Reminder: No Survey Questions

Hey everyone! I just wanted to take a moment to remind you all that this subreddit is answers-based—it’s meant to provide clear, informative responses that someone could find useful while searching for answers on Google or other search engines. Lately, I’ve noticed an uptick in survey-style questions (e.g., “What’s your favorite __?” or “How many of you __?”).

These types of questions are not a good fit for the purpose of this community. They don’t create content that is useful for others to search for, and often lead to broad discussions that aren’t about providing a clear answer. As a result, I’ve been removing posts that violate this rule to maintain the quality and focus of the subreddit. Even if that post has a lot of replies as the OP obviously didn’t read the rules before posting, or cared.

If you’re unsure if your post fits, ask yourself: Would this question result in a useful answer for someone looking for a specific answer or information online? If not, it’s likely more of a survey question and violates rule 2.

Thanks for understanding and helping to keep the subreddit on track! 😊

What type of menstrual hygiene products do I stock?

Living on my own I have a question, I want to have a supply of some sort of menstrual hygiene products for those who have the need. I have friends and my mom comes over some time, and although I know many typically carry it when they need, life sometimes comes unexpectedly.

Are tampons or pads the better choice, and what type do i get if i get them? I’d preferably like just 1 type of item, as I don’t need a stockpile but rather just an emergency supply if the need ever came.

Why??? Why don’t we all take a breath from the extreme societal issues, and remember that if you fart on wood, like a door perhaps, it will sound louder. You’re welcome??

Answered Which adjectives would you use to describe a parent who chooses to use a wrap to swaddle their baby to their chest?

My coworker just said parents that use those are LAZY!

I think they're the opposite of that.

Answered Is it considered rude to ask about a cultural practice you noticed?

I was at a small gathering the other day and noticed something that seemed like a cultural custom, but I had no idea what it meant or how to ask about it without coming off as weird. I just kind of nodded along and stayed quiet, but now I'm curious whether there's a normal way to ask about things like that without making anyone uncomfortable. Does anyone have a good approach for this kind of situation?

Why did my stove explode?(pics in comments)

I was using the oven I started it to pre heat and it sounded like it exploded and there was a lot of smoke coming out of it I really don’t know what happened but from what I can see it seems like a piece from the top part where the broiler is missing . Do I have to get a new stove or is this fixable?

Answered anyone know if window ac units can be left in through winter or if i should take it out?

i just moved into a rental and the previous tenant left a window ac unit. the place is older so im not sure if the windows seal well without it. at the same time i dont want to risk freezing pipes or damaging the unit once it gets cold. does anyone have experience with this? is it better to remove it and store it or just leave it covered for now?

Phone works everywhere in the apartment except one specific corner of the kitchen. No service, calls drop. Same phone same carrier as before. What causes a spot to have no service? Would love a straight take from someone who knows.

Answered What could that weird smell be in a local gym?

I keep catching this strange odor every time I go to work out at my neighborhood gym. It is not quite sweat or cleaning supplies, more like a warm, sweetish note that shows up near the stretching area. I have tried sniffing around the mats and even asked a staff member, but they do not seem to notice it. I am trying to decide whether it is coming from the floor coating, the vents, or something people bring in. Has anyone run into something similar and figured out the source?
