How To Use Flairs and Why We Have Them

Based off of the questioning flag, there are four colors you can choose from for a flair.

Orange - Those who are in the process of figuring out their sexuality and gender.

Yellow - Those who know their sexuality, but are in the process of figuring out their gender.

Green - Those who know their sexuality and gender.

Blue - Those who know their gender, but are in the process of figuring out their sexuality.

All are customizable so the text may be replaced with your current label if you desire. See my flair as an example.

The reason I have created these specific categories are because they will help anyone who's questioning have further context to your answers with a quick, simple glance.

[AMAB 20] I can't tell if I want to be a woman or if I'm just unhappy with myself as a guy

I'm 20, AMAB, and 5'7". I've been going back and forth about my gender for a while, and I honestly don't know what to make of my feelings.

I keep having this feeling that I wish I was a woman. It's not always sexual. Sometimes it comes up when I'm horny, but a lot of the time it happens randomly, and I don't even know what triggers it.

I watched way too much porn when I was younger, so sometimes I wonder if I've somehow messed up my brain and convinced myself I want something I don't actually want. But I also remember thinking about being a girl when I was little. It wasn't a huge thing, and I just assumed everyone had thoughts like that. Now I keep looking back and wondering if it meant something.

I still like women, and I might be bi too, I guess. Some men are good-looking, but I can't tell if I'm actually attracted to them or just recognize that they're attractive. I feel like I've started questioning everything about myself.

One of the biggest things I wonder about is whether I'd even be thinking about any of this if I were taller, better-looking, and had success with women. I've never had sex or a real relationship. When I was 15, a girl asked for my number at a bus stop and told me I was fine, but I got scared of commitment and broke up with her as soon as I got home.

Sometimes I genuinely think that if I were an attractive guy who had women interested in him, I probably wouldn't be questioning my gender like this. Maybe I'd be happy being a man if I felt wanted and wasn't so insecure about myself. I'm not blaming women or saying anyone owes me anything. I'm just trying to be honest about the possibility that my loneliness affects how I see myself.

But I also remember thinking about being a girl before dating and sex mattered to me, and these thoughts still come up when I'm not thinking about relationships at all. That's what makes it hard to dismiss them as insecurity. I can't tell whether I'm unhappy being a man because of my experiences or whether there's something else going on.

I wouldn't necessarily say I hate being a man. I just keep thinking about what it would be like to be a woman, and I can't seem to get that thought out of my head. I don't know if it's something I genuinely want or if I'm fixating on an alternative because I'm unhappy with parts of my life.

I'm also scared that even if I do want to transition, I won't look the way I'd want to. I'm Black, my face is masculine, and my shoulders are wider than my hips. I worry that people would clock me immediately and never really see me as a woman.

I've actually bought two vials of HRT, but I haven't taken any because I'm scared I won't pass. I'm worried about ending up visibly in between and having my family find out before I'm ready. At the same time, I'm scared of doing nothing and spending the rest of my life wondering what would've happened if I'd tried.

I know transitioning wouldn't magically fix my life or make someone love me. I just keep wondering whether I'd still want to be a woman if I were already happy with my life as a man. And because I'm so afraid I won't pass, it's hard to separate what I genuinely want from what I'm scared is possible for me.

For people who've questioned their gender, did you ever wonder if you were just unhappy with yourself or your life and wanted to be someone else? How did you start figuring out what your feelings actually meant?

I also wonder how much certainty people had before they started exploring their gender. Did you always have a strong feeling that you were trans, or did you spend a long time going back and forth like this?

I'm not expecting anyone to tell me what my identity is. I'd just like to hear from people who've experienced something similar, because I feel like I've been trying to reason my way through this on my own and keep ending up in the same place.

(F 29)What's this person's sexuality

Lets say they can get turned on by both sexes when watching adult content but in real life they only fall in love/get feelings for the opposite sex and they don't want to sleep with their own sex?

I'm [M 15] more unsure than ever about my gender.

So, I've posted here before. If you haven't read my original post, please take your time to read it:

https://www.reddit.com/r/questioning/comments/1x3mmsi/im_m_15_confused_about_my_actual_gender/

If you don't have time to read it, here's a short summary:

I've been questioning my gender for a few months. I've often wished I was born a girl, and while the thought of transitioning scares me, staying a boy sometimes feels wrong too. Imagining a life where I was born and grew up as a girl feels more comfortable, and being called “she” sometimes feels more natural than “he.”

