Hello everyone,

Currently, my iPad Pro is running iPadOS 26.7.1.
But I can experience frame drops quite easily like what I uploaded...

So I'm wondering it is worth updating my iPad to iPadOS 27...

Question ipad 8th gen!

just bought a rose gold 32gb ipad 8th generation from my good friend for what is a total of 130, but i'm paying in 3 (lol)! it's kind of awesome to have an ipad bc back when I was loaning one from school, using it for reading + studying was game changing for me, so when she told me she wanted to get this one off her hands (it's in great condition, she just has an ipad air now) i thought it was a really good deal! it also comes with an apple pencil she got + the paper screen protector, she gave me a charging cable (lightning to usb-c) and i'm gonna invest in a new case that has a keyboard (or just get a mech keyboard that i can connect to it) (also metal tips for the apple pencil)

so far, set up has been great! it's not (as) outdated as my ipod touch 5th so it's on ipadOS 26(?) which is neat and i'm excited! my only gripe is really just.....the 32gb of storage 😭😭😭 anyone know or recommend if it's possible to mod the storage? (or if you can pay someone to do it for not crazy expensive....) also! any recommendations for apps/best way to optimize this ipad or deco the widgets?

thanks!

iPadOS Overlapping crucial icons

I'm not sure where this problem originates. It started before the most recent ios update, it occurs on all apps (here you see screenshots from cosmos.so and amazon), and it's driving me nuts. I can't go back a screen without finagling my way past the standard 'close-minimize-full screen' icon set. Usually I end up closing the app and having to open it again. Has anybody had this problem and more important: know how to fix it?

Any insight appreciated.

Question Damaged 2yo iPad Air M2: Fix LCD ($285) or is 2 years enough to buy new ($830)?

Post image
5 Upvotes

Hey guys, pressure damaged my 2-year-old iPad Air M2 display and now it’s covered in black lines. I use my iPad every single day, so I need to solve this ASAP.

My options:

Option A: Replace screen with an original Apple LCD for $285

Option B: Buy a brand new one online (with vouchers) for $830

My dilemma: Is 2 years of daily use enough to justify replacing the whole tablet (its currently at 81% battery health), or does an M2 iPad still have way too much life left to abandon it over a screen issue?

The M2 chip handles everything easily and can easily last 5+ years, so spending 1/3 of the cost of a new one to get another 3 years of use seems smart. But $285 is still a big repair bill for a 2-year-old device.

Would you repair the LCD and keep running it, or just buy new?

Question Any chance we’d see Face ID on an iPad Air or Mini?

I am a Face ID supremacist. I really, really do not like Touch ID and that’s a big reason I couldn’t bring myself to want the Duo.

I hadn’t been following iPad news/releases since I got my iPad Pro 3rd gen in 2018 (which at the time was the only model with Face ID). But, I’m in the market again for a replacement and I just assumed that the more ā€œpremiumā€ models at least would have Face ID. In my head, that meant the Air and the Pro, though I came to learn the Mini is positioned more towards premium too.

But for some reason, the Air and the Mini lack Face ID. Why? Is it THAT much of a premium feature? Would the hardware necessary somehow compromise the designs of these models?

I guess I sort’ve answered my own question through my behavior - after all, I’m buying a Pro nearly solely due to Face ID support. But I can’t imagine most people decide based on that (do they??)

I’m just irritated that I’m ā€œforcedā€ into buying the high end pro models for such a seemingly basic feature when I don’t need any of the rest of the ā€œProā€ capabilities.

Question Low power mode

What do you think of Low Power Mode? I just bought an 11th-generation iPad and activated it to conserve battery life. How many hours should the battery last me with and without this mode? I only use it for taking notes.

Question Screen protector that would suit my lifestyle better

Hi everyone,

im a student who got their first IPad this December and I started to find micro-scratches ( only visible on certain angles ) on my "brand new" screen! I believe that it happened by putting it in my backpack without closing the Magic Keyboard correctly, and the keys lightly scratching the screen when I get in the train.

