Food & Dining Best pizza in Dayton? Specifically NY style or Neapolitan

Exactly what the title says. I’m specifically looking for those styles with a non sweet sauce and a place that doesn’t overload the pizza with excessive cheese or toppings

Local News Spoiled Milk Smell in Beavercreek and Xenia

Anyone else smell what smells like spoiled milk in the air. Smelled it last evening in Beavercreek in multiple places, and today in Xenia. I had to stop someone who pulled in to see if they smelled it too. Thankfully, they did and I am not crazy.

Advice & Recommendations Fair currency exchange available locally?

Is there anywhere locally that I can exchange USD to yen, and get market price, or at least close to marketplace Price? Every bank that I’ve gone to undercuts me 20 to 50% less than what is the worldwide market exchange rate.

Community Support & Resources Sweet Tessa needs an adventuring buddy!

Trying this again because my last post inexplicably got hijacked :/

Tessa is a 4 year old, blue Doberman Pinscher. As you can see, she is neither cropped nor docked.

Please read this entire post if you're interested in adopting, as most questions will be answered!

I would prefer if potential adopters were current or previous client in good standing with Pet Styles of Kettering, or be referred by one of our amazing clients. I just would love to know she is safe with someone I know and can remain in contact with. However, anyone who has a great application with veterinary references and seems like a great match for Tessa is so welcome to inquire!

I will groom Tessa no charge for the rest of her life.

Tessa is a friend to all! She loves dogs, cats, children, ferrets, and folks of any gender. She is literally every human's instant bestie. Yesterday, she even got to see goats and horses. While she was startled at first, she quickly became less interested with slow exposure.

Tessa is spayed and up to date on all her vaccines. I just groomed her last night and she was a ange6l sent from heaven. She sat like a true ✨diva✨ while I clipped, ground, and painted her nails.

Tessa needs some light behavioural work. A home will need a privacy height fence in order to be considered for adoption, as she will bounce over and go on a wild, jaunty promenade. We want Tessa to be safe! She needs work on a safe and reliable recall.

She needs work on not jumping up when greeting or excited. She knows sit, and yesterday we worked on stay. She listened when I said UP, whether it to be in the car (she's a great driving buddy!) or into the bathtub, or up on to my grooming table.

Tessa REQUIRES an active family. She is curious and inquisitive, and up for anything, and a lot of her overly rambunctious, goofy behaviors will improve just with daily enrichment, exercise, and interaction. She is a smart girl who is VERY willing to please and wants to see the world with that special someone.

If my ankle biting army would allow it, I would adopt Tessa. Like, for real. I'm obsessed with her.

Please TEXT me, Kristina, at ninethreeseven-nineninezero-sevennineninefour and I will send an adoption application and coordinate with her current foster. WE WILL BE PICKY.

I am willing to help transport her to the right person within a reasonable distance.

If you would like to share Tessa's post on the book of faces, just look up Pet Styles of Kettering and share from there.

(Rehoming fee will be applied as a donation to a local animal foundation or applied as a credit to the adopter's veterinary clinic for future care of Tessa.)

Advice & Recommendations Is there an AA for anger? Someplace free and can meet during weekdays hopefully

I’ve been under a bit of stress lately, more than normal, and I can feel myself getting closer and closer to snapping. I’m not nor would I ever think to hurt anyone physically, but I know I’m one smart remark away from shouting back. I don’t like this aspect of me, it’s new and uncomfortable and I want to address it somehow to process and get rid of it. Are there places for anger management, like for AA, that is free and meets on weekday afternoons?

Advice & Recommendations Need some help figuring out how to vote

I need some help figuring out how I am going to be able to vote. I am going to be out of the state on election day so my plan was to get an absentee ballot. I requested it from the Montgomery County BOE at the beginning of October assuming this would be enough time and haven't received it yet. When I check status I get an error. I have re-sent the request but my expectations are low after the first one failed to show.

So obviously I should just do in person early voting. Its open Monday-Friday 8am-5pm in person at the BOE on Third. The problem is i work Monday-Friday down in Cincinnati 8am-5pm so voting before work, after work, or on my lunch are not good options. The weekend availability to vote in person doesn't start until after I leave.

I am at a loss. I've voted every election since I was 18 and missing such an important one is not an option. I have one PTO day left for the year if it comes to that but wanted to use it around the holidays so I'm hoping there is an alternative I'm not aware/thinking of.

Local News What would Dayton look like with a radically redesigned U.S. 35?

A study wants Dayton residents to imagine what the city could look like if one of the major highways crossing it was transformed.

Revive35Dayton.com is part of an 18-month research and planning project led by the city of Dayton and supported by a $2 million U.S. Department of Transportation grant.

Local architect and Dayton Plan Board member Matt Sauer is a longstanding advocate for rethinking U.S. 35’s design.

“A lot of communities of color and poor communities were bulldozed for highways all around the country," Sauer said. "So the city went after this funding and recognizing that (U.S.) 35 has a lot of wasted a lot space in our urban core.”

