Building a custom 3D Monopoly game for Wii U in Godot Engine! (Featuring Littlefoot & retro crew šŸ¦•šŸŽ©)

Hey everyone!
I've been working on a 3D board game project targeting the Wii U using Godot Engine!
Progress so far:
Set up the 3D board map (1000 \times 1000 plane with custom board textures).
Added custom 3D character tokens on the GO tile — including Littlefoot from The Land Before Time, Cera, Ducky, Spike, Petrie, the car, and the top hat!
Built the Main Menu and Player Setup UI scenes in 2D with human/bot drop-down choices.
Planning to handle dice rolling and board tile movement next before testing exports. Let me know what you think!
Enjoy your break, Noah! Whenever you're ready to jump back in and work on the dice mechanics or scene switching code, just let me know.

Technical Question Wii U disconnecting from Internet

• Upvotes

So, my Wii U has been running perfectly fine for the several months I've owned it, but now, it will randomly disconnect from the wifi and then start showing error code 103-1601 even though it was literally just using said Internet, power cycling the console is only a temporary fix, what's going on?

Technical Question Wii U freezes after I go to vWii

If I use the wrong flair, just please let me know. I have been getting into Wii U modding recently and I've done basically everything with the Wii U and vWii. However, I noticed that every time I tried to go back to the Wii U menu from the vWii, my console stays on but freezes. When I mean freeze, I mean that nothing shows up on my monitor and when I turn the gamepad on, it just shows a "Wii" logo and doesn't show anything either. Is my console bricked or is there something else I should do?

Also, this happens when my SD Card is in the console and when it's out of the console.

Question WiiU HDMI not working

Post image
9 Upvotes

I purchased my WiiU secondhand in January of this year, and it has been working well since. I haven’t touched the console in a month, but today when I tried to play with it, the HDMI output was not working. The Gamepad still displayed its screen normally. I’ve tried changing HDMI ports, and using a different HDMI chord, and shutting down my console, and nothing has worked. I’m really hoping the HDMI isn’t damaged, especially since I haven’t unplugged it from the console once since I brought it home.

Plz help

Edit: Upon further inspection, when the HDMI chord is plugged into the console, it seems a little loose, and does tilt one direction but not the other

Question Reputable modders to install NAND-Aid?

Hi all, I have a wiiu with one of the bad hynix emmc. I modded it and added cfw a couple yearsback, but it bricked while installing something. I purchased a nand-aid thinking that I could gain enough soldering skill and knowledge to make the repair myself, but that plan has been exceedingly slow.

Im wondering if folks out there have had experiences with reliable wiiu repair peoples or modders out there? I realize it might be easier (and likely cheaper) to just find a used one somewhere, but I bought this wiiu at a particularly low point in my life and it was a lifeline for me so Id really love to give it life again if I could.

Any advice or info would be beneficial. Thanks!

Collection I'm guess I'm back šŸ˜‡

Howdy everyone, I thought I'd share a little update. A year or so ago I said goodbye and sold off my Wii U collection. I was an OG supporter, and from 2013-2017 it was probably my most played system. I loved it and it got me through some bad times.

After the getting a Switch in 2018 though, I played it less and less, barely turning it on once or twice a year. So in September of 2025 I sold it to someone who would get some use out of it.

It seems like my brother must have been paying attention to me talk about the Wii U so enthusiastically, because this weekend during PRGE 2026, he bought me a new Wii U. I'm surprised, but kinda excited. I admittedly don't really know where to start, but we'll see how it goes. I didn't really plan on owning a Wii U again, but glad it found it's way back into my life and looking forward to being part of the community again.

Just finished restoring and upgrading my Wii U! Custom metallic black paint, Noctua cooling, and 3D-printed parts!

I wanted to share my latest project because I'm honestly pretty damn proud of how this turned out!

I've been putting a lot of time into restoring and upgrading my Wii U, and I couldn't be happier with the results. I wanted something that looked like it could have come from Nintendo, but with a few improvements of my own.

Here's what I did:

  • Completely disassembled the console, cleaned everything up, and sanded the original shell to prepare it for painting.
  • Applied Dupli-Color plastic adhesion promoter, followed by U-POL metallic black automotive paint and SprayMax 2K satin clear coat.
  • Replaced the original cooling fan with a Noctua NF-A4x20 5V 40mm fan.
  • Removed the USB ports from the motherboard and soldered the USB cable directly to the board for a cleaner, more integrated setup.
  • Designed and 3D-modeled custom parts myself, then 3D-printed them at home to make everything fit properly.
  • Reassembled everything, keeping the original Nintendo details and adding some red accents.

I'm especially happy with the paint. The metallic black has a really nice subtle texture, and the satin clear coat gives it a finish that looks fantastic in person.

The 3D modeling and printing were a fun challenge, too. There's something incredibly satisfying about designing a part yourself, printing it, and seeing everything fit together inside the console.

