Dating Lust in relationships

Idk what to flair this so I just went with dating lol

Long story short, I recently had a medical event that my boyfriend had to take leave from work for to support me and we were staying at his house, it was late at night and i wanted to search something on reddit for advice, my phone was charging on the floor and him and i have an open phone policy and have eachothers passwords so I used his phone to search my question

When I opened reddit, I saw two recent searches, one was basically asking how to dump someone for no reason, and the other was that he loved me but lusted for sexier women. His words

I immediately woke him up to ask him about it, I gave him an opportunity to be honest and said that it was okay if he was thinking about breaking up and I just wanted to talk about it. He assured me those searches were not recent, which I dont believe as it was on his porn account and i think he uses it pretty often.

He told me that he loved me and that he was all in our relationship, we have been planning for our future together and he said he couldn’t imagine his life without me etc.

I do believe that, and I know he loves me, but this is his first serious relationship, we are both early-mid twenties and I have been burned before so my walls are definitely up

Im trying to move past it but I am really struggling because I just dont trust him anymore, we go out and im watching to see if hes looking at other women, i dont want to go near his phone because im scared of what I will see/find.

We are very sexually active and he always talks about how great our sex life is, its so hard for me to comprehend that he is drawn to other women because he has grown up around men who have all had long term girlfriends/wives, and i love him so much and i dont feel this way towards other men at all

I feel insecure and unworthy and like there is something wrong with me, like im not good enough for him. I feel like this might be something that cant be fixed but I dont want to accept that, I love him more than anyone and this is the best relationship I have ever been in

I also feel guilty bringing it up to him because i know he feels bad, he has apologised many times and said he hates that hes made me feel this way

So I guess I am just posting this for advice, if any of you have experienced something like this from the male side, is there any way to fix this or am i prolonging the inevitable here

Dating I’m not doing enough

21F] with [19M] — I’m not doing enough
I have two children, both under the age of five, and my boyfriend works while I’m a stay-at-home mom. We currently live with his parents.
I recently found out that I have ovarian cysts and endometriosis. I’ve been in a lot of pain, and lately, I haven’t been keeping up with household chores like dishes, laundry, and cleaning while he’s at work.
I understand that he wants things done around the house, and I know I can have mood swings and sometimes act rude toward him. I’m not saying I’m perfect, and I know my behavior can affect our relationship.
However, I feel like he doesn’t fully consider how I’m feeling or what I’m going through physically. I’ve tried asking him to look into the side effects of my conditions, but I feel like he dismisses my pain because I experience it so often. I’ve even stopped telling him when I’m hurting because I feel like he doesn’t take it seriously.
He can also be sarcastic and say things that hurt my feelings. I understand that being responsible for the household can be frustrating, but I feel like I’m struggling physically and emotionally, and I don’t feel supported.
I spend my days taking care of two young children, which is a responsibility in itself, even when I’m not able to get other things done. I want to do my part, but I also wish he would try to understand my situation instead of focusing only on what I haven’t done.
Am I wrong for not keeping up with the housework right now? Am I being unfair to him, or is it reasonable for me to expect more understanding and support while dealing with these health issues?TL;DR: I’m a stay-at-home mom of two young children, and I’ve recently been diagnosed with ovarian cysts and endometriosis. I’ve been in a lot of pain and haven’t been able to keep up with housework. My boyfriend seems to dismiss my pain and gets upset about chores not being done. I know I can have mood swings and sometimes act rudely, but I feel unsupported. Am I wrong for struggling to keep up with housework while dealing with my health issues?

Sooo I was here a few days ago asking for help bc I caught my husband of 9 years sharing nude photos of me without my consent and I ended up having to delete my account. But I’m back and the story only gets crazier! He is adamant that this was the first time blah blah. I’m getting mad bc I don’t believe him. But he sticks to his story. I’m not having it so I’m reaching not even sure what I’m looking for but I come across a website that you can put a username into and it will show you all the sites that username is currently using. I’m like okay maybe I’ll try his tik tok username maybe I’ll get a couple hits. Within maybe 10 seconds 500 hits !!!! And I’m dying ! I do what girls do best go straight for the sexual ones figure out the log in and password and here we go for a ride ! Dating Am I being cheap for not wanting to spend as much money on my girlfriend?

