Funny Wolverine lost best game of September, voted by PlayStation players

How about we celebrate a really awesome game winning instead of poking the other game over it?
9
u/andocommandoecks 11h ago
Because this is reddit, celebrating one thing without dragging down another seems to be physically impossible for most of these people.

You're the weird one for getting this defensive over a videogame
1
u/VenerableWolfDad 10h ago
Has nothing to do with the game itself. If your idea of enjoyment is using reddit to troll people you need a job or a shrink or both.
-1
u/foolproof_flako 10h ago
Idk man. Only takes me a few seconds to get them upset. You ask me, it’s a pretty good use of my time.
1
u/VenerableWolfDad 9h ago
Grow the fuck up man. Some day youll look back on this and cringe at yourself. Might as well make it now.
-1
u/foolproof_flako 9h ago
You think I’m gonna look back at Reddit comments? lol that’s all you big bro
0
u/VenerableWolfDad 9h ago
Do you think that "looking back" literally means looking at something with your eyes? Fucking idiot on top of needing therapy. Great mix.

Sorry sorry. ‘Thinking’ about Reddit comments. That’s all, you big bro. Didn't realize I had to specify what I meant to you. Your brain is obviously so big!

Oh wait, there's a whole genre of media dedicated to laughing at other people. It's called 'comedy '; idk if you've ever heard of it. I guess all comedy fans should just grow up. You caught us!
5
u/andocommandoecks 11h ago
Comedy is supposed to be funny though, you seem to have missed that step.

Makes sense you'd break down crying and double posting over being called weird with these opinions.
-3
u/foolproof_flako 13h ago
Double posting? Are you in middle school? I had more to say after I hit 'comment ', I didn't realize that was a crime. You sound hoeless.
9

K weirdo
0
u/foolproof_flako 13h ago
Loll. You are in MS. Weirdo as an insult is the laziest thing ever. Hate to break it to you, but the 'weirdos' are the ones who made your Wolverine game that you can't get out of your mouth.

Control Resonant was absolutely trash for Reddit-gamer-chuds.
A pretentious mess of bad gameplay, horrid level design, and weak storytelling.
If you liked it, you are a “being of badness”. You like bad things because they are awful. It’s your identity
10
u/DjPavlusha 9h ago
eh, weak bait. If you wanna troll remedy fans you gotta be smarter abt this bruchacho.

