Mod Post New Rules: No AI, No Unnecessary Politics

Hi everyone.

We've added two new rules to the sub:

No AI

Pretty self explanatory. No posts or comments that have been AI generated or "enhanced", and no AI images.

No Unnecessary Politics

Political comments and posts that aren't strictly on topic and related to T-Mobile will be removed. I think we all get enough politics elsewhere online and in our lives right now, so try to keep it out of the r/tmobile sub.

Thank you!

Question Experience More with Appreciation Saving

Post image

Any with experience upgrading phones with Apple directly with this plan?

Does the "Experience More" discount also apply to "Experience More with Appreciation Saving" as shown on the apple site?

I am so confused. I don't have this plan yet but am eligible for it, so I am trying to decide if it is worth $16 more per month to change plan.

Rant To customers who can’t transfer their own data…

How the hell do yall survive every day life????

Like the phone literally WALKS you through it… step by step…

It’s literally ONE SENTENCE per page. Customers always be like “You are so smart for knowing how to do this, did it take training?”… NO I’M JUST READING THE SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS 😂.

We have 4-5 year olds that CANT read that are more tech literate than grown ass adults. Get it together.

Question Why is the cell service so bad indoors?

I've had TMHI for awhile at home and never had issues, but as soon as my family switched to T-Mobile for phones I've had nothing but issues with the cell service at work and on the go. If I'm outside or at home it's fine, but as soon as I go inside any stores or other big buildings my service immediately disappears. I never had this issue with Verizon, and my office is like 3 miles from the tower.

Question Trying to get out of ATT

• Upvotes

We're a family of 5 currently on AT&T (not through Costco), paying about $75 per line. Each of us has an iPhone 17 Pro or Pro Max. If we leave AT&T, we'd each owe roughly $765 to pay off our phones.
If we switch to T-Mobile through Costco on the Experience Beyond plan, would T-Mobile give us both:
Up to $800 per line to cover our AT&T device balances (Keep & Switch), and
$1,000 with trade-in or $1,200 without trade-in toward new phones, using our current 17 Pros?
Any help is greatly appreciated.

Discussion What is Your Favorite Plan

• Upvotes

Be curious about this with T-Mobile going through yet another Phone Plan change what in your opinion was the “best/favorite”

Personally I think I joined at the right time with Experience Beyond 1.0 reason being for me is unlimited hotspot* and it was right before 2.0 where they changed from the 24 month upgrade program to the 36 month program.

PSA Here's what to do about the repeated rate increses disguised as fictitious fees:

Complain to the FTC.

This is what I did. Becuase they are required to attempt to resolve every person who contacts the FTC I got a double speak email from an executive of customer relations. When I wrote back and told her the the fees were obviously a rate hike, she wrote back within two hours and offered me $100. A $50 immediate credit and $10 off for the next five months. Offer valid for 30 days.

I'm not taking it. Instead I will take the email back to the FTC and label it what it is. An attempted bribe to drop the complaint.

I expected $10 or something. I did not expect $100. This shows they know they have a losing case with their transparent excuses.

Complain to the FTC. Seriously.

Question Help me understand

So I’m thinking of financing the iPhone Duo with T-Mobile EIP through the Apple Store. It requires me to put a $434.79 down payment. And also trading my iPhone 17 Pro Max value up to $885. Also hopefully getting that $1000 in T-Mobile total trade-in credit.

Am I paying $1319.79 or just that $434.79 when I get that phone at the Apple Store?

Question If the Duo promo changes how does it affect “Get Ready”

So there have been a lot of people saying the promo will likely be greater than 1k when they update the promos tomorrow. Not sure why they need to wait until the day preorders start but whatever, let’s say they actually have a trade in offer in $1200 or higher tomorrow. Has this happened prior? And if so how did that impact anyone who did the Get Ready option through Apple?

We know stock will be tight and doing that step allows us to get our orders in right away when pre-orders open, but then are we locked in to the promo available when we “got ready” or will it update to the better promo if available?

I would love a higher promo but would be really annoyed if to get it I have to jump through hoops to apply a new promo to an existing order.

Home Internet Anyone else have issues with internet and data for certain apps?

There is apparently a network-wide issue for certain accounts where you cannot access certain websites or apps. Example zoho, proton mail, kaiser…

I called 611 and someone by the name of Conner was super helpful and got me to the right person. They included my account in the master ticket. So if anyone is having this issue, go ahead and call them.

