My Leda was an archer. Seems like the axe should go to the queen lady and the bow should goto Leda.

So don't buy the game until 2027, got it.

The game is already like 200 hours with just the current 4 lords. 4 more will add another 100+ hours, plus replaying act 3 again brings that to another +140-160 hours.
So with the DLC you are looking at a 350-400 hour game. . .

I really wish we don't have to replay Part 2 and 3, and they would give us alternate obelisk for those parts

u/Marauding_Llama 41m ago
If I buy and beat it now, I either need to replay everything when all the dlc is out next year or jump back into a 6+ month old save and hope I remember what's going on. So I'll wait, maybe it even goes on sale (yeah, right).

Doing Act 1 for 4 characters is a lot, but 8 in one sitting will be truly degenerate imo.

An insane opinion to have if you knew anything about the game. Playing act 1 8 times in a row would be absolutely mind numbing

jrpg games are always 100+ hours... using price/hour as a metric is unfair to other genres.. the game just released and they are already announcing a paid DLC.. if that is not money grab I don't know what is

I mean do what you gotta do, but there's already a ton of content in this game. I wouldn't say the cut routes really detract from the game in any way

Really disagree with that on the basis of story alone. There’s so much setup in Act 1 that gets hamfistedly expedited “somehow Palpatine returned”-style or is straight up unaddressed in subsequent parts, with assumption it was cut route content. This is all but absolute confirmation.
I’ve a hefty amount of hours in the game and not saying it’s not worth buying, but it is not in the best shape it’s likely going to be at least from a narrative standpoint.

As the first Fire Emblem game that got me to stick, I am so excited for this. Maybe it’s because of the games accessibility to newcomers like me or because of the lore? IDK. I’m just excited.

idk.. with act 3 becoming such a fuckin management chore.. Idk if I'll go back. I wanted to love that game, and I did, Act 1 and 2 were great, act 3 felt like it was developed by someoen else

a fuckin management chore
This has been my main gripe with the past 2 games. I like the battling, but they shoved too much busy work in mini games in a separate portion of the game that is more padding than entertainment. By the end of Engage, I was skipping a bunch of it because it just didn't provide purpose or fun. In Three Houses, the Monastery had HORRIBLE stuttering.

I'm doing all the part 1s first and I'm on my 4th and final one and at this point I'd welcome the other 4 being half the length of the others. I can't do this repetitive weekly chores and world map running around again lol.

You won't have to for like, 5 months. That's a good break before you come back later.

u/Adorably_M 59m ago
I'm in the same boat. It feels really bloated and all the weekly chores and the world map stuff aren't really fun. Can't imagine doing this to myself 4 more times.

u/YoYoGuyz 54m ago
I just finished my second one and honestly I skip most of the weekly chores stuff now unless I’m desperately trying to get something. The karma shard thing lets you gain experience and skills faster so I don’t need the training as much, and recruiting i stopped going overboard with trying to get every support.

I guess I have wait for DLC before starting Part 3, hoping for QoL free updates alongside DLC

u/Medievalhorde 4m ago
If you get every unit between the four stories, It’s actually hilarious how long level up screens are in act 3. How they didn’t add a skip level up function is beyond me.

u/ohsofancy 54m ago
I started on act 3 with Theodora and it was legitimately hard lol. I thought the game was just gonna be a grind like that

u/bubbascal 1h ago
Leda getting Raging Storm, a Combat Art that Edel's axe enables, is already wild when Leda is the dancer of the game lmao
Also is it confirmed that the Bertand, Taimun, Orchel and Anatolia were all added? I haven't finished Theo's story yet but I did notice how those 4 were suspiciously well developed... it's actually sad that we could've had an "Octopath Emblem" game but no 😔

I don't think it gonna that crazy. if the answerer is any sign. These are also prototypes (to fit the lore), so I think that will explain why they don't have their 3 effects or stats..