u/StartTheMontage 13h ago
It’s so sad how happy some people get when a game doesn’t get amazing reviews.
Why do they want things to be bad?
31
u/Inevitable_Tea_6824 13h ago
Misery loves company. The game isn't even bad just lazy in some areas.
4
u/DesperateSmiles 13h ago
The game deserves a lot of shit for the QTEs alone. I cannot understand the point of putting those in a game if everything turns out fine whether you do them or not.
5
u/Fr0zenNova 8h ago
I never understood why Wolverine gets hate for its Qte's but I haven't seen any hate for them in Dawnwalker(they have Qte chopping wood, pouring tea etc)
Not saying u think it's fine just in general it really just screams Wolverine is Sony so its bad or a youtuber told me it was bad.
3
u/Yorgen89 7h ago
If you don't press a button to chop wood in Dawnwalker, Coen doesn't chop the wood. That's the difference.
0
u/DesperateSmiles 8h ago
QTEs are stupid, but what's even dumber is actually putting them in your game and not having consequences for fucking them up.
3
u/zakary3888 12h ago
Cinematic ones turn out fine I think, boss battle ones don’t
5
u/andocommandoecks 11h ago
Can confirm this. And I don't actually hate it, getting game overed because I was trying to watch a cutscene instead of press buttons with the right timing sucks
-4
u/thedebatingbookworm 9h ago
Respectfully, That just sounds like you sucking at games. Get better
2
u/andocommandoecks 9h ago
I honestly just play better games, PS2 era had plenty of QTE garbage, it's kind of shocking they're still a thing people apparently want.
0
u/thedebatingbookworm 9h ago
On that we can agree. I hate QTE’s, one of the only games where I genuinely enjoyed them was Metal Gear Revengeance
2
u/foolproof_flako 13h ago
I think when it comes to game development, lazy and bad do get interchanged alot. That being said, you cannot excuse a game by saying 'its not bad, its just lazy'. idk, just doesnt really work.
1
u/Romeo-Charlie-6-28 3h ago
They're hating it, because the internet told them so. Like a fuckin sheep.
1
u/KleitosD06 13h ago
I think it's more so that people like feeling vindicated with their opinions. A lot of people don't like the new Wolverine game, so they share & like pieces or articles that express similar opinions.
-2
u/Cocoatrice 13h ago
Or maybe, you know. People aren't complacent trolls with zero standards and want to voice their dissatisfaction at slop games, so the future games won't be like this shit? But what would you know about quality...
5
u/andocommandoecks 11h ago
If they really don't want slop games then they need to go harder at the devs getting busted generating assets with AI (or openly embracing it) and spend less time dunking on a game that was fine but a YouTuber told them not to like it.
-2
u/EmbarrassedEagle9921 3h ago
The game is not fine, you just have low standards, nobody needs a YouTuber to tell them shit smells like shit
1
u/andocommandoecks 3h ago
Nah, it's fine. Worked as advertised, angry knife hand man was angry and carved people up with knife hands and it didn't overstay its welcome. Literally all it had to do, it's baffling that people expected more. My standards are fine.
1
u/EmbarrassedEagle9921 3h ago
Yea people did expect more from a 70+ dollar game other than a glitchy interactive movie with bad storytelling that last 15 hours AT MOST
That’s how I know your standards are low, you acting like this game is acceptable for the price they put on it just shows how low your standards are
God of war ragnorak cost 60+ dollars and is A MUCH BETTER GAME than this while costing 10 dollars less than wolverine and lasting over twice as long with a better new game plus and it came with FREE DLC that was essentially its own brand new game
God of war ragnarok is the quality i expect from a 70+ dollar game not a glitchy buggy mess that holds your hand thru the entire experience, while never letting you fail, QTEs don’t matter, combat is stale especially compared to GOD OF WAR, and the animations suck, wolverine is high quality garbage
1
u/andocommandoecks 2h ago
It could've been ten times longer and that wouldn't make it one bit better, longer game doesn't mean better game. It often (not always) just means more padding. I also didn't pay $70 for it because that's a silly thing to do. If ever a game was a perfect rental this was it. I sure did die quite a bit for a game that doesn't let you fail though, guess nobody told my copy that my health bar being empty is a fail state, and the enemies taking half of it away per hit was a bit ruthless.
I agree GoW Ragnarok was better, but expecting that level of experience from a complete different dev team working on a completely unrelated IP is a silly way to go about making purchase decisions. I didn't get mad when The Last of Us 2 didn't give me the same combat as Bloodborne either. Or when GoW Ragnarok didn't have combat as good as Devil May Cry 5. It's not a matter of low standards, it's just having realistic expectations.
0
u/EmbarrassedEagle9921 2h ago
Dude everything you said is just massive cope, your inhaling PREMIUM COPIUM dawg put it down
You’re right a longer game doesn’t mean better, but why charge 70+ dollars for a small bag of chips when I can go and get me a bigger bag of chips for a lower price 60+ dollars, Wolverine had no business costing 70+ dollars
If you had a hard time playing this game you genuinely suck at gaming not even tryna be mean or insulting but this is the easiest game I’ve ever played in my life even on the hardest difficulty, if this is difficult you would genuinely struggle playing god of war on give me balance difficulty
And no me expecting a decent game and expecting a similar level of experience is not SILLY especially considering the price, if you are gonna charge 70+ dollars i EXPECT a game worth 70+ dollars, I don’t understand why you are making excuses for this slop, I don’t need the same combat as a different game like god of war but i expect something as good if you are gonna charge prices similar to those games you listed, hell I expect quality similar to insomniacs previous games (spiderman) and they couldn’t even do that and they MADE THOSE GAMES, they couldn’t even make their combat as good as there previous games, another excuse to justify this slop
If this game was 40 dollars it wouldn’t be that bad it actually would be ok, but it’s not 40 it’s 70+ dollars, so I’m going to judge this game like I would judge any 70+ game and for the price Wolverine is TERRIBLE
You don’t have REALISTIC expectations, you have LOW standards
2
u/idkimhereforthememes 10h ago
I saw a wolverine and sabretooth making out ai slop video on the wolverine game subreddit, don't pretend like 99% of y'all shitting on the game aren't subhuman
2
u/Millennialnerds 13h ago
That’s not what this is though. You guys use the excuse of wanting your opinion to be heard when it’s really you just want to shit on something a lot.
One post here and there sure whatever but to the degree of which people have come out to shit on a game that is sitting in the 70s on metacritic is hilarious to me.
-1
u/Jakelovesdrpepper 13h ago
I genuinely wonder if you've even played it because it's really not a bad game. It could have been better sure, but I'd not go so far as to call it a bad game.

They want games to be good or excellent to hold the standard. If the game releases subpar, the reviews will reflect that. That is on developers.
This is a benefit to the consumer. No one wants bad/mediocre games so Wolverine gets the distain it deserves.
0
u/MorningFresh123 8h ago
Think everyone would much prefer it was the greatest game of all time, but because it’s not they have their fun otherwise.
-5
u/sunfaller 6h ago
They dont want things to be bad.
They want bad things to be unsuccessful. Because bad games being successful means you get more of it.