Me and my girlfriend have been together for 5+ years and have been living together for the last 6 months.

I pay all of the rent, bills, groceries, and regularly buy her takeaways. She says that she should only pay for things when she wants to and gets offended when I ask her to pay for things.

She didn't have a job for the last few months and wasn't looking for one either. She went on 2 holidays without me in this time. Her money ran out a few weeks ago so she's got a job now. I paid for her work clothes and shoes for her interviews

Now that she's got a job, I was hoping that she'd start paying her own way, but she's now asking me for more money (£10) to pay for some work expenses. She has the money but doesn't want to spend it and has also said that she won't pay me back for it. I know it's only a tenner but I was really hoping that she'd start paying for more things now she's got a job.

Am I being unreasonable here by not wanting to give her £10 on top of all the other stuff? I was looking at my finances and I've gone from saving £600+ each paycheque to not saving anything since we moved in together.

Friendship Why do guy friends act differently in text, irl, and in group settings?

• Upvotes

I’m a girl and me and my friends have noticed one of our guy friend that acts insanely different in text, irl, and in group settings.

He’ll be pretty chill over text during the day, acts super super sweet at 1-2AM, is a pretty caring guy to be around in real life (one on one or small group), but when it’s a mixed gender group, there’s a complete switch up and ignores us, is dismissive, or just has a different vibe.

Why is that?

Love Male brain

• Upvotes

so my boyfriend and I have been together for three years I’m very anxious attachment and he is very avoidant attachment, so I know that this man loves me, but he’s not one with words and I like reassurance. I guess my question is it like how does the male brain work versus like my female brain I like reassurance I like to talk about things I like affection but then I guess because my past I’ve been cheated on so many times I have trust issues like even though this man consistently shows up for me since he doesn’t tell me how he feels 24/7 or wants to day dream about the future with me it makes me a little insecure and it does hurt my relationship a little bit so I’m thinking maybe if I understood the male brain a little bit more when it comes to relationships it could help me understand more from his point of view versus like these men that have cheated on me in my past I just feel like no man actually is capable of loving a woman if that makes sense

Infidelity Gf agrees to hangout with former crush she had a year ago. NSFW

• Upvotes

So I found out my gf had a crush on her former coworker last year. We weren't dating back then. They went on two dates. He rejected her and she was upset and said via text "working meant more to me than you probably realized."

Now 10 months later they reconnected and had a friendly chit chat back and forth via text. Not any flirting but she sends long detailed paragraphs. Her and I have been dating for months at this point. The former coworker then asked her in the text message "we should hangout sometime if you want". Her response was "i would like to do that for sure 👌 ".

Then a couple of messages later, she mentions me (her bf) and about our upcoming vacation next week. Did she set a boundary by mentioning me and our vacation to let him know that their hangout is strictly platonic? Should I be worried? I have a feeling this guy may have 2nd thoughts and trying to make a move on her.

Dating Men, how does your behavior change toward a woman as your feelings for her deepen or the relationship becomes more established?

• Upvotes

I'm genuinely curious to hear about men's personal experiences with this, especially from those who consider themselves emotionally reserved, fiercely independent, or avoidantly attached. Your perspectives are particularly welcome!

When you really, genuinely like a woman, how does that show up in your behavior? Do you naturally become more attentive, affectionate, communicative, and eager to spend time with her? Or have you experienced situations where your feelings were much stronger than your outward behavior suggested?

I'm also interested in what happens once the initial excitement and pursuit settle down.

Have you ever become noticeably less affectionate, attentive, or communicative toward a woman while still feeling just as strongly about her? Or have you experienced that same shift in behavior because your feelings genuinely started fading?

If you've experienced both, what was different for you internally? Did your behavior look similar on the outside even though your feelings were completely different?

And for men who consider themselves avoidant, emotionally guarded, or highly independent, I'd especially appreciate your perspective. Have you ever found yourself pulling away from someone even as your feelings for her were growing stronger? If so, what was going on for you emotionally?

I'm interested in the distinction between becoming comfortable and secure enough to stop actively pursuing or impressing someone, needing distance despite strong feelings, and genuinely losing romantic interest.

No judgment, and no right or wrong answers. I'm not asking for advice about a specific relationship or for anyone to speak on behalf of all men. I'm interested in your own experiences, including the ones that might seem contradictory from the outside.

