette haha.

This manhwa is EXACTLY what I needed as of late.

I was sceptical at first because of the many emotional clashes of the characters in the early chapters, but I stuck by because I was curious about the intentions that were foreshadowed.

That, and the characters are hot. Heh.

It is a well-written smut if you may call it.

Jus complicated characters in a complicated storyline. (Complicated jus for the name-sake because personally I found it simple to follow and enjoy.)

As the story progressed, it got me hooked. I liked the writing very much. The art as well.

I want more authors to make stories about problematic/complex/uncomfortable themes. We're lowkey deprived of it. Although, it requires risk.

To not be restricted by the moral principles of reality is what I praise fiction for.

It being erotica (believable) was what had me SEATED. Right on the cuck chair was I.

However, no justifications or moral compassing over here. Please. 🙏🏻 Something that is not new apparently.

I really hope the author isn't forced to hold back on the so-called "problematic" events because of the general audience who jus spits “they need therapy” or “nooo why is he this way” or “red flag red flag” at every opportunity they get. Lame ass.

Trust me, such comments are so unfunny, repetitive, unpleasant, and off-putting, which contributes absolutely no shit to the conversation.

And somehow they're the ones getting top comments for the same recycled thoughts on every individual chapter.

Ugh.

Almost like a circus you're forced to watch.

If this sort of story and themes aren't to your liking, please drop it.

The signs to what the story is about are almost always 99% there from the very beginning itself, yet I find people deep into the story spitting their usual "green-flag deprived" bs in the comment sections.

Sigh, I had to vent it out because I was lacking people who I could share my love for this story with.

from what i remember, the villain had an eye patch and a green eye, she also had red hair and sucked ass at her job

the hero on the other hand was like super good at it and so villain was like a minor inconvenience to her

hero also had vitiligo but she would cover it up with makeup when on the job

hero and villain would meet like outside of their true identities and would become friends/gym partners but they still didn’t know who eachother really were

I noticed that most official English translations westernize everything
They remove all suffixes and change it to Mr./mrs. Or something similarly equivalent
If the original uses hyung/noona/etc. It will not be translated as such but rather just say the name
Or endings with -ah/-ie are left out as well
I know it's not that deep, but it does give subtle context to how close or formal characters are being with each other
The surname name order is also changed
Instead of kim dokja it's dokja kim
It just feels wrong and does not have the same flow anymore
Especially if you consider how often characters call each other by their full name

I know that this is not necessarily a new thing
Back in my Manga days 20 years ago all Mangas were translated similarly
But at some point they stopped westernising everything and instead gave tl notes to explain what those details mean (at least my German mangas)
With manhwas it was similar
At some point they shifted to explaining hyung etc. And just continued like that and no one complained (as far as I could tell)

But in recent years they changed it back to the westernized version and it just irks me so much
It makes sense if the story is set in a western world like those victorian historical manhwas
But if the setting is korea, it doesn't make sense to force the tl into a western setting
Just give tl notes when needed
It wasn't a problem before, people are able to learn and you get a better sense of the meaning behind specific dialogues

I know it's just a small thing and I'm grateful that we get so many official english tls, but GOSH
When did we revert back to this tl style 😭

I hate that official novel tls are also like that
But it's more understandable because they are novels and the flow would be weird if you add tl notes in the text
(but also, there are novels in other languages that got English translations, where context was added in the back of the book. Like French novels I've read. For example Some French words were left untranslated and explained further in the back of the book. Or in some cases left unexplained and you had to Google the deeper meaning)

I'm unsure why translators or the company behind them lost their trust in the readers capabilites of understanding subtext
Yes ofc we have way more new readers now than we had before, but they are also able to learn and expand their horizon, right?
And even if they don't understand, the community is huge now and there are more than a few who are willing to explain stuff in detail if needed

Same as the title, what do y'all think? Both manhwas have such different premises and stories but I can't help but feel that they're somehow similar and I wanna see what y'all think.

I just finished Cursed Princess Club, and I honestly wasn't expecting to love it as much as I did !!!

The characters are all so interesting and one of my favorite things about this story is how they support and accept each other (especially gwen and her family and the CPC). Gwen was definitely the cutest character to me and I absolutely loved the Cursed Princess Club as a whole. This story ended up being such a lovely experience and I'm really glad I gave it a chance (a lot of ppl recommended it to me but was lazy to read it...)

Also, I'm personally not the biggest fan of open endings so I wish we could've seen a little more of what happens after the finale !!! I would've loved to see how Blaine and Maria's relationship develops, as well as Lance and Lorena's. I'm also curious about whether the king eventually forgives Leland and what kind of impact the Cursed Princess Club has on society in the long run (since everyone knows about them now)

I can imagine some of these things working out eventually but I would've loved to actually see them happen (again not a big fan of open endings...)

I've been reading this webtoon for a few years now. When I first started reading it, I really enjoyed the art style and the opening of the story. However, as the plot developed, it became a blur of unfinished storylines. The constant introduction of new issues and subplots made the story increasingly confusing to follow, with many of these segments feeling unnecessary to the main plot.

My second issue is how questionable Kade and Zayda's relationship feels on the surface. Sure, it's cute: a guy struggling with his mental health meets a beautiful, curvy, skinny alien girl who falls from the heavens and fixes all his problems. However, we already know that Zayda has been sheltered for her entire life. Kade is the only man with whom she has developed this kind of intimate connection, and she has spent the majority of her time on Earth in his dingy apartment. As a result, she has had little opportunity to develop meaningful relationships with other humans, particularly romantic ones. This makes their relationship feel somewhat forced, as though two people have simply been placed in a room together and expected to fall in love.

My third and final issue concerns the unanswered questions surrounding Zayda's importance to her planet. Why are they so desperate to get her back? Why did she suddenly grow horns? So far, these developments seem to serve little purpose beyond introducing unnecessary conflict to keep readers engaged. Furthermore, we know very little about her species' reproductive biology, which raises additional questions about their physiology and world-building. I acknowledge that the webtoon is still ongoing and will probably continue for a long time. Nevertheless, I feel that, as readers, we should have received at least some answers to these questions by now.

I think it's from 2010s, I'm pretty sure it was shoujo and tragedy genre.

It starts off with these three friends playing sports together on a sunny day, they're all wearing white tshirts and shorts. Two boys and one girl. The girl has brown hair tied back in a ponytail. One guy has orange hair and the other guy, who is shorter has dark purple/ blue hair and blue eyes. They're all having a great time and laughing together playing a sport (I think basketball). I think they were playing over summer before school term started. Then in the next chapter it gets really sad and the boy with the dark hair gets into an vehicle accident and dies. Leaving the two friends distraught, I don't remember much after that except they have to return to school and the friendship gets kind of ruptured with just the two of them now. There is a memorial at the school with the boy who passed away and his smiling picture arranged with flowers. The two friends, the girl and the boy with the orange hair are standing together (in the rain possibly) upset. There are both wearing a school uniform white shirts. Sorry that's all I can remember!

I find it chaotic and funny when the male lead is good friends or even has a crush on someone (can be male or female) and that person likes or is friends with the female lead which makes the male lead annoyed and he is bitchy with the female lead because of it. Manga reccomendations are great too but would love webtoon more please😙😙.
