Megathread Career Questions & Portfolio Reviews - Monthly Megathread

Welcome to the monthly thread for career questions and portfolio reviews across UI, UX, and Product Design. This space is open to designers at any level.

Careers & Getting Started

Use this space to ask about and discuss anything related to entering or growing in the industry. Example topics: switching careers into UI/UX/Product, course or degree recommendations, job roles and employment questions, early-career advice, and industry topics like AR/VR, game UI, and coding.

Before posting, check the UI Design wiki and use the subreddit search — many questions have been asked before.

Portfolio Review

Share your portfolio for constructive feedback. Include a link to your full portfolio, not individual Dribbble or Instagram posts. Be open to critique.

When giving feedback, be constructive, base it on industry best practices, and offer clear suggestions for improvement.

For both:

  • No self-promotion, "hire me" posts, job posts, or surveys
  • No agencies or businesses
  • Downvoting is not a discussion tool — respectful conversation only

Megathread AI Designs - Monthly Megathread

Welcome to the monthly thread for fully AI-generated designs. If your design was produced primarily by AI with no significant designer input or customisation, this is where it belongs.

Posting guidelines

  • Include [AI] in your comment and note which tool(s) you used
  • Briefly explain what you were trying to achieve or explore
  • Be open to critique and feedback

When giving feedback

  • Be constructive and specific
  • Downvoting is not a discussion tool — respectful conversation only

Note

If your design involved meaningful designer input alongside AI tools, it may be eligible for the main feed. It must include [AI] in the post title, the [AI] flair, and process context explaining what you designed, what decisions you made, and what feedback you are looking for. Posts without this will be removed.

Feedback Request Footer Design! Looking for Feedback.

Post image
350 Upvotes

Hey Everyone,

I'm learning to design right now. I am 14 and primarily and don't really enjoy using Framer or Figma, so I just code everything.

I designed this footer in ~5 minutes for a practice project, looking for feedback!

Let's Discuss Where are you prototyping?

It feels like not two minutes go by without a new tool for prototyping appearing on the scene

I'm a Head of Design for a fairly well known technology firm and I've loved seeing my team explore these new tools. It's certainly changing the game. Honestly though, I'm couldn't guess where the market is heading.

General curiosity... What's your design tool stack and how are you sharing your ideas?

General Question "A question that's been on my mind: does Dribbble prioritize visual aesthetics over practical UI/UX design?"

Dribbble UI designs focus heavily on visual aesthetics, flashy graphics, and polished concepts rather than real-world usability or practical UX depth or Functionality . this is how i feel evrn the comments are about how good it looks rather than its Functionality. What do you guys think ?

General Help Request Any there any good corporate websites?

I feel completely stuck and need more inspiration. Please help, I need to see some good recommendations of corporate/big company websites.. They can be fun, bold, colorful but also more serious.

I'm completely stuck with my project. Have you seen anything interesting lately?

Feedback Request Hello everyone! I did a project like this yesterday. This is a website for homemade products (handmade) marshmallow flowers. I chose delicate bed colors to emphasize the tenderness of the marshmallow itself, as well as the beauty of the flowers! I look forward to your informed criticism! Thank you!

I implemented this project at Framer, but I won't drop a link on it so as not to break the rules. If moderation allows it, then I'll chip in for a new assessment! Also, by the way, I realized my basket, not taking the existing one. You can receive messages via email via Formspark or Web3Forms (optional)

Gaming/Apps I made a (nuclear red for no particular reason) UI concept for a vertically written chatting app

Post image
26 Upvotes

So you know the internet was made for horizontal writing? What if someone instead designed an app for vertical writing systems? I'm thinking Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Mongolian bichig. Well, here it is! You read the conversation right to left, with newer messages being to the right of older ones. All text is vertical!

Lemme know whaddya think!

Feedback Request Samsung type taskbar

Post image
8 Upvotes

I lowkey just came up with this idea one day because i thought it was cool
The way it would work is that you've got your apps menu, which might open somewhat like a start menu on windows 11, then your pinned apps in the pill, and the open-but-not-pinned apps in a box that appears beside it, and dissapears if there are no open-but-not-pinned apps open. the blue bars below signify what's open, as well as the app's icon floating upwards, and the bar will widen and move the icon a bit more up when the/a tab is open

AI Feedback Request I designed an iOS app to look like a British charity shop jumble table. Does it work, or is it just clutter?

