This. If you’re clever you can get multi-device syncing going for free.

You're going to get a ton of different answers. The nice thing is if they are free, you can try them and see what works for you. Beware, some of them are free but only up to a limit. And right now, stay away from Notability--every day there are people here saying that they LOST all their notes on Notability--not worth the risk.

Personally I like OneNote--a free Microsoft App. It does everything I need it to do, and it's cross platform because my work computer is a PC.

One note uses your Microsoft account data (free 5gb per account) so it should be good for your needs. If you need more, they have $2-3 per month options for about 100gb of storage.

I have been researching this as well. What I have came up with so far is the old fashioned Notes app. Why? because I was finding other apps don't allow you to have files. Call me crazy, but to keep my notes organized I need folders.... There are some good Youtube videos that explain features and benefits that came in handy.

I searched for this capability for a long time and this is one thing I love about Obsidian. I own my notes files. I can organize them in folders using a file browser on the computer or in the notes apps on my mobile devices. I can open the files in other apps if I want (though I don't know why I would), so if Obsidian went out of business, I'd still have all my notes. I also keep the notes backed up on external drives in different places so there's no single point of failure.

I've tried a lot of notes apps over the years and Obsidian is by far the best I've found for my needs. The catch is, I pay the $48/year to sync my notes across 7 devices, but there are lots of options to sync your notes for free. The best part is, my notes are completely secure and backed up in different places so I can never lose them. Before Obsidian, I mostly used Google Keep and and Google Drive. The Apple Notes app is also pretty good.

Are there any plug-ins in obsidian that let you take hand written notes. I know in obsidian if you write it changes it to text but let's say you wanted something in handwriting is it possible? And are there any plug-ins that make that handwriting searchable ?

yeah there's a handwriting Community Plugin you can download. I've never used it because my handwriting is much slower than typing, but I assume you could draw something and edit it later.

EDIT: I found a bunch of plugins for handwriting notes. I doubt the handwritten text is searchable though.

Just use the default Apple Notes. It’s completely free, has no file or note limits, supports folders, and handles both handwriting with Apple Pencil and typing seamlessly.

Notion and Craft both are great on their free tiers.
