Superhero Mount Rushmore is a terrible concept

Its simplistic, it’s narrow, and it varies in definition from argument to argument. Some people say it’s the four most iconic, some people say it’s the four most influencial, and some say it’s the four biggest sellers. It makes no sense to argue if every single person has a different definition of what it is, because they can change it to fit their narrative

Discussion [Discussion] Why Isn't DC Doing It Up Big for Wonder Woman's 85th Anniversary on October 21, 2026?

Thumbnail instagram.com
0 Upvotes

While Superman and Batman received huge events, so far Diana has not. Diana of Themyscira, Wonder Woman, has been an icon and a role model for generations, standing as one of the most recognizable superheroes ever created. For nearly a century since her debut in All Star Comics #8, she has grown into not only one of the pillars of DC Comics, but a character whose influence extends far beyond the pages of comic books. As one-third of DC’s iconic Trinity alongside Superman and Batman, Wonder Woman’s place in the medium’s history is undeniable. But as Wonder Woman celebrates her 85th anniversary this month, fans have started asking one question: Why isn’t DC celebrating this milestone for her? The conversation has been exploding across social media, where many have begun to compare the celebrations and even dedicated days that the Man of Steel and the Dark Knight get, but in the case of the Amazing Amazon, there’s hardly anything to show for her despite the generational impact she has had since her creation.

Discussion [Cover] Hot take: Martian Mahunter is the best detective, not Batman

Post image
44 Upvotes

He has at least thousands of years of experience being a literal manhunter (New 52 says he is 225 million years old but newer canon won't specify)

J'onn can read the minds of everyone on earth, solving cases before Batman, Chimp and Tim can even mobilize, surveil suing his invisibility, phasing and telepathically erasing his presence if detected, relay information to law enforcement at the speed of thought (and his brain thinks FAST). shapeshift (thereby deceiving suspects), using his Martian vision to detect anything and, wait for it;

He has 9 SENSES! He can detect more than humans (or chimps) ever can.

Oh and he has limited telekinesis to mess with suspects by moving objects around like a ghost.

Martian Manhunter is the best detective on earth, now that he on earth and I will die on that hill.

Comics [Discussion] Before I Put Them All on The Shelf How’s it Looking?

Thumbnail

I’m one of those people who try to put their books in chronological order when putting books on the shelf, even though dc is a mess when it comes to that, cause I’m just odd like that. I’ve read these all online and have got most in hand. To make this I used release order, fan timelines, in continuity order, my favorite books, and the new history of the dc universe to make this and I feel like most of them fit even if there are some contradictions like with Son of the Demon and Batman and son, but cause I love SoD I included it.
Anyways, I’m mainly stuck on my order starting with zero year going to JL vol 1. New History had zero year as year two and the DC 40 etc and #181 but I’m stuck on how to make this stuff fit since we have Robin in the villains 1st appearance yet they appear in books before Robin. I know it sounds kind of dumb and useless, but I find it fun.
So I’m asking for your opinions. Should I remove things? If I do should I replace them with a better story or just leave it empty? Also what other stories do you think I’m missing? Any opinions would be awesome!

Recommendations Should I read the Absolute universe issue-by-issue or are the trades okay?

I'm recently getting into comics and felt that the Absolute Universe would be a good jumping on point for DC. I prefer to have something physical to read so I can pace around my house with them in my hand (I have OCD lol). If you recommend issue-by-issue then I could subscribe to the DC app. I just wanted to see what the opinions are.

Of course this is in the release order for either method.

Discussion Finally read the first two Morrison batman omnis, and though it wasn't as bad as I thought it was going to be it was still a chore. [Discussion]

The highlights for me were Damian Wayne, and anytime batman was doing batman stuff, the low points for me were the whole psycho babble BS storylines. One of the reasons I do not like Morrison is because he thinks he is smarter than he is and tries to be too clever and it always feels like it. I just want batman being batman and lots of bat family is that too much to ask? What are your thoughts on this run and what is your favorite run or era of batman?

