General Help Request Content for website

How do you usually build content for websites? Do you direct the workflow or would you request it from the customers? I feel like most of the pretty websites have very minimal content and short taglines, while being very effective. Curious if there's a workflow.

There is no workflow blueprint. Good content is almost always rooted in a clear brand strategy and a solid branding process. That’s what actually determines the tone, the messaging, and how a brand connects with its target audience. Design is supposed to elevate the content, not compensate for a lack of it. If you don't know who you're talking to or what your brand stands for before you start building, no amount of design is going to help.

I wanna learn the process from 0 to 1. Do you have any recommendations? Like articles or courses?

Write the sentences before the layout. One sentence per section saying what the visitor should understand after reading that section, in plain words. Send the list to the client and let them argue with the sentences on their own, away from any design.

The short copy on those pretty sites comes from that step. A section with one job only has one thing to say, so the headline comes out short without anyone trying to be clever.

For learning the process, open a few pages you admire and count how many separate ideas each screen is carrying. Usually one.
