Lore (Mixed trope) ridiculous plot/story

Cripple wolf- a crippled Vietnam veteran who is unaware he's a werewolf goes on a massive passenger plane dedicated to fetishes. He accidentally turns into a feral werewolf that slaughters hundreds of people and fights a superhero with the punching force of a panzer lll and turns multiple people including a baby into werewolf's, he runs people over and other shenanigans. It's a hilarious short story that's worth checking out.

Ass goblins of Auschwitz- ass goblins invade kidland a relatively peaceful planet full of kids. The MCs are conjoined twins who along with other kids are turned into slaves to make food, bicycles, cider and alot more out of dead kids. The conjoined twins are experimented on to become more monstrous in appearance. IMO this book sucks but has a bat shit insane story with the ass goblins wanting to gain childhood since they're all born adults and are jealous of the kids innocents and happiness.

I mean can't mention this without including the GOAT Chuck Tingle

u/AsstacularSpiderman 1h ago

Chuck Tingle is a man of culture

u/DrNomblecronch 1h ago edited 1h ago

For anyone who has only looked at the covers of Tinglers; they are fantastically written short stories that lay out their absolutely bonkers internal logic very smoothly and then play enjoyably in that space for a while.

Chuck Tingle is out here as the vanguard of the idea that whimsical and goofy is not definitionally any worse than serious. This is a classic way of buds, and one I enjoy.

(My favorite is Eaten Out At Mermoped Cove. Right off the bat, it explains that a mermoped is half fish, half moped. Then, for the rest of the book, it gives its main mermoped character consistent and recognizable body language. It's barely two pages in before you start going "oh, yeah, obviously that's how a mermoped would do that". And it never blinks. Never gives any indication that there is anything strange about this premise. It's fantastic and you should pay this man $3 for it.)

This deserves to be here I reckon

This is the first time I'm realizing that these are actual short stories I can read and aren't just images made for the meme

Honestly, turning frustration into a book people can actually support is such a satisfying response I love when creativity gets the last word!

So you're telling me he might be the greatest surrealist author of our time?

3

u/DrNomblecronch 6m ago

I don't actually think 'surrealist' is the right word here, because every book's set of buckwild rules for how the world works are entirely internally consistent. If you agree to accept the initial premise, you are reading a straightforward romance and/or smut story set in a world where everything behaves like you'd expect it to.

So I'd say it's like... negative space in the shape of surrealism, maybe. What his books do is make completely batshit ideas make perfect sense. I cannot emphasize enough that if you accept that a mermoped exists to begin with, the aforementioned story is about a brief and very mutually satisfactory fling between two people who have enormous chemistry immediately. And one's a mermoped.

They're part of the canon of Discordian literature, for sure.

I see people call Chuck Tingle a Quan Millz ripoff, and while that makes me a little angry, I know that’s not what Tingle would want, so instead I just hope these buckaroos find their way

5

u/TheSpaceBornMars 46m ago

they're making Velocipastor 2

13

Unfortunately it falls into that realm where they hope the premise carries the whole thing but they don't actually give any worthwhile performance to make it entertaining B-horror.

Grunts, by Mary Gentle, which has the distinction of being the best worst book I have ever read.

The Dark Lord's army of orcs is defeated, and they scatter. One clan finds a dragon's hoard; this dragon was a planeswalker with a love of military history. They pick up some weapons. The weapons are enchanted/cursed. The orc tribe immediately begins to act like stereotypical Hollywood marines. With their new tech and organization, they begin to turn the tide on the war with-

-wait, no, the war's at a stalemate. They're inventing soccer now-

-okay, it's a romance novel? Between the orc sergeant and a cannibalistic halfling milf? I suppose that's-

-they're doing war crimes now. Just really aggressive war crimes-

-the Dark Lord has proposed the Last War between light and dark be settled via democratic election-

-the Dark Lord's campaign is in peril because the Lady of Light found out about the war crimes-

-they're on trial for the war crimes and the outcome of that will determine the election instead-

-insectoid alien invaders are here! Light and Dark must join forces to-

-there's a human marine from Earth now, real protagonist energy-

-oh, he's dead, the aliens got him-

-the aliens work for the dragon-

Etc, etc.

