Politics / Democracy Hypocrisy at its finest
BJP organised numerous protests before coming to power, and they were able to challenge the government and its decisions publicly. So why is a protest against an individual or an institution being treated differently now? If the protest is against the Election Commission, an institution that is supposed to function independently of political influence, why was the government trying to stop it?
In 2014, BJP itself protested against the Election Commission when Narendra Modi was denied permission to hold a rally in Varanasi. At the time, BJP questioned the Commission’s neutrality and demanded accountability. So why is a similar challenge to the Election Commission now being labelled an anti-national movement or dismissed as propaganda? Shouldn’t the same democratic principles apply regardless of which party is in power?
CJP is not a mainstream political party or the official opposition, but that does not mean it has no right to question those in power. The right to peaceful protest does not belong exclusively to political parties or the opposition. Any group or citizen should be able to raise concerns about public institutions, provided they do so within the law.
I also find it contradictory when people bring up the Emergency imposed by Congress in 1975 to criticise the party, yet justify restrictions on dissent when the BJP government is challenged. Yes, Congress imposed the Emergency, curtailed civil liberties and suppressed ,but how does Congress’s past misconduct justify similar restrictions by another government today? If we recognise the Emergency as an attack on democracy, shouldn’t we be equally concerned whenever freedom of expression and peaceful protest are threatened, regardless of which party is responsible?
Holding one party accountable for its past does not give another party a free pass in the present. Democracy cannot be defended selectively. If protesting against those in power was a democratic right when BJP was in opposition, that right should not suddenly become anti-national or propaganda when someone else exercises it against BJP.

Opinion Loud nuisance at 6 am
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
This is happening in Pune at 6 am, in a completely residential neighbourhood. How is this reasonable? And how is it acceptable to subject an entire neighbourhood to this level of noise so early in the morning? This is particularly disappointing.
Jain religion is rooted in ahimsa towards all living beings. Jain maharasaab cover their mouths with a muhpatti to minimise harm to even the smallest organisms, walk barefoot to avoid harming life beneath their feet, and place immense value on restraint and self-discipline.
So how can you justify the repeated use of loudspeakers, dhols and other forms of noise that disturb an entire residential neighbourhood? This isn’t an isolated incident. It happens regularly in one form or another, often with large crowds gathering outside the temple.
Religious freedom deserves respect. But so does the peace, sleep and well-being of the people who live around a place of worship. These two things
should not be mutually exclusive.
This isn’t an argument against Jainism or anyone’s right to practise their faith. It’s a question of whether our public expression of religion reflects the very values we claim it stands for.
If non-violence begins with compassion for the smallest forms of life, shouldn’t consideration for the people living right next door be part of it too?

Politics / Democracy Is current hate given to government reasonable really?!
I feel like we are blaming government too much. No body is pointing fingers on CJP really? When they didn’t receive permission they planned protest. Government tried to stop it.
Truthfully speaking SIR revision is needed as many people even from surrounding countries has came in literally got pan card, ration card and voter id aswell. Why shouldn’t government stop it.
USA is doing same thing when we try to compare with other countries. They will not go on streets do protest.
This is a democracy people should raise their questions through proper channels instead of just coming streets breaking properties. The problem occurs the lower income are most affected due to this protest.
Aswell, it doesn’t look like the main person incharge is unbiased he is totally biased. They didn’t raise questions when Punjab was getting affected. Neither any questions were raised in Jharkhand. How can some be the leader?
Why all of sudden all the foreign media even Reddit groups is all abt CJP. It clearly shows there is vested interest. Why don’t people see it?! Ask questions but not in such way.

