Question Does anyone actually think that we shouldn’t sign Arraez? I think they’d be insane to even consider letting him go.

News [Gelb, Varnes] Phillies expected to name Don Mattingly as full-time manager this week: Sources
The Philadelphia Phillies are expected to name Don Mattingly as their full-time manager, with the decision formalized sometime this week, according to several league and team sources who spoke on the condition of anonymity to discuss moves that haven’t been announced.
Mattingly, who led the team to a 79-55 record after assuming managerial duties in late April, had his interim tag expire almost two weeks ago when the Phillies were eliminated by the Atlanta Braves in the Wild Card Series. He was under contract for the 2027 season as bench coach. Hiring Mattingly as manager marks a doubling down on the Phillies’ current vision after a near-historic September collapse and another postseason gone wrong.
It’s also a vote for familiarity; Mattingly is one of several recent prominent hires in which the Phillies have looked inward rather than conducting an external search. With an owner-imposed MLB work stoppage expected to begin Dec. 2, Mattingly at least knows the players after serving as the interim boss.
Now, after retaining Mattingly, the Phillies can focus on other priorities as they begin an unusual offseason.

Article CEO of PGW in Apparent Violation of State Ethics Laws for Not Disclosing Value of Gifts from the Phillies (Susan Phillips, WHYY)
Seth Shapiro, CEO of Philadelphia Gas Works, did not report the value of gifted trips to Phillies Spring Training in Clearwater, FL between 2022-2025, in violation of PA State Ethics Laws.
PGW, a city-owned utility, spent more than $1 million in advertising with the Phillies in that time period. Seth Shapiro is paid $500K/year, not including annual bonuses. PGW raised gas rates by 6.5% last year.

Article [Varnes]: Five more questions the Phillies must answer this offseason
How can they best build a bridge to Jhoan Duran?
President of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski took a big swing in signing Brad Keller to a two-year, $22 million contract last winter. Keller was expected to be a setup man for Jhoan Duran. Instead, his performance worsened, and he underwent Tommy John surgery in July.
The Phillies’ dearth of trusted relievers was part of their downfall during the stretch run and in the Wild Card Series. They must re-evaluate the whole bullpen this offseason and how they plan to get the ball to Duran. It would make sense for Alex McFarlane, who broke out as a rookie in the final months of the season, to play a role. Jonathan Bowlan, who proved less durable during the stretch run, will likely factor into this group as well. But the Phillies need to do more to build around these relievers.
Making a trade or looking at the premier end of the free-agent market are likely the Phillies’ best options here. There are no guarantees, though; Keller’s signing proved that. At least attempting to supplement the internal options would give the club some breathing room in the event of injury or ineffectiveness.

Photos On the 29th... it will be 18 years... (sigh)
I knew folks who all wanted season tickets. I put together the group. A couple of people in our group...knew people. I bought the tix and then laid out the money. We sat behind home plate, just behind the really expensive seats. I had that season ticket plan from the day The Bank opened until about 10 years ago when i passed it on to someone else in our little band of brothers.