Question Havent been able to have my phone unlocked in weeks

I have a phone i bought at a walmart with a tmobile plan, ive had the phone for about a year ish and i want it unlocked for use with another carrier but i made the mistake of cancelling my tmobile account before doing that because i genuinely didnt know it was a thing i had to even do first.

Ive called tmobile customer swrvice at least four times and they all told me id be able to get it unlocked, all of them said "its eligible to be unlocked now" and to wait 1-3 days but its still not unlocked. One person told me to have it unlocked at the walmart i bought it from, one said to go tk an in person tmobile to get it done there, frankly they all gave me different quests to get it unlocked and none have worked. For one of the customer service folks i actually put her on the phone with the walmart wireless employee and she said "your phone isnt associated with tmobile anymore but we can still unlock it" and she said about putting in a ticket to unlockit and to wait for 1-3 business days, that time has passed and its still locked.

I already paid for the other phone plan and i want to start using that, is it even possible to get my current phone unlocked anymore ?? I dont have the money for a new phone man.

Question Switching from AT&T to T-Mobile.

Anyone got a discount for switching? Or do they offer one for certain employers like att? Porting over 2 lines. Also what is the cheapest phone I can trade in for the promo credit for the Duo? 16e through Walmart? Figured I’d rather sell my 17 pro after unlocking instead of trading that in. The $800 payoff still applies too yeah? If I get on the most expensive plan can I upgrade next year too?

Question Next upgrade

Hey all, it’s that time of year again where I need to start considering my yearly upgrade (I’m on Next). Family plan with 4 * 17 Pro’s and a Pro Max.

The Pros’s have previously been free upgrades in the past but now with only $1,000 credit, each pro will cost $200 and the max $300. That’s $1,100 out of pocket. Plus sales tax on the full amount we’re looking at over $1,386 for new “upgraded” phones. Plus the connection charge of $175, then the hassle of setting up a new phone and mailing in the trade-ins, hoping that TMO processes them correctly.

The other side of me thinks though that in a year’s time if we’re not on the latest phone the upgrade trade-in credit will be even less.

So I’m torn… drop some cash and upgrade to a virtually identical phone just to stay current, or hold off on the upgrade this time round and potentially loose out on trade in credit next year…

What are you Next’ers all doing this year?

Question Home Internet Regulatory and Programs and Telco Recovery Fee

Two questions:
I have 5 lines on my T-Mobile account. I see in the "Plan Details", that to sign up for its Home Internet Service, I will have to pay a Regulatory and Programs and Telco Recovery Fee totaling up to $2.60 per line." That would be another $13.00 per month. Am I reading this correctly?
2nd Question: It also says that "federal and local surcharges apply." Any idea how much that would be?

Rant T-Mobile charging military plans more?

• Upvotes

My family switched to the military plan a few years cause the promotions they offered over base plans was so much better.

Just got off the phone with a T-Mobile rep and the latest upgrade promotion (the one that was only offered to military accounts years before) is now only available to standard accounts and military plans get far less for an upgrade.

Wild of a company to disrespect veterans like that.

Discussion T-mobile bungles delivery and then cancels phone order

• Upvotes

After hours of navigating dead-end chat sessions and iOS app glitches, I upgraded my phone to an 18 Pro, paid for same-day delivery, and selected the 3 to 5 pm delivery slot. At 4:45, when I still hadn't seen any signs of order fulfillment, I contacted customer support at 611.

The customer support human was the first remotely helpful entity with whom I interacted, but they confirmed that the phone had not been picked up and they weren't able to make the situation better. Ultimately, the only solution was that Tmobile canceled the order altogether. I'm supposed to order the phone again tomorrow and, if I'm lucky, they might be able to deliver it between 4 and 6 pm tomorrow. (By that time, the IT administrator who can get me reconnected to MFA will have left for the weekend.)

I'm just so deeply appalled by the horrific customer service offered by t-mobile. I'm not an anti-AI person, but there should always be a pathway to immediately escalate to a human, and they've basically eliminated that option from the app.

I always forget how much I hate interacting with this company. I've got one of the plans which allows me to upgrade my phone every year, but I drag my feet because they've made it such a miserable experience.

Thanks for listening to my rant.