I'd really appreciate thoughtful, candid answers.

Love How to deal with stressed withdrawn partner?

• Upvotes

My partner recently went through a massive restructuring at his job, where mass layoffs happened and he was left with only one team member and an increased workload, in addition to lots of travel and pre-committed-to social commitments. As a result, I noticed his way of coping was to withdraw and get into a mentality of just handling it on his own. I know that his preferred coping style is to retreat into his cave until things start to get better. I’m trying to respect his boundaries by giving him space, but we at this point, we are at 1 full month of greatly decreased communication and only seeing each other once a week or less. I’ve made a point over the last week to initiate conversations and organize a date for us to spend time together, but it felt clear that if I hadn’t been the one to initiate, he would not have done so himself. For any man here who have similar coping mechanisms under extreme stress, would you prefer if you are partner continued to gently pursue dates in the midst of an extremely busy period in your life? Or would you rather they give you space until you can get your head above water?

Love What does it mean?

• Upvotes

During intimacy, he told me “it’s real” and I’m not too sure what he meant? We’re supposed to be best friends but I caught feelings way too fast and I’m afraid I ruined the relationship we could’ve had. I’m super sad about it but what does him saying that mean to you guys? I think I talk too much but I talk about the truth and what hurts me. I fear I lost my best friend but, yea.

Love Dating someone's with weird nose

• Upvotes

This may be a weird thing to ask, but are men completely turned off by weird noses? I (25f) have always had a bigger nose(not huge but not the little petite noses). I needed a septoplasty due to a previous injury and messed up the septum. Due to that, I have a mild saddle deformity, which isn't huge but is definitely noticeable. It makes my bridge look wider, and the middle of my nose looks like it's a bit flat. It looks like I have a weird slope, and one side looks slightly puffier because it's mainly one side that saddled. It has ruined my confidence, and revising isn't an option because insurance won't cover it, and the surgeon estimated a 21k revision with no insurance. I had just started wanting to date again, and then this all happened, and now I feel embarrassed about it and wanted to see if this type of thing would deter you from dating someone.

Love I feel utterly disturbed and confused with my boyfriend

• Upvotes

I’ve been with my boyfriend for about 5 years I’m (29) he’s (31) we have a daughter together she’s 3. Besides the point but just wanted to give a little background.
I’m beginning to feel over the course of a few years that I’m reaching a point where I no longer understand him. I don’t think I ever did. I tried and I’ve tried and somehow he never fails to let me know how badly I suck as a girlfriend. He works nights 3pm-5am I stay up all night and basically I’m on the same schedule as him. I stay home all day I cook I clean I take care of our daughter and I don’t leave the house or go anywhere I feel like I’ve coerced myself into believing this is normal behavior he never outright tells me I have to do any of these things but if I don’t there’s a shift in energy and stonewalling and coldness from him. He tells me I don’t reassure him and my problem is I feel I do I’ve tried all different ways and nothing seems to work it makes me feel like 1. Either I’m getting reassurance wrong or 2. He doesn’t even know what reassurance really is or 3. He’s a self loathing energy sucking vampire.
For example: I have no social media because he didn’t feel comfortable with me having it because before we met I was a dancer and it made him feel uncomfortable and insecure so I deleted it immediately. He kept his. I also told him he’d never have to worry about me ever cheating or stepping out of our relationship because I’m so in love with him. He ignored me and just said I don’t believe you or responds sure.
Another instance was super recent he asked why we have had sexual occurrences as often. I told him I think it’s hormonal related I’m just not horny or thinking about sex all day. I still am super attracted to you I think your hot as hell and I’m definitely not cheating I think I’m just constantly on mom mode and I’m by myself all day and I don’t do anything but look at the 4 walls of the house all day 6 days a week I feel insane and just low libido I guess I’m not sure. But I did say that I do feel a desire when he touches me at night after our baby is asleep and we have time to act on it. I also told him that I don’t like that the pressure is always on me if you feel the need for sex then act on it I’ll never deny you (I never have) I just don’t like that I have to be the one to wait up till the baby goes to sleep I turn around and he’s snoring but I have to go under the sheets to get him hard but nobody’s putting me in the mood I just have it in my head either I do this or my husband is miserable and may cheat not really because I’m horny and want him and he’s failing to understand that part. He says I’m supposed to be horny for him all day that’s what a girlfriend who’s obsessed with her boyfriend is supposed to be like. Idk I feel like I’m going insane.