Hmmm do I just add fortunes weave to my backlog and wait for all the content to come out for it? Kinda tempted because I'm not sure I'd do a second playthrough... But again maybe on maddening lol

u/BlameTheNargles 5m ago
Any mention of maddening mode? Haven't started part 2 or 3 yet but definitely wanting harder content
•
u/BlackTecno 4m ago
Part 2 and 3 are much harder than part 1. Not maddening difficulty, but definately challenging.
Granted I'm playing on Hard/Classic and refuse to use blessings if at all possible, so that's my angle.

u/XRevive01 3m ago
"that were cut"
Feel like it's a deliberate choice rather than cutting them to resell as DLC, b/c why not just have them in the game then and why resell as DLC?

u/IdoMusicForTheDrugs 35m ago
I'm halfway through act1 and getting incredibly bored. Starting to have to force turning the game on like it's a job. In no world will I want to play any more characters.

Yeah I played through 2 parts ones. No chance of me finishing the game if I did all 4.
If there was 8 there would be 0 chance of me even getting through all the part ones.
I will finish the game with my 2 part ones done, then in a year or 3 I will do a second run with another 1-2 Leaders going through part 1. Not sure which I would pick TBH with 6 choices.

I literally fucking hate Nintendo when it comes to dlc. Pokemon Sword/Shield came out like 6 years ago and the $30 dlc for them have never had a discount from Nintendo in all of that time according to dekudeals. That's absurd if you ask me. I already have a hard time justifying any dlc purchase, but Nintendo's high prices and lack of discounts make skipping them even easier. Pokemon is even worse, since you'd need to buy the dlc separately for both games in a gen, rather than at least letting players by the dlc once to work with both versions. This is pure greed and they only get away with because of rabid pokemon fans.
I'd say I'm relieved to have not bought FW yet, but even if Nintendo does a game + dlc bundle, it'll just be the full price of the game + dlc making it nothing more than a novelty, rather than a way to save a few bucks. Anyway, rant over.

u/DeeFB 29m ago
I feel like every Nintendo rant on this sub boils down to “I don’t like the Pokemon Company” and then they blame those things on Nintendo instead.
3
u/SolarisPrime 25m ago
It's absolutely true that Nintendo doesn't put things on sale. That's not just the Pokemon company or Game Freak.
I just think it's fine that Nintendo doesn't put things on sale.
1
u/DeeFB 19m ago
Oh yeah that part I agree with. They could probably up the amount of sales for games that are from the 2010s at the very least and it’s a bit silly they don’t.
I just find it’s funny that so many complaints about Nintendo on this sub almost always revolve around a Pokemon practice that Nintendo actually doesn’t follow or have much of a say in.
3
u/SolarisPrime 14m ago
Nintendo doesn't want a $40 Mario game from the 2010s competing with a $60 or $70 Mario game today, because Nintendo philosophically and strategically believes that games do not degrade in quality over time, that their back catalogue is on par with recent releases, and that letting gamers get in the habit of waiting for a sale is bad for business.
It's not the most consumer friendly policy but when you look at the race to the bottom on sale pricing, the way that gamers wait for sales on Ubisoft games to the point that it's a well-known joke you can save 90% by waiting 90 days, and where the other major platformer-holders are today, it's hard to argue against their business savvy.
1
u/planeforger 17m ago
Well, it's not absolutely true. They have sales on their first party titles, just not the deep 90% off sales you'd see from other publishers.

u/Alarak40k 32m ago
So they sold me hafe a story and are charging me around 40 bucks to read the missing pages a year later. Fuck you IS.

u/Schmenza 1h ago
Remember when Nintendo used to put out complete games...
4
5
u/YoYoGuyz 57m ago
Yeah…also remember beating them in like an afternoon. Now I get a 120 hour game that maintains its quality and an optional chance to add even more if I still want it when I’m done. The horror. Really wish they’d stop giving us purchases we can choose not to buy without it impacting the story! Damnit!
-6
u/Paweron 54m ago
120 hours because you need to do utterly brainless grinding sessions for at least half of that time
4
u/YoYoGuyz 52m ago
I skipped most of that stuff after the first character. The karma shards let me unlock faster exp and skill gain so the training became less important. Fair though there is a lot of grindiness.

Bro outing himself as being illiterate is legitimately the funniest thing I've seen on here today lmfao

Do they ever add actual full maps or is the only not brain dead scenario the arena maps

u/Logondo 52m ago
Fuck me, I’m 90hrs in and haven’t even finished all of Act 1 yet.
