Discussion Just completed Cursed Princess Club !!! Here's some of my thoughts about it 💖 (+ some of my favorite panels)
I just finished Cursed Princess Club, and I honestly wasn't expecting to love it as much as I did !!!
The characters are all so interesting and one of my favorite things about this story is how they support and accept each other (especially gwen and her family and the CPC). Gwen was definitely the cutest character to me and I absolutely loved the Cursed Princess Club as a whole. This story ended up being such a lovely experience and I'm really glad I gave it a chance (a lot of ppl recommended it to me but was lazy to read it...)
Also, I'm personally not the biggest fan of open endings so I wish we could've seen a little more of what happens after the finale !!! I would've loved to see how Blaine and Maria's relationship develops, as well as Lance and Lorena's. I'm also curious about whether the king eventually forgives Leland and what kind of impact the Cursed Princess Club has on society in the long run (since everyone knows about them now)
I can imagine some of these things working out eventually but I would've loved to actually see them happen (again not a big fan of open endings...)

This is actually where I first learned about the term incels. I remember being so confused what princels were and searching it up but not getting good answers because the proper term was incels. Went down quite a rabbit hole after that loll

Wait ik what incel means but didn't knw that it has anything to do with the princels lol
Thanks for clarifying things !!!!

Its a promanteau of the words "involuntarily celibate" l. Although its used as a word for perpetually online misogynistic types. Sorta like the fedora wearing "nice guys"

I wanted to see what happens next too!!! Kinda sad the author didn't do some bonus chapters...

I really enjoyed this story! I wish we had gotten more closure on all the romance pairings. Especially Prez and Whitney. They were the most interesting side couple to me.
I think at one point the author talked about doing side stories or more with it but it’s already a really long and I’m sure they needed a break after working on the project for years.
I have no idea what the author is up to now!

I wanted to see what happens between Maria and Blaine too and how they relationship will evolve !!!
Also Prez and Whitney were really an interesting side couple and I would love to see what happens to them !!!
Guess as someone said in the comments that the author was facing a burn out and wanted to end things quickly (?)
But still even if it took a year I would've waited for the side stories !!!!

I love Cursed Princess Club so much. It's one of the first things I read on Webtoon, and one of the few from that collective that didn't become a sunk cost falacy read for me. It's also one of the few webtoons period that I've considered buying physical copies of.
I love the art, and its simplicity when compared to many other titles that are so overabundant with details. I love the character designs, especially those of the club members. Also Prez is just so stunning.
It's really a series that has stuck with me. I don't think about it constantly, but I do think about it frequently. Its messages are still relevant, even in my 40s. It made me cry so much.
I don't mind the open endedness that much. Most things are wrapped up nicely, and there's hope for Gwen and Frederick's relationship. But it's also a spin on fairy tale tropes, and it makes sense that it doesn't end on a firm happily ever after. With so much of Gwen's journey being akin to dealing with mental illness, she still has so far to go. She's in a much better place, with an amazing support network, but there's going to be days where there's a slip backwards. And that's not a bad thing. The open ended nature of the ending feels very real, and I appreciate it for that.

I like the story and was perfectly fine with the open ending because it was practically known that the author was going to make a sequel to explore more things and properly wrap up loose endings.
I think my only issues with the series are that I wish it leaned 100% into the breaking and dismantling of common tropes within the fairytale genre. I know the series is very much about Gwen learning to love herself and gaining self-esteem but I feel like the story could certainly have expanded upon that more and given it more berth.
I'm also just not the biggest fan of the Gwen and ajamie romance because I feel like it's a step backward in the overall messaging of the story. So much of Jamie's story and initial interaction with Gwen is him being repulsed by her appearance and outright stating as such to her and others. Then getting together feels like a tonal mismatch and I think the story would have been a lot better if they remained as friends (doing so would also be going against a lot of classical tropes of the genre, which would have been fitting too).

Honestly? I feel the romance between Gwen and Frederick was one of the best parts of the webtoon, as the initial reason Fred thought Gwen was ugly was because of his own issues as a person, and the love they have for each other is also a sign of both of them's path to healing. That's at least how I interpret it.

Another Gwen x Frederick truther!
100% agree. I always thought a potential relationship between the two would have been better than Gwen x Jamie because Frederick was one of the first people (if memory serves me correct) to push back on Gwen's self-doubts and lack of self-confidence around her appearance. And I initially thought the story was going to lean into their relationship with Gwen working on herself and Frederick acting as a support/foil to Gwen's character arc.

But Jaime is Gwen's brother? 🤨

Turns out I can't remember character names. I meant the blond prince (Frederick) whenever I bring up Jamie and Leopold whenever I say Frederick.

For some reason they gatekeep the ending on the french version of webtoon. It's been years and we still have multiple episodes left. Translated but locked behind paywall and saying free in 392638 days

CPC was my first ever webtoon and it’ll always be so special to me! I found it at a time when I really needed it but didn’t even realize. I’ll have to reread it soon for old times’ sake.
Snow & Briar is an ongoing webtoon that has very similar vibes, if you’re looking for something to fill the void!

I’m ngl it wasn’t my cup of tea and dropped it pretty early on. Though I can’t recall exactly why that is. I think it just wasn’t my type of comedy.

Never read this one due to the artstyle. Is it a great comedy? Should I give it a shot?

It's sooo good !!!
The story is interesting, and the characters growth is one of the best. I was lenient to read it due to the artstyle first too but when i got into it I couldn't stop bcz I needed answers !!!
Definitely worth it !!!

This is one of my favorite Webtoons. I bought the print releases and plush. I really love how things played for comedy in early chapters are played for drama in later chapters.

The ending very much felt like the author was burnt out on the story and just wanted to wrap things up as quickly as possible. That being said, I still love the comic! Frederick's character development was my favorite, I hated him at first and by the end I was ready to adopt him lol.
