GAME THREAD Post-Game Thread: Seattle Kraken at Philadelphia Flyers - 13 Oct 2026

The Kraken survived a tied game and took it in the shootout.
7:57 into the first, B. McMann fired one home from the low circle on the power play, and the Kraken went in front 1-0.
8:54 into the second, V. Ottavainen let a quick one go from the top of the circle for his first NHL goal, and the Kraken doubled the advantage to 2-0.
6:07 into the third, C. Dvorak wired a shot off a short windup from the circle, and the Flyers drew within a goal at 2-1. 1:13 later, T. Zegras fired one before the goalie could set from the slot, and the Flyers had erased the 2-0 deficit, level at 2-2. The overtime passed without a goal.
The Flyers faced five power plays and killed four of them. The Kraken's penalty kill went 3-for-3. The Flyers also struck the iron once. The Flyers outhit the Kraken 31-13. Grubauer stopped 24 of 26, while Vladar turned aside 29 of 31.
Final: The Kraken won 3-2 in a shootout.

Went to r/flyers to see how they're taking this. Michkov and Tocchet are like the only two things being mentioned in the same sentence on the regular. That and how bad of a record "is still on the table".

Good game overall, except for 10 minutes at the beginning of the 3rd, we were mostly in control. Catton is already our best player at zone entries, and it helps so much the team with puck possession and overall control of the flow of the game. I also thought it was a decent game from Matty, winning battles along the board, even in the offensive zone. Still quite a few boneheaded plays that could have cost us dearly if not for a solid Grubauer. Good for him too for standing up to trashy Zegras.

40 minute games aren't good enough. This and Washington shouldn't have been so "mostly good". We have to be able to routinely compete and while the chemistry is there, I don't think the drive is yet. We can and must do better.