Love How Can I Stop Overthinking After Being Betrayed? (29F, 22M, 6 Years Together)

I’m 29F, and my boyfriend is 22M. We’ve been together for 6 years. We’ve struggled with trust issues and intimacy for years. Recently, I discovered something that deeply hurt me and changed how I see our relationship. I keep replaying things in my mind, and it’s affecting my sleep and peace of mind. I still have feelings for him, but I’m emotionally exhausted. How can I manage these thoughts and focus on healing?
TL;DR: I’m 29F in a 6-year relationship with a 22M. Recent relationship problems have left me emotionally exhausted and struggling with overthinking. How can I heal?

Dating Do you compare your partner’s body to the previous ones?

hey, 22f here and unfortunately I don’t have very good body genetics (regarding modern beauty standards) despite working out. No wide hips, no big thighs, no tiny waist…
So I was wondering, if you have a new partner with a not-so-ideal body, and you’re being intimate, do you compare it to your exes in your head? I really have been overthinking a lot recently.

Dating Is this celebrity crush too far?

So my girlfriend has this little crush on a celebrity by the name of Jon Bernthal. Well not quite little, she is obsessed with him. He is a good actor in my opinion and celebrity crushes are okay in a relationship I guess, but this might be too far, let me tell you something.

So like I said she and her friend are obsessed with him, sharing like a million edits with eachother and talking about how hot he is. And for some reason she shares all of their dm's with me, like purposefully making me jealous.

I dont remember everything they have said in those dm's, but some things have sticked out. Like once her friend said "I need backshots from him" and she replied "so real" and then showed that to me. And they have created their own quote which goes "Pick me up and fuck me up". And once when she was in a theathre watching a movie where he was, she took a snap of a scene where he was and put text to it that went "DADDY🤤🤤" or something.

Like tf? Dont you want me, your boyfriend? And why would you send me that kinda snap? Almost like she wants me to feel jealous. And she always says that her celebrity crushes are nothing serious and just thinks that they are hot. Well it doesnt sound like that does it? Im an overthinking guy and this has been bothering me for quite some time now, and it has made me jealous and hurt my feelings. Like everytime she mentions her and her friends dm's about Jon Bernthal I just lose my mood.

Am I over reacting? Should I tell her my feelings about this or just leave it be? I have tried to make some signs that I dont like her being this obsessed, but it doesnt seem to work. I dont know what to do so Im asking you guys for help. And sorry for this being so long, I tried to give all the crucial information at once. Please answer

Dating Is it normal to feel disgusted by female genitalia ?

I don’t think I am gay. And I don’t want to be rude to women here. But recently I did realize that pussy was just terrible, it’s not really esthetic, and the in depth anatomy of it sounds disgusting a bit like it’s a literal insect with all the parts, also, I am a circumcised guy so I don’t worry about this that much for myself but apparently even without having foreskin women can get smegma inside their pussy if they don’t wash for some time, that absolutely grossed me out.

But technically I would be straight, so I wonder if that’s normal to find genuine disgust for the female genitalia to the point of being grossed out by attractive women or if I am just a weird guy.

Love any advice pls, feel like i’m losing it

Hi, be prepared for a big train of thought and text/mixed up writing as i am currently just calming down from a panic attack. I ‘25F’have been dating my partner ‘28M’ for 5 years. over the past few months it has been rough as he is going through a financial issues, like a lot of financial issues. he still lives with his mom, which is completely okay, and he and his family pay for rent together. For context, my background is upper middle

class, and i have never, ever once put that on him, or said that i expected “extravagant things” from him. i get we come from completely different financial backgrounds.

Last winter I was dealing with some pretty bad depression, and was not out of the house as often as I should have been. he felt neglected that way, and still came to see me after his work and after my lectures (i am currently getting my masters). I can see that this put a strain on the relationship, and i take full responsibility for that. this past summer, he gave me a script to help out with getting sales for his lawn maintenance business. I tried multiple times, but no bites, which i felt badly about as i really wanted to help out. (all of this is necessary for background context.