That's literally all the posts about it anymore. And it's gotten to the point where if anybody even remotely liked it, then they're just bots defending it. Reddit is ridiculously biased and hivemind driven.
18
u/ichkanns 13h ago
Picture says nothing about Wolverine... you still made it about Wolverine. Could have taken it as "Control Resonant is good," but you took it as "Wolverine is bad." Weird stuff.
13
u/Upstairs-Event-681 13h ago
“Wolverine lost”, man, why are people on this app so tribalistic. Some of you think if you’re choosing one system you’re supposed to LOVE everything they put out. When in reality, people liked Control better so they voted for that one, it’s that simple

u/Additional_Equal_960 7h ago
It feels like it was between control resonant and the blood dawnwalker, makes no sense to put down wolverine for this when it wasnt even in contension

How about we celebrate Control Resonant being as good as it is instead of using it to shit on Wolverine

Or we could just be happy that Control Resonant is getting some recognition.
I don’t like Wolverine either but we don’t need to reference it constantly.
6
u/KGon32 11h ago
This obsession with Wolverine is crazy, I'm just sad that Insomniac made a mediocre game, a studio that makes bangers and is responsible for the some of my favorite franchises like Spyro and Ratchet. I was already sad with their focus with Marvel games, but on top of that them making a mediocre games is just makes it even worse.

Playing Wolverine rn and it is sooo good... reddit is just an echo chamber, and I remember everyone saying how short it is in general... like come on dude it has 30 missions and each is at least 45 minutes with crazy fast gameplay
-3
u/National-Garbage505 13h ago
The Internet has become weird like that.. they will find one reason to hate a game amidst 100 reasons to enjoy it and they will only focus on the negative. I don't have a Playstation but If I did I would probably play it. Not every game has to be a perfect 10/10. This happened with many games recently. If it isn't the best game ever, people (who have never played it) act like it is the worst game ever. Avowed, Star Wars Outlaws, Wolverine, and many more have had this happen. Sometimes a game can just be fun and that's fine. At some point people starting thinking that 7.5/10 is a bad score and it's very odd.
Now the budget of Wolverine is another story. The fact that they spent $300 million on making a straightforward linear action game is its own problem and highlights the budget bloat going on in AAA studios. But the game looks like it is a ton of fun.
2
u/LucklessCope 12h ago
It's kind of funny that you invalidate the criticism just because you suggest there are 100 reasons to enjoy it. Yet they're the one who had actually played it while you're admitting you never even touched it.
-1
u/Lord-Heir 12h ago
"reddit is just an echo chamber" yet the exact same majority opinions are given on every single other platform... Sure lmfao
-1
u/Appropriate_Foot242 12h ago
What’s sooo good about it? Combat and story are average at best. Level design sucks. The only saving grace are the performances imo.
1
u/weirdo_if_curtains_7 12h ago
I think the best way to describe the game is just sort of mediocre and boring. Like, it checks the boxes for a video game technically. It's just so uninspired and uninteresting at a basic level. Even the combat is essentially just a mash fest.
The combat on a game like that should be excellent at the very least. How do you make combat in a wolverine game that boring? That's what I don't get
I think it's a serviceable game to get on sale for 10 bucks or so if you like the character of wolverine. Definitely would never pay full price for it though.
0
u/LucklessCope 12h ago
I don't remember anyone bringing up the game's length. What I remember being criticised was the handholding, both during traversal and in QTE sequences.
I've also seen several clips that back up these criticisms, as well as showing how ridiculous the bike gameplay looks. Ironically, you're the one creating an echo chamber by refusing to address these criticisms and instead dismissing them based on your own subjective opinion. And that's fine, just as it's fine for others to criticise the game. But subjective opinions don't invalidate criticism, especially when there are actual gameplay clips to back it up.
-2
u/Hungry_Computer3913 12h ago
Its updated and fixed now so hand hold is turned down a lot same as bike sequence, ofcourse I saw those clips everyone did but devs saw that too and fixed so game is an absolute banger now with addictive gameplay same as Spiderman and same as Ratchet and Clank
1
u/LucklessCope 12h ago
Saying is updated and fixed pretty much acknowledge some of rhe criticism while the rest remains.
And I'm not able to somehow take you serious when using words like "absolute banger" and comparing it to Spider-Man and Ratchet and Clank.
We heard the criticism. How about you telling us what actually makes it an "absolute banger" now?
1
1
u/Scootsterman1994 13h ago
I mean I hate Wolverine too but instead of bashing it for the millionth time can’t you instead make the post about celebrating Control Resonant? While I do think Wolverine is a bad game, comparing the two does both of them a disservice since both games are so different and it’s just a topic that’s been played out to death by this point.

u/Disrespect78 13h ago

u/GilbeastZ 10h ago
Also even if it included Nintendo games I feel like FE is actually more split than it seems. I personally found the game whatever since I hate social sim stuff. But the story and combat was pretty solid.
1
u/Disrespect78 10h ago
It's only really split among hardcore fans, mostly because yeah there are hardcore fans who don't like social/exploration stuff at all, but then I don't think they're really approaching this game for what it is.
I wouldn't criticize Metroid Prime for being a 3D game if I liked Metroid for being exclusively 2D.
I've played every FE game, and love all of them and both the "modern" games and the old ones pretty equally. Everyone has their own preferences though
-1
u/Lord-Heir 12h ago
Onimusha was easily the best game of September, probably the entire year next to RE9. It's amazing the amount of people not understanding that the reason you're bringing up Wolverine is because it was a lousy FIRST PARTY Sony game compared to a smaller third party studio's game that blew it completely out of the water.

u/ImmaFuckboi 13h ago
A game that is miles better than Wolverine is a players top choice?
