I'm sure it's not surprising that overall opinions of the franchise are negative. What might be surprising is the organization actually noticed. They probably wanted to know whether people were actually mad enough to stop spending money on team merchandise. Number one essay response "Sell the team". Keep telling it like it is Titans fans.

Discussion If the Chargers get rid of McDaniel we should swoop on him for Cam

Rumors are they might can him and promote Gase. McDaniel did wonders with Tua worth a chance bringing him in to work with Cam

Currently Adam Gase is the Chargers passing gsme specialist so y'all can just fucking be miserable while knowing nothing of other teams coaching trees.

Discussion Turns out the draft profile was spot on

At this point it appears the only part of cam wards game we fixed is he's no longer a gunslinger...........

Analysis

By Lance Zierlein

NFL Analyst

Draft Projection

Round 1

Overview

Gunslinger with good size, a big arm and the mobility to help out his offensive line. Ward can read the full field and operates with average decision-making and processing quickness. Like a shortstop, he rips sidearm rockets that fit into tight windows on all three levels, but his delivery and mechanics cause inconsistencies with placement and accuracy. He is fairly consistent regardless of the coverage scheme he sees, but figuring out disguised coverage on the pro level will take time, and it is not a given he will develop that skill. He looks to strike it rich with aggressive, vertical throws; for better efficiency, he needs to learn to mine for gold with combo reads and rhythm throws. While he has the ability to move the sticks with his legs, he’s more of a pocket passer than a dual-threat quarterback. Pocket mobility helps him extend and make plays out of structure, but the longer he’s off-schedule, the spottier his decision-making can get. With a patient plan and a nurturing offensive coordinator who can accentuate his physical tools while regulating the feast-or-famine elements of his play, Ward could become a good NFL starter inside of his first contract.

Strengths

Recognizes pre-snap pressure and can protect himself.

Displays recognition for attacking holes in the coverage.

Sudden release helps him thrive with quick game and seam throws.

Can whip throws into tight windows from 25 yards away.

Release quickness and velocity limit defender’s reaction time to the throw.

Arm talent to make throws that others in this draft class cannot.

Alters trajectory and touch for bucket throws.

Mobility creates longer cover times and second-action opportunities.

Able to read the front side and get to the back side with his progression.

Bobs and weaves around the pocket and away from pressure points.

Capable runner when the pocket breaks down but doesn’t bolt unnecessarily.

Weaknesses

Too willing to work out of structure and play hero ball.

Struggled with Georgia Tech’s disguised coverages.

Needs eye discipline to prevent coverage overlaps against zone.

Inconsistent tying his feet with his eyes when scanning.

Gets excited and cuts it loose before the route develops.

Drop-down, sidearm release creates erratic placement.

Seam throws become a security blanket when he’s uncomfortable.

Unjustifiable interceptions from reckless cross-field throws.

NFL QB-hunters will make him pay for reckless backward scrambles.

Rears back and rips throws when touch and finesse is needed.

Completed just 39% of his passes inside the red zone in 2024, per Pro Football Focus.

Discussion Colts fan wondering about Cam Ward

I only watch the Titans when they play the Colts. My impression of Cam Ward from last season was that he was legit, wasn't getting rattled, generally making the correct decisions, but didn't have many weapons around him.

Now I hear talk of benching him. Was I wrong or is this just a dysfunctional organization not properly developing a young QB?

Question Forgive my ignorance of how a NFL team's front office works, but what would firing Nihill do to improve the on-field performance of the team right now?

I'll admit, I don't know what Nihill does outside of running the front office/organization and approving the hire of the GM and Head Coach (I think). I'm sure he's over the game day experience, merchandising, sales, probably the salary cap, and certainly everything revolving around the new stadium.

What's his influence on the product on the field, though? What would firing him (as I see so many people screaming for) accomplish during the season? Seems like a scape goat situation, but I'm admittedly ignorant on a lot of this stuff. TIA!

Discussion Through 5 games, we are on pace to have the lowest offensive plays per game and time of possession this century, with the worst offensive PPG since 2010, and worst offensive YPG since 2018. Despite that, Titans rank 13th in defensive PPG (2 teams having played only 4 games)

At this point, either bench Cam or get him to start taking risks to stretch the field. Receivers are getting open, we’re just not getting them the ball. 5.8 yards per attempt passing cannot stand. 6 yards per attempt was our 3 year high with Levis’ last starting year. It has to change and we need to take risks more often. If we’re gonna be bad, let’s at least be fun to watch.

Discussion Why we can't agree on the O-line play

Statistically, our OL had been very good in pass pro going into week 5. 9th fewest pressures allowed, and I think PFF had us ranked as 2nd best on passing downs at one point. But still, I see so many people saying that we can't block for shit, that Dan Moore is the worst left tackle in football, that Cam can't be properly evaluated or blamed because of the OL play.