We have been having pretty bad fights, for the past few months, with him calling me lazy, a cunt, and that i’ve had everything handed to me and that i would never get how it is hard for him. the thing is, i do get how it is hard, he is in debt, like a lot of debt. He said i wasn’t helping him win, as I didn’t get sales, and that it was so easy to get sales.

Flash forward to today, i took an uber/bus to see him after my placement. he got back home from work super late, so i just did some of his laundry from his room (it’s really messy, but i don’t mind helping out even if it’s a little bit). When he got home, i knew that he immediately had to go somewhere else that was about an hour away, and that i wanted to go with him as well, but the thing is , tomorow is a family members graduation, and i needed to be up early. so i said i may need to uber home, and jokingly said maybe he cld drive me home and we can take a shower together before he headed out. (this was the wrong thing to say). after about five minutes, he got up and said “why am i even waiting for you to get the uber? just call it already!” so i did call it. then, while i was outside waiting, he implied that i should have come with him, and that he always would do small sacrifices like staying up late for me (he has, to be frank, in the past, which i always told him i was greatful for). i offered to cancel the uber, and he said no don’t wait your money. i then got home, and we called, and it was an hour of him yelling at me over the phone, saying how he needs someone to help him win, and i can’t do that. and he broke down crying saying how he is so stressed, and i said i understand, and he said that he can’t be in a relationship right now. he also was calling me a bunch of rude names that i really don’t want to repeat. i cried obviously, but the thing is, in the past he had done this but then we would get back together after. i don’t know, i feel like i am going insane. i really love this person. i don’t know if this is necessary to say, but i am neurodivergent as well.

EDIT:

just wanted to say thank you everyone who has said kind words or just in general advice. it means a lot to hear that i’m not crazy to think that this behavior is not normal

Friendship Should I [21F] still be friends with [23M] after he rejected me despite us making out and him still wanting to be friends after?

I 21F had met 23M 8 months ago at the Uni gym for the first time. We started messaging everyday and he would initiate hang outs, by inviting me to go skating with him and paying for our skates, lunch at his residence cafeteria, and working out with him. At the end of the semester right before he left to go back to his home country for summer, he invited me to the movie theatre with him. I jokingly ask over text if I could use his arm as a pillow. And somehow we ended up full on spooning in the recliner chairs at movie theatre. He even asked to put his hands under my bra. So I thought he liked me but was going back to his home country anyways. We did flirted over text as penpals but overall still friends.

In June after our fight over something, I ask him to be honest so I don't waste my time. He said he rejects me as he wants kids and I don't, but doesn't mind keeping it casual. I said I don't do casual. but later on in July, he would breadcrumb me by sending me a meme photo of cats cuddling while watching a movie, asking "could this be us?" with pleading emoji. I said, but you wanted to keep it casual. He said that he was thinking of bringing me gifts from his home country in sept when he gets back, but doesn't think it's appropriate because I wouldn't do bf/gf experience.

When he got back, he brought me special gifts from his home country for me. We even went to the movies again, where we spooned again with heavy petting and our legs intertwined. Then last week, his roommate was gone for a week, so twice he invited me over to his dorm where he took his shirt of and we "watched" a movie, but the whole time we cuddled in his bed, sat on his lap, laid on top of him, made out for the first time.

Then the next day, I didn't feel well after that and he apologize for things progressing and how he just wants to be friends instead and keep things platonic. He also told me, how throughout the summer he never even wanted anything more but how I kept on thinking that this whole entire time.

I've been in such agonizing emotional pain to the point of almost taking myself to the crisis centre as I've literally spent the past 8 months, especially summer wasting my time, and thinking that this could potentially turn into something more. I've been so delusional over this guy and it just hurts to have memory of me wrapped up in his arm and cuddling with him, just for it to not mean anything and for him to have the ability to flip the switch to platonic after.

From a man’s perspective on this, If you were in this situation where they reject you but still desire to be your friend, would you still keep the connection and be friends with them, or is this something that should be cut out of my life?

