Want to start a discussion of avoiding blacklisted kindles on the used/refurb market that are not Amazon. I’ve read ask the seller if it’s registerable. Get a pic of device info and check the serial with Amazon. I read If the serial in device info has trailing zeros it’s blacklisted. How to avoid JB and modded units. I’m wanting to get 10 and 11th gen signature editions. Wanting to get 5 of them and it’s just too much of a price difference to get them refurbished as compared to new. What other things are there to do?

Is anyone else confused as to why the new models are the same price as the 2024 models? It seems like the new releases are really only an upgrade as far as aesthetics go and that the older models are just as good if not better in other ways. Is Amazon capitalizing on this?

I understand that a new model would be at a higher price point. What I don't understand is why the 2024 model hasn't been discounted since the release of the newer ones.

does anyone remember being able to actually use goodreads on your kindle? you would be able to navigate and look for books there as you can on the app. see friend updates and their reviews etc. not anymore though. I hate this so much because having goodreads has been a selling point for me. I just feel like they ruin half of the good things they give us. For example having 3G on your device anywhere you go,(this was amazing I was able to down load books even in rural Mexico in 2010!) actual buttons, text to audio with speaker etc etc..

anyway my main gripe is goodreads and how unusable they have made it.. it’s just redundant and bare minimum now. and pls don’t say you can just use the website or the app because I’m trying to NOT use my phone, tablet or computer that is the whole point of an ereader. Why would they buy goodreads and integrate it to their product to just ruin the experience?

i really want to protect my kindle as my last one was ruined by getting a big scratch on the screen. I have a flip cover case but still want the extra layer of protection. anyone have any luck? Amazon doesn’t seem to have any yet and the one or so it has are not exact fits

Is it worth it? About to buy my first kindle, not pre ordering the new one, just getting the 2024 12th gen, but I’m not sure if I should buy it or not, generally I never buy those extra warranties, but for some reason I’m afraid with the kindle.

Hi everyone! I just got my first kindle today - the kindle paperwhite.

I didn’t really know what to expect. First of all, I thought kindle unlimited would include all books on Amazon (oops). So after my free trial I will probably be canceling.

Also- something that bother me (as seen in the video above) is that the screen flickers. I find this a bit irritating; sometimes it happens when I turn pages too. When I’m reading at night, I don’t want it to be harsh like that on my eyes.

Additionally, I read a lot of fantasy books that include maps. But the thing is, when you try to zoom in on maps on the kindle the image is blurry. Does anyone else have this issue?

I’m also a bit disappointed the covers don’t come in color! That’s what draws me to read the books! Realized there are ones that come in color but they are at least double the price 🥴

I’m struggling with this so far because I love the feeling of an actual physical book, clear images/maps and flipping back and forth with ease. I bought a kindle hoping to save money as e books are usually cheaper than the physical books.

Just got my new Colorsoft (2024) and pretty happy with how decorating it turned out. I made the background myself on Canva and added an adorable popsocket. I think it’s such a cute little personal touch.

I’ve only ever really read on my iPad Mini, and I love it, even though the screen is backlit. I’ve always enjoyed reading on it, but it’s just a little heavy for long sessions. So when I saw the Amazon sale the other week and the Kindle Colorsoft was such a good deal, I decided it was finally time to give a different e-reader a try. I’m excited to see how I like the experience and try something a little different. What do you think?

My kindle is a model EY21 from idek how many years ago. I bought a charger for it and the light is on but says I need to connect to charger on the screen. Idk if that means it’s charging? It’s been like that for about 2 hours now. Is this okay?

Also I need someone to let me know if I should be using the ey21 model (in charger) or this grey one. Model is D01200.

Idk if anyone has opinions on either so need some help.

Hi, I think there's a new version of the PC app but it won't let me size the window to my preferred liking.

This is the smallest I can make it.

And it bothers me to no end, and when I use the web version to read, cos it won't show the docs that I uploaded, only the books bought or borrowed through amazon.

