You tailgated me in the horseshoe, gave me intentionally confusing and conflicting instructions on your bullhorn, arbitrarily defined me looking for my passengers as "waiting", followed me as I continued down the horseshoe (like you told me to) while tailgating me still, and then wrote me a parking ticket the moment I pulled over to clarify what the fuck you wanted from me. Absolutely nobody was inconvenienced or endangered by anything I did. If anything your tailgating and confusing instructions caused more problems than I ever did. You singled me out for behavior everyone else was doing, arbitrarily defined the rules, harassed me as I attempted to move along and go around, and then maliciously wrote a ticket after engineering a confusing situation on purpose.
You are the worst kind of human on this earth, you thrive on conflict and wielding the tiny iota of authority you possess to fuck everyone else as payback for your own miserable life. Everyone you know hates you. You will die alone and miserable and no one will be sad when you do.

I've been meaning to post this since forever because it pisses the s#!t outta me, especially because it's so easy to just mindlessly hit Accept that they almost got me a few times.
When you go in person to a Kaiser appt, they will usually ask you if you're ok with them using as "recording tool" so they can better focus on you. That's an AI notetaker, and you should absolutely refuse it. Always.
Now, this one is even more frustrating, because they added it as part of the onboarding screen whenever you join a Telehealth appointment, and there are several reasons why this is problematic:
A) The user interface is as misleading as those amazon prime cancellation screens, just so damn easy to hit accept without thinking.
B) The way it's worded, you'd never be able to tell this involves AI. They can retain it for as long as they deem necessary. Your private information becomes training material and there's no way to guarantee that won't become public at one point or another. As we're all aware, leaks happen.
C) Gives the illusion of consent, you're not being informed about the potential risks beyond those I mentioned above, but also you have the ai notetaker hallucinating stuff that is not there, and who's to guarantee that won't be used against you in court one day?
I'm going to stop now because I don't want to ramble and I think I made my point, but just be aware this is happening, and if you care about your privacy you should always decline, both in person and through Telehealth, but also, you should let Kaiser know (respectfully) how you feel about this misleading practice.
We're all training data now. Be smart.
TL;DR: Kaiser’s asking you to use an AI-recording tool in a very sketchy and misleading way. Say no (and f*ck AI).
Edit: I reached out to Kaiser with these same concerns I'm voicing and will post a follow-up once they reply.
Edit 2: Found out Kaiser's provider is called Abridge, they host the data on a remote cloud server, and here's a lawyer explaining all the possible issues that carries, even if HIPAA compliant and SOC 2 certified: https://www.linkedin.com/posts/russpearlman_ai-aigovernance-healthtech-share-7449477067735236608-gS7i/
Edit 3: This is about this screen not providing elements for folks to provide informed consent. A great solution would be having the actual doctor explain this to you and being able to ask questions, just like it happens in person.

Due to increased ICE activity, we’re instituting a daily ICE megathread. All ICE-related content belongs here, including sightings, activity reports, news, questions, updates, and general discussion.
Centralizing discussion keeps information easy to find, especially for people moving around the city who want timely, relevant updates without having to sort through the entire subreddit. ICE-related content posted outside this megathread will be removed and redirected here.
This thread is sorted by New by default so the most recent information remains visible.
We recognize this is a tense topic and emotions can run high. That said, content that incites, encourages, or threatens violence will be removed, may result in a ban, and may also violate Reddit’s site-wide rules, which can carry site-wide consequences. Keep reports factual and grounded.
Include as many of the following details as possible:
Clear, accurate information helps everyone. Speculation and rumors do not.
(These are not moderated or verified by this subreddit. Use caution.)

in my opinion their food is usually just ok 😅 animal style is an improvement but so many other fast food places are just more worth it in terms of price / length of the line. Maybe I’m biased though because I’m from the south and I just generally think most fast food is mediocre compared to Cookout.

I’m shopping around for new apartments and came across this listing but the parking entrance walls holding the building look really thin… would these even hold up during a real earthquake? It was built in 1990.
ETA: Ty everyone that shared resources! My question has been answered.

Edit - I am aware that the flashing left arrow means yield first (similar to a standard green). However, I’m saying I should turn left into the left lane and he should turn right into the right lane. We all win and traffic moves along.
Honestly, I don’t know the exact rules of the road on this one. However, especially in LA, I’m always on team keep the traffic moving. If we can both make the turn, then let’s go…keep it all moving. But if I’ve been doing it wrong this whole time, tell me now or I’ll continue to be a menace.

Sound artist Kenny Zhao and video artist Elenie Chung came up with the idea for a collaboration titled “L.A. Loves a Car Chase” after they began talking about a chase they’d both recently seen on Reddit. During their recent performance in downtown L.A., Chung projected news footage of police pursuits she’d edited together while Zhao improvised a pulsing soundtrack on a synthesizer.
“What I wanted to add to it was small reminders of the anxiety that builds underneath, while still playing up the excitement that goes on,” Zhao says.
The screening elicited gasps, boos, and laughter from the audience. But both artists recognize the danger of these pursuits.
“A lot of the chases end really poorly for innocent bystanders or for the people who are being pursued,” says Zhao.

I have a trip coming up on 11/4. Going to Chicago on American Airlines. Depart 7:15am. If I take the Fly Away at 5am from Union Station to LAX. Will it be enough time to catch the flight?

Title says it all. Anyone been through this or know a service that isn't $400?
Edit; Our driver pulled through and arranged a ride. Lucky to have him. 😊
Edit2: thank you all - such a helpful community. I had a few valid options for backups.

A November ballot initiative to rewrite California’s longstanding environmental law could shorten timeframes for big construction, but environmentalists say the change would give residents less say in stopping noisy, polluting and disruptive projects.
Proposition 45 would amend the California Environmental Quality Act, also known as CEQA, which requires a thorough examination of the impacts imposed by large public and private development projects on air, water, traffic, noise and endangered species, and requires builders to lessen these impacts.
Proposition 45 would fast-track some of the largest projects by requiring tighter deadlines for governments to review potential environmental impacts, reducing it to 365 days maximum, and limiting a community’s ability to slow down or stop projects.
In Los Angeles, office complexes, multi-story residential buildings, shopping centers, roads, and any projects that would have significant environmental impacts — noise, air pollution, traffic or destruction of biological habitats — are likely to be subject to lengthy environmental review under CEQA. Think Port of Los Angeles shipping terminals, UCLA Research Park, the Scattergood Generating Station modernization in Playa Del Rey, and the Crenshaw Crossing project.
Most projects, however, are either subject to a brief environmental review, or, in the case of individual homes and small apartment complexes, no review at all.
If passed by voters, the measure would also reserve CEQA review for only certain “essential” projects, including roads, bridges, schools and broadband infrastructure. It would also require courts to rule faster — within 270 days — on any lawsuits to stop or amend these projects under CEQA. The city, county, or state department overseeing construction determines what is essential and whether the project is exempt or subject to full environmental review.
CEQA has long been criticized by the real estate industry because it can delay plan approvals and increase costs.
Proponents of Proposition 45 argue that it would modernize an outdated review system and speed up essential infrastructure while keeping fundamental environmental safeguards intact.
Opponents say CEQA helps keep communities and ecosystems healthy, and the measure would favor developers and polluters, not the public.

We've compiled the endorsements of 13 different progressive organizations, including advocacy groups, local media outlets, progressive politicians, and unions, in one interactive page to help you decide who to vote for. This is a free page, and each guide has its own link so you can check out the reasoning for (some of) the org's endorsements. It's tilted towards left/progressive voices.