For context, its my first time having to carry something that expensive around daily, and it kinds of makes me nervous.

I do digital art with the apple pen, take notes manually and with the magic-keyboard and I play some videogames on it.

I heard that a too thick screen protector might damage my pen and drastically reduce the screen sensitivity, wich would reduce creativity with my iPad.

On the other hand, I fear that just a thin plastic film wouldnt be enough if I am not careful enough and drop my iPad, scratching the screen.

I'm afraid that I might damage my iPad even more by not doing anything about it, but I really appreciate carrying it around! Its so useful around my campus!

Do any of you have recommendations of what could suit me better?

Discussion Dropped my iPad (11th Gen) and it bent into a V-shape. It still works perfectly fine. Should I take it to a repair shop or keep using it as-is?

Hey everyone,

I accidentally dropped my iPad 11th Gen on the floor, and due to the impact, it now has a severe "V-shape" bend right in the middle of the left side (around the volume buttons).

Surprisingly, despite the hard drop and the frame being heavily bent, the screen didn’t crack at all. There are no dead pixels, no color bleeding, and the touch/display functions are working 100% fine. It turns on, boots up, and charges with no issues. I’ve been using it for 2 days now like nothing happened.

I am trying to decide what my next step should be and would love to hear your experiences or technical advice. I have two main questions:

  1. Can I just keep using it in this condition? Since it works perfectly fine right now, I’m tempted to just slap a heavy-duty, rigid case on it and leave it alone. But I am worried about the lithium battery inside. It’s obviously bent along with the frame. Is there a high risk of battery swelling, short-circuiting, or a fire hazard down the road if I keep using it daily?

  2. Should I take it to a third-party repair shop to get the frame pressed/straightened? Some shops offer to completely disassemble the iPad, take out the screen and motherboard, and use professional pressing tools to flatten the aluminum chassis. If I go down this route, what are the chances of the motherboard or screen dying during the disassembly process due to the current tension on the board?

Has anyone used a severely bent iPad for a long time without any issues? Or has anyone had success with getting an iPad frame laser-pressed back into shape?

Thanks in advance for your help!

Question Notability vs good notes

Hey guys I just wanted to ask what notes app is better notability or good notes. For reference I’m a college student doing science major and will be doing o chem and biochem eventually. Which one is best for studying and overall gives better functions. I wanted to ask specifically about these two apps but I’ve seen people talk about other apps in this subreddit as well

Question Wallpaper recommendations, what's your setup?

Just got a new iPad and I've been looking everywhere for wallpapers. Pinterest, Unsplash, Reddit, X, and everything is either low res or looks blurry once I set it.
So where do you guys get yours? Apps, sites, whatever works.
Also, if you're down to share your setup, I'd love some ideas for widgets and apps. I want to give mine some personality.

Discussion Should I upgrade?

Ok so I’m a student in pakistan (computer) and I need a new iPad maybe..

i have an iPad Air m2 which sometimes feels a bit lacking in performance and screen size…. I also go on a lot of trips, I use ai features often and I want the 13 Inch…

I was wondering if I should upgrade to the m5 pro 13’ or the m4 air 13’? I also will sometimes use a keyboard case (esr) and I travel a lot so battery is very very very important…

another thought was if I should even upgrade? Maybe wait for the m6?

Magic Keyboard ESR Rebound 360 vs Typecase Edge Magic for iPad Air M4 13-inch

Hey guys, I'm planning to buy a keyboard for my iPad Air M4 13-inch and I'm confused between ESR Rebound 360 and Typecase Edge Magic.

I like the floating design like Apple's Magic Keyboard, but I don't want to spend that much on Apple's original one.

I've seen some people mention magnetic issues with ESR, so I'm a bit concerned about that. Also, I want to know which one has a better and bigger trackpad.

If anyone is using either of these, how's the typing experience and build quality? Any issues after using it for a few months?

I know the Typecase doesn't have a detachable iPad case in the version I'm looking at.