Post image
26 Upvotes

Solo designer and developer here. Kipple gives you a photo prompt (“something somewhere it shouldn’t be”), and whatever you find becomes a sticker you can collect and swap.

I wanted it to feel like rummaging through a charity shop rather than using an app, so it has Dymo labels, price tags, masking tape and paper textures, plus a pigeon in a hi-vis vest called Dave who runs the place.

What I’d like feedback on:

  • Does the texture help the experience or get in the way?
  • Is the hierarchy clear enough with this much going on?
  • Does the Stash read as a collection at a glance?

AI Feedback Request [AI] Made this bouncing beach ball with Gemini 3.8 Flash (pure SVG, no After Effects). How does the physics look?

Hey everyone!

I was messing around with Gemini 3.8 Flash to see if I could skip the usual After Effects + Lottie workflow for vector motion.

It generated this entire beach scene in pure Animated SVG code—squash & stretch, bounce physics, and clean shapes that drop right into Figma with zero issues.

I’d love your honest feedback: does the bounce timing feel natural to you, or would you tweak the easing?

(Let me know if you want the raw SVG code and I’ll drop it in the comments!)

Feedback Request Furniture rental homepage redesign — from generic template to product-led. What would you change?

Thumbnail

Before/after of a homepage redesign for a furniture rental service (rent monthly, buy out later).

What we changed and why:

  1. Hero — the old one was a soft photo with a small headline and a tiny CTA. The new one leads with the actual offer ("you can buy-out"), a big CTA, and real products with monthly prices right on the first screen, so visitors see what it costs without clicking.

  2. How It Works — three equal grey boxes nobody reads → a dark section with the key step (subscription term) highlighted, since that's the part people are unsure about.

  3. Categories — 4 small items in a row → a 6-item grid with larger product shots, plus a new "Shop & Rent by Room" section for people who think in rooms, not product types.

  4. Overall — bigger type, one accent colour (yellow) used only for actions, more white space.

Things I'm still not sure about:

- Is the dark How It Works block too heavy in the middle of a light page?

- Does showing prices in the hero feel helpful or too salesy for a rental brand?

Would love honest feedback.

Microinteraction Video onboarding in Swiggy Food Delivery App

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Swiggy could’ve explained this with some onboarding tutorial. Instead they animated the whole idea.

Do you think onboarding videos like this actually helps people understand a new feature, or does it mostly just make the demo look good?

Feedback Request Built a study app for my uni friends, but I’ve stared at it so long I can’t tell if it’s good anymore

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

TL;DR: made a study app, went design-blind, need honest feedback from people who’ve never seen it.

hey reddit 👋

first time posting, so bear with me.

I’m a student (CS) and basically live in study apps. problem is, none of them ever had the features I wanted and didn’t feel clunky to use. So a few months ago I thought let's make my own and started building, mainly for me and my classmates.

fast forward to now: I’ve looked at these screens so many times that I genuinely can’t tell anymore if the design is good or if I’m just used to it lol

so I’d really appreciate some fresh eyes. what’s your first impression? anything confusing, ugly, or weird?

don’t hold back, roast it if you have to. that’s what I’m here for 🙏

just a short screenrecording for now, can share more if people are interested.

Feedback Request Do you see improvement in the UI redesign?

Thumbnail

You will have to click into the images to view the previews, as these images are wide.

I think I’m starting to get a better sense of good UI design after working on this. There are subtle things I didn’t understand which I feel I have a handle on now.

Corners can feel curated

My previous design didn’t have any rounded corners, and all of my videos and images were just plopped on the page. Now I have added rounded edges to videos and images, as well as a small border, that make the assets feel curated and have intentionality with them being placed there.

Color brings feelings
My previous design was a lot of blacks and whites; having a subtle cream color evokes emotions that black and white do not create. The color can be anything, but I feel it helps set the undertone for the entire page.

Shadows on header text

This one I didn’t think of before- adding small shadows to header text gives the text a very almost unnoticeable space to the page that calls your attention to it. I never considered shadows but I’m happy I have them now.

Images can define the space

The images I have now on the header and footer, to me, make me feel like it’s more than just an informational webpage, but is part of a shared experience to people who view it. Image selection, and also placement can elevate and make a good design, even better.

Interact-able elements feel polished

I had a FAQ that was raw text, and while that worked, making it collapsible feels like thought was put into it and presentation wise I like it a lot better.

