This is also why I have to appreciate the mail in ballot system for California. For the mid-term election, the ballot is about 7 pages. I just can't imagine blindly going to a polling station and trying to fill this out in 15 minutes.
To look up every candidate and measure takes time, so please factor that in the coming weeks.

Edit - I am aware that the flashing left arrow means yield first (similar to a standard green). However, I’m saying I should turn left into the left lane and he should turn right into the right lane. We all win and traffic moves along.
Honestly, I don’t know the exact rules of the road on this one. However, especially in LA, I’m always on team keep the traffic moving. If we can both make the turn, then let’s go…keep it all moving. But if I’ve been doing it wrong this whole time, tell me now or I’ll continue to be a menace.

I’m shopping around for new apartments and came across this listing but the parking entrance walls holding the building look really thin… would these even hold up during a real earthquake? It was built in 1990.
ETA: Ty everyone that shared resources! My question has been answered.

Sound artist Kenny Zhao and video artist Elenie Chung came up with the idea for a collaboration titled “L.A. Loves a Car Chase” after they began talking about a chase they’d both recently seen on Reddit. During their recent performance in downtown L.A., Chung projected news footage of police pursuits she’d edited together while Zhao improvised a pulsing soundtrack on a synthesizer.
“What I wanted to add to it was small reminders of the anxiety that builds underneath, while still playing up the excitement that goes on,” Zhao says.
The screening elicited gasps, boos, and laughter from the audience. But both artists recognize the danger of these pursuits.
“A lot of the chases end really poorly for innocent bystanders or for the people who are being pursued,” says Zhao.

Due to increased ICE activity, we’re instituting a daily ICE megathread. All ICE-related content belongs here, including sightings, activity reports, news, questions, updates, and general discussion.
Centralizing discussion keeps information easy to find, especially for people moving around the city who want timely, relevant updates without having to sort through the entire subreddit. ICE-related content posted outside this megathread will be removed and redirected here.
This thread is sorted by New by default so the most recent information remains visible.
We recognize this is a tense topic and emotions can run high. That said, content that incites, encourages, or threatens violence will be removed, may result in a ban, and may also violate Reddit’s site-wide rules, which can carry site-wide consequences. Keep reports factual and grounded.
Include as many of the following details as possible:
Clear, accurate information helps everyone. Speculation and rumors do not.
(These are not moderated or verified by this subreddit. Use caution.)

Any LA County librarians in this sub? Did any of your branches get a restock of the hello kitty library cards? Not sure if the restocks were a rumor or if I’m being hopeful. TIA!

Per Meteorologist Chris Nunley
“DANGEROUS FIRE RISK THURSDAY AND FRIDAY🚨🔥across Southern California, Santa Ana winds will strengthen rapidly Thursday morning into the early afternoon as high pressure builds across the Intermountain West. Widespread east to northeast winds of 15-25 mph are expected, with humidity levels dropping as low as 10%. The greatest concern is across southeastern Ventura County and western Los Angeles County, where sustained winds of 20-30 mph and gusts of 40-50 mph could combine with extremely dry vegetation to produce extreme fire weather conditions. High fire weather conditions will also extend into parts of San Luis Obispo County.
Farther north, central and northern California will also see weather concerns across the Sierra Nevada foothills, Sacramento Valley, Napa Valley, and nearby coastal ranges. Gusty offshore winds, above-normal temperatures, and extremely low humidity will increase the potential for rapid wildfire growth. Winds of 10-15 mph, locally 20-25 mph in favored corridors, are expected, while afternoon humidity could fall to 10-15%. Some locations may experience poor overnight humidity recovery, allowing vegetation to remain exceptionally dry.
Any wildfire that develops under these conditions could spread quickly, particularly in wind-prone valleys, foothills, and mountain communities. Recent rainfall in parts of Southern California does not eliminate the fire danger, especially as strengthening offshore winds accelerate drying.
Residents across California should remain alert for Red Flag Warnings, prepare for possible power shutoffs, avoid outdoor activities that could produce sparks, and have an evacuation plan ready🚨🔥”

I have a trip coming up on 11/4. Going to Chicago on American Airlines. Depart 7:15am. If I take the Fly Away at 5am from Union Station to LAX. Will it be enough time to catch the flight?

Was out walking my dog when I found a literal bag of free weed. Hundreds of dollars of weed just out on the sidewalk...
Obvs I didn't take it, because I'm too scared of fenty, but still, crazy.
Blessings on your sobriety friend. 🙏

Title says it all. Anyone been through this or know a service that isn't $400?
Edit; Our driver pulled through and arranged a ride. Lucky to have him. 😊
Edit2: thank you all - such a helpful community. I had a few valid options for backups.
