Merch About the NPTN Apparel Collab

Can somebody please drop in the password on the 18th, Because I've seen it happen. It's even on their instagram, people have been mentioning, they're not always getting the password to even go and buy the merch?

It's not like they don't get money. In fact, i'm trying to get them more money. I really want to buy something and getting anything on the aftermarket is tough.

How is it that Aang and Katara have a non bender child, then Tenzin has 3 (maybe 4) all airbenders?

My punnett squares aren’t punnetting.

Discussion ATLA and TLOK saved me

I genuinely just wanted to share this since i’ve been feeling so emotional and this might be a long post too. I started watching ATLA for the first time in the middle of this year. I had heard so much about it growing up but I just didn’t feel the strong desire or urge to watch it and kept putting it off as another thing on my list that I’ll eventually get around to watching. This year has been the most heaviest and difficult year I’ve experienced and there were so many times I wanted to give up and questioned if there was any point in moving forward since I felt so alone and lost and was starting to lose hope in everything. I was so depressed and falling behind in college too, but then I overheard two girls in my class talk about ATLA and started to see some stuff about it on my socials and I thought to myself maybe i should watch it considering everyone saying how it’s so good and life changing and I felt like i needed something like that in my life. It was probably a last resort hope for me, but once I started watching ATLA i immediately got the hype for it and then when I finally finished it I was just so awestruck and amazed by how such a magnificent show existed and I had been missing out this whole time. It truly did exceed all my expectations. I was glad I caught up just in time before the movie which i even got the chance to see in theaters too, and it made me so emotional just seeing all these beloved characters grow up into such amazing adults and continue on with their lives despite all the tragedies and suffering they faced.

Whenever I feel down I still think about this even now and turn back to ATLA whether it’s rewatching some eps or clips or even checking edits around it because it just reminds me how i’m not alone and all the feelings I felt when I was watching it. Zuko’s character especially became an all time favorite for me like I knew everyone loved him but I genuinely get the hype now and I even see so so much of myself in him especially given how I’ve been feeling and went through this year. It amazes me so much seeing a character reflect me so much and get one of the best glow ups and redemption arcs in fiction, like in some odd ways it gives me some hope for myself lol that someone like him grew from feeling so unwanted and worthless and not feeling like they could amount to anything great, to becoming one of the most beloved characters of all time and that legacy still has an affect on people even after so many years. I know his character and arc will continue to stay with and shape me as I move forward or at least try to. Toph probably comes as a close second for me as her journey with navigating freedom after feeling trapped for so long, and discovering a whole new bending when being trapped in the darkest times still amazes me. Plus she’s so cool and so talented too but I also loved her vulnerable moments and serious talks in both shows.

Even seeing the other members of the gang, and each of them having their own unique traits and strengths it really gave me some inspiration and hope and helped me to see different perspectives and sufferings too. Sooka’s jokes and willingness to lead and take charge despite not feeling prepared or the best fit for it and his centered ep in s3 being one of my top favs too. Katara with her kindness, empathy, and wanting to fight and help those in need. Aang with staying true and holding onto to his inner spirit and values despite being the last one, and not losing sight of the good despite all the pain and trauma he went through and not letting his demons fully win and take over him. I’ve always loved the found family trope but I love it so even more especially with the gang and how far they’ve come together and grown through all the ups and downs both individually and together.

Also Iroh being the goat and his words of wisdom and advice really stuck with me and I find myself constantly thinking of his speeches especially regarding hope and it really clicks into my head and often helps me to snap out of it and see a brighter side to things. Growing up I’ve never had a close adult figure in my life that I could turn to or felt comfortable enough to confide in my problems or receive advice from, but Iroh really feels like the family I’ve always wanted and am missing. It’s really bittersweet knowing I won’t have someone like that irl but it helps knowing his character will always be there and his words will stay with me and I can always turn to them and repeat them whenever I need them.

