No cars on the road, no people in sight, light winds only as loud as the silence it breaks. High Pressure Sodium lights. Just comfy.

I was wondering have anyone taken it all the way to Walnut Creek wondering how doable it is. Also I made a video of my trip if anyone’s interested! https://youtu.be/ghdUSr_yPEY?is=RPERfukCPZP3PuoP
the internet can’t seem to come to a consensus on the true definition of “ebike”
i come from a background of mountain biking, so I am very familiar with the discourse on this topic and that has also framed my opinions on this
my own personal definition of an ebike is
“a bicycle integrated with an electric motor and a rechargeable battery that assists with propulsion”
the key word there is “assists”
if you have to pedal your bike in order for the motor to give you any assistance, that’s an ebike.
if you have a throttle so that you don’t have to put in any effort at all then i now consider that something else. what that is, i don’t know.
I’m curious what the redditors of this sub consider an ebike. how would you define it in your own words?
edit: didn’t expect this to get a lot of traction. thanks to everyone who replied.
to clear things up, i wanted to ask about people’s personal opinions on what they think e-bikes are because the difference in definition is why there is so much debate around it. i know what the legal definition is, i dont care about that. i want to know how people differentiate between an ebike and something else. it’s been interesting to see so far how different each person’s qualifiers are.
let’s keep the conversation going but just a gentle reminder to KEEP IT RESPECTFUL

Hi everyone, I need some help troubleshooting my Shok Nomad e-bike.
I'm having a strange issue where the bike only runs at around 7 km/h, and the pedal assist (PAS) doesn't work.
However, if I quickly turn the battery off and back on, the bike suddenly runs at normal speed and the pedal assist starts working again. The problem seems to come back, and I have to repeat the process.
Here's what I've tried so far:
Replaced the controller with an OEM controller.
Turning the battery off and back on temporarily fixes the issue.
Unfortunately, I can't find an e-bike technician near me, so I'm trying to figure out what might be causing this before replacing more parts.

I bought a Concord e-bike earlier this year back in January and the rear tire has gotten flats twice already. The second time, I assumed the hole in the tube was bigger than 3mm since slime didn't work. I got a whole new inner tube and am wondering if there are bike tires that are made of some kind of stronger material that makes it less prone to getting punctured. This bike is my only transportation and I have a job now so I really don't want to get another flat on the way to work. My ride time is close to an hour every time I go out so I'm riding it a lot.

Trying to figure out what actually matters when buying an entry-level eMTB.
I don't need anything crazy expensive, just something that can handle some trails without falling apart after a few months lol.
But I'm kinda lost when it comes to specs. Some people say a good mid-drive motor is a must, others say suspension and brakes matter way more. And then there's battery size, torque, drivetrain...
What would you say is a must-have on an entry-level eMTB? And what specs do you think beginners tend to overthink?
Would love to hear what you wish you'd known before buying your first one.

I have an ebike which is great on throttle but sadly I live too far it kills the battery until I can get my new bike I must ride pedal assist and let me tell you my ankles are dead at the end of the day and are in so much pain but I have to push through.
Anything besides insoles advil I can do to help rest my feet? I work in maintenance so my main thing is working all day with no people around. I wouldn't trade this job for anything. I love fixing stuff.

So I’m honestly hoping that it’s not an internal bearing. I took the rear wheel off and cleaned it well. Checked the cassette bearing. Checked the visible bearing on the outside of the case. I know it’s a long shot but I ordered a spoke tool maybe some creaky spokes? Wishful thinking. No loss of power. When I had the wheel off I tried and give it a good shake to listen for anything loose inside. Nothing. Just looking for some advice before I do something drastic.

Ive done a ton of research and still can't 100% decide. I'm leaning more towards the Monarc. Do any of you have some good, bad, ugly stories to share about either or?

Whats up everyone. I was hoping someone could help me with my issue with my brake pads on my ebike. I seem to have to replace my brake pads every month or so. After a fresh replacement, I usually adjust the brake levers to be medium tightness, not too hard to press and also not too spongy. As they get spongy, I adjust it at the brake caliper, as well as the tightening screws at the caliper and brake levers. Eventually it gets to the point that no matter how much I tighten it, and no matter how tight the levers are, I can't stop the bike efficiently so I have to replace the pads. Once I do that, its back to being able to stop on a dime, literally. My issue is, and you can see by the pics included, is there is plenty of brake pad left on the worn ones, and I feel like Im wasting my brake pads. I upgraded my brakes from mechanical ones, to semi hydraulic, if that matters. Any advice on how I could get better use out of my pads where I wouldn't have to replace them as often? Thanks in advance.

Hello, I just wanto to share something different. And yeah, its been a month since I switched from an electric scooter to an ebike. and so far, I am so happy with it. , I used my electric scooter for my daily commute for about 2 years. You know what, it was fun, very easy to use, and perfect for my short trips. It doen'st mean I don't like it, I still like it and have a lot of good memories riding on it. My problem was that in terms of carrying the things. If I want to have groceries or wanted to buy something much heavy, it was difficult. Even bringing home a case of beer felt like a challenge for me.. so Last month, I decide to moved to a new place and it was a good time to try an ebike. I got a Tesway X5, and it has been great for both commuting and grocery runs. The biggest difference for me is; it is very stable. In rough roads also, it doesn't bother me as much, and riding uphill is easier than it was on my scooter. Another thing I like is that; if ever the battery runs out, I can still pedal going home. even though it doesn't happened yet, but it's nice to know that I have the nice option. Now, whenever I want to have my groceries or want to pick up a case of beer, I don't have to think if I will buy or not because carrying it home is very easy.. I just ride on my bike and go. I still think electric scooters are great, especially for short city trips. But for my current lifestyle, an ebike has been a much better fit. Has anyone here also like me, else switched from a scooter to an ebike? I'd love to hear your experience.

Hello all.
Florida allows true Class 1 ebikes to go lots of places that other classes are not. I'm an active 70, 5'8" 175. The bike would be used on woods trails, fire roads and city streets.
We have and like 2 Aventon Sinch ebikes that have been used a lot when traveling. They have been great other than the weight.
What should I look at?
Thanks!

Need some recommendations on cheap e-bikes to commute on roads and packed gravel bike paths. I am going to be commuting about 50 - 60 km a day for work, so having decent range is important. I live out west, so snow isn't a problem. I want one that can go up to 45km/h on the roads to make it worth it over a road bike. Ideally, it costs less than 2000 CAD. There are some good ones I've seen in YouTube videos, but most of them don't ship to Canada. Ive seen a lot of Q20s on marketplace and I'm not sure if they are popular because their good or if everyone is selling them because they are more trouble than they're worth.

I’d like to hear from people who have one of the Goat Power Bikes (or a similar high-power bike with pedals) in southern California about whether they are having issues getting pulled over, bike confiscated etc. I’m strongly considering getting a King Goat bike for riding in San Diego county and want to know if I’d be just destined to have it impounded in the first month, even riding under 20mph and pedaling on public streets.
“Why not just get an actual 20mph, 750w class 2 e-bike and not worry about it?” I have one and it’s nice, but there are some steep dirt trails around my house that I can use as shortcuts and the class 2 doesn’t cut it on some of them.

I currently have a Concord load pro cargo bike that’s a 48v , and I absolutely love it. ive put over 800 miles on it in less than a year. It is my main form of transportation. I’m looking for a second bike maybe one that’s not so heavy and could fold so if I get picked up by a friend I could just toss it in the trunk? I bike approximately 12 miles a day. I only paid $350 for my loadpro looking to spend less than $700 . Would appreciate any recommendations thank you
