Does anyone remember Brett Maher missing 4 Straight PATs in the Wildcard Game?
2022/23 NFC Wildcard Game against the Bucs, Brett Maher miss four straight extra points, an NFL record.
Winning this game handily helped this get largely forgotten. If this had happened in a loss or close Playoff game, I couldn’t even imagine what would’ve happened.
This is one of the rare Cowboys playoff blunders that doesn’t make me sick to my stomach looking back it. I look back at it and just think of how ridiculous it’s always been 😂.
Something that would only happen to the Cowboys.

[Yarrish] Cowboys DT Quinnen Williams said after Dallas' 24-16 loss to the Buccaneers last Thursday he would have to watch the film and see where the Cowboys defense struggled in response to multiple questions from reporters. What'd he see when he watched the film back?
x.com“I’m gonna keep that to myself.”
What was his message to his teammates in Dallas' defensive players only meeting on Monday?
“I’m gonna keep that to myself also.”
Does he believe players only meetings help?
“I believe they do.”
In what ways?
“I’m gonna keep that to myself.”
Joseph Hoyt:
Cowboys DT Quinnen Williams elected to not answer a lot of questions today, saying that he wanted to keep some answers to himself, as Tommy Yarrish shows here.
Williams was also asked, as a leader, how much responsibility he takes for the defense.
“I take full personal responsibility. I looked in the mirror for myself. I know I need to play better. I need to do better. I take full accountability and full responsibility for the way this defense is going at the moment.”

[Machota] Dak Prescott when asked if he buys into the thought that the Cowboys still have not recovered from that payoff loss to the Packers at AT&T Stadium in 2023: “No, I don’t.” He said that’s the first time he’s heard that. “I get it. I’m not mad at the question. It’s fair (to ask).”
x.comThe Cowboys had three consecutive 12-win seasons entering that game. They are 16-22-1 since.

[Ochoa] Dallas Cowboys DB Caleb Downs is the only player in the NFL this season (so far) to log at least 100 snaps at nickel as well as safety. He has also played 66 snaps in the box. Downs has been targeted on only 5.3% of his coverage snaps at nickel.
x.comless than half the rate of any of the other 31 players with at least 50 coverage snaps from such alignment.

[Paganetti] On @newheightshow , @JasonKelce asked Mike Tomlin what he thinks when a team has a players only meeting. “I think you’re dead.” I found 116 confirmed cases over the last 25 years in which NFL teams held publicly reported players only meetings during the regular season.
x.comEntering the meeting: 367-408-3 (47.4%)
Rest of the season: 543-569-2 (48.8%)
The win-loss record barely changed.
But what about performance compared to expectations?
Before the meeting: 324-435-19 against the spread (42.7%)
Rest of season: 561-526-27 against the spread (51.6%)
The biggest jump comes in the first game immediately afterward. Teams have gone 73-43-2 against the spread in that game (62.9%).
Everybody gets on the same page. For about a week.

[Machota] Dak Prescott talking about supporting Cowboys TE Jake Ferguson: “I heard Jake taking some ownership of it, obviously, as he does and did from the jump to some of the receivers. And I just kind of jumped his ass about, like, ‘We know that, man."
x.com"You don’t have to explain yourself to this group. The trust, blood, sweat and tears. We’re the ones who sacrifice and do it together. We don’t need your explanation. We all believe in you. We watch the way you practice and prepare, forget about it. Let’s move on.”

Barham taking snaps at OLB per Hill
Man I really hope they aren’t moving our best off ball linebacker to a spot where he will be mediocre at. If he’s at edge and good then I’m for it but I hope this isn’t the big move they were talking about

[Machota] Cowboys DC Christian Parker said he will “most likely” be calling Sunday night’s game from the sideline like he has all season. Jerry Jones said earlier this week that Parker would be moving up to the coaching booth

Packers Week...
I want to have hope, but unfortunately we are cursed against them, and while the Packers aren't great, they're not a bad team. If we fall to 2-4, it's going to be really hard to be optimistic about the rest of the season.

Tyler Guyton’s Experiment Payoff
galleryUndoubtedly Cowboys made a big gamble when they selected Guyton with a late first round pick, and directly moved him to LT.
His college experience was almost entirely on RT. So Guyton’s first two years were quite rough, as everyone needs time to learn something unfamiliar.
During this year so far, Guyton makes a big leap. Cowboys seem to have found their franchise LT.

The players only meeting discourse is PEAK Cowboys derangement.
You hear about players only meetings every year. EVERY YEAR. Never have I heard such negative discourse surrounding it.
The typical "haha look at those idiots, that's not gonna work".
Maybe they're right, but where were you before?

Cowboys First Round QBs
I could Google it but id rather talk to you fine people. Do we have the longest active streak of not taking a QB in the first round (37 years). Not complaining about Dak by all means just curious if anyone else has a longer active streak.

Don't be the Jets
Y'all, I'm saying it here for posterity: if we pull a Jets and don't get a single interception this season, I'm gonna lose my mind. Like I might just turn off the TV when we're on defense.
Secondary, time to step up. 0 INTs through 5 games is despicable.
Brb, gonna go cry at the some All-22 😭

Anyone know what this is or where to get another?
My dad found these in a car in a junkyard. Anyone know what they are or where they came from?

[Machota] Cowboys coach Brian Schottenheimer said rookie OLB Malachi Lawrence will be getting more opportunities going forward. Lawrence said he’s getting more comfortable every week, mentioning the valuable work he got going against Giants LT Andrew Thomas in Week 1 and Buccaneers LT Tristan Wirfs
x.com“That’s just building my confidence. Because I know as I’m growing, every tackle I play is not gonna be an All-Pro. So if I can beat an All-Pro, I know I can beat anybody.”
Lawrence on Dallas’ defense: “We’re gonna turn it around for sure. We know what we have in this locker room. The offense has great players. The defense has great players as well. We just got to come together, just build our identity and grow on it.”

Mike Tomlin's interpretation of players-only meetings: "I think you're dead"
nbcsports.comIn the opinion of long-time Steelers coach Mike Tomlin, there’s one clear conclusion to be drawn as to a team that feels compelled to have a players-only meeting. Asked for his thoughts on the topic during a visit to the New Heights podcast with Travis and Jason Kelce, Tomlin kept it short and not sweet.
“I think you’re dead,” Tomlin said.
Tomlin later offered a more specific assessment. “If it did occur, I’d like to not hear about it,” Tomlin said. “The fact that you hear about it is what makes it BS.”
We can’t recall ever hearing about a players-only meeting during Tomlin’s 19 years with the Steelers. Which may be one of the reasons why the Steelers never had a losing season in nearly two decades with Tomlin at the helm.
It’s a manifestation of desperation. And it necessarily tells the world that the players believe the coaches aren’t giving them the answers they need, so they’re searching for answers of their own.
