Why am I ONLY getting notifications about infestations when they’re done?

I think they’re auto clearing for some reason. I was watching my map recently looking for an infestation and one popped up and promptly disappeared without anyone going to the map location.

I had the same experience, but literally with 2 different Infestations. One popped up in the Forest and auto-cleared, then immediately another in the Mire, again auto-cleared immediately.

When the infestations are working, they seem to work, and I can do several before naturally moving servers for one reason or another. (I play 4 characters.) When they immediately clear like this, they seem to continue to also do that on the server. So I think it's a server-specific bug. When I see this happen, I hop servers.

Idk but my favorite thing about it is Bethesda putting in the patch notes that it was fixed last time 😆

I think the only time I’ve ever been able to join them is if I’m in a group with somebody who’s walked into an area with one. Otherwise, they show up as a notification and then they are immediately cleared.

And when you look them up on the map, there’s nobody there. If there was a real infestation there should at least a few players hanging around after it’s done. But nothing. Perhaps they are ghost infestations. The game cancels them immediately after it announced them.

I noticed that yesterday. One supposedly got cleared at the Palace but there wasn't a single person hanging around there. I just figured I was missing them but I definitely don't think that now lol

The only ones I've been able to do are ones my teammates or myself have found. Which is a total of 2 in the last two weeks and I've been actively looking for them.

Same here, and by the time I spawn in, the boss has shown up; it just makes me reroll any task involving killing the pint sized bastards in an infestation.

The old explanation that "the boss spawned as a regular MOB and was instakilled by mole rats" doesn't hold up any more. Now it is supposed to spawn minions, who have to be killed before the boss will spawn.

I think someone said if you walk near the area at all they eventually time out and it says they were “cleared” but really they just died off

The worst is when you get there, clear the mobs, then the boss doesn’t spawn and the infestation disappears

That's a bug that's been an issue since they introduced infestations. It just seems more prevalent since they added notifications for them.

Game is a hot mess right now. I logged in this morning, and kept getting notifications that "An Infestation at AIM Testing Site has been cleared". At least three times, maybe more, not found, just cleared. Was bored so I FTd and only normal mobs to be found. Then one popped up at Pleasant Valley Cabins so I went, died, spawned in the basement, and all the doors were solid white and there was no exit. Finally FTd (after the 13 second countdown) to the location just as the boss died. There was another player trying to get out also. Enemies die, and continue to run in circles for a ridiculous time after. Kill an enemy right after FTing, and it doesn't subtract the ammo. Shooting enemies in VATS @ 95% does no damage for six shots, then hip shoot once and they explode. Esp robots for some reason.

Has anyone been able to do any infestations? I managed to get one online, unsure how or why, like other have said they just disappear immediately. It sucks wasting all my rerolls on these challenges.

I do infestations whenever possible. Haven't seen any since update except for one day last week when it seemed like they were working and I did 3. Nothing since then. They are eating my re-rolls when they show up on dalies.

I've done about 12 infestations all of last week, and since reset yesterday about 3. Just enough to cover the weekly completions but sitting at 8/30 kills.

I play maybe 1-3 hours a day and do 1-3 infestations a day. Usually depends on how closely I watch the map

I got one last night that didn't instantly complete itself.

"Score!" I thought, pun unintended.

I got there, and the mobs were actually Elite this time too!

"Double Score!" Again, Unintended.

I run around Buck's Den, killing elite mobs. Things are going great. One non Elite Slasher runs up and catches an Ultracite .45 in the dome. Infestation instantly clears. No loot on that last Slasher.

Infestation didn't count on my Weekly.

Yesterday was the first time I saw an infestation on the map in a long time... and it was a black smudge. I was still expecting a green circle. I knew they changed it, but I hadn't seen it happen till yesterday.

I’ve had a number of successful infestations lately (PC), but I also had an incredibly frustrating UNsuccessful one.

It went as they’re supposed to go all the way up to finally downing the boss after minutes of bullet sponging.

And he was empty. Zero loot.

Yeap, same thing was last week.It really seems its done on purpose, there is now way this game is taht broken and they cant fix it.Had to reroll all kill 6 and kill 20 and finsh 3 events.They really dont want us to take full advantage of score boosters and make us spend more premium rerolls.

I've not seen anyone mention the most obvious reason for this. Beth has set the Infestations to do this to force players to use rerollers. And guess what isn't in the lvl 150 SCOREboard page. That's right, no rerollers this time, but not to fear intrepid adventurer, Beth will be happy to sell you some for real money in the ATOM shop.

It's a plot to make people buy rerollers because Beth doesn't give a shit about their customers, just their customer's money.

Yeah. This would happen with those past mob attack events. Used to be a mob would attack a location, but the mob was of those inhabitants. Robot mob, robot hang out. Every once in a while you show up to a mismatch and grab popcorn.

Also I noticed with hella juiced baddie events, big baddie would spawn and his features would load in. This sometimes happens in hunts, the two lackeys are “human” then in 3 seconds they hulk out. Work them down to half HP then HULK.

Combine those two you got grand opening, grand closing. It’s like a consequence of server lag.

When I've unlocked all the 4 star mods for crafting, I'll probably dodge infestations completely. I've unlocked all the original 1-4 star mods, & I've got roughly half the ones from infestations & grudge/head hunts now, so hopefully it won't take too much longer.