I'm also worried about how this could affect my relationship with my girlfriend, who means the world to me. Discovering Yuri (Girls' Love manga) has made me think more deeply about these feelings, since imagining myself in the girl's position feels more natural to me than imagining myself as a boy in a straight romance.

I'm still confused about what these feelings mean and am trying to understand myself.

-----------------

Today, a friend referred to me using she/her pronouns, and I had a strange reaction. Part of me felt like it was right, but another part of me felt like it was wrong. I'm not sure whether that's because I'm simply not used to being referred to that way or whether it means something else. Since then, I've started reconsidering whether I'm actually transgender.

I think part of my fear is that everything seems to be moving so quickly. I only started seriously exploring these feelings a few days ago, and the thought of transitioning and potentially changing so many aspects of my life feels overwhelming.

At the same time, I keep finding myself wishing I could be a girl.

I've thought to myself many times that if I could restart my life, I would definitely choose to be a girl. But imagining starting over feels very different from actually transitioning in my current life. The latter feels much scarier because of all the changes and uncertainty involved.

I don't know how to make sense of these conflicting feelings, and I wish I could figure out whether I'm transgender or not.

For those who have experienced something similar, how did you explore your feelings and gradually understand yourself? Is there any way to get a better sense of whether I'm trans, or is it something that takes time to understand?

I'd really appreciate hearing about your experiences and advice. Thank you for reading.

idk if im [F 16] lesbian or not i need advice

I just got out a relationship a few months ago it was my first real relationship with a guy and he was my first love that was a guy as well, even though the relationship was so bad for so many things. Over the few months of healing within myself and talking to a therapist i realized a lot about myself i think i might be lesbian.

i say this because after fully processing the relationship, i dont think i truly loved him in a romantic way and i definitely loved him but not in that kind of way??? (i mean i was definitely attracted to him but just thinking back im so confused) . (i was super heartbroken after we broke up so thats also where i get confused)

Since puberty ive ALWAYS been interested in guys and that was always my default like every relationship, every talking stage EVERYTHING was with a guy. nothing ever worked out because i just couldn't STAY interested or want to be in it. i am not sure if it is because i just didnt like them or if im just not interested in guys. i mean EVERY time i talked to a guy they irritated me so bad .

There was one girl who was 100% my first love but that was a super complicated middle school situation so i havent read too deeply into it since then. But thinking about it now i definitely could see myself in a relationship with her and other girls. throughout my highschool experience i have talked or been interested in 2 girls, it always ended with me not being interested or gay. but now that i am really learning myself i think i was pushing my feelings for them away because i am worried about what my friends and family will say.

i get super self conscious about it and i know in this era its normalized but i just feel scared and i dont know what to do. i cant see myself being happy dating a guy at all but i am attracted to them just not romantically?

i dont really know what my goal is posting this, i just want advice or any wise words that can help me through this lol.
im sorry for all of the bad grammar and how its all over the place i just need any and every piece of advice

Questioning my Sexuality [M 14]

I know that I’m young and stuff but I’ve had this problem for a while now. I’m both attracted to girls and boys, but the thing is, I have mixed feelings about liking boys. Sometimes I’ll be full on sub and just be myself and accept the fact that I like boys, then on the other hand I sometimes think about it and think, bro no I’m not gay. Now then maybe 10 minutes after I feel like the true self of me is attracted to men. I don’t know what to do or how to help it. It’s like the estrogen is fighting against the testosterone

am i lesbian? [18 F]

Throughout my childhood, I was interested in boys and **regularly** had crushes on them. When I was younger, I remember some sexual curiosity involving boys, although I was obviously very young at the time, i would get boy friends to like go on top of me etcetc😭. I also remember playing video games and trying to find myself a boyfriend, so i could roleplay like a relationship with him lol. I remember feeling flustered during these scenarios as we would pretend to cuddle, etc. and i would like draw pictures of me and the online boyfriend and stuff.

