Victoria 2 — New Patches, Super Event Audio Fixes, Assimilation Effects & Performance Improvements
I've added several new features, bug fixes, and performance improvements to the Victoria 2 patch. Here's a breakdown of what's new.
1. Super Event Audio Fixes
Several bugs related to super event audio have been fixed:
- Music pauses during super events: The regular background music pauses when a super event starts, preventing both audio tracks from playing over each other. The music resumes normally once the event ends.
- Music stops when leaving a match: Background music no longer continues playing after leaving a game.
- Volume control integration: Super event audio now follows the game's music volume setting, allowing you to adjust its volume through the normal in-game controls.
2. New Music Mute Hotkey
A new keyboard shortcut has been added:
Ctrl + Shift + M — Toggle music mute
- Mutes only the music, leaving other sound effects unaffected.
- Works at any time, including during loading screens.
- Press the same combination again to unmute the music.
- The music returns to its normal state when the game is restarted.
This feature is also useful for preventing unexpectedly loud music from causing discomfort or potential hearing damage.
3. New Population Assimilation and Religious Conversion Effects (Credit: GODOG)
A new assimilate effect has been added, allowing modders to change the culture and/or religion of pops through scripted effects.
The effect supports cultural assimilation, religious conversion, or both simultaneously.
Cultural Assimilation
Example: Assimilate French pops into North German culture.
any_pop = {
limit = {
culture = french
}
assimilate = {
culture = north_german
amount = 0.5
}
}
Religious Conversion
Example: Convert Catholic French pops to Protestantism.
any_pop = {
limit = {
culture = french
religion = catholic
}
assimilate = {
religion = protestant
amount = 0.3
}
}
Combined Cultural Assimilation and Religious Conversion
Both effects can be applied simultaneously. For example, the following effect targets province 425 and specifies both a new culture and a new religion:
425 = {
assimilate = {
culture = north_german
religion = protestant
amount = 0.5
}
}
Configuration
This feature is controlled by the ENABLE_ASSIMILATE_BLOCK setting.
Disabled by default. Modders must enable it in their configuration to use the new effect.

4. Support for Mod-Specific DLL Patches
A new, empty DLL named v2dll_mod.dll has been added.
Mods can include their own modified version of this DLL to provide additional patches. When the patch detects a modified v2dll_mod.dll, it loads and applies the patches included in that version.
This provides a way to extend the patch with mod-specific functionality without having to integrate every additional patch directly into the main DLL.
Configuration
This feature is controlled by the ENABLE_MODS setting.
Disabled by default. Enable it if you want to use mod-specific DLL patches.
5. TGC Performance Patches
Performance improvements from the latest TGC update have also been incorporated.
The network-related patch was deliberately excluded because its effects on multiplayer stability and synchronization are not yet known. Applying it without further testing could introduce compatibility issues or desynchronization problems in multiplayer games.
