Please Stand By for our Fallout 76 Letter from the Directors, detailing exciting additions on the horizon for Appalachia from Creative Director Jon Rush and Production Director Bill LaCoste:
Today, many of you will start to see media and content creators talk about the upcoming Fallout 76: World Pets update (arriving this Winter) and our near-term roadmap for the future of Appalachia.
As always, we want to make sure you hear from us, as we look to a strong future for Fallout 76 that continues to be informed by you.
Bethesda Game Studios has the best community in gaming. Fallout 76 stands out in our catalog by allowing our wonderful to play in the same world together; adventuring, exploring, questing, and making new friends along the way.
A lot of growth has happened in those many years, both for us as developers and for you as gamers. One major area of growth has been getting to know our community- you, yes, you- reading this at home, at work, or in your car (actually, don’t read while driving).
Our community comprises a wide range of players. When putting together our roadmaps, a big challenge is to make sure all types are getting something new and exciting throughout the year.
We’re excited to share with you what the team is preparing from now into the Summer of 2027.
WORLD PETS ARRIVES THIS WINTER
In December of this year, your C.A.M.P. Pet can become your “C.A.M.P.-panion!”
“World Pets” makes all C.A.M.P. Pets, just… PETS! The more you adventure with your pet, the more capable they become as they level up right beside you. The interactions from C.A.M.P. Pets all carry over, with several new additions to Stay, Follow, Protect, and even to Kill!
Winter is a time for our “Wasteland Wanderers” to rediscover the rolling hills of Skyline Valley with their trusty pet by their side.
The Wasteland can be a dangerous place, and the rise of bounties in the area sheds light on why the Blue Ridge Caravan Company was forced to shutter operations in Skyline Valley.
Bounty Hunting in Skyline Valley! What a great reason to take your newly combat hardened pet out on a walk.
CLEAR HIDEOUTS FOR BIG BOUNTIES NEXT SPRING
This past year has borne a marked increase in crime as bands of brave adventurers have taken up bounties to purge the worst from the Wasteland. For The Ghoul, business has been booming!
Smaller bounties have given way to larger contracts, and now a few Bounty Hunters have heard rumors of dangerous Hideouts in the dark, abandoned corners of Appalachia.
Hideouts are home to the Wasteland’s WORST of the worst. These encampments are poised to be much more challenging, encouraging teams to try different pathways and strategies to take out the prized head honcho.
At most levels, Hideouts acts as a much-needed steppingstone between the early endgame and Raids.
Hideouts also offer a little more: the new "Marked" difficulty will test even the best of the best teams for the best rewards.
And to make things a little more complicated...
...you and your friends aren’t the only bounty hunters seeking riches…
Meet The Drifter. He aims to eliminate the competition- that’s you- and keep all the rewards to himself. Experienced hunters lucky enough to thwart The Drifter will be exceptionally rewarded and renowned!
Who is this masked menace? A rogue agent? An Enclave Operative?
The Wasteland can truly be a very dangerous place!
Beware The Drifter…
PREPARE FOR RAVEN ROCK
A cold war heats up in the southeast between two derelict operators of the Enclave as our map expands once again.
This time towards the Capital Wasteland, giving players an acrid taste of the region almost 200 years before the events of Fallout 3.
Scabbed cliffs pocked in black snow…
…congealed with ashes of death from the destruction that rained down only 27 years ago.
This is the story that precedes the Lone Wanderer’s infamous journey and sets the stage for the inevitable.
Coming next year, “The Enclave will not rest until stability is restored.”
AND MORE!
Along the way, we have work spinning for improvements to several existing features such as Seasonal Events, rendering, weather, the new player experience, and even fishing. Our rivers and streams will continue to spawn new seasonal fish, with rumors of a glittering gold Axolotl being spotted here and there. There’s gold in them hills!
This is all happening over the next year, my goodness! We have features planned for years down them country roads!
There will always be a place for those large updates that bring new places to adventure, new stories to experience, and new friends. There will also be those updates that thicken the Fallout 76 experience across the entire map, enriching the daily play sessions for everyone.
To you, our wonderful community, here’s to many more years of rebuilding Appalachia together.
The only thing I do in this game is try to get Max health and max damage on my character. What the fuck is this? I don’t even use power armor, but I died the first time thinking oh maybe I just need power armor so I put my fucking Vulcan power armor on and it did jack fucking shit.
Half-joking, but feel like every time I join a team and do Daily Ops, there's always one person wearing a PSS Outfit, and when I turn around and they're there, I unload a few rounds before I realize.
I scrap every single 4* I get and have easily gone through hundreds since they were introduced. While clearing my inventory I was lucky enough to pull my first craftable 4 Star Mod.
I don't need Satiated, but finally being able to craft anything was an exciting part of the morning.
It's a novelty mostly, but a fun and strong one that takes advantage of several mechanical interactions.