Around ages 11–12, I would feel giddy, nervous and excited around boys. I would get flustered around them, want their attention and feel jealous or upset if they liked someone else.
When I was 13, I entered a relationship with a boy that lasted around 2.5 years. We never had sex, but we frequently ground against each other, which I enjoyed physically and could orgasm from. I also had sexual fantasies around that age, more so than I do now. Towards the end of the relationship, I started losing feelings as I was noticing other boys.

I also had a significant crush on another boy whom I had liked on and off since I was 11. i remember it just felt like we were soultied, we just knew eachother so well and deeply and I wanted to talk to him constantly, wanted him to like me and wanted to be in the same room as him whenever i could. I remember playing footsie under the table with him, which made me feel flustered, and my feelings became more intense around ages 15–16 but unfortunately he didnt want a relationship as he still wasnt over his ex, but i tried my best to be with him despite that.

After that, I spoke to a boy from Sweden whom I met online during a time where i had a interest in male snowboarders on Instagram. I really liked him and fantasised about visiting him. I even took compatibility tests to see whether we would work out as a couple. When he ended things, I was genuinely upset. i ended up writing a whole diary about like how confused i was that he didnt like me, and i drew pictures of him, etc.

I then spoke to another boy for around eight months. Although things were toxic and he never really wanted to meet up with me, I liked him a lot and cried over him frequently (horrible guy). When we eventually met in person, I felt extremely nervous. As soon as I saw him, I experienced a sort of dizziness and my attention immediately focused on him. We watched a film together, and I remember holding his hand and rubbing it with my thumb. It felt very sensual and electric to me. Things eventually ended because he wasn’t treating me well.

Later, I developed a crush on a boy in one of my classes. He made me feel nervous, giddy and excited. i wanted to make eye contact with him, wanted to like laugh and smile at him whenever someone made a joke to see if hed look at me too. I remember telling him I had never tried Dr Pepper, and when he bought me one, I felt incredibly flustered and excited. It was such a small gesture, but I remember how strongly I reacted to it. I wanted a relationship with him, partly because I had been messed around before, and I found myself pushing for things to become official. i also remember video calling in the evening and i was excited and nervous for that, however i remember feeling sort of like not as cool as him as i didnt listen to as much music as him, and that was an important thing in his life. and also i remember him making a comment about a womans boobs or something whilst on call and i felt rlly upset and like offput. Things eventually ended, and I think I may have been too intense for him.

I was involved with a man I met online, and I liked talking to him from the beginning. We had chemistry straight away, and I remember experiencing butterflies when we messaged. I felt comfortable with him and enjoyed building a connection with him. I enjoyed kissing, cuddling and being intimate with him, including cuddling naked. I particularly enjoyed receiving physical affection and pleasure, and I could usually orgasm within around five minutes when he used his hands or performed oral sex on me. I enjoyed the physical side of our relationship and looked forward to being close to him. i enjoyed pda and just being able to lean into him or kiss him spontaneously and it just brang me comfort. There were also occasions when we were in public or in a dark space and he stood behind me, held me or touched my bum under my skirt. These situations made me feel aroused and breathless, and I sometimes wanted to grind back against him. I also enjoyed the thought of making him feel turned on. On some occasions, we would be cuddling and watching a film, and I would start feeling aroused and initiate intimacy myself.

I remember another experience at a concert when I was drunk and noticed a man. We kept making eye contact, and I became increasingly aware of him. Eventually, he was standing behind me, and I thought I was dancing against him, which made me feel flustered and aroused. Later that evening, we were walking along the same route home, with him ahead of me, and I remember wanting him to turn around and notice me.I’ve also enjoyed flirting with men and found it fun and exciting. There have been situations where I’ve noticed a man I find cute and made playful eye contact with him, enjoying the excitement of the interaction and the possibility that something might happen.

my dilemma is that i have I sometimes experience immediate arousal-like sensations from simply looking at a woman’s chest or bum, whereas I don’t seem to experience that same immediate physical response from simply looking at a man.🤷‍♀️

New dad (M 30) here. Anyone else lose attraction to their wife after the baby and start questioning things?

Throwaway to be cautious.

