Art Amabilia, art by me

COMMISSION. Canoness Preceptor Amabilia, Virtue of Prudence and the youngest Canoness Preceptor of the Order of Kindled Abhorrence.

Amabilia bears the Servo Skull of Sister Aemilia, an auspex-laden skull that once belonged to the closest companion of the founding Saint of the Order. Amabilia, even without the skull, is a particularly keen mathematician, able to calculate firing solutions on a level that approaches the Magi of the Mechanicus.

Hello.

I haven't been keeping up with try hobby at all.

I made a start when I was in uni and after I left my uni house I gave up.

I've now been asked for what I want for Christmas and I think it might be a good chance to get back into it.

What sets would people recommend?

Maybe another starter set or a small build?

I like 4000 and Age of Sigmar stuff but am open to anything

I have attached some pictures of my previous small pieces just so you can see what sort of stuff I was doing before

Thank you 🥰

Hobby Shokkjump Dragsta: Il Tempo Gigante | C&C wanted

Just finished a Shokkjump Dragsta, my first vehicle and largest mini I have painted so far. For any Scandinavians out there the car's colour scheme is heavily inspired by Il Tempo Gigante from the Flaklypa series, as well as an attempt to get the orks looking similar-ish to the characters. I'm really trying to improve with my painting so any C&C is welcome, I would love feedback. I attempted some osl aswell for the first time so any advice on that would be really nice 😁

Discussion Does anyone else feel a little guilty at painting something "good enough"?

Over the course of this year, I've pushed myself to paint well, but not to get bogged down in detail too much. I feel the urge towards perfectionism, but also lack the focus, patience and discipline to actually do it. I completed the first 2000 points army I've had since I was a kid but I'm keenly aware I could have done better, but likely wouldn't be halfway there by now.

Basically I'm just asking how folk feel about the spectrum between "blocked colours in" and "absolute best I can do".

Discussion Question regarding a home game of 40K using ONLY the Armageddon Box set

• Upvotes

Hello all, need some help. I have recently taken the plunge and gotten deep into 40K. I’ve built up a nice pile of gray shame (or golden opportunity, depending on how you look at it) by now and want to play a small home game with a buddy, who is also just now getting into it. We both come from Magic and DnD, and I’ve been watching a ton of content, so I’ve got a very basic grasp of the game by now.

I own the Armageddon box set, my first purchase, and am about to complete their assembly and begin painting. But before I get to building more models (I’ve got more blood angels and orks) I would love to just play a starter game using only the Armageddon set. This is the fastest way we’ll be able to start playing, and I know it’ll get my buddy much deeper into the hobby than just starting out.

So as I was building the respective 750 point “armies” in the Warhammer app, I ran into an error on the Orks side. You’ve probably heard this before by now, too many character Orks and not enough units to attach them to. I did some digging, and found basically two options to play using only the Armageddon box.

Option 1: combat patrol from the box. We could do this, easy peasy and I understand how this could be done.

Option 2: use the whole Armageddon box for a relatively balanced HOME game.

My question is: how can I handle the Orks side of things for option 2? I would love to use the entire box for a bigger and thematic game. Down the road, I’ll just add more Ork units and this issue will resolve itself. But we’re busy, working gentlemen, and that will take time. I want to play asap!!

So, do I just leave two “support” units unattached? I know that’s against official rules, but would that screw anything up in a home game? Does anyone have recommendations on how to approach this, and which units to attach or un attach? I’ve got the basic rules down, but is this going to break any gameplay or anything like that? What would you do in my situation as a 40K veteran?

Thanks all, any recommendations are appreciated. Super happy to be here, loving the hobby, lore, community, etc. Can’t wait to play my first game! Even if we have to bend the rules for the Boyz a little.
