My husband and I met online. He accused me of cheating, and pressured me to be sexual, disregarding my reasons why I didn’t want to be which included trauma. He convinced me all of the issues we had were my fault, and I made him treat me as he did. That didn’t stop me from getting fed up, however, and I broke up with him and stopped talking to him for periods of time. He met and was with his ex, who he told me he didn’t intend to get into a relationship with, but that she threw herself at him, and he didn’t want to reject her. He said he wasn’t fully attracted to her, but slept with her to avoid hurting her feelings, and claimed he struggled during it. He told me he broke up with her because he wasn’t over me, and claimed she slandered him as a result.
He called her crazy and said she had self harm scars on her arms. He met his former friend after that online, and then in person, sending me screenshots of her calling her cute and claiming she made advances on him which he said he turned down, because he still had feelings for me. He stopped talking to her and called her self absorbed. He told me online he wanted to help me out of the bad situation I was in. He sent me money I tried to send back. I was overweight, which he said he didn’t mind. I lost weight before we met. We met, and he rejected me, and shamed me for trying to be sexual. He said he told me online he wouldn’t be the same way in person.
He refused to hold hands in public and said he disliked PDA because of how he felt about himself. I lost more weight and he came onto me, but it felt forced. He helped me, as he said he would, but eventually complained and held a lot of what he did over my head, including things he insisted on buying me just days after we met, and the money he sent online. He called me ungrateful constantly. He started to sleep all day, spend less time with me, and told me to wake him to get food but would then cuss me out when I did. I noticed he was hypocritical in that he could do something to hurt me, and justify it, but if I did anything to him he’d demand an apology. I spoke to his ex, and she told me he said he’d two time. He said she was lying to make him look bad.
He asked me to go back to the UK with him, and told me he’d support me after I said I didn’t have enough to support myself. I had severe social anxiety, and wore a mask and hoodie because of it in public. I avoided social interactions. All of which he said he accepted online. Yet, he tried to push me to talk to his family, getting upset when I struggled. He told me his mother was often in a bad mood, and swore at him randomly. He said she was at the door listening during arguments and disagreements. All of this put me off interacting with her. He argued with me over needing the pill once, how he didn’t want to buy it, and how he had spent enough on me already. He used his ex against me, saying she bought her own stuff and he got along better or was happier with her.
He started to ignore me whenever I was upset and said it was because it was always about him. He told me he had ocd about not finding me attractive, and started meds he claimed killed his libido. I lost more weight and he showed more interest in me, telling me if I looked that way when we met he would’ve been all over me, and doing PDA. However, he was blaming me for everything wrong, talking about breaking up, and accusing me of ruining his life. I spoke to my mother about how he was treating me, and he reacted badly, accusing me of slander. He said he had low libido and I caught him looking at porn, which he denied, and then said was to test himself. I started to suspect he was cheating. I questioned him and he called me paranoid and crazy.
He said I was the type to cheat, and that I’d do so thinking he had. He was snooping on my phone but slapped my hand away from his. We were in another country at the time and he repeatedly ditched me during arguements in public. He threatened to break up constantly and told me he didn’t love me. He used my traumas and vulnerabilities against me. He was randomly cruel towards me and justified it by saying we were not getting along, when I was trying to. He threatened me with calling his family during arguments, lied about doing so, and fabricated things they said. Then reassured me he’d never speak badly of me to anyone. He acted weird around younger girls, and children, and I noticed it shortly after we met.
He would go silent around them, or walk off if they came near us. He told me he had once dealt with POCD, the OCD based fear that he was a pedophile, but that he was no longer dealing with it. I questioned why he was acting that way if he wasn’t. He tried to debate me on whether pedophiles deserved to go to hell, to which I said yes, and he was bothered by that. He said no one, not even Hitler, deserves to go to hell for an eternity. He asked me what about non-offending pedophiles, and I said still yes, and he got angry with me over that. At the same time, he was telling me it was normal to mistake girls as young as 15 for being older, and finding them attractive, due to their development, and became defensive and irritated if I disagreed.