Our baby is 8 months old, and I’m dealing with something I don’t know how to process. Since she was born, my attraction to my wife has basically vanished. It’s not resentment or anything she did. She’s an amazing mom and I love her. The physical spark just isn’t there anymore, and I can’t tell if it’s exhaustion, stress, or something deeper.

Here’s the part that’s really throwing me. My fantasies have shifted toward men. Specifically, I follow a few male fitness influencers on Instagram, and there’s one guy in particular who’s been posting a lot of beach and pool content lately, including some in a speedo, and I keep finding myself thinking about him. I’ve never really questioned my sexuality before. I’m honestly not sure what to make of this.

I keep going back and forth on what to do. Part of me thinks I should just wait it out and assume it’s a weird phase caused by sleep deprivation and hormonal changes (I know dads get hormone shifts too). Another part of me wonders if I should explore these thoughts privately, just to figure out what’s going on, rather than trying to suppress it. I don’t want to do anything that hurts my marriage, and I don’t know which approach is healthier.

Has this happened to any other dads? Did it pass, or did it turn out to mean something? I’d really appreciate hearing from anyone who’s been through it, or even just hearing that I’m not the only one.

im so conflicted [F 20 afab]

i posted this on r/asktransgender too

i'm a cis woman [F20] and i go by she/her, but i'm honestly pretty indifferent to what pronouns people use for me. i openly identify as a cis woman and for the most part i'm comfortable being one. or at least i think i am? 😭

sometimes i don't really feel like i relate to womanhood or what it's like to be a woman/girl, and i get pretty conflicted whenever i start thinking about it. i'm occasionally jealous of men? especially when it comes to their appearance, how they dress and their physiques. most of my fashion inspo comes from male influencers and even my fitness inspo is mainly men.

i dress pretty masculinely most of the time and i've always wanted to look more androgynous. but the thing is, i want to look androgynous in the way that men look feminine rather than the way women look masculine, if that makes sense? 😭 and that's what confuses me because i don't necessarily want to be a man, but sometimes i kinda wish i was? idk how to explain it.

i'm not really looking for anyone to tell me what my gender is, but i'm curious if anyone else has experienced something similar because i genuinely don't know what to make of these feelings.

(AMAB 26) I don’t want to live like this anymore

I just can’t live as him anymore. Every day at work feels like wearing a mask that is glued on my face like superglue and it’s hard to get it off at home or online. I also have to wear the mask with family and it’s so draining. I fucking hate pretending to be Thomas and pretending that I like being him and I am happy as him when I really am fucking not. I just feel my mental health isn’t well when I am alone as I feel a big void in myself that I unsuccessfully fill with fandom or art or whatever and it is always empty. Last week was the third anniversary I came out to parents and really realized I’m a woman and I still struggle even after therapy and meds.

I feel like I’m at the point where I feel distant and disconnected from myself and it’s hard to ground my mind in my body. It’s even hard to have personal relationships as everyone just sees me as a confused guy and addresses me as such even when I say I’m not comfortable with dude or sir or man. I absolutely hate them people say “why not be a feminine man?” when I’ve tried it and it never clicks. I’ve just accepted after five years of being attracted to men and years before that trying to be into women that I’m not a straight guy. even if I turn out to be a gay guy it’s isolating with all this gooner slop and straight men talking about women and crushes that I don’t experience and it’s alienating.

As a straight woman I feel ashamed and awkward competing myself to my mom and sister as I’ll never be an actual woman like they are. I’ll never be a real mom or make breast milk or wear pads or pee sitting down without my thing down there. It’s not that the label is the role feels wrong it’s just that I feel shame about being one and talking up space in women’s spaces.

I wish I had breasts and a female parts and feminine dress without my mom ranting about how nervous she is and my sister being upset that I’m not her brother. This shit takes up so much mental space and it’s hard to distract myself from the fact that it’s either deal with being a man at home or be myself and suffer the consequences at home or work.

[F20s-30s] Am I just talking myself into maybe being trans?

