From what I can see, he is a baby or very young. Caught him yesterday and pointed a video camera at him overnight and although he hides all day under the paper towel, at night he comes out to drink water and eat peanut butter as we well as millet and other food I left him.
I am leaving on vacation tomorrow and my wife would not allow me to keep him anyway. I also feel he must miss the company of other mice and might be depressed. I hate to do it but I think I have no options at this point but to release him outside. He just doesn't seem to move very fast as I have seen some larger mice do. :(

I posted on rats and was told it seemed to be a field mouse, posting here as well now for advice! Whats the best course of action to take? I know its wild but I want to give it the best chance at survival. We're willing to raise it as a pet, or care for it long enough for it to be able to be released. We don't have a wildlife rehab nearby. What is the best we can do for this little guy?

I read anecdotes from a couple of owners that apparently rats prefer to pee on smooth rocks which then reduces overall smells since you can clean the rocks. Is there any information about this with regards to mice?
Can you all please send your cutest mouse pics to cheer me up? Thank youu

At the recommendation of y'all, I ditched the saucer wheel for a proper one. I made sure to get one that was 9 inches. Cinnamon was curious about it and gave it some experimental steps, but he doesn't seem to like it compared to the saucer. I think it's because stopping makes him swing back on the wheel.
Is there anything I can do to encourage him to use the wheel? I want to make sure he's able to get his movement in!

I'm free to take in a single buck or 1-3 females. The enclosure is a 92x40x40cm modified rabbit hutch to allow for 40cm deep bedding in one section of the enclosure. I currently have one buck in a hutch, set up to meet his disability needs so it is a but uncluttered but, I would love to show it off in DMs for anyone interested, so they can get a feel for my set up. They will also get out of cage time if they want it. They don't have to be tame - I will happily take in aggressive or unsocialized mice and leave them to themselves. I have tons of money saved soley for veterinary costs, so your pet will be covered on that front. I can feed whichever food/blocks you wish, or my own mix, as long as it is species appropriate.
Due to the small enclosure size (and my love for oldies) I will only be taking in elderly mice. Would love to offer a home to one/a small group, so hit me up! I will also take in any similarly sized rodents, such as deer mice or wood mice, if needing a home. No harvest mice, duprasi, hamsters, or fancy rats.

I’ve thought about getting a regular wire cage then adding mesh, but I’m wondering if any of the ones online will work for my guy. Has anyone had any luck, or have particular personal experiences or opinions? Thanks!!

I have pet rats and have used a Maxi Duna Multy as a hospital cage but i am planning on only owning dwarf rats from now on. This is far too large to be used as a hospital cage for them and i will have no use for it anymore. Would this work as a cage for mice? The measurments are 99 x 51,5 x 36 cm.