Video Games [Video Games] I wish DC would jump on the nostalgic 'beat em up' video game trend.

Thumbnail

I love the old comic book beat em up games like DC's 'Death and Return of Superman' and 'Batman Returns' or Marvel's 'X-Men Arcade' and 'Spider-Man Maximum Carnage'.

I'm really happy that this genre has been making a comeback lately with 16 bit inspired licensed titles like Cosmic Invasion, Shredder's Revenge and no He-Man.

I really wish DC would jump on this and make a Justice League inspired Beat em Up, using the aesthetics of Justice League Task Force and the classic 90s costumes. DC games are kind of in a drought at the moment and something like this wouldn't have anywhere near the budget of a AAA game, but would be most appreciated by fans young and old imo.

Recommendations What You Guy's Thought on Tom King?

I read his Supergirl comic (Woman of Tomorrow) before the Supergirl movie came out (I love the comic), but recently I learn he have a rocky reputation in the comic book community.

So my first question to y'all is why is he hated by some, but loved by others? (I'm new to reading comics if you can't tell already.)

And my second question is which one of his comic runs are great because I'm pretty interested in reading more of his work.

Film + TV How would you reimagine Wonder Woman in Justice League Gods and Monsters? [Film/TV]

Post image
8 Upvotes

One issue I have with the Justice League Gods and Monsters movie is the fact that Batman and Superman have their origins connected to the main universe, more specifically the villains but Wonder Woman doesn't

Following the trend of connecting them to villains I'd make it so she is given life by Ares as opposed to Zeus, and in this version Ares is one of the good Olympians who wants to protect the Amazons from the other gods, and Wonder Woman's name would be Alcippe

Over the past week, every time I try to log into the website on my macbook I can't seem to get on. I just get a blank screen. It doesn't matter what browser I use or how I get on the website. The website is just totally down. The phone app works fine, but I prefer to read comics on my computer if I'm able. Has anyone else experienced this issue? Has anyone found a way of solving it?

Synopsis for "The Wizard of Words"

Joker comes up with a great scheme to start pranks across Gotham City by using slang expressions that he carries out in the literal sense of the word. In one of these pranks, Joker sends a letter to Commissioner Gordon, telling him that he is going to "paint the town red". The entire Gotham City Police Department is placed in constant vigilance, but instead of murders and crimes, Joker and his henchmen take some red paint and start smearing it across the city, on the streets and buildings.

Batman deduces that this is all part of Joker's latest criminal master plan and after looking at the pattern of the red paint, Batman deduces Joker's plan. Joker and his gang are already inside one of the banks that was painted red, since the paint was mixed with an acid solution that weakened the walls and allowed the criminals to get inside. The dynamic duo descend to their secret underground hangars and soon they're riding the Batplane on their way to the bank. Upon arriving, they confront the Joker and his gang, but the criminals manage to get away.

The next day, Joker sends another cryptic message, but this time Batman and Robin deduce the clues and Batman goes to an old abandoned building, where a newspaper used to be settled. When Batman enters the building, he is ambushed by Joker and his thugs, who then place the Dark Knight on a giant gyroscope. Joker stops the machine allowing Batman to walk again, but the vigilante is absolutely dizzy and he can't see his opponents. Batman is then forced to walk through a plank over a burning furnace and some spikes. At his current condition, Batman is bound to fall downwards, but at that moment, Robin arrives and takes down some of Joker's men. Batman finally falls to a certain death, but he is rescued by Robin. In the meantime, Joker escapes again.

Later, the duo learn about Joker's next hit and they get ready. Joker breaks into a train and steals a package of money. Once he has claimed his prize, Joker leaves the train and soon he realizes that the Batmobile is following him. Batman leaps towards the Joker and they both fall to the river below. They reach shore and Joker runs towards an army camp, where he steals a barrage balloon. Batman jumps towards the balloon and they start fighting on the top of the flying object. With a great punch, Batman pushes Joker off the balloon towards the water beneath. Minutes later, Batman joins Robin and they stop the chase for Joker,as they believe he couldn't have survived the fall.