I know the Wii U doesn't always get the love it deserves, but I've always thought it was a pretty special system. It's been an absolute blast giving this one a second life.

Hope you guys enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed putting this thing together!

Article How I Fixed Wii U Homebrew Launch Errors (157-1101) by Restoring MLC Titles

Author: Joshua

Date of fix: Monday, October 12, 2026

Environment: Wii U running Aroma with ISFShax and Minute

  1. Introduction

Hello, my name is Joshua.

I encountered a Wii U problem for which I could not find a working guide. Searches on Google, AI assistants such as ChatGPT and Gemini, and other troubleshooting resources repeatedly led me in circles without resolving the issue.

After nearly an entire day of troubleshooting on Monday, October 12, 2026, I eventually figured out a solution myself. I'm documenting the process here in the hope that it helps someone else experiencing the same problem.

Important: These are the steps that worked for my console. This is not a guarantee that the same procedure will resolve every Wii U homebrew launch error.

  1. Symptoms and Error Details

My Wii U was running the Aroma environment.

The symptoms were as follows:

- Aroma plugins: Worked normally.

- NUSspli and Homebrew App Store: Failed to launch and displayed error code "157-1101".

- Other homebrew applications: Some, including Wii Shell and Wii Album, hung during startup.

- Recovering from a hang: I had to hold down the power button on the Wii U console, or possibly the GamePad, to shut down the system.

Error "157-1101" is associated with a title-launch failure. In my case, the error was consistent with the system failing to locate or launch the required title.

  1. Background: What Happened Before the Problem?

On Sunday, October 11, 2026, I was attempting to get RedNAND working. The process failed multiple times.

Eventually, I noticed that I could still launch games, but my homebrew applications no longer worked.

I also discovered that the Health and Safety application had disappeared from the Wii U Menu. I'm not completely certain what caused it to disappear, but I noticed the problem during my RedNAND troubleshooting.

An earlier troubleshooting suggestion was to check whether the Health and Safety title existed in system memory. I checked and found that the title was present, but it was not registered or appearing on the Wii U Menu.

That discovery led me to investigate whether it was possible to import MLC titles using MLCRestorerDownloader.

I found that it was possible, and this eventually led to the solution.

  1. Requirements

Before beginning, make sure you understand the following requirements.

Main requirement

- ISFShax must already be installed on the Wii U.

Additional requirements for Windows users

- A valid dump of your console's "otp.bin".

- The MLCRestorerDownloader PC application.

- The "otp.bin" file placed in the same folder as the application's executable.

Important safety note: This procedure involves erasing and rebuilding MLC data. Make sure you have the appropriate backups for your console and understand which NAND is being modified before proceeding. The procedure below describes my experience and should not be treated as a substitute for verifying the correct procedure for your particular setup.

  1. Prepare the MLC Title Installation Files

Step 1: Prepare MLCRestorerDownloader

  1. Download and open the MLCRestorerDownloader PC application.

  2. Place your console's "otp.bin" in the same folder as the executable.

  3. Launch the application.

  4. Select Option 1 and press Enter.

  5. Select the option corresponding to your Wii U's console region.

  6. Press Enter and follow the application's instructions.

Step 2: Prepare the SD card

After completing the PC application steps, check that the SD card contains the required files.

At the root of the SD card, there should be a folder named:

"wafel_install"

This folder should contain the 52 title subfolders generated for the installation.

The following files should be located in:

"SD:/wiiu/ios_plugins/"

- "00core.ipx"

- "5isfshax.ipx"

- "5payldr.ipx"

- "wafel_setup_mlc.ipx"

Make sure the filenames and folder paths are correct before proceeding.

Step 3: Check the Minute configuration

Locate:

"SD:/minute/minute.ini"

Check the "autoboot" setting.

- If you do not use autoboot, make sure it is not configured to launch an unintended target.

- If your setup requires autoboot for this procedure, set "autoboot = 3" as appropriate for your configuration.

Do not change this setting blindly: confirm that the value is correct for your installed ISFShax/Stroopwafel setup.

  1. Prepare the Wii U Using Minute

Before installing the MLC titles, I used the Minute menu to prepare the system.

  1. Boot into the Minute menu.

  2. Open the Backup and Restore options.

  3. Select Erase MLC.

  4. Select Erase scfm.img as well.

  5. Follow the additional requirements and instructions for your installation method.

Warning: Erasing MLC and "scfm.img" is destructive. Do not proceed unless you have verified that these operations are appropriate for your console and have secured the necessary backups. This is particularly important if your Wii U has NAND-related problems or you are trying to preserve an existing SysNAND.

  1. Install the MLC Titles

Once ISFShax is installed and the SD card is prepared:

  1. Insert the SD card into the Wii U.

  2. Power on the console.

  3. Allow the configured installation process to start.

If not Automatic, it's option 3.