Does someone know if there's a way to fix this issue?

I just got this kindle from my sister and she told me it will block sometimes but after rebooting it it will work fine but now it keeps flashing like this.
Is there anything i can do about it or do i need to replace the batterie ?

This evening i was thinking about selling her i was using it much lately then I jailbroke it immediately amd I am in love with her again. I can keep looking at it all day. I am using koreader and so far i just customised the font, margin, wallpaper and status bar. I know i have a lot to discover yet. So could you all suggest me things i should do to enhance my reading experience.

I tried so many times to get into KOReader because, on paper, I should have absolutely loved it. I love modding my devices, personalizing them, and having all the good features I like.

But... tbh, I was superficial. I let the rather bad looks deceive me. I judged a book by its cover. Literally. I never fell in love. Until now.

I love how the community has made it so satisfying to mod, with all the plugins and patches. Huge thanks to the developers and everyone contributing to the project, because it was already amazing before but now is amazing FOR ME.

I finally got rid of the extra-complicated menu that I honestly don't want on my way all the time while reading, and can edit my fonts from a single menu page. I'm spoiled, I know lol. There's X-Ray! And you can customize your library! And you can sync all your e-readers, including my Oasis, my Kobo Clara color, and even the X4 with Crosspoint. I know you could do that before, but the UI was too ugly for me. I'm sorry. 😔 Apparently, I'm a terrible person and a UI snob.

Now I feel like I have the beautiful look and library organization of Kobo Nickel, plus most of Kindle's most interesting features, and underneath it all, the awesome power machine that is KOReader.

So yeah, apparently all KOReader needed was for it to stop being ugly and for me to give it a(nother) chance. Better late than never, I guess.

Really thank you to everyone that put their time on this amazing project from the beginning, and to everyone that finally made it enjoyable for me.

I’m planning to buy a Kindle Basic (2026) as a gift for my 12-year-old niece in the UK.

I think she’d love the Ube colour, but I couldn’t find a Kids version of it. Does one exist?

Does anyone have recommendations for kid-friendly cases compatible with the Kindle Basic (2026)? Or would you just go with the classic Ube-coloured case?

Also, would you recommend getting a screen protector, or is it unnecessary for a Kindle?

I recently bought this little lamp for night reading and it’s been a game changer when it comes to reading at night. It’s so much easier on the eyes and allows me to set the brightness on my Kindle at low level. It’s super flexible, has three different warmths and brightness is adjustable. I love it.

It’s amazing how lovely is small Kindle 😇 its like a baby kindle ! I love it and honestly considering swap my ppw for basic. Anyone did the same ? From bigger to smaller ?

My Kindle Colorsoft doesn’t sync reading progress, bookmarks or highlights with the iOS Kindle app for books sent via Send to Kindle. The books appear on both devices, but syncing fails with “Unable to Sync to Furthest Page Read.”
Sync Settings are ON and Personal Document Archiving is enabled. The books are listed under Docs in my Amazon account. I have Vera and KOReader installed, but I only read using the stock Kindle interface. My Clippings.txt is also missing.
Has anyone experienced this on firmware 5.20.1? Could Vera be causing it? Is deregistering and re-registering safe with the jailbreak installed?

Last night I was browsing through the kindle store for some Stephen King books. Pet Sematary was at the top of the bestselling list and, when I tapped it, everything seemed ok. Over 20k reviews, it was linked directly to Stephen King etc. and best part was it was 1€. So of course I bought it.

Then I went to my library and a random “TikTok made me buy it” thriller book was being downloaded. I checked my bank account and 1€ had been indeed spent on Amazon. Weird.

I went back to Pet Sematary’s page and pressed buy again. 1€ was again spent from my bank account, but this time the actual Stephen King book was added to my library.

I’ll try getting a refund for the first book. Even though it was only 1€, it creeps me out lmao.

Anyone had this happen?
