Discussion Should I upgrade?

Ok so I’m a student in pakistan (computer) and I need a new iPad maybe..

i have an iPad Air m2 which sometimes feels a bit lacking in performance and screen size…. I also go on a lot of trips, I use ai features often and I want the 13 Inch…

I was wondering if I should upgrade to the m5 pro 13’ or the m4 air 13’? I also will sometimes use a keyboard case (esr) and I travel a lot so battery is very very very important…

another thought was if I should even upgrade? Maybe wait for the m6?

If you want a bigger screen, go for m4 air 13”. The m5 pro is worth it if you really want the OLED display and 120Hz but I wouldn’t upgrade just for performance.

the battery on the m4 air should be solid too which seems like a big factor for OP

i would wait for M5 oled ipad air or M6 pro , this will hopefully be better for battery, the newer m4 has VERY POOR battery life people struggle to get 3 hours max , M5 pro users also have same issues

what reason do you wish to upgrade, do you use apps or functions that require higher ram

13” ipad air isn’t a device you can comfortably hold in your hand like 11” device, it’s more suitable for desk or apple magic case , i’m still using M1 and it is lightning fast on ios27.2 developer beta, this will drop for everyone on 26th with ios27.1 integration built into it .

if battery is important the stronger chip isn’t going to give you longer lasting battery life , as i’ve said people struggle to get 3 hours on M4 air and M5 pro , that’s a hell of a lot of money to downgrade battery life ,it’s not worth it , perhaps M5 oled screen will lower the need for battery power and it looks like it will get significant redesign with heat sinks built in that this ipad has been screaming out for .

early ios27 has not been kind to M4/M5 users but hopefully that improves but i certainly wouldn’t spend a small fortune go get 3 hours battery life , when i got my M1 air i could get 10-12 hours on it .

Even M5 pro users have exact same complaints

wait for redesigned oled ipad/pro models with heat sinks , overheating and battery drain is definitely the biggest issue with ipad air/ pro series , each chip bump has only made the device worse , heat sinks should have been priority for these device long ago , apple was too busy pumping out new products to care about quality.

now the price is sky high and they know they need to resolve these problems or sales will plummet.