Infidelity Men who have rebuilt trust after breaking an agreed relationship boundary: what changed beyond the initial remorse? NSFW

TL;DR: My boyfriend of 6.5 years spent four months seeking out sexualized Instagram content despite a boundary we’d explicitly agreed on, then initially lied about masturbating to it. He now acknowledges the betrayal and has started therapy, but three years of unresolved intimacy issues add another layer. Marriage plans are paused, and we’re taking space while still occasionally seeing each other. I love him but don’t know whether I want the relationship anymore - or whether I’d regret leaving without trying to rebuild trust.

About two months ago, I discovered that my boyfriend had been repeatedly seeking out sexualized Instagram accounts, including OF creators, over approximately four months. He eventually admitted that some visits were for arousal and that he sometimes masturbated to the content.

This crossed an agreement we had already made. He has acknowledged responsibility since the confrontation, but I’m struggling to decide whether I want to attempt reconciliation.

The boundary and discovery

About five years ago, early in our relationship, something similar happened on a much smaller scale. We discussed it, and he agreed not to do it again. I understood that to be an established boundary.

His Instagram was logged in on my phone with his knowledge because he occasionally used it when we were together. He goes through phases of downloading and deleting the app depending on how much time he feels he’s spending on it. One evening, he asked me to search for a friend through his account, and I noticed a sexualized account in his recent searches.

I initially brushed it off. When I checked later, the searches had been cleared. Over the following weeks, I found further activity showing repeated visits to similar profiles.

When I confronted him, he initially minimized it with explanations like enjoying someone’s travel content or imagining me wearing their outfits. We talked for hours, and I eventually became overwhelmed, yelled, and left.

He later acknowledged the sexual nature of the behavior. He said suggestive content would appear while scrolling and he would give in and explore the profiles. He described some visits as curiosity and others as driven by attraction and arousal. His explanation was that it had become “a dopamine loop” he turned to when stressed or bored.

The truth also came out gradually. When I directly asked whether he had masturbated to the content, he initially said no. Almost a month later, he admitted that he had. He has since acknowledged that the denial was a choice. This added another layer to the breach of trust because even after the confrontation, I wasn’t immediately given the full picture.

What hurts most is that he admitted remembering our earlier agreement and knowing that finding out would hurt me, but continuing anyway.

Based on what I saw and what he told me, I found no evidence of messaging, paid subscriptions, likes, comments, saved posts, or other direct engagement. Those forms of interaction would have made leaving a clear decision for me. Their absence matters to how I’m weighing this, but it doesn’t erase the boundary he knowingly crossed.

This happened while we were seeing each other frequently, buying a house, and discussing marriage. I felt deeply connected and secure, which is part of why the discovery has made me question my understanding of the relationship. His explanation about stress also leaves me worried about how he would handle future difficulties.

An unresolved intimacy issue adds another layer

Our LDR ended three years ago, but we have never successfully had penetrative sex during the relationship because he loses his erection when we try. We have other forms of intimacy, he is attentive to my pleasure, and I have felt satisfied in those ways.

Over those three years, I repeatedly raised getting the ED medically evaluated, but he didn’t follow through. I didn’t want to shame or pressure him, but I wanted us to address it.

I am not able to tell whether the Instagram behavior and erection difficulties are connected. It hurts that an issue affecting our shared intimacy remained unresolved while he privately pursued this sexual outlet.

His response since

Despite the initial minimization and later admission of lying, he now acknowledges crossing our boundary and considers what he did cheating. He has engaged in difficult conversations and listened to my hurt. He hasn’t called me crazy or insecure, pressured me to accept it, or told me I’m overreacting. He deleted Instagram and independently started therapy.

Outside of this, I have experienced him as a loving, supportive partner. Before the discovery, his desire for commitment had never been in question. He consistently wanted engagement and marriage and brought it up more than I did.

However, during one of our conversations after the confrontation, he said he wasn’t asking me to wait and since he caused the hurt and doesn’t feel entitled to reach out or assume I want him around. He wants contact to happen on my terms.

Where we are now

Engagement and marriage plans are paused. Privately, I guess we consider ourselves broken up and are taking space, but we still see each other occasionally - sometimes for logistics because our lives are intertwined, and sometimes because we want to spend time together.

I have not given him a list of repair steps since I want to see what responsibility he takes independently rather than feel like I’m managing the process.

I’m less overwhelmed than I was initially, but I’m still hurt and stuck. I mentally revisit old memories, question things I previously felt secure about, compare myself to those women, and scan where his attention goes when we’re together. It’s exhausting. I know I can't police his eyes for the rest of our lives.