Opinion Why can't we collectively understand this as a country?
What we are seeing right now is an attempt to mainstream the 'idea' of a regime change.
Little by little, every day.
No one is advocating violence openly.
Everyone is legally correct and morally ambiguous.
Neha Bora wears a One Piece t-shirt to the protest, which was the symbol of the Gen-Z protests in Nepal, that stormed government buildings. But haha it's just a shirt, why would you make more of it? Don't overreact.
She also claims she is inspired from the revolution in Bangladesh. No mentions of the Hindu massacres or houses of politicians being burnt. Her inspiration could just be the 'spirit of change', why would you assume more? Students all over the world just want better lives, duh!
Dhruv Rathee is only appealing to the conscience of the Army and Cops to do 'the right thing'. What is wrong about that? Shouldn't they do the right thing instead of 'following orders'? Orders can be wrong, you know.
Prashant Bhusan is clearly saying he wants a regime change. But it could also be through elections. Why would you assume it would be a violent overthrow? Did he say that?
Everyday you hear some or the other politician dog-whistle that the 'faisla' will happen on the 'streets' now. What faisla, they don't elaborate. What do they mean by streets? Violence? Or just pressure groups? Not clear.
The CEC is now being called 'Gyanu' in pop-culture. It's the Pappu-fication of a constitutional figure so people don't take him as seriously anymore. The CJI is politely (and impolitely) being called a 'sellout' or 'compromised' by different people to different degrees.
International media and reels have already joined the bandwagon of 130 million deleted voters. International audiences are being told that the Indian government has gone unhinged and there are 'big protests' against the government.
This is the setting of a stage.
To normalize the idea of a regime change, which is not through the ballot box.
Everything and everyone is compromised.
Are you just going to sit and watch, or do something about it?
Get angry now.
When the time is right, we will get to the 'doing' stage.

Politics / Democracy CJP is playing with the youth
The protester or so called "Gen Z" is getting played by CJP. At first CJP started with correct motives. They had one goal which was fighting the paper leaks, which is a big problem, u have to agree doesn't matter which side u belong to. But now, the so called "Gen Z" party is filled with old, slimy and filthy people who failed as politicians and rich kids/celebrities who need some exposer. I do not understand HOW, like HOW do these "FUTURE" of our country don't understand and see the CLEAR manipulation happening to them. These DISGUSTING people, who have NOTHING going on in there life with NO job (and will never get one) and have education of a 5th grader are controlling them. They call modi a coward and a dictator at the same time, what? if he was a dictator, you would have been thrown in jail by now, all of the CJP officials i mean, but they aren't. I can already smell the leftist from so far. I am not really fond of modi as well, but i m fond of yogi because SOO many things have changed in my area cause of them. I am grateful to them but i also dont want people my age (Not really) to get manipulated and played with so easily. CJP is now a party made for hating right wing (which is BJP).
Drop what you think about CJP below, i would love to hear...

Opinion Since when did non-governmental cultural, ideological, and socio-political organizations get a Police Uniform?
Genuine question: Who gave groups like Bajrang Dal, RSS-affiliated vigilantes, non-governmental cultural, ideological, and socio-political organizations, left wing or self-appointed youth groups the authority to control mobs, assault people or enforce their version of the law?
In India, maintaining law and order is the job of authorised police and other legally empowered forces—not random groups claiming to protect religion, culture, or society.
If they assault people, they should face legal consequences like anyone else. A uniform doesn't put anyone above the law, and a religious slogan doesn't grant anyone police powers.
And no, the answer isn't to lynch them back. That would make us no different from them.
If mob violence is wrong, it's wrong regardless of who commits it. Arrest them, prosecute them, and let the law do its job. No selective justice. No vigilante justice.
What do you do when an MLA or ruling party leader protects people accused of mob violence?
Complain to senior police officials, approach the courts, document the evidence, and expose the issue through credible media.
But what if the system itself is compromised?
That's exactly why we need independent investigations, witness protection, and judicial accountability.
No political connection should put anyone above the law. And no, the solution isn't counter-lynching—it's making sure the law actually works, regardless of who the accused knows.

Opinion What the f*ck is this new subtle caste capitalism??
Matrimony firstly introduced various ways to make people easily get in religion based choices now yet getting to caste based is going much deep down.
Any thoughts 💭💭..