I had had a questioning phase earlier in life, but ended up feeling like a woman again. I think I'm having another one, but I honestly am not sure if I'm just talking myself into things. I've been reading some trans coming out stories and honestly it sounds really nice. I think a lot of those things are things I'd like to experience. But I just cannot get over the fear. I have a pretty good life. I am a chill cute girl (despite the self-esteem and some body image issues). If I go on T and have top surgery, it's going to be hard to get back the things I have now, and I don't know if I'm ready for that. One of the things that's been so nice about being a cis woman is that it's simple. The clothes fit me. I'm not worried about what my hips or my boobs are doing. Everything already lines up. If I look or sound like a girl, yeah duh, that's the point. It's so nice not to have to try and edit what I look like and sound like and act like.

But I have this nagging curiosity at the same time; I wanted to know what it would be like, years ago, to have a deeper voice, a flat chest. I'm realizing that I still kind of want to know what it would be like now. But what if I can live a perfectly good life without knowing? I had a solid few years where I actually wanted to be and enjoyed being a woman after my first period of questioning. Detransitioning isn't the end of the world, I know plenty of people do it, but I guess I don't want to put myself through the extra stress if it can be avoided, you know.

Idk [F 24] it’s so complicated

I'm new here Black (F) and is sexually turned on by white women, especially older heavy set women. I want to know if it is weird that I want to be some sort of a sex slave to white women. I live in the south and it's very hard to find women who would enjoy smothering my face, making me cook, clean their homes and just letting them own my body. I wouldn't mind being a home maid or slave. I just want to stop imagining it and actually come across a lady who needs who house clean

[19 AFAB] I know I like women, but…

Okay, so I’ve identified as a lesbian on and off for a while now. I relate to a lot of common lesbian experiences and in hindsight, I really was lying about liking men and forcing myself into relationships with men like 90% of the time.

That being said, sometimes I get “tired” of women. Like, I’m not as attracted to feminine bodies as much as I usually am.

I then find myself having a “craving” let’s say for more masculine traits? Deeper voice, flatter chest, a less curvy figure…but I don’t think I actually like men? Like, I don’t really ever feel attracted to men I see around me the same way I see cute girls everywhere I go.

Except for …some times. I’ll see a guy and think “I wish he were a girl or enby so I could be attracted to him :(“ like I’m not actively attracted to him, but thinking about him as non binary or transitioning towards femininity in the future could make him more attractive to me? And idk if that’s like…cope or something or if I’m just being weird

But a part of me is still convinced that I’m SUPPOSED to end up with someone masc presenting, no matter how attracted to femininity I am.

I also get crushes on fictional men, though they’re usually nonhuman and/or the things I like about them aren’t male exclusive traits like personality, character arc, style, etc.

I’m just kind of yapping at this point but uh yeah it’s weirddddd

[22 M] I had sex with a man NSFW

I feel really confused now. Like I didn’t want to do it and he was family member so it’s weird but what I’m confused about is that even though he didn’t touch my dick, it was hard and I even ejaculated which is crazy that that happened without even touching it. And I think I had prostate orgasm. Like it hurt because nothing ever was in my ass like that before. And still had blood there. But the orgasm felt good and now I feel confused that it felt good and bad at the same time and now im thinking maybe I enjoyed it. And before I only thought sexually of women but now I was jerking off to thought of being fucked by men. I never would think I’d do that before. I feel gross after I cum. But during it, I kinda like it and I was thinking if I had sex with a man I liked maybe I would have those orgasms again and enjoy it. But it kinda grosses me out to think of it. Ugh I’m very confused

Later that evening, we were walking along the same route home, with him ahead of me, and I remember wanting him to turn around and notice me.

I’ve also enjoyed flirting with men and found it fun and exciting. There have been situations where I’ve noticed a man I find cute and made playful eye contact with him, enjoying the excitement of the interaction and the possibility that something might happen.

Overall, I’ve experienced romantic feelings, butterflies, nervousness and physical enjoyment with men. However, what confuses me is that I sometimes experience immediate arousal-like sensations from \*\*simply looking at a woman’s chest or bum\*\*, whereas I don’t seem to experience that same immediate physical response from simply looking at a man.

Help, I might be lesbian ??? [19 F]

Okay so. 19F, I've always been queer. I never had to come out as my first crush was a girl and I told EVERYONE lol. Anyways, I've always known I've liked women.

However, once I was about 15 and over, I noticed I kinda started ignoring it. Not that I tried to pretend it wasn't there, but I only ever sought out men and the one girl I had a thing with ended up mean anyways and I cut it off.

