Photos On the 29th... it will be 18 years... (sigh)
I knew folks who all wanted season tickets. I put together the group. A couple of people in our group...knew people. I bought the tix and then laid out the money. We sat behind home plate, just behind the really expensive seats. I had that season ticket plan from the day The Bank opened until about 10 years ago when i passed it on to someone else in our little band of brothers.

I still remember taking the train to the parade when I was 13, they had the parade on Halloween day. My cell phone couldn’t even get service because of how crowded it was, ended up getting separated from my family. Good times though

Woah. That must have been terrifying. How long were you apart and how did you get reunited?

it definitely was, thankfully i was able to find somewhere and get service for my phone for a few minutes and locate my family again. (only like 30 min alone) It was a mess of a day, the train taking us home was delayed a few hours too so the train station was PACKED. if anything i have a bunch of memories from that day though which is good i guess lol

I remember my dad and I took the bus from the KOP Mall to Philly. We managed to find a place to stand where we could see the parade go by, and it was a great moment. I tried taking a picture on my crappy flip phone but it didn't come out well, and I don't even know if I could find that picture anymore. Still, it was a great memory. Most of the people in my high school skipped that day, and I don't think they really even had regular classes as a result. I think they just brought everyone into the gymnasium to watch the parade on TV. I remember my mom was very much against me missing school, but my dad was like screw that, we're going to the parade haha. Great times!

My dad wrote me a sick note to get out of school for the parade and said I had a “phever”. Miss you dad!

When that happened it had been 28 years since they won it all, and 15 since they had made to the WS. Many people were born and died before the Phillies won their first WS. We've got it pretty good as fans right now when compared the history of this franchise. Doesn't make the recent outcomes any less disappointing, but I have to find some way to stop a sports team from consuming my entire existence.

I went home from school for the parade. Like a lot of people did - Greyhound had to add multiple extra buses from State College to Philly.
My middle sister had some injury (I think it was her foot, maybe her elbow, I no longer remember), Dad's health wasn't the greatest (he'd be diagnosed with amyloidosis a few months later), and my youngest sister was 12 and could hardly see anything from where she stood... I am not anyone's first pick for sitting on their shoulders (I'm a somewhat petite woman with questionable upper body strength), but youngest spent the whole parade there, and then spent the train ride home in my lap (with her bony butt digging into my thighs). It was total chaos, wildly uncomfortable, and I spent most of it trying to keep track of everyone and/or running interference to avoid middle sister getting jostled too hard. And we still had The Best Time.
It also turned out to be the only parade we'd get to go to together, as I'd moved abroad before the birds' first win, and Dad passed a couple months before their second one. I'm still so glad I cut class to be there, especially since I only vaguely remember what those classes were at this point lol. And calling my dad to tell him I already had a bus ticket home was also one of the exactly two instances of tearing up my dad was willing to admit to on his deathbed, because he "knew [he'd] raised [me] right" to know to cherish it since it may never happen again.

October 29th is my birthday and that was my 26th. Best birthday present I ever got.

I refuse to believe that our last title will be old enough to vote.

While this is not optimal fuck it could be much worse. There are still some franchises that have never won

It’s been almost 80 years for Cleveland and never for the Brewers and Padres and Mariners. We’ll survive.

Born in 1999, 2008 WS is one of my earliest memories. The idea that we’re as far from that moment as 2008 was from 1990, an era that as far as i was always concerned is ancient history, is one of the main things that makes me realize im an ADULT 🥲

I remember running to the nearest Dick's Sporting Goods to grab the hat and shirt after the game. They were sold out, but I was too happy to care. I screamed "FUCK YOU JOE CARTER" into the sky since it felt like a huge weight was lifted off our shoulders.
The woman I was seeing at the time did not appreciate my language. Shockingly, we did not last.

Remember how lucky we are to have seen one and that it’s never guaranteed we’ll get another. The Phillies are older than the 4-ball walk, and it’s only been twice. Twice in a century and a half. And for as brutal as that may be, and as tough as 18 years is to endure, we’re still better off in that regard than 3 of the remaining 4 playoff teams as of today. Love the game, not the tournament.

We have a mean of 10.5 years between WS appearances in the divisional era. See you in 2033!

On a positive note, I haven’t been arrested in 18 years
