The Huskies will be taking on Gonzaga this weekend at the Kraken practice rink in Northgate at 830pm on Friday and 8pm on Saturday(the Kraken game is at 3pm Saturday so no conflict!).

The 5-1 Huskies are reigning PAC-8 champions and should put on a great performance this weekend, likely bulldozing Gonzaga as they look to assemble another strong PAC-8 campaign.

Tickets are $10 for anyone 12 and over, $5 for UW students and kids 6-17, and kids under 6 and veterans get in free. Parking is free and you're allowed to bring in snacks and sodas if you want(I brought a whole charcuterie platter from QFC to the last home game to split with friends).

Also, this weekend's theme is PURPLE OUT so make sure to wear purple to the game if you want to support UW!

Can't make it this weekend? The Huskies will be hosting USC next weekend on Friday and Saturday as well!

Got any questions? Post them and I'll try to answer the best I can!

(Thank you to the mods for letting me post this)

Less than a month until the Global Games in Finland! I was hoping we could get a meet up planned for any redditors/fans who will be making the trek to Helsinki for either or both of the games :)

If you’re going and interested in a meet up please comment and we can start making some plans?

I’ve been enjoying this little series the Kraken on doing on their YouTube channel. This episode talks about the draft and shows the draft room when they took Reid. In this Botteril jumps on the phone decking a trade offer they thought was fair but turned it down to take Reid and it just made me curious on what the offer was and with which team. Overall I’m happy they drafted Reid but curiosity gets me

Just noticed this on the Kraken game ticket information site.... November 4th will be the first game with the yet to be shown Remix Jersey...

Sidebar, I love how goofy the JOFA helmet looks. And the leaderboard looks super boring right now only because we’ve had no repeat wins yet.

My take is when you play bad as a team and still beat a team you should beat then that is a positive development. In years past yesterday's game would have resulted in a loss once they tied the game up. As I said before, I'm not predicting the Stanley cup but I am saying the team shows improvement

This is my first season as an STM and am curious about this Las Vegas road trip experience. The email was short on details. Have they done something similar in the past, and if so, can someone who went share their experience? Is it just a matter of meeting up there and we all have seats in one particular spot, and that's it?

Guest here checking in on a fellow nautical-themed Pacific team. Watching the game from today, and 13 minutes into the first I’ve never heard so many fun expressions.

Breaking the ice…

Lighting the lamp…

Pawed down…

Mummified by…

On his horse…

Makes it fun to listen to.

I did a version of this yesterday but folks pointed out some meaningful flaws, so I did a couple things different, and Seattle popped out as a notable team.

First, I looked just going into the third period. So blowing leads, or coming back from a deficit in the third.

Then I looked at this controlling for team quality. Not in the worlds most rigorous way, just imagine this scenario:

1. You play 100 games, and in 35 of them you enter the third behind
2. You win 9 of the 35, which is 26%. Is that good or bad?
3. Well, in your other 65 games you took about 78% of the points, and other teams in the league at that level come back from trailing at 15%, which is ~5 games.
4. Therefore, you make come backs a bit more than expected, 4 more times than expected.
5. Over the five and change seasons, anything within about 9 games of expectation is normal variation

I think this gives a much more interesting picture of teams that make come backs and blow leads, irrespective of just "good teams good bad teams bad."

BTW, in 410 games the Kraken came back in 15 of 184, expected 27 (-12) and blew 18 of 138 leads, expected 27 (-9)

In a recent John Forslund appreciation post, someone linked to a years-old thread cataloguing his great lines. Within that thread someone* brilliantly made a bingo card for Forslund's calls. Unfortunately, being several years old, it contained a number of nicknames for players who are no longer on the roster.

So, I created an updated (and hopefully timeless) version! Then, since Forslund also regularly calls national broadcast games, I made a generic version without any team-specific references. Here, for your entertainment:

Play John Forslund Calls a Kraken Game BINGO

Play John Forslund Calls a Hockey Game BINGO

Both versions have enough unique squares to fill more than two full cards, so there should be plenty of variety for generating different cards. Happy to edit if anyone thinks of new additions or notices something that should be removed/edited. Edit: also open to color critiques, however please note that I can't control the "cross out* color, only the background, grid lines, and text.

Happy BINGOing Kraken fam!