I’m grieving the security I used to feel, but I’m also unsure whether I even want the relationship anymore. I still love him and miss spending time with him, yet that doesn’t necessarily mean I want to rebuild a future together.

At the same time, I worry I might regret leaving without giving repair a chance. I believe the loving, supportive qualities I experienced in him were real, and I’m struggling to reconcile those with his repeated choice to cross this boundary. I don’t want to minimize what happened because of his good qualities, but I don’t want to dismiss those qualities either.

His willingness to work on himself matters, but I don’t know whether my own desire to continue is still there - or whether fear of regretting a breakup is making it harder to let go.

Being unmarried also weighs on me. If we were already married, I imagine I might feel more inclined to attempt repair before leaving. Right now, I’m deciding whether I still want to make that commitment at all.

Additional context

  • We’re both Indian. Cultural and family expectations mean we don’t live together, stay overnight, or travel together. We have opportunities for intimacy, but limited private time.
  • He recently bought a house and insisted on adding me to the title even though I hadn’t contributed financially. This illustrates how serious our future felt and how intertwined our lives are. It doesn’t cancel out what happened or obligate me to stay.
  • He has stood up for me during difficulties with his family and expressed willingness to limit or end contact if necessary to protect our relationship. I’m struggling to reconcile that commitment with the secrecy in this area.
  • I would have been open to an honest conversation about sexual frustration or unmet needs and discussing mutually acceptable outlets. Instead, he acted privately despite our existing agreement.

The perspective I’m looking for

I’m particularly interested in hearing from men who have crossed a partner’s boundary, worked through similar behavior, or rebuilt trust in a long-term relationship.

I understand that couples have different agreements about sexual content. My question is about knowingly breaking an existing agreement and initially lying afterward.

  • If you’ve done something similar, what helped you change beyond feeling guilty or afraid of losing your partner?
  • What did taking responsibility look like without your partner managing the process?
  • How did you respect a partner’s need for space while still showing initiative?
  • If you described your behavior as a response to stress or boredom, what did you actually change about how you handled those feelings?
  • What would you encourage me to look for before deciding whether to attempt reconciliation?

I’m open to honest perspectives, including that leaving may be healthier.

Note: I used AI to help organize my thoughts because there’s a lot of context and I’ve been struggling to explain it clearly. This is my actual experience, and the questions are my own.

Breakup Ex told me he’s conflicted then pulled away again. Is this breadcrumbing or does it mean more?

Long term relationship. He cheated (both to blame here since I guess I had emotionally been distant), we’ve been broken up for 4 months and he’s allegedly still seeing the girl he cheated with.

Last week my ex ended up seeing a really hot picture I had posted (not sure how since blocked on socials) and reached out after a month or so of full no contact (that he forced to have, we had some loose ends so contact was very low before this).

We end up having a 5 hour long phone call just catching up really, the whole vibe felt warm and fuzzy and nostalgic I guess. I could tell he kind of missed me and our connection. We end up talking for the next 4 days, and during this time he mentions twice that he’s feeling conflicted but wouldn’t disclose anything else other than “conflicted”. Obviously I assume about me.

We even end up meeting for coffee and potentially planning to go to a concert a few days later. The next day he doesn’t talk to me and then he kind of fell off and has been really distant with very short communication every couple days. I have asked him if he has resolved whatever he was “conflicted” about and he said no and when I asked why he said he just kicked it down the line.

I guess I’m not sure if he is breadcrumbing me, or if he really is conflicted and since he’s an avoidant this is how he acts. I’ve stopped reaching out but part of me wanted him to at least attempt to come back and at least show me he is remorseful. Just not sure what to think of the whole thing.

Dating Is he pulling away?

I (F28) have been talking to this guy (M30) for a month and he had been texting me at least twice a day consistently and then after our fourth hangout he didn’t text for a day and then reached out asking about me and didn’t respond back till like 20 hours later but it was a warm and thoughtful response. He’s texted me significantly slower than he did before and i won’t see him for another two weeks cause he’s going out of town. He texts with same energy just slower i don’t know what that means. Should i just continue talking because im considering just leaving him on read if he’s creating distance.
