The order said to hand directly to customer. When I approached the door, her dog started barking, to which she starts yelling "Get the fuck out of here!! Go, now!!"" I yell back "I'm fine with that!" and walked back to my car with the order. She opened the door, steped out, and apologized profusely for yelling at me. She explained she forgot she ordered door dash, and that her abusive ex was stalking her and kept showing up to her door. She was also clearly very, and I mean very drunk. I confirmed the name and pin to ensure it was the correct person, and handed her the order. She couldn't stop apologizing, I kept reassuring her that it spooked me for a split second but that everything was okay. After I leave she messages me about leaving an additional tip, and said it it didn't work she'd have a tip on her front porch in cash.

I just felt bad for her.

Never had a driver say he might bail on my order. Do I get my money back? Does it get sent to another driver?

EDIT: nyc also has guaranteed $22.13 per active hour pay now so the pay can’t even be the issue in this situation, just drivers who don’t care at all.

i live in nyc in a large apartment building where the downstairs door is always open and MANY signs about food deliveries. You are supposed to simply walk through the unlocked doors and hand it to the doorman. I also have this super clearly written in my instructions as there is typically homeless people sleeping or begging for money right by the building.

Today I ordered food and wasn’t on my phone as my doorman usually rings up through the intercom when stuff arrives. I check my phone about 10 minutes after the delivery was made and to my surprise, there is a photo of my food left outside by the door. I immediately went downstairs and tried to look for it just to see a homeless man eating my food a few feet from my doorway (knew it was my food bc the place writes your name very big across the bag). I tried to contact doordash to get a refund and they told me they can’t issue a refund bc the driver attempted to contact me! The only contact ai have from the driver is him telling me he’s picked up my food and him saying thank you right after he told me he got my food.

It was $45 worth of food and I tipped the driver $18 (40%) It was also only about 1.5 miles (maybe 10 minute moped drive in the area i live in) Door dash won’t even let me adjust the tip. EDIT: tipped food and didn’t get my own food bc I have all day work meetings from home and can’t step away for too long!

I just wanted some good soup while in the hospital 😬
I can’t even get my money back. Seems DoorDash finds containers broken in the bottom completely acceptable and I should be okay drinking the contents from a plastic bag. The support team cannot provide a reason why it’s being rejected. Stuck holding this bag

Looking for advice, my daughter works as a waitress at a local restaurant. A DoorDash driver arrived to pick up an order, while my daughter and another employee got the delivery order ready, the driver is seen on surveillance picking up my daughter’s phone and pocketing it. A police report was made, door dash was notified, apparently police have to fill out a form in order for door dash to release the drivers information to police, meanwhile my daughter has been without a phone for 5 days and nothing seems to be happening from the police, or with doordash. DoorDash has been given the footage and police report, but no one seems to be trying to remedy the situation. My daughter is a broke college student, out on her own for the first time (she’s 20) and just trying to survive and find her way in life. Has anyone had any experience with DoorDash taking responsibility for their employees actions? Will they help replace her phone or is she out of luck unless police miraculously recover the phone?

There are two subways in town both of which do doordash and everytime I go to this subway it’s extremely slow while the other one thats less than .5 miles away has the order ready to go most of the time. I get thats a bit unprofessional but I hate going to this subway.

Customers in apartments are so weird . You’re so mad that someone that has never been to your house before ? Be fr ? And directions did not say his house was in the back upstairs in the corner . That alone would help me . Just because you say . Turn left then make right building right side . Doesn’t mean anything . That’s still not your door nor does that actually direct me to your door . My gps does it. It’s rare my gps doesn’t take me to your house I have 2 maps Tesla and door dash …. What I would have preferred hey building is (whatever ) my door is the last one on the left hand side up stairs on the 2nd to last stairwell on your left . Instead of msg (not clear enough and rambling on just tell me where to go ) so now you sent a msg that helps neither one of us out and your hungry and I’m just gonna report you anyway and block because apartments already bad don’t need customers that can’t communicate .

What’s the deal with people online having such negative things to say about doordash drivers? Saying it’s not a real job, that we should just deliver the food and not complain about tips, and that broke people work for DoorDash? None of these arguments make sense and I don’t understand why they started. DoorDash is an honest job and side hustle for most and sometimes it pays better than hourly wages. And we have every right to complain about tips because we rely on them, DoorDash isnt a free courier service. who genuinely agrees with those takes about drivers?

I just double dashed a charger, some noodles, and water from one store and a crunch wrap and an empanada from another. I did one bulk tip but it spilt it between 2 drivers. How does that tip split?? I don't have the money to tip extra or I absolutely would but I didn't know they'd split the order. Normally I get the same driver.
