Just noticed this on the Kraken game ticket information site.... November 4th will be the first game with the yet to be shown Remix Jersey...

Sidebar, I love how goofy the JOFA helmet looks. And the leaderboard looks super boring right now only because we’ve had no repeat wins yet.

My take is when you play bad as a team and still beat a team you should beat then that is a positive development. In years past yesterday's game would have resulted in a loss once they tied the game up. As I said before, I'm not predicting the Stanley cup but I am saying the team shows improvement

Guest here checking in on a fellow nautical-themed Pacific team. Watching the game from today, and 13 minutes into the first I’ve never heard so many fun expressions.

Breaking the ice…

Lighting the lamp…

Pawed down…

Mummified by…

On his horse…

Makes it fun to listen to.

This is my first season as an STM and am curious about this Las Vegas road trip experience. The email was short on details. Have they done something similar in the past, and if so, can someone who went share their experience? Is it just a matter of meeting up there and we all have seats in one particular spot, and that's it?

I did a version of this yesterday but folks pointed out some meaningful flaws, so I did a couple things different, and Seattle popped out as a notable team.

First, I looked just going into the third period. So blowing leads, or coming back from a deficit in the third.

Then I looked at this controlling for team quality. Not in the worlds most rigorous way, just imagine this scenario:

1. You play 100 games, and in 35 of them you enter the third behind
2. You win 9 of the 35, which is 26%. Is that good or bad?
3. Well, in your other 65 games you took about 78% of the points, and other teams in the league at that level come back from trailing at 15%, which is ~5 games.
4. Therefore, you make come backs a bit more than expected, 4 more times than expected.
5. Over the five and change seasons, anything within about 9 games of expectation is normal variation

I think this gives a much more interesting picture of teams that make come backs and blow leads, irrespective of just "good teams good bad teams bad."

BTW, in 410 games the Kraken came back in 15 of 184, expected 27 (-12) and blew 18 of 138 leads, expected 27 (-9)

In a recent John Forslund appreciation post, someone linked to a years-old thread cataloguing his great lines. Within that thread someone* brilliantly made a bingo card for Forslund's calls. Unfortunately, being several years old, it contained a number of nicknames for players who are no longer on the roster.

So, I created an updated (and hopefully timeless) version! Then, since Forslund also regularly calls national broadcast games, I made a generic version without any team-specific references. Here, for your entertainment:

Play John Forslund Calls a Kraken Game BINGO

Play John Forslund Calls a Hockey Game BINGO

Both versions have enough unique squares to fill more than two full cards, so there should be plenty of variety for generating different cards. Happy to edit if anyone thinks of new additions or notices something that should be removed/edited. Edit: also open to color critiques, however please note that I can't control the "cross out* color, only the background, grid lines, and text.

Happy BINGOing Kraken fam!

*If this was you, please comment here for credit on the original idea! It's late and I'm too tired to go back and find your username, sorry.

That was a nailbiter against Philly

THE FLYERS ARE 0-5-2!!! ZERO FUCKING WINS!!! THESE ORANGE-AND-BLACK NINCOMPOOPS HAVE BEEN PLAYING HOCKEY LIKE A BUNCH OF DRUNK FLAMINGOS TRYING TO ASSEMBLE A TRAMPOLINE IN A HURRICANE!!! 💀😭

PHILADELPHIA FANS ARE ALREADY CHANTING FOR RICK TOCCHET TO GET FIRED!!! BROTHER HASN’T EVEN FINISHED UNPACKING HIS TOOTHBRUSH AND THE ENTIRE CITY WANTS HIM SHIPPED TO

AND DON’T YOU DARE TURN THIS INTO A TRAP GAME!!! THE FLYERS ARE MORE DESPERATE THAN A SEAGULL FIGHTING SIX TODDLERS OVER A FRENCH FRY!!! THEIR POWER PLAY HAS THE ELECTRICAL OUTPUT OF A WET TOASTER!!! THEIR DEFENSE IS MORE CATTYWAMPUS THAN A SHOPPING CART WITH THREE WHEELS AND A LIVE POSSUM IN THE CHILD SEAT!!!

I WANT JOEY DACCORD PROTECTING THAT NET LIKE A CANADIAN GOOSE GUARDING THE LAST PARKING SPOT AT COSTCO ON BLACK FRIDAY!!! I WANT THE KRAKEN FORECHECK SWARMING LIKE A THOUSAND ANGRY BEES WHO JUST DISCOVERED THEIR HONEY GOT REPLACED WITH KETCHUP!!! I WANT PHILADELPHIA’S DEFENSE SO FLUMMOXED THEY START ASKING THE ZAMBONI DRIVER FOR LEGAL REPRESENTATION!!! 🦑🔥

THE KRAKEN WILL STUFF THE FLYERS INTO A MALFUNCTIONING VENDING MACHINE AND MAKE RICK TOCCHET CALL A PLUMBER TO RETRIEVE HIS DEFENSEMEN!!! THEN WE’RE SENDING GRITTY TO THE PHILADELPHIA ZOO WITH A RETURN LABEL AND A BAG OF EXPIRED CHEETOS!!! 😭🦑🔥

Anyone going to Helsinki for the game, either with or without the travel package? I'll be around that area anyways and plan to go on Wednesday Nov. 12.

Reached out to my ticket rep and they didn't know what section the ticket packages were in / pointed me to the travel company which hasn't replied yet.

Anyone know? Would be nice to sit next to fellow squids though it's not like we present a remotely credible threat to the Canes anyways...

e: UPDATE, got a reply from the travel guys... they don't know either. They get the tickets "last minute"; I think the only guarantee is that they are Price Level 2. I would be somewhat unhappy about this if I was paying $$$ for a package.

e2: I ended up picking Section 116. See some of you Internet weirdos there in a month.

Episode III of The Voyage dives into training camp, the new alternate captains, the legacy of Bob Condor, the new chip on the shoulder mentality, and the first two regular season games against CGY and EDM.

Moving up in the world! (Out of the bottom 5 lol)
