Legality on bringing a suppressor from CT to Maine through MA
My family has a house up in Maine I visit on occasion. Has anyone ever inquired with the Mass State Police or a lawyer on transporting suppressors through MA. I know possession is illegal in MA. But since suppressors are legal in CT and ME, can one follow FOPA with it locked in the trunk and no stops unless for emergency and legally travel through MA with it. Or is it banned outright no exception even for interstate transport? Thanks!

Braced pistols at Blue trails
Has anybody had any experiences shooting braced pistols at blue trails? I’m looking to sight in one of my firearms at 50 yards, but I’m not sure if they’ll let me shoot a braced pistol from the rifle range. Thanks.

Finally got the Mossberg 590RM Chisel
gallery11.5" barrel with folding stock and 10 round mag. Fits into a backpack when folded! It's threaded for choke/suppressor, are there any other good options besides the Salvo 12 and Victra 12?
Edit: If anyone wants to find one in stock, check this site every day:

If you're lucky you can find them for around $1200 shipped

Selling estate guns at auction
Has anyone used Amoskeag Auction Company in New Hampshire or Connecticut Firearms Auction to sell off a large number of guns from an estate? Nothing rare or super valuable and many have condition issues. Anything to watch out for? Thanks.

CT Store Front Scopes
This weekend I want to hit one or more stores for scopes. Yes plural in regard to scopes. I have two rifles and due to the distances we are forced to put our targets at I need something where I can see the target and the hole at the same time. Switching with binoculars sucks.
I have another profile that since been deleted. I tried to find the old post but zero success. When I asked about this I believe a store with an account in Reddit posted here and commented to come to them. I think it was Yankee but could be wrong. They even talked about helping attach it.
Anyone know for sure? I prefer to keep it a hour from Monroe CT but if they are the better choice I will make the drive past that.

Are Gun Owners Stepping Into an NFA Trap?
youtube.comWilliam Kirk discusses what might happen if or when the administration changes and the NFA is returned to full enforcement.
Summary: Today we circle back on the massive changes to the NFA and how DOJ and the ATF will be enforcing them moving forward. Washington Gun Law President, William Kirk, discusses the doomsday scenario that has many worried, which is they comply with the new ATF guidelines, then there's a change in administrations, and suddenly the NFA is back to full enforcement. Now you are sitting on unregistered NFA items. Can a person be convicted and imprisoned for acts that were done in reliance on ATF guidance? That will depend on the doctrine of "entrapment by estoppel" which will be the focus of today's video. So learn more today and arm yourself with education.
Raley v. Ohio. https://www.oyez.org/cases/1958/175
Cox v. Lousiana. https://www.oyez.org/cases/1964/24
Pennsylvania v. PICCO. https://www.oyez.org/cases/1972/72-624
YouTube AI Summary: In this video (0:00 - 12:50), William Kirk of Washington Gun Law explores a potential "doomsday scenario" for gun owners: complying with current ATF guidance regarding NFA (National Firearms Act) items, only to have that guidance reversed under a future political administration.
Key takeaways include:
- The Potential Trap: If administrative changes are reversed by new leadership (e.g., via new legislation or budget changes), millions of gun owners who relied on current ATF guidance could suddenly be in possession of unregistered NFA items, which are considered felonies under federal law (0:56 - 3:34).
- Entrapment by Estoppel: Kirk explains this as an affirmative legal defense. It applies when a government agent or official provides explicit, misleading assurance that specific conduct is lawful, and a citizen reasonably relies on that advice before being prosecuted for the same act (3:42 - 6:18).
- Legal Precedent: The video references the "holy trinity" of Supreme Court cases that support the doctrine of entrapment by estoppel:
Conclusion: While the threat is real, Kirk argues that the doctrine of entrapment by estoppel would likely provide a strong legal defense, and suggests that any significant policy reversal would almost certainly require a grace or forbearance period to avoid being deemed unconstitutional (9:37 - 10:25).

Fixed mag AOW?
With the recent news, is this set up good to go now with no paper work?
Fixed mag AP5P.
Would not be an SBR due to the brace
Can not SBR it due to OAL/state laws
Would not be an “other” due to sub 26inch OAL
The vertical grip+ brace with sub 26in OAL would classify as an AOW?
No paper work required and still CT compliant? Or is this just wishful thinking? I purchased the grip a while ago and for got it couldn’t be on a pistol and also couldn’t SBR is due to state laws.

