Discussion / Question Best horror game you've ever played?
Alan Wake 2 for me. On a replay right now and I genuinely can't think of any horror game that has topped this for me. I never thought I'll get a whole cinematic narrative experience while getting horror. And the musical mission was so peak. Remedy has the balls to experiment instead of copying the usual blueprint fr. That musical part was so unique and original.

Discussion / Question Wolfenstein: The New Order has the kind of writing, pacing, performances, and direction that rival the best cinema has to offer Spoiler

I love how much this scene manages to convey in such a short amount of time. BJ wakes up after 15 years in a coma and finds out that pretty much everything he knew is gone. The Nazis won, the US was nuked, the resistance has been crushed, and he has no idea what happened to the people he fought alongside. You can really feel the weight of all this settling in.
And Anya's mother is so good in this scene. There's this tiredness in her voice, a kind of vulnerability and frustration that makes you feel like she's been carrying all of this for years (especially when she talks about the fall of the resistance). She doesn't need some big dramatic speech to get the point across, as the way she speaks does most of the work.
And what an awesome character (developing) moment that BJ doesn't just sit there feeling sorry for himself, as by the end of the scene, he pulls himself together and goes downstairs to question the Nazi officer, hoping to find some clue about the resistance. He's just been hit with the reality of how badly everything has gone, and yet he's already looking for a way forward. That's BJ for you. What a fucking awesome character.
And then there's Anya's father casually putting on a record before BJ heads down to the basement. It's funny in a really dark way, it almost feels like he's setting the mood for what's about to happen down there.
All these little things make the scene so good. The dialogue, the performances, the pauses, the way people deliver their lines, the pacing. Nothing feels overdone, everything just feels genuine and believable. I think it's exactly the kind of direction that makes this feel less like a typical video game cutscene and more like a scene from a genuinely great film.
But... it's also an INCREDIBLE shooter and honestly one of my all-time favourite games.

Discussion / Question I went a full year without gaming - I don’t think it did me any good
I last played in October of 2025. Some personal stuff happened in my life and I had to put down the controller for a while. I thought since I was going to be forced into other hobbies that it would improve the social aspect of my life. It did the opposite.
I didn’t realize all the benefits gaming gave me. Not only does it get me out of my head, but it allowed me to spend time with any of my friends from around the world no matter where I was. I tried to get into other hobbies, but my work schedule didn’t allow me to participate fully. Instead of forcing me outside, quitting gaming only cut off one of my main sources of socialization.
I still go out once a week with friends, but since I had to quit I couldn’t help but feel an empty pit inside of me. Like something was missing. I honestly got so depressed without it that I had to start taking medication.
Yesterday I decided to pull the trigger and buy a new PC. It set me back almost 2k, but for the first time in a year I feel comfortable with my life. I didn’t clock how much gaming meant to me.
I’m also not some sort of shut in, I have friends and a BF, but I’ve come to accept that video games play a really important part of life, and if that makes me a loser or a nerd or whatever, I own that.
My point is that not only did quitting gaming not improve my life, I really believe that it made it actively worse. Just thought I would put that out there.

Discussion / Question Onimusha: Way of the Sword’s combat should earn game of the year consideration.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword has been a blast to play so far. The combat is challenging but fair. The bosses are intimidating but within reach. The game introduces new mechanics as you progress, making the combat always feel fresh. The rush when hitting the Issin timing is unforgettable!

Discussion / Question Video Games that should be remade or remastered?
We've entered the era of video game remakes and remasters, so it led me to think what games you would like to see get that treatment?
At the top of my head are the early God of War, Silent Hill (I know SH2 has been remade) and Prince of Persia games. I missed them out the first time round, and it seems that the only way to play them is to go on the second-hand market, and the prices can be extortionate, especially the Silent Hill games.

Discussion / Question Good RPGs to play "blind"
Hi,
I just finished Clair Obscur. Due to a recommendation, I played it completely "blind", so without using the internet. The game was challenging at times, but it never was frustrating and I always had the feeling I could do it on my own and made do with stuff I found naturally. And it was fun as heck.
Yet I feel often RPG games give a fear of missing out, where you can miss important stuff you need or you have a very bad time, look up hidden weak spots of bosses or can t easily understand mechanics and screw up builds. Final Fantasy 10 gave me this feeling as every area had missable stuff, bosses had convoluted reflection tactics and you needed special hidden weapons to break damage caps.
OG FF7 was completely possible blind. So were all Pokemon Games or Mario RPGs.
So TLDR;
What are great RPGs you can and should definitely play blind, without being frustrating? (PC, Switch)

Discussion / Question Video Game Common Sense Auditors
My coworker and I shoot the shit a lot about how our job needs a Common Sense Auditor. That every time there is something that just doesn't make any sense, you can complain to a 3rd party about it and they will review it.
After playing GoW E-Day it got me thinking that there are some issues in the game that should not exist in 2026. That humanity has been making videogames for far too long to still be making these mistakes. Im not here to critique the story or the creative choices. I want to be the guy that calls out the "Did they even think this thru"
Checkpoints BEFORE unskippable cutscenes or walk and talk segments.
If you play as a standard human character and you are surrounded by allied standard human characters. Enemy NPCs should not run past your allies and target you explicitly just because you are the player.
Removing simple, non game changing features from previous games just because "?"
Retconning canon and ignoring all common sense purely because you want a "origin of that random item story"
If the Host is playing on Hard. And random players can join and set their own difficulty to easy. You either need to award the host player for playing on Hard or create a menu toggle that forces players that join onto the same difficulty as host.
This is a blue print after playing Gears Eday for a couple weeks. Do you think something like this could become a hit

Discussion / Question What game did you expect to be scary, but just wasn’t?
So I do love me some horror, mostly action horror but I dabble in others now and then. I’ve played quite a lot.
There were times I played some of these where I’m really wanting that terror. I’m playing with headphones in a dark room, in that mindset, butt clenched and ready for the cold sweats to come and have instead found myself going “oh, that’s it?”
What was that game for you? I’ll give 2 examples with 1 that will get me in trouble lol.
Dying light 2, god I wanted to love this. DL1 to me was terrifying, the night mechanic made
my
butt pucker so tight I’m still crapping slim Jim’s. But DL2 was missing kind of everything that it needed to be spooky
Resident evil 7. Maybe I hyped myself too much, maybe my expectations were too high.. not only did I not enjoy this game very much, I found the family to be… cringey, not scary, borderline goofy.
What are yours? Also I am freshly basted if you want to roast me