Now with TLOK, I know there’s so much controversy and hate around it especially regarding Korra and the overall writing and change in the show compared to ATLA. I can understand some of it but I don’t necessarily agree with it and I know most of the hate towards Korra is very deep rooted in misogyny. Although it doesn’t come close to or necessarily top ATLA for me, TLOK has it’s shown individuality, sadness, and warmth that made it stand out to me. Korras journey and battles were definitely difficult to watch but seeing her fight so hard and become stronger really blew me away. At the same time it carried so much meaning for me as I was watching most of TLOK when i was going through a bad depressive episode just a couple weeks ago and it was the one thing that really got me through it and had me looking forward to something and convincing me to get through at least another day. Korras ptsd arc especially had me feeling so emotional as it hit way too close to home and even now it still does. TLOK really depicted mental health and ptsd in a way I had never seen before in a show, and I was genuinely both amazed and heartbroken by it all, seeing how they portrayed the struggles and also of the negative fans who tried to bring her down too like sadly it’s all very realistic as people irl and even from my own experiences fail to grasp the weight of mental health and the effects it has on a person and how it can linger on even after events have finished occurring.

I started Seven Havens despite finding it difficult to move forward to a new era so quickly, but so far based on the first 3 eps I believe it’ll have its own unique charm despite what others may believe or what I’ve read regarding the reviews thus far. I’m already enjoying the new concepts and Pavi’s character is starting to hit close to me too so I’m excited to see more of this new journey and beginning. I just hope at least this show will bring justice to Korra’s name too as it’s already hurting me to see slander for my girl without knowing the full story. On a brighter note I’m also loving the south asian representation as been a south asian girl myself.

Overall both ATLA and TLOK truly saved me this year and although things aren’t quite ideal for me just yet and I’ve still been battling with myself and all the negative dark thoughts that come into my head like even recently before writing this post too. This franchise gives me some more hope, joy, and excitement in this cruel world while also inspiring and making me believe in justice and that maybe better things will be ahead of us. I’m excited to see what’s in store ahead for all of us and I definitely see myself returning to these series and characters again. It genuinely feels like a part of me has come home again and I want to keep holding on and cherishing those feelings. I still do regret at times not tuning in sooner, but I think both series found me at the perfect and destined times it needed to and I feel very lucky to experience all 3 series at once. Here’s to hoping for a better future and along with more content for us lol.

PS the soundtracks especially the ending songs of each show including Seven Havens rn currently hit so hard for me. I love the contrast and unique feeling to them all

Discussion The Legend of the "Sub-Avatar" [Concept]

This is simply an idea I wanted to share. The idea is for an avatar who only controls the sub-masteries of the elements.

That is, metal, lightning, lava, and ice, being unable to control the four natural elements but possessing these sub-masteries.

I also had a vague concept of something called "Lightning Kai," a more dangerous version of Agni Kai where lightning masters (firebenders who have mastered the lightning technique) are used.

And well, the sub-avatar was conceived as an underground fighter, treated as simply a killing machine. She doesn't speak, she doesn't question, and even if her chains were removed, she wouldn't run away, mainly because she feels she has nowhere to return to, or that she sees herself as something that should never have existed.

If you're wondering about her origin... well, theoretically, I thought she would originate when the spirit world and the mortal world connected (that is, the first time the spirit world invaded the mortal world in Korra), and the idea would be that instead of simply giving her... This girl, who possessed control over the four elements, experienced something "different."

A clandestine group was attempting to "create their own avatar" without success. However, when the spirit world began infiltrating the mortal world, this spiritual influence affected the experiment, causing the girl to connect with the spirits of masters of the elemental sub-arts.

A metalbender who had died during her initial training with Toph and was always ashamed of herself; an icebender who gave everything, even his life, for those he loved; Ghazan's father, a ruthless yet strategic and Machiavellian lavabender; and finally, a firebender who suffered an "anomaly" because her flames were so intense they burned her alive, forcing her to use lightning techniques since her fire power was so strong it slowly destroyed her.

This sub-avatar is not linked to any entity like Rava a Vatu, but rather to four mortal souls who are masters of these sub-arts.

Like the Avatar, she can communicate with the souls connected to her, and she has an equivalent to the "Avatar State," but instead of being a defensive mode, her Avatar State is a "state of panic" in which her body attacks with full force at the slightest perceived threat or disturbance.

And this indirectly caused her to become an imminent danger and a ticking time bomb.