I dated one man for 6 months and another man for 2 years, and I just broke up with him like a month ago. I've also always been much more into fictional men than fictional women, but I think that has more to do with my gender identity which is an entirely different topic LOL. I wouldn't describe myself as attracted to fictional men though, it's more like I simply have more of a connection to male characters than female ones. If I imagine scenarios etc, no matter what it is never me in them, It's of two characters.

On and off in these last few years dating men, I've suddenly been absolutely disgusted by the concept. Even before getting into these relationships I've been like.. "Am I really into this guy?" and I promise I'm not proud of possibly leading these guys on, but I'm not sure if what I felt was a crush or was love because I feel like I have nothing to compare it to?

This is surfacing again as I'm kinda loosely seeing another guy casually now. We seem really compatible and he's so kind, but I fear I'm getting the same feeling as before which is like... I could date this guy, but I feel like it would be missing something. And it sucks because I feel like he should be my type and I just can't do it? But for the record I understand sometimes you're simply not into the person and it is what it is. I think the physical attraction just isn't there.

Something else I just remembered is I'm naturally much more smitten with girls than I am with guys. About a year ago, a rlly pretty alt girl came into my work and I remember messing up her order because I was so distracted by how pretty she was. My manager even got upset lol. I never remember feeling that way from a man, although I can definitely appreciate looking at them when they're attractive, I've never really had my jaw drop from a man unless it's more of a they have a really cool aesthetic kind of thing.

Anyways. Does anyone relate to this at all? I genuinely wonder if I might be on the ace spectrum instead or if I'm just gay. I'm definitely breaking things off with the guy I'm seeing because it most definitely isn't fair to lead him on during this crisis, but yeah. Any similar experiences? I know likely my next step is to just date women and see how I feel, but the concept is so daunting!!! Thank you everyone for reading lol. I hope I made a bit of sense!!

Finally exploring after keeping it repressed for years(20, AMAB)—Hi everyone!

Hello everyone, I´m Ellie or Lacey (feel free to use whichever one you prefer, as I'm testing them both out!).

I'm currently questioning my gender identity. I'm trying to finally express and understand a side of myself that I’ve kept repressed for several years at this point, and I'm looking for a safe space to do that.

I might mostly read and listen at first, but I'm really glad to have found this group. If anyone else started their journey after keeping things repressed for a long time, I'd love to hear how you navigated these early stages. Also what advice or recommendations would you have for me to help navigate through my journey?

I don’t know what I am anymore [17 F]

for the longest time I thought I was bi, I find both guys and girls attractive. I‘ve had crushes on both but recently I had my first kiss in a long time, my first was back in pre-school with my ‘girlfriend’, maybe it’s just kissing that doesn’t work with me but it just seemed gross, I genuinely felt like throwing up after.

The girl is genuinely kind and I don’t want to hurt her but now I’m starting to wonder if I’ve been wrong for the last few years. Maybe I just don’t like her but I don’t know if that’s the only thing, the idea of a relationship seems terrifying to me, its hard for me to even imagine people having their own lives outside of one.

I don’t think I want a relationship, in the romantic sense, theres a lot I want to do in life and I don’t think a relationship fits into that.

as for the girl, she has a girlfriend, they just have an open relationship I think, I don’t really understand their arrangement I just know the other girl was cool with it since she was there.

Gender questions that would be way more convenient to ignore [30s F]

I had previously questioned and explored my gender a couple of years ago, but landed back on cis female.

I thought that was the end of it, but I'm having some gender-y thoughts and feelings again, and my honest reactions right now are "not again" and "I don't have time for this". I do feel like this reaction is partially fuelled by anxiety--like, if I discover something I like, I have to change parts if my life, potentially difficult ones. Better to just pretend it's not happening! How do you get past the urge to stick your head in the sand and actually confront what you're feeling?

Question [40 F]

Hello! So I was watching They/Them bc that movie is phenomenal but it got me thinking-

How does a non binary person who is trans work?
Ex if an afab (assigned female at birth) declares themselves non binary, but then start to transition to male- then isn’t that contradictory? They’d be transitioning their body to a different gender even though they don’t define themselves by gender? (This has nothing to do with sexuality and absolutely not judging, just wondering!)