When I say "best worst book", what I mean is that it is the work of an extremely skilled author deliberately and gleefully writing the worst book possible. The technical execution of its awfulness is perfect. It constantly one-ups itself in horrible, disgusting, trite, and almost boring enough to quit reading, before the plot abruptly changes and now you gotta see where this bullshit is going.

If I ever meet Mary Gentle, I will shake her hand and tell her I enjoyed her book very much, and would rather take my own teeth out with pliers than ever read it again.

edit: the worst worst book I have ever read, for reference, is a tie between the novelizations of Baldur's Gate 1 & 2, and if I say what I will do if I meet that author I will get in trouble.

edit 2: there is a line in Grunts that, in isolation, is probably one of the most disgusting and offensive things I can imagine expressing in language.

By the time it arrives in the book, you're either fully on board with reading a Very Bad Book or you've stopped already. So when that line hits you almost want to cheer: you did not think the scene it is in could possibly get any worse, but Grunts never fails to find lower pits to sink into.

Mary Gentle, in the acknowledgements, joyfully credits her husband for the line.

6

u/Pandapeep 1h ago

I adore this book. It's trash, but I loved how trash it was.

3

u/DrNomblecronch 59m ago

Exactly! Right at the start you're still going "is it... is it really this bad? The whole way through? Seriously? How did this get published?"

And then it somehow makes the Orc Marine premise it advertises itself as being about as stupid and annoying as possible almost instantly, and it's like watching a beautiful sunrise as it clicks; it's worse. It's so very magnificently worse.

6

u/Kilroy0497 1h ago

Honestly I just remember finding this book kind of hilarious throughout with just how ridiculous both the army itself acts, as well as just how more and more ludicrous the situations become.

4

u/Washinton13 1h ago

Okay but Orc and Halfling milf live happily ever after?

4

u/TrioOfTerrors 56m ago

A tribe of Aztecs living in a remote valley in Mexico in the 16th century worship and make homage to a pair of living Tyrannosaurus rex (Aztec Rex)

7

u/Raulgoldstein 1h ago

If I remember right there’s a priest, a conquistador, and a beautiful Aztec woman. They’re hiding from the T. rex in a big tree when the conquistador and the woman start talking about their feelings. The conquistador asks the priest to officiate their marriage so they can go bang in another part of the tree, all the while the T. rex is looking for an opening. Sorry there’s no punchline, that’s just what happens in the movie lol

u/Tasty-Complaint-6437 55m ago

Begin Log]
The officer approaches the vehicle, knocking on the window. The SCP-9787 instances lower the driverside window. The interior of the car is covered in SCP-9787 instances.
Buzzing.
Officer: Good evening to you too. Do you know how fast you were going?
Buzzing. The SCP-9787 instances inside the vehicle begin flying in circles around the driver's seat.
Officer: Regardless, you were exceeding the speed limit.
Anxious buzzing. The officer adjusts his bodycam.
Officer: License and registration, please.
Dejected buzzing. Several SCP-9787 instances slowly open the glovebox and hand the officer a driver's license and several papers including their registration and insurance.
The officer hands the papers back.
Officer: Right. You weren't going too fast and there aren't many people on the road this late, so I'll issue a warning. Please watch your speed on the road in the future.
Apologetic buzzing. The window begins to roll up. The officer writes in a notepad before taking two steps back.
Officer: Wait a fucking second.
The window stops rising. The officer rubs his eyes.
Officer: Sir, could you step out of the vehicle for me, please? Muttered: It's not that late. What the hell?
The door opens. The officer takes three steps back.
Officer: Jesus Christ!
Inquisitive buzzing.
Officer: No, you're not in trouble. Just… Uh, good night. Drive… safe?
Affirmative buzzing. The door slams and the Honda Civic drives away.
Officer: What the fuck?
The bodycam turns off.

