Mod Announcement Addressing Concerns: Rule #1 Update- Be Nice
Hey guys!
The mod team has noticed an uptick in posts reacting to some of the plotlines developing in Avatar: Seven Havens. We want to support these conversations as we believe they are important. However, we need to navigate how this impacts the content being posted on a regular basis.
As a result, we have made an addition to the first rule of the subreddit explicitly prohibiting witch-hunting. While we understand people have a desire to call out the reactions they are seeing, it has become overwhelming with so many screenshots of comments or posts in the feed. Going forward any screenshots or direct references to these reactions will be removed.
Additionally, we are going to leave this thread pinned to allow those conversations to continue here. Please still be mindful of our rules, but you are free to discuss and share reactions to the plotlines below.

Discussion Something I've Noticed... Spoiler
galleryEvery character in this show has oval shaped pupils, except for the Avatars, who have diamonds. I wonder if that's just an Avatar thing they've added, or it has something to do with the big diamond that was running amok...
EDIT: I used the wrong word, lol. I initially got “iris” and “pupil” mixed up.

Discussion MICHAEL DANTE DIMARTINO CONFIRMS: THERE WAS NO SECRET AVATAR BETWEEN KORRA AND PAVI AND NISHA! Spoiler
In an interview with GamesRadar+, Avatar co-creator Michael Dante DiMartino debunked the theory that another Avatar existed between Korra and the twins, despite the approximately 200-year gap.
This raises new questions: Did Korra live for two centuries, or did something prevent the Avatar’s reincarnation? And is there any connection between the union of Raava and Vaatu and the emergence of the twin Avatars?
According to DiMartino, the series will reveal more details as the story unfolds. For now, the mystery continues!

Theory Theory about this haven
I have literally nothing to base this theory on other than real world history and the fact that this haven just looks completely separated from the others.
Okay so, this haven is located in the fire nation while the rest of the havens appear to be geographically located in the greater earth kingdom area. I thought it was really weird why the seven havens weren't spread out more so I started theorizing why most of them are on one half of the avatar world and one is an outlier.
The greater earth kingdom area is mainly based on China and Indian influences. While the Fire nation is based on Japan. During the Edo period of Japan, the Japanese Shogunate entered a policy known as Sakoku, or "Closed Country". We saw in korra season 3 & 4, that after the 100 year war, the fire nation while open to public trade relations, became more isolationist when it came to military and government policies.
My theory is that when the cataclysmic events began happening or even before they began happening, the fire nation entered into their own era of Sakoku. This is why the six other havens seem so separated from the fire nation one. Because before/during the start of the cataclysm, the fire nation was already preparing itself to be nearly fully isolationist.
This is also aided by it being indigo aka the color of the third eye chakra which is blocked by close-mindedness, cynicism, lack of purpose, confusion, & poor judgment. All things that are bred by long term isolation.
Obviously this is just a theory but its a cool thought i had.

Question White lotus Jae
Do yall think we’ll see this look for Jae at some point in the series?

Meme They have a chance to do something hilarious
Nuktuk hero of the Havens.
I think this would be hilarious if they turned Bolin's film into some sort of an Epic Legend that just kept getting bigger and bigger over the years.
Nuktuk Master of the Iron Water style.
or
A Gecko Eel Viper bit Nuktuk and died three days later.
Or
Nuktuk threw a villian into the air and has yet to come down.
Keep it going.

Fan Content With all the recent South Asian hate, getting these new avatars really is so nice
They didn't need to be South Asian coded, so it's not important to me in the "yay representation!" sense. It's important to me in the "I'm so happy to see you" sense.
Coming on the internet for the past two years and seeing nonstop Indian slander really sucks as someone who is Indian. Seeing our culture in such a beloved and popular franchise really does mean a lot right now. I can't wait for all the other episodes. Just a lil happy post! I’m also happy that the writers refused to lose their so called “woke” elements in a current era that review bombs and gets mad about anything that represents non-straight and non-abled people. Pavi not having a leg and Jae being LGBT is really nice to have on screen right now because society has been on a cold streak lately (Well.. All the time.)

Theory HE IS DEFINITELY GOING TO DIE!!!!!
You may think I'm just throwing tantrums, but I genuinely have a bad feeling that Captain Karthik is gonna die. 😭
Like, either he'll have a tragic death or sacrifice himself to save the twins, giving our MCs that major character development.
Why do I think this?
Just look at his character traits:
- Strict and disciplined
- The protective father figure
- The caretaker and saviour
- Loyal and selfless
- The mentor who slowly becomes family
I've been reading some fan theories about the show, but this one sounds more convincing to me.
Can't deny the fact that these are literally the traits of a father-figure type of character, the kind who's destined to be sacrificed later on to deliver a psychological shock to the protagonists and drive their character development.
I'M NOT READY FOR THIS. PLEASE LET ME BE WRONG. 😭🙏
I really want this show to get the same treatment as ATLA and TLOK instead of taking such a dark turn

Theory Pavi and Nisha have missing memories…
Pavi and Nisha have missing memories, we see in Legend of Korra that Firebenders can also learn how to manipulate spiritual energy and deal with memory/mind stuff (the one who gets Korra to connect with Wan and overcome the dark spirit infection), and we have a Firebender threatening to burn away someone’s memories. I took the Firebender’s threat as a joking death threat, a metaphor for “ending” Jae if he talks. But could it also be foreshadowing that these White Lotus members know how to remove memories?

Discussion The Cataclysm is even more depressing in the context of the Hundred Year War/ATLA
I was thinking about the whole set up of the show and how it kinda undoes a lot of the progress that was done in ATLA and to an extent LoK. ATLA started with the premise of this awful war that had been going on for 100 years that had totally taken over the world, and Aang finally gave the world a sense of peace. If LoK takes place roughly 70 years after ATLA, and Korra "caused" the cataclysm in her 40s (she was 16 I think with the show started), that was what, maybe about a 100 years of peace before the world was absolutely sunk again due an earth shattering event like the cataclysm? Like I get that ATLA felt like it had more stakes to it with there being an ongoing war vs the seemingly insignificant mini villains in LoK, and I can see them sorta going back to this high stakes situation with the cataclysm, but it just kinda feels like, all of that work for just a century of peace? Just when you think about ATLA and how much pain the world was in and how it felt things could finally be peaceful in the world after Aang stopped the fire nation, another world destroying event just sorta undoes it? Idk, just feels like this version of the world really drew the short end of the stick lol. It's been close to 200 years that the people in this world have been living like this. It's actually even more depressing when you realize how all the infrastructure and technological advancement was lost. Not to mention all the familiar places we came to know so well and love like Ba Sing Se, the North and South poles, Republic City, they're all gone in exchange for a skeleton of the past world.
Maybe that's the point of this cataclysm being part of the story, for there to be a sense of loss so great, even greater than what was felt in ATLA, cause otherwise it wouldn't have the same impact on us?
And before you see this as criticism/negativity towards the show, it's not, I actually love the show and have been rewatching the 3 episodes constantly.
It just kinda sucks how the Avatar world the way we once knew it more or less gone and that all the progress made in ATLA and LoK was totally undone (though you could argue Korra at least brought air bending back which is now a common presence in the show but still, you get what I mean).

Meme Jae giving off serious Steve-Harrington-being-a-mom vibes and I am here for it!
I loved the dynamic of Steve and the kids in Stranger Things and it feels like Jae is going to have a similar relationship with Pavi and Nisha. Looking forward to seeing how it unfolds.