I think there are three main reasons why this fragmented discourse is happening:

1) People cannot separate previous years' issues from this year's. It's completely understandable; we've blocked horribly in the past few seasons, especially when Latham wasn't playing well and Cushenberry was in at center (the OL looked much better with Levin). Now, the offensive production is worse than even under Callahan. We've scored 58 points through 5 games. In 2024 and 2025, we scored 96 and 73, respectively. So I think many people assume that there's a complete talent deficiency across the board on offense which is to blame for this decrease, as there was a definite talent defeciency in previous years, but I actually think that's not the case. I think this is on paper the best OL and offensive roster we've had since 2023, which makes the production all the more concerning from the coaching staff.

2) The run game looks atrocious. In run blocking grade, Dan Moore is ranked 72nd out of 72 elligible LTs with a 41.1, and Austin Schlottman is ranked 31st out of 33 qualified Centers with a 35.5 according to PFF. I think when you have linemen being somewhat successful on passing downs, which are objectively harder to block, its kind of odd to me, which insenuates a coaching/playcalling issue rather than a talent issue. The weird thing is, on teams that daboll previously called plays for with teams in very similar development situations (2018-2021 Bills and 2024-early 2025 Giants before he was fired), they were relatively efficient running the ball. So I don't necessarily have anything conclsuive to necessarily say why exactly this poor run blocking is happening, but I think its definitively clouding how some fans are evaluating the pass-pro.

3) This is the hardest for me to prove and most controversial, but I truly believe Cam is scrambling when he doesn't need to. That's absolutely not something you crucify a young QB over, almost every young QB does this and the good ones figure out how to sense the pressure and step up in the pocket to deliver a throw. Obviously Cam did the nonchalant thing which makes it seem like he's comfortable in the pocket, and this past game at Houston was really rough but they have one of the best D-lines in the league despite being 1-4. Overall, I think Cam is rolling out a lot when he really should just get the ball out, and that could be because he's falsely sensing pressure or just because no one is open, but the data shows that we've faced a blitz rate of just 26% which is well below average. Either way, it makes it really difficult to evaluate the OL play because from a statistical standpoint, no one may be directly pressuring him but we as viewers see him "running for his life." People who are solely stat watchers might have a very different view of the OL play on a given game than people who just watch it and don't look at analytics, because of this.

These are the main reasons I believe that have created this disagreement from Titans fans as to what the actual level of the OL has been this season. Personally, I really do think this falls back on coaching. There are ways to help a young quarterback by scheming him quick passes that avoid the pass rush and get him comfortable standing in the pocket. I absolutely think this is also on Cam though, who does have to actually give us something in order to remain the starter after this season. I think a temporary benching would be relatively reasonable at this point, at least so we can let him do some self assessment and get a chance to evaluate if the offense really just looks like this with a veteran QB in there or if their lack of production has more to blame on Cam than we previously thought. I'd love to hear your thoughts on everything I've covered here.

Discussion How Would You Fix the Tennessee Titans?

Thumbnail
0 Upvotes

Depressing answers to say the least. Most insightful comment by far:

“They had a good plan and totally smashed it up. Seethe and mald because you've not got Mahomes or won a superbowl turns out to be a counterproductive way to run a franchise. Sometimes you have to be able to accept that very decent is the crest of this particular wave and you need to keep the principles intact whilst looking for an opportunity is the best way to go. Not every good system wins it all, you might just have to tweak it and go again. As opposed to gambling it all on one dude.”

For years we cried about being stuck the middle (myself included), but in hindsight, living in the middle and getting lucky with hitting on a QB (like the Chiefs, Seahawks, Steelers, etc.) is a much more stable & realistic way to build a team. We fucked it, but now we just trudge on. The goal in my mind is to stop trying to hit a home run on the QB position and instead build a solid roster than can consistently get to a 0.500 record. Once the culture is established, then we can swing for the fences trying to hit on another QB.

Amy,

It is time to sell the Tennessee Titans.

Titans fans have been asked to be patient for far too long while watching this organization cycle through coaches, executives, quarterbacks, and supposed rebuilds with little sustained success to show for it. At some point, the responsibility stops falling on the people being hired and fired and falls on the person making those decisions: ownership.

This fan base deserves better. Nashville deserves better.
The Titans are about to enter a new era with a multibillion-dollar stadium and one of the most passionate fan bases in the NFL. We should not enter that era accepting the same dysfunction, instability, and losing that have defined far too much of this franchise.

Fans have continued to buy tickets, merchandise, and support this team through season after season of disappointment. Our loyalty should not be taken for granted.

If you cannot build a stable, competitive organization capable of consistently contending, then please do what is best for the Tennessee Titans and sell the team to someone who can.
Enough resets. Enough excuses. Enough asking the fans to wait for next year.

It is time for real change, and that change needs to start at the top.

Discussion We are 12-51 in the last 63 games.

The worst NFL stretch of football is from the 2014-2017 Cleveland Browns and they went 11-53 in 64 games. It seems possible to overtake the worst stretch of football since the 1966 merger.

We are in the dog days boys. Hang in there.