Synopsis for "Around the Clock with the Batman"

The City of Gotham are celebrating Batman's crimefighting career and the citizens are all astonished as to how many accomplishments Batman has under his belt.

However, this is just another day for Bruce Wayne and Dick Grayson. After a quick breakfast, some training in the gym and detective work, Bruce continues the ending of his book called "Observations of Crime", which is a documentary of his most notable cases solved as Batman and the psychology behind it all. Despite his many cases, he is still missing one last chapter and he can't think of a good story. Dick suggest that they should go outside and stop some crimes that would help Bruce with the final chapter.

On their way out, they soon find a robbery and they try to stop it but the criminals get away using tear gas. Following the clues, Batman and Robin arrive at an art exhibition, where they find the stolen gems inside some sculptures. The crooks are taken away, but the manager of the exhibition is a frail old man who would like the incident to remain a secret. Batman decides to honor the old man's wishes, and he sacrifices the last story.

Later, Batman and Robin go to perform at a kid's hospital before they learn of an apparent suicide attempt. Batman and Robin arrive at the scene, where a young woman is about to jump off the edge of a building. Using his Batrope across the buildings, Batman saves the girl, but in the meantime a robbery has taken place. Batman suspects that the woman was just a distraction for the criminals to get away. Following the girl to a secret hideout, Batman and Robin take out the whole gang, but when the leader is in prison, he pleads Batman not to tell anyone about it, because the news would be fatal for his mother, who would die if she knew the truth. Once again, Batman decides not to share the case.

Without any story to end his book with, Bruce decides to make the final chapter about a day in the lifes of Batman and Robin and he would call it "Around the Clock with Batman and Robin". After this decision, the duo take a well deserved rest.

Discussion Joker is a product. The writers know it. The fans pretend not to

• Upvotes

The Joker is a very lucrative source of income. That is the only reason he is not killed in the Batman universe. The writers of Batman are not artists; they are capitalists and businessmen

When a writer tries to fight logic with his stupid justifications, he runs into his own inadequacy. The writers themselves know the real reason the Joker survives better than anyone. When they are desperately struggling against a sea of logical readers and have no logical argument left, they use another strategy.

The Batman universe, its use, and its copyright are in their hands. That is their trump card.

They create a universe detached from the main canon and try to convince the audience with fabricated catastrophic events after trampling their own stupid justification of “never kill him.”

Not only non-canon universes—they use this same mechanism in the main storyline too.

Like the fate of Red Hood, which was truly stupid and illogical.

Credit must be given to the Batman writers, because for years they have built a fanbase with illogical reasons and stories that is willing to ignore logic for entertainment.

Enjoying yourself is not bad. Deceiving yourself is

We all know these facts well. You might ask, why am I repeating something already said?

The reason is that these repeated words have many opponents. Radical fans still believe in the "never kill" policy and deceive themselves.

DC comics should not be seen as anything more than a product with illogical justifications

The Graysons' young son, Dick, overhears an incriminating conversation between Blade, the killer, and his employer Boss Zucco. Dick plans to call the police, but Batman, who has attended the show as the millionaire playboy Bruce Wayne, takes in Dick Grayson, instead of immediately pursuing the thugs and also tells Dick that his parents were killed by a criminal too. Batman trains Dick, already an excellent acrobat, how to become a crime-fighter. When a period of training is over, Dick is given a red, green, and yellow costume and adopts the identity of Robin, the Boy Wonder.

Dick debuts as Batman's sidekick, and the Dynamic Duo hunt down the extortion gang, and their leader, Boss Zucco. Zucco's new plan is to demolish a skyscraper construction site (the Canin Building), but Robin and Batman defeat the gang in a dangerous battle on the high girders, during which Robin uses a sling to knock one thug off a steel beam and kicks a second gunman off another girder. Zucco is recorded by Robin in the act of pushing Blade to his death and this evidence is given to the police, leading to Zucco's conviction for murder.