The study focuses on the 5.2-mile corridor stretching from Steve Whalen Boulevard in East Dayton to South Gettysburg Avenue in West Dayton.

City planners and engineers will gather traffic data, review safety concerns, and hear from residents before any future construction projects are designed.

Housing & Real Estate [Housing] Looking for a 3+ BR house (or spacious apartment) with a fenced yard for us and our extremely well-behaved pets!

Hey r/dayton!

My girlfriend and I [38M] are exploring making a move, and wanted to see if anyone knows of any available rentals or upcoming listings.

We’re ideally looking for a 3+ bedroom house with a fenced-in yard in the Miamisburg/Centerville/Springboro or general south Dayton/Montgomery County area. I like this area.

About us:

  • I work full-time remotely as a software engineering team lead, and she’s a full-time remote university student. I've worked in this industry for 17, almost 18, years.
  • We’ve lived at our current place (Austin Springs in Miamisburg) for nearly 4 years, paying $1,900 in total rent/utilities, not including AES Electric (which can sometimes hit $300+), and we have never missed or been late on a rent payment.
  • We take incredible care of our living space and our pets.
  • Before living here, I owned a house with my ex-wife in Piqua, OH for about 10 years, which we sold after the divorce, and split the profit.
  • We are both major homebodies & nerds. The only reason we really go outside is to walk the dogs, and to take them out. Otherwise, we're working, studying, gaming, watching shows/movies/anime/etc. together.
  • Neither of us smoke, drink, or do any drugs. We have clean records. My only negative driving record was from being rear-ended at a traffic light. While it was red! I was sitting there waiting for it to turn green, and BAM! Not fun! I went over 30 years without an accident, then moved down here from Piqua, OH and get rear ended.

Our pets:

  • Two dogs: One is an energetic puppy we're training, and the other is a 12-year-old senior who literally just sleeps all day. Because we both work / study remotely, we're always home with the animals.
  • One tiny cat: Very quiet and low-key.
  • Pet responsibility: We are obsessive about maintenance. We own carpet shampooers for any accidents, use protective covers on all our furniture, the cat's litterbox is an automated one, and always use poop bags on walks. Your floors and yard will be respected!

We’re primarily exploring options with a fenced-in yard right now just to give the puppy some safe room to burn off energy. Our budget is flexible depending on the property, and we can provide excellent references from our current landlords.

If you own a place, know of a private landlord looking for reliable, long-term tenants, or have a lead on a great neighborhood, please shoot me a DM or drop a comment. Thanks!

Jobs & Employment Anyone familiar with Reynolds and Reynolds' hiring process?

I’m considering applying for a remote customer service position at Reynolds and Reynolds. The pay would be a nice increase from my current job, so I’m pretty interested.

I’ve been reading about their hiring process, and it seems like a lot. Apparently there’s a Wonderlic assessment, a short recruiter call, a Teams interview, and possibly another written test and interview with management.

Has anyone gone through this recently? What were the interviews and additional tests like? How long did everything take, and did you end up getting hired?
Also curious what it’s actually like working there remotely.

Local Events Skeleton Dust presents an in-store DJ session with DJ Luke Tandy this Saturday

I have always thought about DJing a set of nothing but noise, experimental, and adjacent music, but for whatever reason have never done it. Likely because most bars and venues would not be too keen on this idea, then I remembered that I have my own space that I can do whatever I please in!

Join me this Saturday 10/17/26 from 1-3 PM at the shop as I explore sounds from the outer bounds!

Local Events Free seeds and food this Saturday at Agraria in Yellow Springs

Post image
12 Upvotes

I’ve been doing a lot of jobs out at Agraria center for regenerative practice outside of yellow springs, installing a food forest, a new front yard garden, a rain garden, etc as well as helping to harvest thousands of pounds of fresh produce donated to local food banks and people in need.

This Saturday we’re having a free event with free food, seeds and workshops on harvesting and saving different garden vegetables and native seeds and how to store, share and spread them.

We also still have room for a few people that want to volunteer to help or knows and wants to talk about seed saving.
I will be doing a seed walk focusing on how to collect the various native seeds throughout the farm.

Advice & Recommendations Orchards with Apple picking nearby?

Anyone done apple picking nearby recently? We are in our first year in Dayton, and always pick apples this time of year back in North Carolina. As far as I can tell, either it’s a bad crop year here, this isn’t a big Ohio past time, or the timing is different in Ohio vs NC. Not sure which.

I’ve only found one that seems to offer it but they have a note that they need their apples this year for their cider business. Guessing it’s a bad year like it was for strawberries.

Anyone picked apples nearby recently? Any Orchards that you prefer? Any help is appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Community Support & Resources Potholes on 75 South by Miamisburg/Dayton Mall exit

For the love of god can they please fix the horrible pot holes/patch fix on 75 South by the Miamisburg centerville road exit before I lose my two right tires or get into an accident? It’s too close to the exit for me to change lanes or I’ll risk missing my exit in rush hour. Has anyone else driven over that??

Calling ODOT or the city once I figure out the right phone number