  1. Watch the console's LED. During the installation, mine flashed blue.

  2. Wait until the blue flashing stops.

In my case, the process took approximately 15–30 minutes.

Do not interrupt the installation. Wait until the LED stops flashing before powering off the console.

  1. Verify the Repair

After the installation finished:

  1. Power off the console only after the activity indicator stopped flashing.

  2. Power the Wii U back on.

  3. Check whether the Health and Safety application has returned to the Wii U Menu.

  4. Launch the homebrew applications that previously failed.

  5. Check whether NUSspli and Homebrew App Store launch without error "157-1101".

  6. Verify that the other applications no longer hang during startup.

  7. Final Result

For my Wii U, restoring the MLC titles resolved the problem.

The Health and Safety application reappeared, and the homebrew applications that previously failed to launch were working again. The plugin functionality that had continued working throughout the issue was unaffected.

My experience suggests that the problem was related to the MLC title registration or installation state, rather than a general failure of Aroma plugins.

I cannot say with certainty what originally caused the issue, but restoring the MLC titles was the solution that worked for me.

  1. Final Thoughts

I spent nearly an entire day trying to solve this problem. Most of the troubleshooting advice I found did not address the actual cause of my issue, and I repeatedly ended up going in circles.

The important clue was that the Health and Safety title still existed in system memory but was missing from the Wii U Menu. That pushed me toward investigating MLC title restoration rather than continuing to troubleshoot Aroma plugins.

I'm sharing this experience in case another Wii U owner encounters the same combination of symptoms: working Aroma plugins, homebrew applications failing with error "157-1101" or hanging, and the Health and Safety application missing from the Wii U Menu.

This is the solution that worked for me. Always verify the procedure against your console's configuration before performing destructive NAND operations.

Just found at flea market for 10 bucks I tested the Wii U and it worked like a normal one I do know these are parts from a kiosk but should I keep on my shelf’s I can’t really do much with them or should I sell for someone to complete their kiosk and get myself some nice items for the collection I’ve been eyeing the Zelda Wii U and a few more games as my collection is quite small for Wii U compared to other consoles or if possible I was thinking I could custom make myself a kiosk if I find the kiosk console and cables to complete their setup I do happen to have a kiosk screen I found a while back and has been sitting in storage

Emulation on the Wii-U (forwarders or native?)

Hi,

I'm just considering the best way to install emulators on my Wii-U for larger rom sets of pre Gamecube systems. (ie not using injects).

I'm confused as to whether it is best to install the emulators via vWii and then a forwarder on the Wii-U menu OR can I just install native Wii-U emulators and play them directly on the Wii-U side of things?

Thank you.

Question Is there any way to boot directly into vWii USB LoaderGX?

I know it’s possible to boot directly into vWii on the Wii U, but what about directly into USBLoader GX? I couldn’t find any useful answers on Google or YouTube. This would save a lot of time since I mainly use my Wii U for Wii games.

Let me know if this is possible, thanks

Should have done this years ago!

As a 52 year old man, who really needs to lose weight, lower their blood pressure and get some more exercise, I finally decided to start actually using my Wii U, Wii Fit U and balance board (and a bit of Wii Sports Resort)

I lost 3.1kg (7 lbs) in my first week!

Only really spent my playtime trying out random activities as I never played any of them before.

Also got the Wii Fit U Meter as well and also walked 13km!

YAY me.

twilight princess disc not working only with wiiu but works fine with wii?

so, i have a copy of twilight princess for the wii and it runs fine on my wii. i can play other wii games on my wii u including skyward sword, but for whatever reason the wii u will not read this particular disc. it pops up on the menu like normal, i click on it and open the game, i get the title screen, it lets me select a save file, then instead of the opening cutscene it just has a black screen that says ā€œthe game disc could not be read. please refer to your wii operations manual for more informationā€. i guess the disc could be dirty or scratched, but like i said it runs completely fine on my regular wii. any thoughts/suggestions? i have also tried erasing the save info from the wii u’s wii menu settings T^T

Image Need Help With Wii U GameCube injectors

Post image
8 Upvotes

Hi it's me Zack

So everytime and I mean EVERYTIME I try to Launch a Forwader or a WiiVC injector in my Wii U menu it always gives me black screen! I tried it with different injectors and Forwader and still same thing! However this applies to the "This Software supports the Wii U gamepad do you want to use it?" And I'm just trying to Play Super Smash Bros Melee on my Wii U

Programs I used

- TeconMoon WiiVC injector

- Wii U Modded With Aroma Using Wafel.xyz

- a Windows 10 PC 64 Bit

- a Zain Broadband USB (it's the only USB stick that reads my Wii U sd card but it's super slow because it's from 2012 with some missing firmwares inside the USB stick)
