CORRECTION headline: sorry, I meant second reduction (revision)
Hello everyone,
I (41F) am 1.5 years out from my "reduction" (April) 2025 and am currently in the midst of deciding whether I should go through with the revision my surgeon has offered me.
I say "reduction" because he only took out 80 grams, despite me having communicated my wishes of having a lighter, less voluminous chest (next to the obvious lift) - I wanted to be able to wear cute, braless tops / dresses, to shop for bras easily and to simply wear a tight(ish) shirt without people staring at my chest.
While my size did go down about half a cup size (from an 75/80E - I had wanted a C cup, but fit into some of my old bras), it still feels quite "full" to me and I still don't feel comfortable or able to do all the things mentioned above.
I do think that my surgeon did a beautiful job aesthetically speaking, it just wasn't what I wanted, and it took him quite a while to admit that it wasn't what we had discussed - according to him, it was "proportionate", and lots of women paid money to have breasts my size (WTF?). He didn't see the issue at all, and initially completely dismissed my feelings when I was incredibly disappointed and also somewhat depressed after the first surgery.
Now that he has finally agreed to do a revision, I will still have to pay the hospital fees again. It's quite a bit of money, but nowhere near as expensive as doing a revision with another surgeon (which I couldn't afford). However, I am starting to wonder whether I should entrust my body to the same person who didn't listen the first time around, and who hasn't been great at communicating throughout the whole process. What if he takes away too much this time?
At the same time, I am also doubting myself - should I go through with a revision and the whole healing process again, risking potential complications, or just try to be happy with the results?
I know body dysmorphia is not uncommon after this surgery; am I crazy for thinking that I've still got a large chest? I have always been more of a tomboy & and never wanted to be the girl with big boobs that I suddenly became at age 13.. and while I have definitely grown into my feminine side too, I still hate the feeling and the stares that I get when I wear tighter clothes.
I also know that menopause is around the corner, and the thought of my breasts growing even more is agonizing to me.
I would really appreciate some advice or if someone shared their experiences with a revision - thank you so much!! 💜
P.S. I have included my before, my goal pic and my afters (1.5 YPO)