The Man Who Killed Hitler and Then the Bigfoot, 2018. Stars Sam Eliot, who plays the entire film completely seriously, as a man who secretly killed Hitler. 4

u/Tasty-Complaint-6437 18m ago

The whole genre of splatter punk, if it isnt just a regular slasher with sexual violence you will get stuff like:

Love in the time of dinosaurs (the protagonist is not a dinosaur btw, the love interest is)

My heart is a chainsaw (still a love story)

Abortion Arcade ( an ontology, the bizarre horror is amazing in this one)

Clown hunt (one of the ones who show the most the punk part of the genre)

And urethra ballerina (another live story)

Its important to say that you will find most if this types of stories in the splatter punk genre than in the normal extreme horror, that is filles a lot more with killing games and regular slashers

4

u/zumba_fitness_ 17m ago

Now this one requires a bit of context to anyone who is completely foreign to the Warhammer 40,000 universe but for everyone:

This entire book is a TEN THOUSAND YEAR LONG squabble between two old robot men OVER A MACGUFFIN and in the end NOBODY LEARNS A GODAMN THING

Both are so incredibly fucking petty and spiteful to the point of absurd hilarity. At one point one of them shows up and shoots the other in the fucking face with a sniper rifle and the other claims he doesn't even HAVE the Macguffin

"You can keep it."

The 100 Girlfriends Who Really, Really, Really, Really, REALLY Love You

Calling itself "The romcom with zero losing heroines", the series is a parody of harem manga/anime in which the main character Rentarou Aijou learns he is blessed to have 100 soulmates upon entering high school. Eventually you start to realize that the creators are truly committed to the bit. The image used here shows up to the 21st girlfriend, the anime's last season ended at 17, and this week the manga will introduce the 38th girl to join the Rentarou Family.

A story about a Japanese man who dies and is transported into a generic fantasy world. Normally in a story like this they get super powers and have a jolly romp and get to do all kinds of things they wish they could have done in Japan.

However in this case he shows up on the shore of a lake as a modern and a high spec vending machine in middle of the wilderness. A mostly inanimate vending machine.

Normally you’d think a story like this would go nowhere but surprisingly the author kinda makes it work. He powers up by people buying his products and has the ability to change his wares and even type of vending machine he is. With his encyclopedic knowledge of Japanese vending machine history he actually does pretty well for himself.

And yes even gets a little romance…somehow.

Slam Frank  is a 2025  off-Broadway   satirical  hip-hop  musical  loosely based on the story of  Anne Frank . It was created by Andrew Fox and Joel Sinensky after a  Twitter  thread about Anne Frank's "white privilege" went viral in 2022. The show is a  show within a show  of an ultra-progressive theatre troupe that reimagines Frank as a pansexual Latina named Anita Franco, along with  Peter van Daan  as a  non-binary  dancer. While the show itself is purportedly satirical, its viral  social media  promotion, with snippets of the show and  tongue-in-cheek  commentary, never acknowledges the satire. Feels like a script the Producers would have written if they couldn’t find Springtime for Hitler.

Horse destroys the universe by cyriak Harris... Is exactly what it says on the tin. A book about a horse. And the horse, at some point, will destroy the universe.

If you enjoy this guy's animations, and you enjoy reading, you will most likely enjoy this book.

Angeline Era- Still figuring out the whole story, but it has roaming around, dream farming, surprising amount of references to the Bible, unexplained lore that’s casually mentioned in passing, final fantasy 7 graphics, and just a lot of implications evil spreading, and a protagonist that loves to strike things they run into, and one of the most terrify difficulty selections I have seen in any game.

Sorry To Bother You.

If you go into this movie purely based on the advertising, you would have no fucking idea what you're getting into.

All the trailers market this as a stylistic comedy about a black man using his comedically ADR'ed "white man voice" to go up the ranks at the telemarketing company he works at.

You will be throughly unprepared forthe sudden and wild genre switch halfway through in which it's revealed that the company the lead is working for is using tainted cocaine to turn people into half-horse hybrid creatures so they can be used as a new obedient slave race for corporations.

Dorohedoro

In this manga/anime there's Kaiman, a guy with Lizard head and amnesia trying to find out who is the other guy inside him as he believes he was the one who transformed him into a lizard head guy.

To find out Kaiman and his friend Nikaido have to go to war against sorcerers, people who produce black smoke that's equal to magic and their boss is a guy who can create mushrooms with his magic and can turn people into them. He pretty much runs the entire sorcerer world.

There's algo demons, lizard monsters, a girl thay geys beat up every second, there's like 5 people inside Kaiman, there are also 2 whole worlds, the normal one and the sorcerer one.

Good luck trying to keep up, because somehow everyone is connected to everyone in someway.