He told me he had no libido due to meds sometimes but I’d catch him ogling other women, some of whom appeared to be teenagers, and he denied it. He pulled away once, going off to another room for weeks, claiming to be struggling with his mental health. I found searches for normal images of 12yo girls in his search history. He said he was doing a behaviour called checking. That was after he said 13yo girls can look a lot older than they are, and I challenged him on that. He denied being a pedophile but said some very questionable things, like asking why I thought teen porn was so popular, after I said I believed it was disgusting and abnormal that so many men are so interested in teenage girls.
He criticised my anxiety, and my looking to help from him in social situations, and said it made me look stupid and people were judging. I pushed myself to talk to someone, and he told me the woman frowned at me. I started interacting more socially but he would comment any time I’d make a mistake, and say that it was awkward or I was given bad looks. He threatened to kick me out during arguments. He went off to other rooms to ignore me for hours to days. He started to call his mother, lying to her and making me look bad in arguments he started, and she appeared to side with him, and started to intervene in arguments assuming I was the instigator. He started to do the same with my family. He called my mother and told her I was crazy.
I tried to get family to help and he called my aunt and she went back on helping me. He started telling me that my mother said things, like how I’m the instigator, which she denied saying. I still suspected he was cheating. Any time he was acting shady, he’d question me and snoop on my phone, but would call me controlling and abusive if I did the same. I started to post about the cheating suspicious and I used chatGPT, both of which angered him. He said chatGPT agreed with everyone, and that people were wrong on here. During the darkest times of my life, I never felt supported by him, including during a time I had an abortion when he gave little support, and gave he gave me a disgusted look while I was crying, blaming me for why he did later on.
He mocked me over my eating disorder in argument’s. He challenged me any time I thought I needed the doctor, for any reason. He seemed more empathetic towards strangers, and even his younger brother’s ex gf, worrying issues they were having would affect her A-Levels, and defending caring about that by saying he was allowed to care for other people, and that he was going to study to become a counsellor so that would be his job. I never took him seriously about that until he did a course. He told me his teacher praised him and said he didn’t seem to have BPD, when he does, but was accusing me of having it for years. I wanted to leave because the idea of him being a counsellor made me uncomfortable.
He said he wouldn’t do it if I didn’t want him to. I regained weight and he started to put me down over it during arguments, after showing less interest and blaming meds, and saying it had nothing to do with my weight. He said I let myself go and called me fat and ugly. He said he didn’t mean it and only said it to hurt me. He acknowledged he has BPD a few years ago. He was in another course of counselling. He said he’d go to therapy to work on his issues and better the relationship. But he became hot and cold again, doing the same things as before, in no time, telling me he wanted me gone, after he begged me not to stay home when I wanted to, promising things would change. He started therapy but used his therapist against me.
He is now a student counsellor. He told me one his clients said he feels the best he’s ever felt. He has little patience for my feelings. He’s done several things back to back which have hurt me, and further damaged my trust. He recently confessed to lying about something for 8 years but tried to minimise it, and turn it around on me. He calls me abusive for treating him the same way he treats me. I worry about him working with women, particularly about sexual matters and sexual trauma, since he never took mine seriously and has w*ore shamed me over things before. I told him this, and said what he doesn’t believe women, and he said that they’re trained to tell if a person is lying.
He tried to deny he said the truth, and claimed he said they can tell by their emotions. He said clients can manipulate. He said women, mostly those with BPD, make false allegations. He talks about transference, but only the romantic kind, which he says every counsellor experiences. He had a supervisor, who was his teacher before, and the guy made inappropriate comments and jokes about the female students and clients, and told him that he had a drop dead gorgeous female client. He is talking about working with young people, which he said he didn’t want to do before knowing I wasn’t comfortable with that. It’s a course not many people are doing, and doesn’t have much benefit, but he says he can earn some extra money, even though the fuel alone would cancel that out.
When I said that it wouldn’t be worth it, he agreed, and said he wouldn’t yesterday. But he seems to be pondering on it, and wanting to do it, and keeps coming to me about it. He said he wants to do it today and it just rubbed me the wrong way. Like he was trying to act like he didn’t want to do it, to throw me off. He was very enthusiastic about it, too.