Which one would you guys buy? Would really appreciate honest opinions, especially from people who have used them. Thanks!

iPadOS Thoughts on iPad 10th gen LLA variant

I initially sent my iPad to a technician for a charging port diagnosis. Unfortunately, due to improper handling or a mistake during the repair, the technician ended up damaging the motherboard, making a motherboard replacement necessary. The original agreed rate for the repair was ₱7,000.

As a compromise, the owner decided to purchase a secondhand iPad of the same model to use as a motherboard donor. However, he later offered to swap the entire unit for an additional ₱9,000 instead.

The catch is that the replacement iPad is an LL/A variant, along with other factors that need to be considered, such as the unit’s purchase date, condition, and overall value.

**Given the circumstances, is accepting the ₱9,000 unit swap a fair and reasonable deal, considering that the damage occurred while the iPad was under the technician’s care?**

Discussion Apple Pencil

So about a week ago, I lost my Apple Pencil 2nd generation in my dorm room.

I searched everywhere but couldn’t find it so I ordered a new one from eBay for Ā£15.

I got it in the mail yesterday and when I attached the Apple Pencil 2nd gen to my iPad, it didn’t properly connect to the iPad.

I’ve restarted the iPad a few times, reset network settings but still doesn’t connect.

I only get the Apple Pencil sign at the top of the screen (have a look in the picture provided)

What should I do to make it work?

Question Very broken iPad- Can it be fixed?

Thumbnail

Recently, I was drawing on my already cracked iPad in bed and covered it with my blanket as I was getting up. When I went to get back into bed, forgetting it was under my blanket, I accidentally drove my knee into the screen, and of course, it went completely black. I'm wondering if it's even possible to get it fixed. I want to avoid buying a new one as I have several finished drawings in it that aren't saved, and will be deleted. The screen turns off and on like normal and it's bent slightly. The 3 images are of it turned off, turned on, and from the side.

Question Is my ipad or my Apple pen broken?

My Apple pen has been stuck at the same percentage or lower when I charge, even when I have my ipad on full battery. I tried connecting my old Apple Pencil to see if it has the same problem and it charged to 90 very fast, but immediately dropped back to 7 and refuse to increase. Do I have to buy some kind of Apple pen charger?

Question iPad Pro 13ā€ as a travel replacement for MBP - thoughts on weight?

I travel relatively frequently and often, I’ve got to travel with my work machine (to work remote), a 16ā€ Pro that’s rather heavy.

I have been taking my personal MacBook (a 14ā€ Pro) along with it so I can do my personal things like manage my budget software, travel plan, browse, manage HOA things, etc. If I weren’t so uncomfortable doing personal things on the work machine, I’d only bring the one. But alas…

It’s just so cumbersome to carry those two chonkers…along with the iPad Pro 11ā€ (3rd gen) that my spouse and I use for watching media, mainly on the plane, but sometimes in the hotel.

I’ve been thinking about upgrading to a newer iPad Pro and thought I could get the Magic Keyboard Case and replace my MacBook while traveling. BUT when I went to an Apple Store to check it out (the 13ā€ version)…my god it’s the same weight as a MacBook Air!

Even the 11ā€ with Magic Keyboard was far heavier than I imagined. Obviously, we’re still talking much lighter than carrying both an 11ā€ iPad Pro and a MacBook Pro…but I gotta admit, I was somewhat disheartened by the weight generally.

So I guess my question is, is the Magic Keyboard the best case to use if I’m treating it like a MacBook replacement? Is the extra weight worth it or are there better cases out here with minimal compromises, but significantly lighter?

iPadOS How is the 2020 iPad Pro (A12Z) holding up on iPadOS 27 in 2026?

My iPad Air 4 was stolen, and my sister is upgrading to the M4 iPad Air, so she’s giving me her old iPad Pro 2020 with the A12Z chip.
Since I’ll be using it as my main iPad, I’m wondering how well the 2020 iPad Pro is holding up on iPadOS 27.