It's just a concept, but I wanted to share it and read your opinions and questions.

By the way, I'm using the "discussion" tag because there isn't a "general" or "other" tag or anything for fanfiction. I hope you don't mind.

Discussion Hear me out about the next Fire Avatar

After Avatar: Seven Havens, The next Avatar will be from the fire nation. And i had thought about what could the next avatar be.

I think the next avatar should be a non-bender who can’t even firebend and people will assume a fire-bender who is not the avatar just like how people who chose Yun as the avatar instead of Kiyoshi

(sorry for my poor english)

Cosplay Need help gathering the items for a Sokka halloween costume

Hi! Could you all help me figure out how I could create a Sokka costume (preferably for cheap?) Typically I've always worn ready-made costumes, none really exist for Sokka that aren't really expensive or would come in time. So I think my best option is to get the individual items and create it. Thank you!

Discussion What If Korra Accidentally Created a Second Avatar Cycle - and Every 10,000 Years Creates Another?

Okay, half-baked theory: what if there are actually two Avatar cycles now?

When Korra lost her connection to the past Avatars, what if that didn't actually destroy the original cycle from Wan to Aang? What if it basically split the cycle in two?

So now you have one Avatar being reincarnated with the connection to Wan, Aang and everyone in between, while another Avatar follows the new cycle starting with Korra.

And since Harmonic Convergence happens every 10,000 years, what if this happens every time? Like, every 10,000 years the cycle splits again and another Avatar gets added into the mix?

So eventually you could have multiple Avatars running around at the same time, each belonging to a different 10,000-year Avatar cycle.

Discussion Rank the avatars from Szeto to Roku?

Post image
4 Upvotes

How would you rank the Avatars from Szeto to Roku?

So these 5: Szeto, Yangchen, Kuruk, Kyoshi, and Roku.

I know this image contains Wan but don’t include him in your ranking.

Bonus question: which one of these 5 is most likely Aang and which is most like Korra and which seems most unlike both of them?

Szeto might not have a comic or novel, but we know he saw the civil wars within the Fire Nation the biggest threat in his time, and he rose through the bureaucracy to streamline and unify the nation without assuming power himself. His legacy was a stronger Fire Nation that the next several Avatars didn’t seem to have to worry about for a while. But making it so united and stable and modernizing did have other effects down the line.

Yangchen spent time trying to quell conflicts in the Earth Kingdom and with the spirits that had gone unnoticed during Szeto’s time. But she also seemed to make many enemies of the spirits and upset them, always seeming to favor humans over spirits and pushing them out or neglecting them, even if the world seemed relatively peaceful between the nations. She also dealt with a plot of brainwashed soldiers who were the first combustion-benders. She also ran an international spy network.

Kuruk’s time allowed him to apparently enjoy the peace between the nations that Yangchen helped stabilize, but the spirits were very unhappy. Kuruk tried to calm them but often had to defeat them, and they ate away at his life force and tormented him until he died, but he did seem to stop most of the dark spirit threats for several generations.

Kyoshi oversaw a lot during her 200+ years, starting as someone poor while someone else was believed to be the Avatar. She had to deal with one of the last major dark spirits in Father Glowworm, and unrest in the Earth King, from Chin’s rebellion and the creation of Kyoshi Island, to a peasant revolt in Ba Sing Se where she forced the Earth King to give in to some demands or else let him be overthrown. Though she was responsible for the creation of the Dai Li.

Roku also initially inherited a world at peace, even if the peace was fraying. The Fire Lord wanted him to act like Szeto, but the Fire Nation no longer needed stabilizing, it instead had too much pride and wanted to “share” its ways with the world. Roku was able to stop or reverse acts of Fire Nation aggression for his lifetime, but despite dying at an old age, his old friend and current Fire Lord somehow outlived him to become very old (having a son when he’s 82 after Roku died, and living long enough to raise him to adulthood and instill the same beliefs in him). Could Roku really have expected his friend to have become genocidal and his “true reign” to only begin in his mid-80s, after previously humbling him and containing him for decades?

Please correct if I got any of their info wrong or anything big missing.