The short version is you can use a final word 50cal in hand to easily top off both bullet storm and onslaught stacks and use that ~400% damage boost intended for ranged and instead use it as a buff for pain train(perk) melee blender.
The long version is perks, legendary effects, and unique weapon effects that apply to the weapon in hand largely apply to pain train attacks.
Holding a final word you can splatter enemies with pain train and they will add to your bullet storm stack and bullet storm also applies to paintrain. The furious 5% and guerilla 5% damage for each stack of onslaught also apply to pain train.
You can sprint at an enemy while locking on in vats. This will send you into a very tight and dizzy spiral around the target. You are close enough though that you'll continually make pain train attacks without consuming more AP than it takes to sprint. These attacks will charge your crit meter and even crit once filled.
that's it. Take 3/4 of the major damage sources and apply it to both ranged and melee.
if you take Paintrain+iron fist, onslaught perks, and bullet storm perks that's the bones. Get a final word and a set of choochoo Tesla bracer power armor and you are good to go. Use final word to charge your Paintrain, then use your Paintrain attacks to stretch your bullet storm reload loss, and charge onslaught stacks before blending a boss.
There are some very strange mechanics if anyone wants to play it.
* Paintrain alone wount take onslaught stacks above 9, just shoot them till you reach 21 stacks then go back to sprinting and they wount decay.
* Paintrain doesn't degrade weapons or armor. Enemies drop ammo for the weapon in hand. Very resource positive. Soloed aan infestation and the durability of my stuff didn't visually change.
* Gunslinger master will NOT remove stacks when paintraining a target. Meaning if you are heading into a boss fight slot master and your stacks wount diminish and it's an extra 100% damage boost.
* Paintrain does absolutely ZERO limb damage. That's okay because I had to abandon the limb damage stuff anyway.
* Conductors is nice because it appears well to both ranged and melee but polished also works well with Paintrain taking a lot of the durability loss.
What’s the point of having a timed uninvited guest that’s barely showing up and definitely not dropping anything, but garbage. I have not seen a single new plan. If they were going to give us two weeks at least up the spawn chance for the uninvited guests.
I was on an almost dead server, just three of us. A notification popped up saying the server would shut down soon, and then the Mischief Night event started. With only 14 minutes left, I thought it was impossible to almost solo the event, but I decided to give it a try.
Another level 200 player joined me, while the third guy didn’t bother. We kicked it off, and I’ve never felt such a rush during most events. The clock was ticking as we danced, jumped, and took out enemies as quickly as possible, it felt like a scene from the movie Six String Samurai, going ballistic on NPCs. Midway through, I started feeling hopeless when I had to search for Trick or Treat bowls or graffiti spots, wasting precious seconds.
Near the end, with barely any time left, three Legendary Assaultrons appeared. They’re tough, but the Tesla Cannon handled them beautifully. Honestly, the Tesla Cannon carried us through the whole ordeal. The cherry on top was the arrival of the Uninvited Pint-Sized Slasher, and we gave it our all to beat him. We finished with only 17 seconds left on the timer! What a Roar Man!
I’d really like to be able to decorate my camp like a house. I’m talking upright books ,cups ,utensils, plates, bowls, food, paper, pencils, a laundry hamper or basket and other materials, anything that makes a house look lived in. I only have 30 chessboards and that isn’t enough. I have an idea for a desk that has a writing animation that gives you intelligence. Also, a baby crib would be nice. They need to have a family bundle full of clutter that a house would typically have. 😆
I’m kinda just looking for some opinions/recommendations from the regulars and veterans of the game. I’ve been playing since the BETA, but I just hit the cap limit for the first time because I always spend caps on plans and other stuff at player vendors. Now, however, it’s getting a lot less common to find plans that I don’t already have, and I don’t want to waste the caps on dumb stuff. Should I go try to maximize how many Leader Bobbleheads I can get from player vendors at good prices? Should I keep hunting for plans and other goodies that I don’t already have? Obviously sitting at the max isn’t ideal, how do you prefer to spend the caps these days? Are there any must-haves that I should get from NPC vendors?
Figured I’d share my camp I’ve been working on! This is probably my favorite one I’ve built so far. Also if you stop by check the mailbox. I’ll dump random ammo/aid items or stuff i pick up along the way that im not gonna sell in my vendor. Would be cool if we could build our own camp donation boxes.
I am sorry if this has been asked before. I couldnt find it if it was.
I am just curious... because we have to unlock everything in order on the legacy season, and some of the items are fo1st. If you dont have fo1st, do you get to just skip over those items and continue claiming the season?
Because as someone with fo1st, who doesn't want many of those fo1st items, it kinda feels like a punishment to have to claim them. 😅

All my neighbors have skeletons, dragons, and giant spiders. I want a blow up Grafton Monster, Protectron, Robobrain, Blue Devil, Bloated Glowing Ghouls, and a Sentry Bot with a red headlight. Ok, and a Vault Boy and Girl. Maybe even one each of the Bobbleheads. For the completionists.