Best lightweight, low cost o/u for pheasant
What’s a good over under for a low cost ($500 and under) for a little upland birding? This is my first season, don’t want to go crazy. Held a Stoeger Condor yesterday, good price but heavier than I want. CZ Teal seams good for entry level but a little over $500, any other suggestions?

Why is CT considered an NFA state?
Based on the language of the law, it seems to me that suppressors can be (more than before) freely transferred in Connecticut. Certainly based on the current legal landscape, ct residents are “otherwise permitted” by federal law to possess suppressors if they can pass a 4473 and are a member of the plaintiff organizations.
Law text below
Connecticut General Statues - Title 53a Chapter 952 Section 211
Sec. 53a-211. Possession of a sawed-off shotgun or silencer: Class D felony. (a) A person is guilty of possession of a sawed-off shotgun or a silencer when he owns, controls or possesses any sawed-off shotgun that has a barrel of less than eighteen inches or an overall length of less than twenty-six inches or when he owns, controls or possesses any silencer designed to muffle the noise of a firearm during discharge.
(b) The provisions of this section shall not apply to persons, firms, corporations or museums licensed or otherwise permitted by federal or state law to possess, control or own sawed-off shotguns or silencers.
(c) Possession of a sawed-off shotgun or a silencer is a class D felony.
Maybe I am missing something but to me it seems pretty cut and dry.

Suitability?
If I had a civil restraining order against me (209A) in Massachusetts that was then terminated by the plaintiff would this cause an issue when renewing CT pistol permit?
Or even purchasing weapon now from FFL?
No other issues on background check never been arrested or have a speeding ticket, DUl nothing.

Could someone explain to me how to get a suppressor on a pistol in this state?
Someone at the gun range had one the other day. I believe it was on a 22lr. There seemed to be something between the barrel and the can, so I don’t think it was welded on. What are the options here in CT?

Per a CCDL email blast:
Southwest Region Members… Stratford NEEDS YOU!
Skip the CCDL Membership Meeting this month, we need you to take ACTION!
The Town Council in Stratford has proposed an ordinance banning carry in ALL town properties. Do you shoot in Stratford? Do business? We need YOU to show up to defend the rights of all Connecticut Citizens. Here’s what’s needed.
Show up to the Town Council meeting this Tuesday, 10/13 at Stratford Town Hall room 212 by 5:15PM. Wear CCDL merch, Stratford Guns and Ammo merch, DLD Defense merch, or merch from other 2A brands that you love.

If you ARE a Stratford resident, we need you to speak out at the public hearing, urging the Town Council to vote NO to this ordinance. Join the fight today with CCDL. Carry On!

New CT Firearms Training Company — Pistol Fundamentals November 7 in Lebanon
Hey everyone!
I wanted to introduce myself and our new business, New England Law Enforcement And Civilian Firearms Training (NEFT). www.newenglandfirearmstraining.com
I’m an active-duty Connecticut police officer, department lead firearms instructor, CT POST-certified firearms instructor, red dot pistol instructor, Glock armorer, and SWAT Assistant Team Leader.
My wife and I recently started NEFT because firearms training is something I’m genuinely passionate about. I enjoy shooting, but what I find even more rewarding is helping other people develop their skills, gain confidence, and become proficient shooters.
My goal isn’t just to teach people how to shoot. It’s to help them learn how to shoot well, understand why they’re doing what they’re doing, and build a foundation they can continue improving on for years.
Another aspect of firearms training I’m particularly passionate about is shoot/no-shoot decision-making.
Coming from a law enforcement background, I believe there’s tremendous value in teaching people to think critically about situations where a firearm might be involved. Being able to hit a target is one skill. Recognizing a threat, making sound decisions under pressure, and understanding when not to shoot are equally important.
I enjoy introducing people to these concepts through discussions and decision-making assessments that encourage them to think beyond simply pulling the trigger.
That’s the philosophy behind NEFT: developing safe, capable, knowledgeable, and responsible shooters.
Our first Pistol Fundamentals course is Saturday, November 7, in Lebanon, CT.
The course is $250, all-inclusive, and includes:
8 hours of professional, hands-on firearms instruction
Brand-new Glock 45 Gen 6 pistols equipped with red-dot optics
Approximately 200 rounds of 9mm ammunition
Electronic hearing protection
Eye protection
NEFT training T-shirt
Course completion certificate
Maximum of 10 students for individualized instruction
No firearm or equipment purchase is necessary. Everything listed is included in the $250 registration.
This course is designed for beginners and developing shooters who want to build strong fundamentals and improve their shooting proficiency.
It’s not a Connecticut pistol permit certification course. We’re focused on providing meaningful firearms education and skill development that continues beyond the permit process.
We also have a second class scheduled for Saturday, November 21.
You can learn more about our training and register at:
www.newenglandfirearmstraining.com
I’m happy to answer any questions about our courses, training philosophy, equipment, or what students can expect.
Thanks for reading, and I look forward to connecting with more people in Connecticut’s shooting community!