Are there other design tips you can impart to me, or do you think my design improved from my last version?

General Help Request Content for website

How do you usually build content for websites? Do you direct the workflow or would you request it from the customers? I feel like most of the pretty websites have very minimal content and short taglines, while being very effective. Curious if there's a workflow.

Let's Discuss Will there be another big shift in how interfaces look, or will everything keep looking the same?

I'm a designer, and lately I keep noticing how alike most interfaces look. Even Apple's Liquid Glass redesign in 2025, the biggest visual change in years, mostly stayed inside Apple's own apps, and the rest of the web looks about the same as before.

AI tools can make a clean UI in minutes, and a lot of it looks the same: the same gradients, the same cards, the same spacing. You can often tell an app was generated before you've even used it.

So I wonder if we'll get another real shift in how interfaces look, maybe from new hardware, or voice and agents replacing screens, or a new design language from a big company. Or will AI-built design settle into one default look, so that what makes a product feel different is something else?

How do you see it? And if you design for a living, what do you do to keep your work from feeling generic?

Any up and coming ones? I'd love to see what people are using.

AI Feedback Request [AI] Dark hero, light clinical sections: does this medical website concept feel consistent?

I'm looking for UI feedback on an independent website redesign concept for Ventec Life Systems and its VOCSN product. The intended audience is people evaluating the device, including clinicians and care providers.

The design goal is to make a technical product easier to understand: a large product introduction, an overview, therapy information, clinical details, a patient story and contact options. I chose dark sections for the introduction and therapies, with lighter sections for the denser information.

The full-page PNG is attached. I'd especially appreciate feedback on the transition between those sections. Does the visual rhythm feel consistent, and are the clinical tables readable enough? What would you change first in the information hierarchy?

This is a concept using Ventec's brand and product imagery. AI helped draft the wording of this feedback request. I'm sharing the exported design for critique rather than announcing a Ventec website launch.

Feedback Request What should I change about this?

Post image
0 Upvotes

So I want to overhaul this design when I'm done with all the logic. My Goal is to get a designer because I'm looking for 3d design. I want a 3d neumorphic futurism aesthetic. So i want a 3 -d color streaked nav, and some way to make these cards stand out a bit more. If you know where i can find free components or how to AI them let me know. Also How should i style the glass pane, it's a feature called seamless view where the user can select any media(It will be highlighted) using the directional pads and it will populate in this pane. I just don't know what to do with the pane. I'm open to collaborations as well if anyone want's to team up

Feedback Request Go all in on our design language or use iOS design language?

Thumbnail
gallery
9 Upvotes

Our family planner app is targeted towards families that have kids around 2-12 years old, and we went with a playful design language. Now that Apple is rumored to release a Home Hub that only let 2rd party apps show the widgets, we started discussing what direction to go.

So to my question, should we stick to our design language everywhere or should we make them blend in more to Apple's design language so it looks better on the user's iPhone?

It doesn't look that great on the first picture where the first one is Apple's widget and then our two widgets in the same view (second image is just to get a feel for our design on the website).

The app is made to be used in fullscreen on a tablet and then parents mostly use the iphone app for todolists, calendar feature etc. Overall UI feedback on the widgets are more than welcome too! 😄

Microinteraction Feels like an actual page flip 📃

They sort of flip over like a sheet of paper and reveal the next one underneath.

Def better than just being another carousel of gallery images.

Probably something most people won’t consciously notice, but it does feel nicer.

AI Feedback Request Claude Design is awful, so where is AI actually supposed help my design quality/workflow/output?

I’ve tried everything from setting up Figma agents, Claude design, skills, connecting full design system betweens Figma and Claude, I’ve uploaded full polished/approved webpage mockups fig files into Claude to generate extra pages…. But everything still comes out looking chopped and lacking consistency between pages, sections and components. As the lead designer at my agency and the one who has to champion the work when presenting to clients, nothing it’s generated so far has been useable, I’ve had to recreate everything myself in Figma. Also have to mention, editing in Claude Design has to be a marketing stunt. It is AWFUL and tedious.

I feel like if you’re a proficient designer, AI just hinders the process, quality and the output. So how are real designers who are doing real work for clients actually getting benefits out of using AI?

I’ve experimented with it creating handover documentation for developers and that’s not bad, but it still just creates junk and elements that weren’t part of the website designs at any point