Discussion Yin and yang (seven heavans spoiler Spoiler

Maybe I'm looking to into the idea of this but I think this friendship may break eventually. First of all the cats which seem to represent yin and yang this could just mean they've both got very different personalities but what if there both completely different what if Pavi is the avatar of raava and Nisha is the avatar of vaatus. One thing I did notice which was kinda crazy is where Nisha says together "we'll be unstoppable we could fix the world" feels awfully similar to the way sozin talked to roku. But it could also mean that there developing a story on how two avatars would work together if they have different ideas about how to bring balance.

Discussion Has anyone pointed this out yet? Spoiler

-aang beat ozai at 13 and lived 53 years after that
-korra lived 237 years
-pavi and nisha are 9 years old

-aang beat ozai during sozin’s comet

53 + 237 + 9 = 299

meaning there’s 1 year until sozin’s comet at the time of seven havens. this was definitely intentional and will be relevant later.

Discussion How did everyone feel about the Gaang vs Tagah?

I feel like everyone had the same reaction which is , they should not have lost. On first watch I felt like Katara could have solo’d him with no blood bending which ppl who didn’t watch the show tend to bring up, but I understand if they had beat Tagah there , no more movie lol. I rewatched it with a couple of friends at different times and they all have the same reaction which is , they should not have lost. You can say they never fought an air bender before but idk. And the deleted scene where they all have much more brutal deaths I feel was an exaggeration, I truly don’t think they could have lost that bad. There’s also the original villain they had which was an earth bender who was actually beating aang in a scene, would’ve been so interesting to see that original movie villain vs toph who is deemed the greatest earthbender ever. Anyways what was yalls first reaction to that fight scene on first watch?

Discussion Vaatu and the avatar cycle Spoiler

so just a wonder and understand it’s not canon, just been thinking about it since seven havens. if vaatu comes back inside raava now that he’s been defeated, what would that do to korra as she got older and vaatu got stronger? and then the next avatar and so on for 10,000 years. if defeating unavaatu didn’t destroy them, what would it look like in the avatars, especially as they got closer to the point where vaatu and raava were supposed to fight?

Question Can other spirits and humans become Avatars? How would that work?

Thumbnail
gallery
31 Upvotes

This occurred to me while I was rewatching the second season of The Legend of Korra. Could a human and any random spirit become permanently joined by touching the Spirit Portals during Harmonic Convergence? I mean, I suppose it would be highly unlikely to happen—after all, who would want to get involved in the ultimate battle between light and darkness?

But if it were to happen, how would it work? I mean, Raava didn’t affect Wan’s appearance—presumably because she’s a being of pure energy—but other types of spirit possession physically transform a human to resemble the spirit in question.

If an Avatar were to be formed, what would happen regarding future lives—would the individual be born as a normal human, or with the appearance of the spirit?

Discussion Flaming hot take: i hope korra did actually destroy the world Spoiler

Now hear me out

Yes I don't like korra

But this doesn't mean I'm actively praying on her downfall

I really hope she did directly or indirectly

Just don't

" Lol she didn't do it and was framed by vaatu lol "

And be absolved of all sins

Because this will sour the story

I want Nisha and Pavi to be in danger to allow them to grow and not stay at the same place like korra did for the majority of her show

And attempt to rebuild the relationship between the avatar and humans (and potentially spirits too)

If they're under constant danger and have to make decisions that might have consequences they need to overcome

Im 100% certain someone made this post before me

Discussion Multiple White Lotus Factions in 7 havens Spoiler

I was thinking about what it takes for the White Lotus to survive for 4 centuries in a world that hates the avatar, and without a clearly identifiable avatar to serve.

It got me wondering if there will be different, competing chapters that didn’t even know of each other’s existence. Being cut off and persecuted for so long would make communication tough.

Then I saw Bumi absent from the White Lotus pictures, and it made me wonder about what gaps in knowledge such different chapters might have with all the lost knowledge.

Maybe there will be a wilder, kind of cult like branch that is built on good intentions rather than much knowledge.

Or a big brother branch that knows more about the history but wants to be more controlling over Pavi and Nisha.

And maybe even a Red Lotus reboot that acts like an inquisition.