William Kirk: What Does ATF's Guidance Actually Mean to You?
youtube.comWilliam Kirk, Washington Gun Law, discusses the ATF public notice. Kirk suggests still filing a Form 1 or Form 4 if you reside in one of the 15 states that restrict or ban NFA items.
Well, we finally got some guidance from ATF on the untaxed NFA items, but that has leads to even more questions than it has provided answers. Washington Gun Law President, William Kirk, discusses the open letter from ATF Director, Robert Cekada, as well as the FAQs posted by ATF on their website in an effort to further clarify what this means to lawful and responsible gun owners nationwide, especially depending on what state they reside in. So let's try to get more questions answered today so that you can be armed with education.
Read the letter here. https://www.atf.gov/media/30961/download
Check Out ATF's FAQ here. https://www.atf.gov/firearms/update-to-nfa-transfer-guidance
Youtube AI Summary:
This video, presented by William Kirk of Washington Gun Law, provides guidance regarding the ATF's recent policy update on untaxed NFA (National Firearms Act) items following a court ruling (0:00 - 1:12).
Key takeaways from the guidance include:
- Nationwide Application: The enforcement discretion applies to all lawful gun owners across the country, not just the plaintiffs in the Silencer Shop Foundation case (1:28 - 2:10).
- Changes in Enforcement: The ATF is no longer enforcing specific requirements, such as the need for prior approval to make or transfer NFA items, registering those items within 24 hours, or mandatory marking (2:16 - 3:36).
- Gun Control Act (GCA) Remains: Despite the NFA changes, the Gun Control Act of 1968 still applies. FFLs (Federal Firearms Licensees) must continue to maintain records, use Form 4473, and conduct NICS background checks (4:09 - 5:00).
- State-Specific Warnings: The speaker emphasizes that in 15 specific states with local NFA compliance laws, residents should proceed with extreme caution and consult local counsel, as their state laws may still mandate registration or other requirements (5:16 - 8:31, 9:28).
- Risk of Reversal: There is a significant "doomsday scenario" where a shift in political leadership or a change in court rulings could lead to the reversal of these guidelines, potentially making currently unregistered items contraband subject to felony penalties (11:51 - 13:46).

Sbr in ct
So I’m sure this question has been asked a million times today I noticed a local ffl selling a honey badger sbr now what other models should we expect to see ffls selling
So… how do we stop what’s probably coming?
Ok so the first response to this will probably be “vote our one-sided legislature out, but I honestly don’t have much confidence in that.
Now onto my question: let’s assume that SCOTUS overturns the AW ban like we’re all hoping, but let’s say the outcome of the election in November does not include a change in governor and AG… if the ruling comes out in June of next year, what’s the stop them from pulling a “New York” and putting in a workaround law that’s just as bad or worse to stop us from owning or purchasing AR’s or whatever else is on their stupid list? Is the only thing that will stop this leadership without the appetite to skirt the Supreme Court?

Amnesty AW config legality
Im watching the news carefully on the recent ATF movements and it dredged up a though (or nightmare)…
A bit of a blast from the past question here. I spent an hour trolling threads and have yet to find a clear answer.
I had a handful of CT legal AR platform “other” builds (12”+ barrels, VFGs, braced stocks) that I registered as SBRs under the pistol brace amnesty debacle in 2023.
I received my ATF (non)Stamp and then registered them with state as an assault weapon within the registration period.
3 years later I have yet to receive a AW certificate response from the SFLU (but I do have the registration emails), so I’m comfortably legal as I understand the laws today.
My question now is, under these conditions, what is my flexibility of the weapon config? My interpretation is these weapons are now basically “registered SBRs” federally, and a “preban assault weapons” in the eyes of the state.
So now, no VFG required, I can stock it properly, and I can change upper/barrel calibers and length with modularity as long as I can fall back to the registered Federal configuration… as a state “approved AW” these are basically ONLY federally regulated. (And those are NOW NOT federally regulated - so quite the wild circularly legal scenario).
Would that be an accurate assumption?
I’m sure this is asked to death I wish my search skills could find a more clear interpretation.
